really bummed out all my decent portable headphones are broken and the sorry little earbuds I've had to resort to using are looking like they're about to give up the ghost. I found my project headphones box because I thought I had a working pair of ksc75s in there, but no luck. atm, I have a pair of ksc75s that need to be reterminated (I have a pair of old Sony monitors with an aftermarket plug I might pull and reuse). they need new pads too. I have some ksc35s that need the left ear resoldered. and maybe a recable because the plastic has gotten... sweaty. I have a pair of kph30i with a broken arm (do not buy these. they sound good but have atrocious build quality. I've had two pairs now and neither made it a full year). and my fucking Bluetooth speaker is dead and won't charge. gonna try replacing the micro USB socket when I can get my hands on one...

just venting. this shit has put me in a bad mood

I got my custom desktop computer recabled with DisplayPort cables that are certified with the DisplayPort protocol. I had to throw away a DisplayPort cable that's faulty because it's unlikely the store I bought it from will allow an exchange because while it seems faulty, it's more of just badly made. The DisplayPort sockets get pushed in causing it to not fit the DisplayPort female port on the computer. By holding on then pushing the cable into the housing, it brings back out the male socket, I'll be able to connect it and lock it in place. This might be intentional but it doesn't feel right to me. It's probably not intentional, but is lazily agreed that it can still be sold because technically it works, but is just poorly designed.

On another note, the j5create® official store on Shopee rejected my request for refund and shipped out the item. It's been over 12 hours now and they remained uncontactable with no replies to two of my queries to them. It'd be a better idea I leave them a review mentioning this. They are sneaky.

This was an incredibly long week, due to part one of the internet recabling at work (how did it go? we will probably revolt if we don't close to the public for part two. that's how it went), and I am very tired. Also probably coming down with something, though I'm still trying to cling to the power of denial. (If I just think NO loud enough whatever it is will go away, right? Right???)

In any event, I haven't been able to do anything more useful than noodle about in various video games and spend a few possibly delirious moments trying to make the crew of the Luck fit the Five Man Band trope. (spoiler: I just cannot trope right.)

I hope everybody else's weekend is going better.

So I started opening up everything to do a visual assessment - see if any of the circuits are blown or if I have to also recable the whole thing.

I have had this Novara Buzz One single speed stashed at my folks house since 2013 or so. I get to ride the snot out of it two weeks a year if I am lucky and my brother and other visitors to my parents get to use it a bunch as well. I got it for $250 on clearance from REI. Have not changed much except for recabling it this year, new grips a couple years ago and adding the basket. It has been a really great beater and while I can’t get up Gibraltar on it, I can get across the east Mountain drive and from Carpentria up to north of campus with ease. All the bolts are rusting but the clear coat over raw steel is strangely intact. Probably straight gauge 4130 with unbelievably piggy wheels, but a very Very high satisfaction to cost ratio.
