anyways, and sorry if this is long, but Woe- More Tumblr Things Be Upon Ye:

there used to not be an image limit before, causing a few- interesting posts… tho that changed a few years ago and recently, at first the limit being 10 images per post to now 30 images per post (you can also move the images around a bit)

if you plan on staying long term on tumblr and use desktop the most, i recommend getting the browser extensions Xkit &/or New Xkit cuz… yeah, tumblr is pretty nice, but it sometimes gets hard to use. it also adds extra useful things to the tumblr experience, which is nice to have. i'd say tumblr is like living in a cheap apartment in a calm area of the city. the place's great for what it is, just gotta be sure to leave rat traps near holes and dont worry about the Beast down the hall,

speaking of rats, we got an infestation. you may or may not have heard of it with the voter fraudage going with the polls a bit ago; since tumblr has little to No email verification, people outside tumblr buy bots to get in here and start posting malicious links. tho the bots are surprisingly easy to identify (often times blank blogs with very weird descriptions + stolen picture of lady or ai generated. you'll know it when you see it), and the protocol here is block and report spam so staff can deal with it

and btw if you want to keep a post for as long as your blog stands, i recommend rebloggin! thanks to how tumblr is build as, even if the original post or that blog is gone, the reblog will stay with you (+ tags on reblogs dont really make a post expand outside of your own blog, so many use this to create Very intricate personal tag systems to make easier finding posts, bc once a blog gets 1k+ post in it, it gets hard finding anything on it... <- knows this from experience u.u)

oh and last thing before i go again (and something i found out recently), another browser extension ive been loving: Stylus! with it you can customize a ton of sites to your liking And with a specific style found in the archive of this extension, you can change how the dashboard looks! even changing the background to any image you might want :D

Did you enjoy tsats? I've seen you posting and rebloggin some critics, but was the book enjoyable?

So I haven't actually finished the book yet but at this point... I'm not sure that I will. But I have a lot of thoughts anyway. And I've been reblogging the posts that match up with my own reading experience (mostly because it's becoming clear the book continues to follow this pattern I've already noticed, so I'm not concerned about spoilers anymore).

The thing is, I went into the book with low expectations. I'm not a big fan of Will Solace - though I like the Apollo cabin in general. I was really hoping to pick up the book be shown why I should like Will. Instead, I got a character assassination. Will is flawed, and I appreciate those flaws, but not in the way Oshiro (and it was clearly Oshiro at this point) protrayed them.

I was actually prepared for the mismatched lore and some minor retcons - because every Riordan book includes those! Plus, I'm not opposed to a character-based narrative, in fact, I generally prefer stories with a lot of angst and drama. I also wasn't bothered by the lovey-dovey way Will and Nico interact, I found it sweet.

Unforunately, the book, on a technical level, is poorly written. For one, the central metaphor of the story "darkness vs light" is not done well. It lacks concrete examples.

Is it about their powers? It shouldn't be - that dynamic is more about "death vs life" than anything else. If that is the case - it's odd that Will reacting to "death energy" now. Other characters found Nico's "death energu" creepy, Will found it cool. So the entire conflict wouldn't be in character, that's what the metaphor is angling towards (again, it seems purposefully misleading to rebrand "death vs life" to "darkness vs light").

Is it about their personalities? It could be. Nico often describes Will as unfailing kind in this book, always smiling, always warm. It harkens back to Nico's description of Will as a chill cat bathing in the sunlight. Now, we all know that Will isn't like this, at his heart. The flaws beneath that persona could be his "darkness". However, Nico seems to hate that part of Will. The part that's arrogant, that sees his way of doing things as best, etc. Furthermore, Nico is apparently "all darkness" to Will, but like... what does that mean? Nico is a bleeding heart, he's giving and he's caring, and does Will not realise that? Like, if that's the case, why are they dating? How have they been dating for an entire year and Will doesn't know that? It's just... not good.

But that's not where the problems end. The pacing is slow, the entire book drags. I feel like the characters the couple run into don't push the drama / angst as far as it should, considering this is a book focused on that. There are many more characters who could show where Nico and Will's worldviews fundamentally misalign!

Finally, this is an example of a wider plot / set-up issue: Will's backpack. At the start of the adventure, Will fills a large backpack with "stuff". The only real item we're told about is a Sun Lamp. That's an issue, because if we don't know what's in the backpack there's less chance that Will will actually use the stuff inside. And if he does use any items, it will feel contrived. Furthermore, by this point in the book, Oshiro seems to have forgotten that Will is lugging a heavy bag around. When Will gets tired he doesn't mention it nor Nico does offer to carry the bag.

We know that Will has never been on a proper quest, but he has fought in three wars at this point. He is a veteran! I think the backpack would have been an excellent opporunity to show Will's character and experience. Maybe he knows that he tends to freak out in battle when he doesn't know what he should be doing (if someone's injured then, well, it's obvious his job to fix them) - so he's overcompensating.

Have Will pick up items from various campers as he prepares to go. Maybe he gets grenades from Clarisse, traps from Cecil, a magical flare gun from Lou Ellen. There - now we know what Will is taking to the underworld. We are also reminded of Will's friends at camp. And these items would help make Will more useful! Instead of giving Will random new powers, just... have him use the items he brought with him!

I have no idea if Will does, in fact, pull something out of his bag at some point. But at this point, I'm really doubtful.

I hope you don't mind the rant! I really did go into this book with an open mind - I was really to give it a chance. But pretty much every writing choice Oshiro made is one I disagree with, and that's hard to put aside.

So I've been going on a bit of a madcom spree again, rebloggin aahw art n stuff because I LOVE the aahw clones so much

Idk why I like them so much because (speaking purely from the madcom series perspective) they don't got much goin on besides wanting to kill Hank, and there's not THAT much info about the clones

BUT THAT DIDN'T STOP ME!!!!

I was having massive autism moments about the soldats so I made a comic on my hcs on how soldats are handled in the AAHW. It's old and ngl, kinda emo edgy, but I still love itt.

After that someone asked me for more hcs and I made a short text post about other agency hcs+ clone biology. I still mostly stand by all my biology hcs and also because the 10 year lifespan of a clone thing is the perfect angst material. Clones are literally just attack dogs for the aahw, down to having a dog lifespan

And I mean!! Yeah!! Cloning would require lots of energy and using it all to make clones that can live up to 100 years when they can all die in 5 years or less? WHY would you give them long lifespans? It's not like after they kill Hank they're gonna go out and make a family or anything. Also it means that if a clone dissents and becomes a runaway, they don't have to worry about it for too long because they're gonna die in a few years anyway.

Engineers and Soldats are especially fascinating to me with their Advanced Training Program and mustard blood or whatev. It's very much implied that grunts who go through training programs are also slowly stripped away of their own agency so they can only listen to and carry out the orders of the AAHW without needs of their own.

AND RHEN I only recently found out that engineers and soldats make mechanical noises!

Soldats make noises adjacent to engines meanwhile engineers make radio noises. I'm ECSTATIC

Engineers and Soldats are MADE to be machines carrying out orders. But also since they're more mechanical, and since engineers emit radio noises, could they theoretically telepathically communicate with eachother? That would be pretty useful.

A sillier hc is that engineers and soldats make very quiet mechanical noises, sorta like it's their pulse and you can hear them better if you press your ear on their chest or neck. They can also purr, whirr and trill :3

Despite all my hcs, the clones very much have their own vague personality

As I've said, agents are dumber and braver. They are also more committed (and by relation, probably also pretty stubborn). Engineers are tacticians and posses knowledge about engineering(duh) and possibly other domains too like the medical field and are often the ones ordering groups of grunts and agents. Soldats are fierce, reckless and impatient, made to be killing machines more than anything. They're more agile and well-versed in combat.

whys it appropriating to use top/bottom as a straight person (genuinely asking)

(Note: I use "straight" and "non-MLM" somewhat interchangeably here, mostly because the misusage of top/bottom/vers usually comes from cishet people and cis bi women. I also don't really touch on trans women using the terms here for the sake of time and also because I don't really care what transfems do with their connection or lack thereof to the MLM community.)

Using top/bottom/vers as a non-MLM is disregarding the history of those words and the reason why they exist. This is because these terms mean very specific things in our communities. A massive oversimplification of the meanings for the sake of time is that a top wants to fuck people, a bottom wants to get fucked, and a vers is fine with either position.

This should not be conflated with dom/sub/switch, which are terms in kink communities. When most non-MLM use top/bottom/vers, they are usually conflating it with dom/sub/switch. Which completely ignores the history of the word, and in some cases fetishizes MLM because the implication is that gay sex is the same thing as kink.

Saying something like "my (cis, non-MLM) girlfriend tops me!" is just incorrect unless she is pegging you (but I will get into why you still shouldn't use that word later). This is similar to how you wouldn't call a non-sapphic "stone" - it's not an accurate descriptor because it doesn't apply, and it's misusing terms that are only for certain communities as if they belong to everyone.

This may seem like a common but harmless misconception to many non-MLM, but it's actually really bad. Here are some examples of harm brought to the MLM community by misusing our language:

Our language being used as a vehicle to fetishize us and further ostracize us: by conflating vanilla gay sex with kink communities, people further the existing negative stereotypes about MLM and reveal their own unconscious anti-MLM biases. While plenty of MLM including myself are happy being included in kink communities, it is nonetheless harmful to our community as a whole to conflate the two like this.

Being left out of the conversation when it comes to our own experiences: convincing straight people that top/bottom/vers is for them, we are left out of discussions of our own experiences because non-MLM are convinced that they belong in our communities.

This isn't really harm, but non-MLM using top/bottom/vers is usually incredibly cringy for us MLM to witness and we will all collectively laugh at you.

I am already hearing some non-MLM say, "but what about the evolution of language? These words have been used by non-MLM for decades now!" and that is a fair point. However, it is important to recognize and understand when a term commonly used stems from appropriation, and fix that.

There is, of course, some nuance when it comes to non-MLM talking about MLM people using top/bottom/vers language. It is weird to say that someone is a top/bottom/vers when they haven't made that information public if you're non-MLM, or to be weird about that aspect of them. However, I would give non-MLM the benefit of the doubt in a lot of these cases.

Also, a few words on gatekeeping: saying that non-MLM shouldn't use top/bottom/vers might be considered gatekeeping by non-MLM, but in fact, protecting our language from appropriation isn't gatekeeping.

Also also, I'm using MLM here as an umbrella term for gay men, bisexual men, nonbinary people who love men and other nonbinary people, and everyone else who might identify with "gay" in the MLM sense. This post is not to gatekeep who is able to identify as MLM.

So what can you do if you're not MLM? First, stop using those words to refer to yourself, and start thinking more critically about who you're calling a top, bottom, or vers. Remember to educate yourself about queer language and terminology and to listen to MLM, especially trans MLM and MLM of color.

You can also reblog this post. I'm not going to guilt you into reblogging, or say that not reblogging this is homophobic, but I would still strongly encourage it. If you're not MLM, please don't start shit, just listen. My asks are open if you want to become more educated on this topic!

Lmaooo this white girl that didn't miss a chance to say she was from western Europe starting following me first and then I followed back, then she started to occasionally reblog mildly racist posts you know about how men of color were still men and therefore a threat for white women everywhere of how her "friends" who are women of color whom would call themselves white man's wh*re deserved if they got treated badly. So i started rebloggin posts talking about how white women are the devil incarnate and just as bad a white men. We were in this little implicit "fight" but I just checked and she unfollowed me first lol. Also she would only come on here to trash talk her own "friends", and made it known how much of a misandrist weird and quirky she was. Then you'll see her blog and it was so bland (only in the rare occasion that she would post real body gore... she tried so hard). Saddest thing is she's in her twenties and to be acting like a fool on the internet on THIS site no less...... girl just go to therapy.

Anyways, I'm glad she unfollowed me first they were many times I came close to block her but she saw mutuals blocking her as a win. Now I can go back to enjoy my lovingly curated dashboard.

Addressing Role Play Concerns

G’afternoon er’ryone. Clyde here comin’ to talk with ya about somethin’ more serious than I usually do. Me and my conscious (the voice in my head tellin’ me what to do and how to act with you lot) have had a lot of back and forth on if and how to address this. This bein’ the interaction boundaries between the RP blogs and those that write in. 

Now, I am more grateful than a pig in mud that ya take time outta yer busy life to write in ‘n check in on me to see how things are ‘n t’keep me from bein’ too lonely. But I respect that this is only one part of yer life, and most certainly not the highest priority. 

This is my first try at somethin’ like this so I didn’t know what to expect when I signed on. Now, it has been a handful, sometimes more than a handful, but I respect my personal boundaries and the boundaries of those around me. These boundaries could be time, topics of discussion, length of response, content, and most importantly consent (sexual or not). All RP blogs that I have seen in this ADCU have noted 18+ and topics they may or may not wish to participate in at the top of their blogs. That bein’ said, we are all adults here, if yer under 18, ya shouldn’t be here. I mean no disrespect, we were all there at one point, but there is a time ‘n place.  

When it comes to not rebloggin’ or respondin’ or whatever ya wanna call it, there could several reasons. 

Some blogs are swamped with messages ‘n posts and things honestly get lost. 

Another option is that the post doesn’t fit with the direction their blog is goin’. In a perfect world, the blog would be able to reach out ‘n explain that but it’s not a perfect world. Sorry.

Many blogs have a list of things that are and are not allowed for interactions - those are there for a reason. Please respect them. While this is role playing, the person behind the character may have issues of their own that may not line up with the character, and for those reasons may not wish to engage in certain situations. They do not owe you an explanation in this case. 

Additionally, I know that Tumblr has been givin’ me a fit with not postin’ all my responses or not givin’ me notifications and messages. From talkin’ with other blogs, this appears to be a common issue. 

Fer me ‘n my blog, if ya feel like somethin’ has been dropped or overlooked, please send in a message to check in. Between mobile and desktop versions of Tumblr, things honestly get overlooked. Plus workin’ full time at the bar and managin’ a house on my own, my time to interact is sporadic ‘n my memory ain’t the best. 

But if the blog (mine or others) decides not to move forward with yer post/interaction, do not take it personally, because it isn’t. Everyone has created a version of the character in their mind and it is their creative responsibility to express it how they see fit, not how others try to influence. If ya would do somethin’ differently, I encourage ya to create a blog ‘n run it the way ya want to see it. 

I say all o’ that to get to this. This is fun, this has been amazing fer me ‘n my conscious as a way to escape from the shitty world we are inhabitin’ right now. This is somethin’ I do on my own time, for free, because I enjoy it. We are only human, capable of so much after all.  

At this time, I’m unsure if Clyde will be stickin’ round after Halloween. If I do, it won’t be an er’ryday thing, just for my conscious’s sake, bless ‘em. Lately, I've been thinking about writing my own fics. For starters something simple like few headcanoncs here and there, but the thing is... My english is really poor. Like it's not my native language and actually I'm an english major so it doesn't really make sense since I should be able to form few coherent sentences, right? Still, I feel that there are already tons of great writers here and I wouldn't like to be responsible of putting my shit writing out there.

I got mixed feelings. Maybe I'll just stick to rebloggin and shitposting.

It’s been a while since I last posted any content of my own. I don’t mind rebloggin other folks with amazing content, though. It’s you folks who keep my blog alive truth be told.

Anyhoo, I’ve been workin on my first draft of my GW2 (AU) fanfic lately. Tryin to break the ol’ habit of going back and fixing/editing my first draft until I actually finish said draft. It’s going pretty good so far =3

So, for the time being, here’s a small snippet:

Aurenthir sat beside his pod twin, gazing at the trees beyond the Pale Tree’s roots. He was lost in his thoughts as his sister examined their recent findings of hylek artifacts and broken spears. His brooding wasn't lost to her and she sighed loudly enough for him to hear. "Honestly brother, are you so torn about being cut out from the Dream?" she asked when he turned his attention to her. "Does it not bother you?” he asked. “We shared in the same Dream. Yet we were suddenly ripped from it and can no longer connect to it." He pulled his knees to his chest and rested his chin on them. "I just want to know why the Pale Tree would do such a thing to us. Have we somehow wronged her before we woke? Were we not meant to connect with her and our siblings?" Ceara turned her gaze to her brother. "We don't need the Pale Tree to give us reasons or a purpose. We're free to do as we please." She gave a small pause. “Or would you rather be told what to do? To have your life predestined for you?” “Of course not,” Aurenthir pouted at the thought. Ceara was pleased with his reply and went back to examining the hylek artifacts. Aurenthir then muttered, “But it’d be nice to feel connected to our own kind...” Ceara scoffed and shook her head, clearly having heard his complaint. “I don’t think I’d be okay with all that distraction. That’s all the Dream is, a distraction. And you, my sad little brother, are very distracted.”

1. When did you first get into Homestuck? geez, well if we wanna go specifically in order, i got into homestuck content when i...uh...found homesmutvoice’s blog of audios...and later toycarousel’s uh...most of his cronkri audio content, then hiveswap came out later on and i liked that, tried to get into homestuck a lil after but i couldn’t get past john’s b-day fight with dad. wasn’t until...gee late or mid august this year? that i got into it thanks to YOU converter of the stuck homes! and now we’re here lmao.

4. Ever made your own chumhandle? kjhdfskhjdsfj wait dats a thing?! i thought that was a fake online site for HS lmao. well, maybe i’ll have to see wha i can do for that. but i guess to answer le no lmao.

11. Favorite Alpha kid? ah geez lmao, so far jake and jane are tied but i do like jake, i gotta thing for adorkable dudes.

12. Favorite Alpha troll? khjdfsdksjfkjs despite how much cronkri content i’ve been rebloggin along with some stray mituna’s i still haven’t gotten to em, but so far i like aranea ALOT this woman is legit me when it comes to personality and shit like goddamn intermission 2 part 3 act 6 fuckin had me feeling for her. might change when i ACTUALLY get to the other alpha’s (especially the two dumbasses who stole my heart before i got into this series)

17. Favorite Beta kid? HHHHH tie between john and jade, it’s so fuckin hard john is my cinnamonroll son but jade is just me in a compressed nutshell in some cases.

18. Favorite Beta troll? i can’t choose between my gremlin children! their all so hard to choose! .....-picks up tav- THIS ONE i’ll choose this one! he’s my son i vibe with too fuckin much and deserved BETTER fight me series! ...i mean all of em deserved better but he deserves some pillows atleast!
