this is an unfriendly reminder to everyone on tumblr that i'm still incredibly abnormal about katagawa jr. from borderlands 3 so I decided to spout more of my headcanons about him here <3

Katagawa (surprisingly) owns a few items of clothing that aren't Maliwan-branded or colored- he only wears them in private, though, having been raised in an environment that pretty much encourages him to be a walking brand advertisement at all times.

Owns many bottles of fine, expensive wine purely as a status symbol, and doesn't drink them. At all. Doesn't even like them. Does spend an inordinate amount of time preparing and/or drinking margaritas though. He seems like the type of dude who enjoys fruit-flavored drinks + anything with tequila in it.

Touchy. You think this man has ever experienced affectionate touch? Ha. If he actually had any friends who were cool with affection dude would have one hand on their shoulder/back at all times at least. If he ever got to curl up with someone on the couch and watch a movie he'd probably go apeshit because I think casual intimacy would be incomprehensible to his corporate shill-brain.

That man does drugs. Look me in the eyes and tell me you think that Katagawa does not sometimes recreationally use cocaine/ecstasy at least on board that dumbass party yacht of his. Being wasted and in-orbit is absolutely how he spends time whenever the loneliness and meaningful life experience sets in.

Paints his nails, and keeps them nicely manicured. Usually goes for an orange colour, or navy- in keeping with the general Maliwan theme, of course. If he could pick a favourite colour outside of the corporate branding, though? It would be magenta.

Doesn't so much respect his parents as fear them. Overthrowing his siblings and having them killed was one thing- I highly doubt this dude was reared in an environment where he'd feel any affection for his family- but his parents? They're in charge for a reason. They hold the power. Even he wouldn't think of trying to overtake them, for fear of his own life.

4. What's something you've researched but haven't incorporated into your fic?

ermmm ermmm.... ive done a lot of native swana culture research but never been brave enough to really incorporate that beyond a few throwaway lines in fic !!! im too shy LOL

7. What character do you enjoy writing most? Why?

omg i wrote so many... but if i had to boil it down to three it'd be Katagawa, Sasha, and Naoko. For Kat, he's got so much personality and he's just. so animated so writing him is a LOT of fun. he's very rewarding and different stages of his redemption so to speak are really fun to jump around.

For Naoko, she's equally as rewarding imo!! getting to see her change from what little we have in canon to whatever i put her through (sorry girlie ily) makes me feel really rewarded and happy LOL. it's also fun to write her interacting with people and in situations she hasnt previously been through!

and for my dearest darling Sasha... I think it has a lot to do with how complex she is.. she's a much deeper character than people give her credit for so it's always a joy to explore her character and how she ineracts with different people :3 <3

August: 10/10

He doesn't brother wilbur and is the one who listens to wilbur rant about his interests at the time, he keeps Katagawa jr from trying anything and acts as a ghost bigbrother. Theres not much he can do about Thomas so he's past the whole "hating his dad" thing.

Hugo Vazquez: 6/10

He literally doesnt do anything but float around and sometimes floats in to see what august and Wilbur are doing, He avoids jack like the plague. He doesn't feel like bringing back wallet head jokes

Katagawa Jr: 0/10

Wilbur feels uncomfortable when Katagawa jr shows up, he complains about everything and when he fights with august he gets loud which causes wilbur to hide away. This earns Katagawa jr a scolding from august

"He's a child man, leave him alone"

"You have no power over me"

"I'm going to beat your fucking ghost ass in about five seconds"

Handsome Jack: 4/10

Much like rhys, wilbur has enough patience to get through a day with jack but after awhile wilbur needs to tell jack to shut up due to a headache

Now when Jack's angry it's a whole different story, wilbur cannot stand to be around Jack when he's like this and ends up hanging around Vazquez and August while Jack screams in the background

I haven't posted on tumblr for a hot minute but shoutout to katagawa jr. for consuming at least 50% of my brain function at the moment.

He has a high body count both ways. He probably listens to Lady Gaga. He has the inferiority complex of the century and lashes out to define himself and take control of his own life in the only way he CAN when he's been raised to see himself and others as products rather than people. He's under his company's thumb but hey, at least he can party and try to kidnap himself a friend, right? He has a literal barcode tattoo on the back of his neck that I DOUBT he got himself, which is just plain dehumanizing. He has parents who didn't even SCOLD him for killing his siblings, which already tells me everything I need to know about them. He probably wears more hairspray than everyone in my family combined. He probably lies on the ballroom floor on the Zanara wearing a leopard print bodycon dress crying into the ground. He'd probably fire someone if they mentioned it later. He doesn't understand how friendship works and probably thinks threatening to kill someone is just average socialization. He would definitely set his house on fire if he tried to cook.

I have so many thoughts about him <3 gearbox did him so dirty by killing him off so soon and not elaborating more on his story. He should have lived and had the chance to undergo character development and I will die on this hill.

1) this man is GAY

2) ooooh i guess timkat! partially bc u make so much good art for them and just. the idea of both of them having a sort of second chance in their life. yes ❤️. and also partially cause i don’t really ship him with anyone in canon

3) HIM AND RHYS just imagine the chaotic older brother and younger brother dynamic we could’ve gotten from a katagawa redemption arc

4) him and rhys again LMAO unfortunately i physically cannot see any relationship between them being anything more than platonic/familial this dude just needs a friend so bad (and also a lot of the content made for it is uh. it’s questionable at best!)

5) he can play the piano!

6) I HONESTLY THINK KATAGAWA IS ONE OF THE ONLY BLANDS CHARACTERS I DO NOT RELATE TO EVEN A LITTLE BIT BUT UHHHH i too can be very dramatic
