I was looking through my bookish notebook yesterday and mourning for how nice my handwriting when I started this. I don’t think it looks bad now, but it was so neat and tidy when I first started! . I think that’s down to the pen I use. I’ve been using a biro recently, but my friend gave me these two the other day and I’m so excited to use them. One’s a beautiful fountain pen and the other is a very nifty biodegradable pen - once I’m done with it, apparently I can plant the whole thing and it grows into something! . These notes are from when I read Daughter of the Forest for the Myth Take Reads book of the month and I loved it! If you check their Twitter page, they’re giving away a beautiful, rare copy of the book. . . . . #pens #notebook #writing #handwriting #fountainpen #bookstagram #booksofinstagram #bookish #booklover #readdotf #mythtakereads #bijpens https://www.instagram.com/p/B2WxGvNgDBP/?igshid=15ox5uy79elym

I think I lucked out with my copies of The Sevenwater Trilogy. They’re all the right size and must have come from the same print series because they match - at least they’ll good on my shelf! Also, I got them all for less than £15! . I haven’t had the chance to read the second book this month because I’ve had a lot of other books to read. It’s been the first month I’ve planned what books I’m going to read and I think that’s because I wanted to read some LGBT+ books this month, and these are a bit too long to fit in a month where I have a lot of other books planned. . I’m looking forward to checking out the sequel because I want to see how it’ll wrap up the questions Daughter of the Forest left open, especially as it’ll be set years after the first. I really enjoyed the first when I read it for #mythtakereads and I know it’s a childhood favourite of a lot of people, so I have high hopes for it - I hope I’m not setting them too high! . . You may have noticed my username has changed - the first step to starting the book blog I’ve been talking about for months. This time, I’ve got my boyfriend joining me on my venture, so we’ll hopefully keep each other motivated as we start! . . . . #readdotf #booksofinstagram #reading #book #bookstagram #books #daughteroftheforest #sevenwaterstrilogy #read #booklover #bookseries #bookish #bookworm #bookblog #bookpile #bookblogging #bookobsessed #booknerd https://www.instagram.com/p/By5gRe5gKrI/?igshid=sxvkx3o9icpx

The #mythtakereads book of the month for May was Daughter of the Forest by Juliet Marillier. Honestly, I think they’re on a role with their choices because I’ve really liked both so far. I’ll be honest, I was initially daunted by the page count, with each chapter being about fifty pages. Reading it coincided with writing essays, so I was just reading it when I got the chance, which meant that I read all the slow bits over a longer amount of time. By the time it was exciting, I had time to dedicate to it. And, if you check my Twitter, I sped through the final through chapters! That said, I 100% understand why some people said it was slow. The big events only really happened in the last three or four chapters. This book should come with a massive trigger warning for rape. Marillier, I think, handled it really well. It haunts Sorcha and every relationship she has for the rest of the book. However, after spending so long on the rape, it was a shame that a sex scene that meant so much to Sorcha was just brushed over. It felt like there were an awful lot of questions left unanswered, even after 650+ pages, but fortunately I’ve already bought the next ones 😅 I’ve got high hopes for them! Also, I’m pretty sure I’m not related to Oonagh, the evil stepmother, but who can sure with hair like mine? 👩🏻🦰 #readdotf #booksofinstagram #bookstagram #reading #irishfolklore #irishmythology #daughteroftheforest #bookaholic #book #books #read #europeanfolklore #bookworm #booklover #bookish #bookblogging #bookreview #bookblogger #bookreviewer #redhair https://www.instagram.com/p/ByDeFrIgD5L/?igshid=10s89mmjfjlpj

This time in two days, I’ll be finished 😬 well, hopefully the essay will be finished today and tomorrow will be for editing 🤞 I’m taking full advantage of the sunshine and sitting in the park after a few hours inside, for a change of scenery. My days at the moment are currently split between three projects, but I am finding time to squeeze in a bit of reading as well - which is pretty unusual for me at this time of the year, no matter how much I normally want to read! #booksofinstagram #read #bookstagram #writing #reading #essay #poems #englishliteraturestudent #medusa #greekmythology #readdotf #mythtakereads #irishfolklore #bookblogger #bookworm #bookish #booklover https://www.instagram.com/p/BxKeJR5HFbA/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1mmlue69xu0lv
