The new library addition opened up back in the fall and it’s been a go to study place since then.

1. Avoid taking the stairwells or any other low traffic area.

2. Don’t walk around campus wearing headphones. A car, bike, golf cart, lawn care or a stranger could take you out.

3. Don’t look at your phone all the time when walking around on campus.

4. Add the campus police phone number to your contacts.

5. Sign up for campus alerts.

6. Keep up with your local news, your campus isn’t isolated from the rest of the town.

7. Be aware of your surroundings when on campus. You never know who comes onto campus that isn’t a student, staff or faculty member.

8. Avoid walking alone, especially at night.

9. Be familiar with emergency exits wherever you are.

10. Let your friends, roommates or family members know where you’re going. If something were to happen to you they would be able to report to someone where you were heading.

11. Learn self defense.

12. Be careful when getting into your car.

13. Lock your door to your room, apartment or house.

14. Download a weather app and set up push notifications. This will alert you of any incoming storms.

15. Use a buddy system when you can.

16. If you ever feel like you’re in danger don’t be afraid to call a friend, roommate, family member or campus police. It’s better to inform someone of what’s going on, even if it was nothing to worry about, than to not inform anyone at all.
