do any of your OCs have body modifications? this could include things as simple or subtle as your “usual” earlobe piercing or a small tattoo, to something more elaborate and noticeable. if they do, does it have a special/personal significance or meaning to them? or did they get it entirely For The Vibe™?

if they don’t have any body mods, have they considered getting some and what would they want? or is it something they have no interest in? do they have an aversion toward any kind of body modifications, be it personal or cultural reasons? 

*note that this question is focused on body mods that the character chose to receive, primarily as self-expression, but if they have a good relationship with/are proud of any body mods tied to the culture they grew up in or are a part of, you can include those, too!

So one of my lesser known ocs, Travis, does have a few tattoos, and one of them is a large, floral sleeve with some pearls mixed in.

The tattoo on his wrist is in honor of his older sister, Grace, who supported Travis after he was kicked out by their dad and moved from the Midwest to California to become a fashion designer. While they're not in close contact (due to the drama their dad caused), they do keep in touch and support one another.

As for the floral sleeve, Travis got a flower to represent the new friends and family he made in his new life, the rose over his heart representing Carmon Corazón, his muse, his sister from another mister, and the first true and real friend he made in a crazy environment like LA. Carmon and Travis' friendship is a strong corner stone for the two of them, he helps ground her when she gets too caught up in the clout that tries to change her and she supports and encourages him back up when he starts to spiral down. He truly adores the Corazón sisters and will do just about anything for them.

Back to the question, Travis uses his tattoos to tell his story and turn it from a source of deep pain to a source of hope and beauty. Some of my more straight laced ocs wouldn't consider tattoos or body piercings for themselves, but some of them can appreciate the dedication and art other do for themselves (and then we have some assholes like Brandis and Xerxes who will openly judge others for it, but they can shove it).

obligatory valentunes oc ask, with a bit of a twist! for any OC you might want to talk about, note their closest relationships (romantic, platonic, familial, whatever) and assign each a number. roll a dice (any dice will do; the mighty dice app or an online randomizer if this is easier!). whatever result you get, share something about that OC's relationship with the other character that you might not have gotten to talk about yet! doesn't have to be about valentines specifically, just. anything about their relationship, how they interact, their dynamic--whatever you like to share when it comes to a valuable person in their life.

(i.e. for cassia, i might write 1-oliver, 2-esme, 3-don, 4-leo, 5-mikey, 6-raph, and roll a 6 sided dice. i roll a 6, so i share something about cassia and raph's relationship!)

Finally, an excuse to use some dice I got back last summer and have yet to use for literally anything.

Since my OC brainrot has been waaaay too focused on Cecilia for the last couple of months, I decided to go back to my girl Iseult. The potential relationships I picked for her

1 - Shouma

2 - Yuuto, Seiji, and Aki (they're a pack)

3 - Donatello

4 - Michelangelo

5 - Mona Lisa

6 - Diarmuid

Aaaaaand... it's number 3. Guess the dice gods decided we needed to go all in for Valentine's day, lmao

So, the two clicked with each other pretty quickly due to both being brainy types; while Iseult's areas of specialty are botany, mycology, and musicology, she's able to keep up in conversations with Don by virtue of coming from an advanced alien species whose technology is centuries ahead of our own. They pretty much end up spending hours discussing things from computing to energy systems, and Iseult even lets Don tinker with some of the gadgets she has on hand so he can learn how they work and apply them to his own inventions. Of course, Don indulges in her interests in well, getting her many books on cultivating fruits, flowers, trees, mushrooms and even helping her set up a hydroponics garden in her hideout (she lives in a basement beneath an abandoned warehouse.)

But more importantly, they're both pretty gentle souls at heart. Iseult has seen... a lot traveling the universe with her adoptive family and by the time she met the turtles, she had almost lost her ability to even trust in others. Coming to Earth to pursue the man responsible for the deaths of her family was probably the best thing to happen to her because she got to spend more time with Don--he single-handedly restored her faith in other people and helped remind her that, for all the evil she has witnessed, there is still much good being done in the smallest of places. They end up talking a lot about the things they want to do, their dreams, all the possible paths to the future, and just a mutual want for a more peaceful, kinder universe, even if that is something seemingly impossible to achieve in their lifetimes.

Besides that, though, they are just such dorks. Naturally, Iseult puts everything into learning about Earth, it's history, culture--and Don is asking so, so many questions about Ioran Domain and what things are like there. ("I'm sorry, the average household has SEVEN TO TWELVE CHILDREN?") Honestly, my favorite mental image is them going to the Natural History Museum in their disguises and Don spending so much time infodumping about dinosaurs while Iseult listens intently. You can practically hear Michelangelo yelling "NERRRRRRRRRDS" in the background, haha

this might be a bit of a weird first question, so i hope it makes sense! 6-6 is there an animal you associate with your OC(s)? if so, why? and, would it be the same animal that might represent their 'avatar' if they were an acolyte for the ninja tribunal (like, do you think the animal you associate with them would also mirror them spiritually?)? given that dragons can be avatars, it doesn't have to be an "existing" animal; it could be extinct, of folklore, or maybe something native to their planet, if your oc isn't from 3rd earth.

a lot of my ocs are already animals or related to animals

a while ago i actually had a “what if my ocs went to the ninja tribunal and got an ‘avatar’?” phase and came up with at least Brooke and Tommy’s.

my first thought for Brooke’s is an owl due to her scholarly demeanor. part of me isn’t sure it fits though, cuz her arc is like,,, complicated. i didn’t wanna just use a wolf which is her usual Animal thing (because, well. she’s a werewolf ¯\_(ツ)_/¯). i tried to find an aquatic animal that suits her since she’s into marine biology and herpetology but nothing really stuck. in any case, i don’t think id give her one for realsies in my fics since she’s not the fighting type and wouldn’t be there with them. at that point in the timeline, she’s studying mutagen with the utrom.

i do associate her with wolves, turtles, and sharks because of her connections mostly. even though the tmnt are usually red eared sliders, sea turtles have stuck out as a motif for her.

Tommy’s is a little bit more interesting and would have played into his character arc though. he’s got a lot of anxiety, so his avatar would start off looking like a scaredy cat, but as he learns to manage it and becomes a little braver, it would slowly start to look more like a lion :)

i associate him more with just his species (softshell turtle), and cats since he’s my “scaredy cat” and he loves animals. also a tiny bit with deer given he’s very quiet, definitely has a deer-in-the-headlights look, and adores being in nature

Isabella: Does she believe in ghosts? On a scale of one to ten, I’ll give her a five in believability. She’s not too much of a skeptic but something also has to happen for her to believe it more. Same with most people. She does become more of a believer with all the experiences she'll have.

Zeph: He does not really dabble in anything supernatural. He might be more of a skeptic than Isa. Now cosmic horror? He's encountering that when he leaves the Triceraton Republic to search for his mother's origins.

Mei-hui: This turtle lady has dealt with the supernatural longer than either of those two. She's somewhat superstitious due to being raised by a superstitious father. Yes, there is a massive difference between ghosts and demons for her. She's kinda an empath on these things.

I hate to piggyback directly off what Tay said but YEAH, your art has a lightness to it!! not just in value (literal light colors) but in that the shading and linework are very soft. it's airy, maybe? and branching off the watercolor comparison, it vaguely makes me think of heika's work. I think I'm spelling that right; it's pumpkin hours and I can't see my bookshelf lD;;;

1. What was your first exposure to TMNT?

The 1987 series was airing when I was very small, and I have vague memories of having it on TV while I was being dressed to go to nursery school! I didn't really become a fan until later (little me found the show slightly confusing), but I did have a favourite turtle! (It was Raph. It's always Raph... ❤)

7. Which iteration is your favorite?

Oof. Ough. I don't know! Right now I am watching 2003 and TOTTMNT and I am enjoying both of them immensely, so they're strong contenders right now?

I loved Mutant Mayhem so much when I first saw it that it managed to plunge me straight back into the TMNT fandom after being away for several years, so that definitely deserves a separate mention too! But honestly there's something good about every iteration I've seen, I think!

21. What is your favorite story arc?

Ooh! I love the Northampton farmhouse arc in every iteration I've seen it in (I'm such a sucker for plots like that...).

I also really like the City at War arc in the Mirage comics - I loved that the characters got separated out and the turtles, April, Casey and Splinter all got something interesting to do.

I'm a big fan of the Triceratons so I love whenever they get involved (I'm only really familiar with them in 2003 and Mirage but I know they show up in other iterations so that's exciting!).

And - unpopular opinion maybe? - but I am currently watching Fast Forward and I'm having a lot of fun with it actually!

29. What is one headcanon that you have?

2003 Raph is AuDHD and aroace. This is actually a fact and not a headcanon, and is also not me projecting at all. 😅

Aura has a special fondness for crisp, clear autumn days. She loves the beautiful fall colours and the pleasantly cooling weather after the summer's oppressive heat (all that floof can be sweltering in hot weather!) She's got fond memories of pumpkin spice lattes when she was human (yep, she was one of those people 😉) and the thrill of the first nip in the air as she flew through the nights when she was a bat.

What she doesn't like is excessive cold. I've gone into it a little before, but she's got chronic pain in her wrists and forearms as a direct result of her mutation (hence why she wears the vambraces). Put simply, growing additional boney spurs from the base of each wrist - which became the supports of her new wings - was not a fun experience. Now, whenever the temperature starts to get frosty in the late fall/early winter, her pain flares up. She can always tell when there's snow on the way.

That, coupled with the fact that her bat genes are telling her to hibernate during the cold months, means she doesn't find winters very enjoyable in NYC.

This leaves her feeling conflicted about the autumn. On the one hand, there's all the reasons she loves it. On the other hand, the season heralds the start of falling temperatures and the rapid approach of winter. It's a bittersweet conundrum.

If you find her with a sombre look on her face and a far off glaze in her eyes in mid September, she's probably dwelling over that very issue 😅 How can you long for something so much, yet dread it's arrival at the same time?

All good my friend! For Isabel, I associate hummingbirds with her~ They have lots of symbols and representation depending on country and culture, but common joy, courage, strength (especially in Aztec culture where they are reborn warriors and women who passed in childbirth), and freedom. All of these things either represent traits I feel Isabel embodies or traits she is working towards finding in herself. I think she would have a hummingbird be represented as her avatar if it was the option. Funny enough, I also have another creature I associate with her. the lindwrym (specifically from the tale of the Lindwrym Prince). Isabel has a tendency to build up walls around herself, layering herself in order to feel safe, but it can be to her detriment. Removing the layers to her true self is a struggle, but in the end, needed to be her truest self around those she loves. I hope this answered your question!

While neither of them have any major body modifications, both Iseult and Cecilia have pierced ears! It actually does end up being a bit of a sore point for Cecilia after she turns into a turtle because her ears were basically reduced to tiny flaps of skin, so she can't wear them like she used to. (Though she eventually figures out that she can just pin them to her mask.)

As for why they got them, Iseult was from a well-to-do family, so getting her ears pierced was pretty much the norm and she's quite happy to wear earrings from time to time when she has the opportunity to look nice. Cecilia's was technically by choice, although given how, er, controlling the Foot is, she had to come up with excuse that it would help her look more like a Normal™ teenage girl whenever she was out posing as just another citizen for a mission. (There's kind of a whole symbolism deal with her interest in jewelry/accessories being used to represent her hidden want to be more of individual and have agency for herself, something that she doesn't even realize herself.)

kind of branching off a previous question: how literate is/are your OC(s)? are they a strong reader in their first language (assuming their first language can be written)? can they read languages other than their first language and, if so, how well? do they enjoy reading as a hobby or past-time, or is it something they only do as day to day life requires it? if they enjoy reading as a hobby, what sorts of things do they enjoy reading?

bonus: can they write? if so, i repeat all previous questions, but for writing ability. and how good is their penmanship (if they write with a utensil and not a keyboard)?

brooke is bilingual and fluent in both english and spanish. spanish is moreso verbal for her but she can read, too--she just prefers to read in english since her schooling revolved more around english reading. when it comes to english, she has a very firm understanding of what she reads and how to write exactly what she means (although if you ask her to define a specific word on the spot, she might get a little tongue tied. but she does know what the word means). she writes her own stories in english as well.

tommy is also bilingual in spanish and english, but he has a firmer grasp on spanish than english (mostly because brooke usually spoke spanish with her grandparents and that's mainly where tommy lived--down in florida). he can't read or write either until brooke starts teaching him, but he picks it up fairly quickly.

t’ytian… can’t read. or write. salamandrians mainly document things via videography, or for their more ancient/old school stuff, it’s carved into walls and is similar to how hieroglyphics work—mainly focusing on telling the story through pictures and having most symbols be literal with what they symbolize. he knows the verbal language of his people, and while on earth, he has practiced learning bits of english, but usually relies on his translator.

cam, despite having jewish heritage, has made it her mission to be the disappointment and not learn the language. she is averagely literate, but prefers movies and shows over books. she does write occasionally, but it’s small bits and pieces and if you ask her to talk about it, she’ll sound like she’s talking about a movie that only exists in her head (which… it is).

finn is fluent is several languages, but they depend on the iteration/origin story. some include english, italian, the common languages used in the hidden city or battle nexus, and a few others.
