オープニングDJ。RED BARは一晩を通していろいろな顔を持つ。特にアフターまで考えると長い旅だ。ローーングジャーニー！！21時にスタートするこの時間は、ウォームアップしていく時間ではあるが入ってくるお客さんはすでに違うお店ですでにご飯を済ませほろ酔いですでに陽気な気分で来ている人もいて、夜の締めくくりに訪れている場合もある。緩やかに始めるだけではそういったお客さんにとってはつまらない時間になってしまうから陽気な音は必要である。ハウスミュージックは幅広い表現ができてテンポの遅い曲もあるから初めからハウスではじめても成立するのだが、一晩一緒に旅を共にするお店のスタッフのことを考えると初めからハウス一辺倒だと後半にはお腹いっぱいになってしまう。ましてや毎晩のようにハウスを浴びてる人間にとって頭からハウスがかかると食傷気味の体に鞭を打って出発させるようなものだと思う。

選曲で心掛けていることは、箱の大きさにあった音の鳴り、盛り上がり、広がり方。常に箱で鳴らしていることをイメージしながら音楽を選んでいる。大きすぎてもダメだし、リスニング寄りになり過ぎるとお客さんの会話は小声になってしまいクールダウンした雰囲気になってしまう。あとは箱のイメージ(ステレオタイプ)に縛られすぎないこと。誰しもあの箱ならハウスしかり4つ打ちがかかることを予想するが、ときに歌ががっつりあるポップスがハマることもあるし、ヒップホップやファンク、ジャズもちゃんと選べばしっかりと空間に合う。もう一つ心掛けていることは、最新リリースの新しい曲たちで全体の流れを構成すること。これは自分のモチベーションを上げるためにやっているのだが、世に出てき���ばかりの音楽を大きな音で聴き分析する時間にもなるからだ。人が大勢入った状況でのDJではそんなことを考えながらDJすることは不可能でも、オープンの時間だとできるのである。声を大にしていうことではないが、これをやるのとやらないとでは楽しさが全然違う。新しい曲に対して、「こういう系譜で出てきたでしょ？」と古い曲で繋いでみたり、参考にしたであろうジャンルの音楽をレイヤーしてみたり、ちょっとした遊びをやっている。笑

実際にDJをやる際には、大きく路線を変えることがある。冒険を恐れず常に最善な音をあてることを意識している。その際注意しなければいけないのが音量だ。ジャンルが違えば音の密度は変わるしとくに低音の出方には細心の注意を払っている。自分の耳だけで確認しきれない場合は、スタッフの動きを見るようにしている。直接アイコンタクトで教えてくれる時もあれば、動きを見て足が動いているか、顔の表情はくぐもっていないなどを見て判断する。お客さんの反応だけに頼るとこの時間帯は回転も早いし、チグハグなDJになってしまうことが多い。RED BARはローターリーミキサーなので音量の微調整がしやすいが、音の立ち上がりは遅く、曲の音量を一気に下げることは難しく、ヘッドフォンでのモニターを頼りに調整していく。ピッチコントロールよりもオープニングDJはボリュームコントロールが重要かもしれない。

ここまでいろいろ書きましたが、ウォームアップセットに決まったセオリーはないですし、毎回反省し、オーガナイザーやスタッフからのフィードバックを聞き、次への目標をたてています。

入り時間は早いし、お客さんがまばらな状況でのDJは当然楽しいだけではない難しさが常にあるため体力も使うのですが、オープナーという言われるこの時間帯のDJの役目をいつも楽しみながらやっています。

[Full disclaimer i do NOT SUPPORT JONBRO as I type about the works he's made. I just want to share interesting things I had found that I'm not sure anyone else talks about: ASK TO TAG FOR ANYTHING]

If you check the SPECIAL FEATURES of the game (v2.0.2 version, not the Original located in Additional Applications of the flashpoint file) it describes REJECTED RIDDLE GAMES where it shows RIDDLE SCHOOL 5 (BAD)

It's basically like, a shroddy poorly made and very simplw to play riddle school 5 parody that wasn't meant to be an actual game

Now what if I told you... It is an actual game. Or at least a mini gmae within a compilation of games, it's still actually playable as it's own thing instead of just a concept.

It even has the iconic wavey title bar thing, but poorly made (when I drag my cursor across the red line, the redbars just appear as full and then disappear instead of gracefully descending back down)

and then credits roll. And that's it. If you want to play the game for yourself, it's titled "Crap Game Compilation" but it's literally so short and not really worth downloading 6.23MB for. But besides that, there's also another Riddle School game called Riddle Birthday

This game also sucks. End of post
