A/N: In jest, @averbaldumpingground challenged me to write all 20 prompts from this fake dating list. Well, joke’s on my friend, I accepted the challenge. I’m doing 500-word ficlets for each, using different fandoms/ships.
Modern Non-Magical AU.
6. “You know we’re not actually dating, so why did you propose to me in front of my family?” “I’m sorry, I panicked.” —OUAT, Outlaw Queen (ao3)
Tumblr media
DISASTER AVERTED
“What the hell was that?!” Regina hissed once they were far enough away from the cabin.
“I don’t know! I panicked, alright?” Robin ran a hand over his face.
This weekend was turning into an unmitigated disaster. A little voice warned him that it would be, but had he heeded it? Of course not. He was an unadulterated fool when it came to Regina Mills, especially when she’d been so earnest and vulnerable, begging a favor from him of all people.
The plan was simple enough: act as her longtime beau during a short holiday with her estranged family. Cora was the viper that Regina warned her mother would be, but it was Zelena who had gotten under his skin. Every word that fell from that abominable woman’s lips was either a passive aggressive insult against her sister or a tawdry invitation for him—the latter given in private. Her hand on his thigh during dinner had been the final straw.
He shot out of his seat and toasted Regina. One moment he was revering her best qualities and the next, he was kneeling, asking her to marry him. Her eyes rounded in horror, but she recovered quickly, accepting his proposal with a wide, fake grin. He made the debacle even worse by embracing her enthusiastically and kissing her.
Actually, that last bit hadn’t been so bad. It was rather glorious, and he wouldn’t be opposed to doing it again. And again. And—
“Hello?” Regina snapped her fingers in front of his face.
Right, right. Not the point. He tore his eyes away from her full lips.
“I don’t even know how to fix the mess you just made. Have you completely lost your mind?” She threw her hands up in the air with a huff.
He laughed abruptly. Because yes. He’d gone a little mad the first moment she knocked on the door to his flat a little past nine o’clock at night and shoved a copy of the noise ordinance at him with a fetching sneer. He’d opted to finish hanging his pictures the next morning.
“My mother is planning our wedding as we speak.” Regina crossed her arms over her chest and glared at him. She was absolutely breathtaking, and he was tired of pretending he didn’t notice.
He closed the short distance between them, catching the apprehension that flickered across her beautiful features.  “Let her.”
Her gaze turned flat. “Robin—”
“Tell her we want a year-long engagement,” he spoke over her.
She seemed to consider it. “Then we can call it off after a couple months.”
“No.”
She stared at him. “No?”
“No break-up.” He sucked in a breath and told her the truth. “I want to give this—us—a go.”
“You do?” There it was—that fractured vulnerability beneath her biting veneer.
He nodded. Before he could utter another word, she grabbed the lapels of his coat and planted her mouth over his.
He’d laugh if he wasn’t too busy deepening the kiss.

I'm genuinely tweaking cuz why is it so hard to find a good ouat fic??? They're either peter pan/felix fics or just really bad ones that were made in like 2013. The struggle is real 😫

ROBIN HOOD S5 RANT
Would you consider me mentally unstable if I told you that during my first watch of OUAT, I cried for 30 minutes straight after watching Robin Hood get killed?
Y-You would?
*coughs* well then, it’s a good thing I definitely didn’t do that . . . 😳
. . . okay maybe I did, BUT in all fairness, while I was of course crying because Robin was dead, a large part was over the fact that Regina’s happiness was once again stripped away from her, AND FOR WHAT REASON?!
I mean c’mon, she had redeemed herself countless times up until this point, I’d say she’d more than earned it. And honestly, Robin made her SO much better, he was one of the best things that ever happened to her and yet, look at how his story ended.
He did not deserve this at all.
Seriously, who was Robin’s living affecting? nobody.
Hell, the reason he died was because he threw himself infront of Regina, saving her from dying at Hades’ hand. And you’re telling me that’s NOT someone who deserves to be revived from the underworld?!
(yes I know Hades said the crystal that killed Robin blinked him from existence, but for some reason a part of me thinks Hades was bluffing, just to screw with Regina even more. There has to be some world where Robin’s soul is currently at. And in my mind, Robin’s at peace in this other world and watching over the Swan-Mills-Charming-Stilskin Squad and their adventures while also just waiting for the day that Regina, Henry, Roland, Nobin and the others will eventually join him.)
What makes his death a hundred times worse is that, like Regina said to Emma, it’s not fair that Hook got to come back from the dead, but Robin didn’t.
Look at it this way, before their redemptions, Hook was a pirate that would sail the seas, pillaging and killing hundreds of people with zero remorse, but Robin? He was just a common pickpocket. Not trying to hate on Killian because he did end up redeeming himself after coming to Storybrooke, but looking at it from the angle of Robin and Hook's wrongdoings, Killian seems to deserve a fate of death more than Robin. I feel like if anything, Robin has probably only killed one or two people ever, and it was most likely in self defence or something.
Oh, and another thing- Hook mentions that he was revived as a reward for helping defeat Hades. Uhhhh . . .
. . . WHAT THE HELL WAS ROBIN DOING WITH THE GROUP IN THE UNDERWORLD THEN? WHAT, HE JUST TAGGED ALONG FOR THE FUN OF IT? NO, HE HELPED THE SQUAD DEFEAT HADES.
And he helped just as much as Hook did, even more so, in my opinion. If Robin hadn’t sacrificed himself, Regina wouldn’t have had the time to knock the crystal away from Hades. And if Regina hadn't knocked it away from Hades then Zelena wouldn’t have been able to grab it and use it to kill him. Hook, he got the missing book pages to Emma, who was outside the building when Zelena killed Hades. Even if the pages hadn’t reached Emma, Robin and Regina would’ve still been in the office with Hades and the crystal. But, I’ll give Killian credit; if he hadn’t gotten the pages to Emma, she wouldn’t have tried breaking the protection spell on the building, and then Robin and Regina probably wouldn’t have had a diversion to sneak in the office.
Just another little note, I HATE how they gloss over the funeral and his death in general. I don’t feel as though everybody’s reaction to it were really touched upon in the following episodes.
All in all, I’m just so upset at how badly they screwed up this epic couple and storyline. Robin didn’t deserve to die. Regina didn’t deserve to watch another True Love die in her arms.
They both deserved better.
Sorry for the rant, I’m just REALLY passionate about this topic

I've been rewatching Once Upon a Time for the fifth time recently and I've begun to notice a few similarities between Dinbo and Regina and Robin Hood's relationship (Outlaw Queen). There is so many striking parallels between them that I'll note here -
Din and Robin are both men that follow strict codes. In Robin's case, it is stealing from the rich and giving to the poor. With Din, he follows the way of the Mandalore and is a devoted member of his creed.
Regina and Bo want to redeem themselves for past sins in their life. For Regina, she wants to become a better person after all the atrocities she caused during her reign as The Evil Queen, by doing so she wants to find the author and get her happy ending. Bo's actions serving the death watch on Mandalore led to its downfall. She wants to atone for her mistakes with the darksaber when she gave it up to Moff Gideon by retaking her home planet from imperial rule.
The love confession scene between Robin and Regina in S4 ep7/8 where Robin explains to her that even though he follows his own code (ie. Being with Marian, his Robin Hood stance etc.), loving her is the right thing to do is somewhat reminiscent of Din pledging his allegience to Bo in the latest episode. I found it to be a nice parallel.
"There are reasons I serve you, Lady Kryze. Your song is not yet written. I will serve you until it is"
"If being with you has taught me anything. It's that we all have the capability to change. And the future is not yet written by our past. Regina, you are my future."
Overall, that's the only similarities I could point out. I wanted to share this because that whole scene between them in S4 and the arcs they go through leading up to that point gave me Dinbo vibes.

HELP ME FIND A FIC (outlaw queen)
idk if anybody will be able to help bc not many people read OQ fics anymore, but there is a fic i read once a while back and i cannot find it anywhere. i don’t remember if it was on ff.net or ao3 or if it was a one shot or not but it was a missing year fic in which regina got stung or bitten or otherwise poisoned by something and began to get sicker and sicker with fever until she started hallucinating. HOWEVER, there are (at least) two distinct stories with this exact plot because there is one i keep finding that i know is NOT the one i’m looking for (it’s also great it’s just not the specific one i’m trying to find lol). the one it is NOT has three chapters and regina sort of quarantined herself on a dusty cot in an abandoned room and robin took care of her because he had contracted the same illness or been stung by the same venom before so he was immune and also we saw regina’s hallucinations from her perspective. i’m pretty sure in the one i’m looking for, we only see her hallucinations from robins perspective and she’s in her chambers the whole time she is sick. sorry if this is too confusing or too vague but if anybody can help me that would be awesome!

Broken Open
Season 4, episode 11: Shattered Sight
I’m currently doing an OUAT rewatch and I had to write this little one-shot in which Regina reveals to Robin what happened to her during the curse of shattered sight because there was never any acknowledgement that Emma purposefully goaded the Evil Queen and DIDN’T LOCK THE DOOR BEHIND HER.
My main point here is not Emma’s forgetfulness/thoughtlessness but the damage this could have done to Regina had she harmed someone after locking herself away so as not to do so because the poor woman was terrified at the very thought and, once again, she was used.
I did love the little canon laughing scene between the Charmings and Regina because we love growth but yeah…this is a little conversation (among so many others that I’m sure I’m gonna need to write as I continue to rewatch) that I feel needed to happen.

It’s hard to spot her at first through the ever-growing throng of people gathered on Main Street and he wonders how this had become the official post-spell meeting place but it’s only for a moment as, through heavy blinks to keep the snow from blurring his vision, he spots her dark hair swinging about her shoulders as she pulls Henry in for a tight hug. His breathing eases a little as he sprints towards her, no visible sign of injury.

“Regina!” he calls as he grows nearer, giving her only a second to turn before he’s gathering her up in his arms. They’ve not had the conversation yet about whether or not she will allow him back into her life and her heart – he can’t return to Marian, was foolish to believe he could and he hates that he is still unable to tell his late-returned wife, but he physically can’t be apart from Regina, he just can’t. Pre-Marian’s return, they hadn’t had much of a chance to explore their relationship in public – they hadn’t had too much time in private either, but he won’t dwell on that – so he’s unsure if she’s okay with this, with his blatant display of affection for all of Storybrooke to see but he’s been absolutely frantic to see her from the moment his vision cleared, and his senses returned with the snow.

“Thank Merlin, you’re okay,” she whispers as she curls a cold hand around the back of his neck, seemingly as worried about him as he was about her.

He pulls back to get a proper look at her, at eyes that move as quickly around his own face, cataloguing. There is a small scratch at the base of her throat, an angry dark line of dried blood, and he frowns as he cups her cheek before thumbing gently at the redness of her temple. She hisses quietly and his eyes find her own, questioning. She was to seal herself in her vault, that’s what she had told him when they’d last spoke. When she’d been trembling with fear at what this spell was going to unleash in her.

“Regina, I’m not afraid of you.”
“But you really, really should be.”
He wants to ask her what happened, who did this to her, but the prince’s voice cuts across the noise of the street.

David stands in the midst of the crowd, his arm around his wife as he announces, “We’d like to ask you all to join us at Granny’s for some celebratory drinks.”

The overwhelming consensus is agreement. The crowd hums their acceptance and begins to shuffle towards the hub of Storybrooke, the Charmings leading the way. Regina doesn’t move though, not yet.

He turns and watches as she takes a gentle hold of Henry’s hand, telling him that she’ll meet him there shortly. He eyes her warily, looking to Robin with the same questions he is sure are visible in his own eyes, before looking back to her and nodding reluctantly. “I’ll save you guys a seat.”

Regina smiles wetly at her boy, pulling him in and pressing a kiss to his cheek before watching as he jogs to make up the short distance between himself and his other mother.

“What happened?”

She turns and that smile has finally fallen from her lips, her neck bobbing as she swallows thickly and drops her eyes to her boots.

“Regina?”

He almost doesn’t have time to react when she quickly grasps at his hand, lifts her eyes to his and lifts her other hand in a swift upwards motion, his stomach roiling at the sudden pull of her magic. It’s different to anything he’s ever experienced, travelling this way with her and though it’s over almost as quickly as it started, he can still feel the velvety comfort as it engulfed him.

“Sorry,” she tells him once his eyes have readjusted. They’re in her office, the fire roaring to life with only a simple look from Regina. “I just needed a moment before we join them.”

Robin nods his understanding both at the urgency of their departure and her need for it, this was never going to be an easy battle for her, and it appears she’d fared worse than what he’d hoped. She goes to move from him, to turn away and work away at the anxious energy he can practically see vibrating in the air around her but first, he murmurs a soft, “Regina?” smiling softly at her when those flighty eyes meet his own and tugging gently on her hand, bringing her in to him but allowing her the time to pull away. When she doesn’t, he lifts a hand to her jaw and leads her lips to meet his own in a purposefully tender kiss. It’s much like the one they’d shared when she’d come to warn him of the spell’s nearness, when she’d clutched at him as though her very life depended on it. He needed to be her anchor, to reassure her that he would not be moved by man nor beast, by natural or magical force. This is where he belongs, and this is where he’ll stay for as long as she’ll have him.

Regina only presses closer to him when their lips part, wrapping her arms around his back and pressing her face into his neck. The breath she takes is deep and shaky, has him enveloping her all the more in his embrace. Safety is what she craves and it’s what he’s giving her, his love for her pouring into her from his very soul. He’ll give her all he has if she needs it.

“I could have killed them, Robin…” she whispers after a long quiet moment, her breath raising goosebumps on the skin of his neck as his hand moves over her back in soothing passes.

He’s confused, “Who, my love?” because she’d locked herself away…or perhaps she hadn’t managed to get that far. It was a possibility. He’d barely secured himself to the tree before all sense had been stolen from him by tiny shards.

“Snow, Charming…”

“But you didn’t, you-“

“The baby.”

His hand stops at that, through sheer surprise alone but she takes it as disgust, must, because she’s quickly pulling free of his grasp and turning from the judgement she believes he holds for her now. His hand catches hers though and stops her from moving too far away by holding rather than restraining. He won’t use force on her today or ever, but he needs her to stop before her dark thoughts engulf her, take her too far from him.

He laces their fingers together, a silent gesture of unity and comfort – he hopes – that has her turning her head and looking at their joined hands before she’s looking slowly up at his face with a trembling lip.

Robin tilts his head slightly, an invitation for explanation or for none at all should she choose because he trusts her to share what she wishes with him and needs her to see that trust for what it is and she must see at least a little of it because, after allowing a solitary tear to stain her cheek, she pulls him gently with her to sit on the couch, their knees touching and hands clasped atop her thighs.

Regina takes a moment to compose herself before she’s lifting red, watery eyes to his own, looking utterly devastated. “Emma broke the seal on my vault.” His brow furrows confusedly, anger simmering gently in his belly. He wants to rage instantly but he won’t. She wants to tell him, to confide in him and his rage won’t do any good in this moment, so he merely squeezes gently at her fingers, offering comfort as he nods for her to continue. “She needed my magic to destroy the ribbons Ingrid was using to keep them from hurting her. She told me she’d brought Marian back on purpose,” she shifts uneasily in her seat and swallows thickly, tears marking wet paths down her cheeks, and he can see it pains her to think of despite knowing it is not the truth. “She said she wanted to break my heart, to destroy my happiness much like her own mother had so I threw a fireball at her. It destroyed the bracelets, did what she wanted but I truly wanted to incinerate her right there and then, Robin. It’s a rage I haven’t felt in so long, haven’t wanted to feel but I did feel it. I felt it seeping into every fibre of my being and I welcomed it.”

“It was the curse, Regina.”

She shakes her head, but her fingers squeeze at his. She knows this, his comfort isn’t needed here, not yet. “She didn’t seal the vault when she left, she just ran without looking back, without caging me back up like the rabid animal I was.”

He’s grateful for her use of past tense there.

“I was free to go wherever I pleased, to roam the town freely and do with it what I wished because Emma Swan had no thought for anything other than her own ends and I know she was racing to save us all but her carelessness could have cost her her whole damn family, Robin. And if I had hurt them…if I’d have succeeded in what I’d sought for so long all those years ago…it would have destroyed me. If I’d have hurt that child, Robin…I-“ she cuts off as her throat grows too tight, her voice thick with sorrow as she lifts her hands to cover her crumpling expression as she practically falls forward into him in a silent plea for him to hold her while she pours out every ounce of grief she feels within her.

His arms wrap easily around her as she fits against him just like she was made to do, his soul reaching out to her own, asking her to forgive herself because it was not her fault. “You’re not that person anymore, Regina.” He whispers into her hair, doubting she can even hear him over those heart-breaking cries, but he continues to do so regardless as he rocks them gently.

He’ll give her as long as she needs in his arms, as long as she needs to break herself open because he will be here to help put her back together again. And then, when she’s ready, they will join the rest of the town in the diner to celebrate because, though she doesn’t realise it yet, this is probably the biggest step she’s taken in such a very long time on her road to healing. Recognising the progress she’s made, the hard work she’s put in to create this strange, patchwork family that surrounds her. And when Regina is happily chatting away to her son or his, when she’s good and distracted, he will pull Emma Swan aside and explain to her just how close she’d come to losing both her family and her new friend today.

For now though, he’s content to stroke Regina’s hair as she continues healing in his arms. Glad for every breath he can feel across his tear-dampened skin because it means she’s here with him.

1: I like how he had that “oh just kiss me” lean in as she walked by lol. 2: I always loved how they went from “I’m listening” to “I wanna kiss you“ whenever they reached past each other for something multiple times. it was one of the most romantic things I’ve seen since The Look on soaps! like when Elijah would spin Hayley around on The Originals lol

A Slice of Life (An Outlaw Queen Fic)
Hey guys! This is a new pairing for me, I've never written anything OQ before even though I think they're absolutely adorable together, but my pal @stardreamer28 has been having a rough couple of days and was hoping for somebody to write her a ficlet, and since she also loves OQ I decided to give it a shot! Idk what counts as a ficlet vs. a fic, but it's a short'n'sweet one-shot, that's the point. It's kind of an idea of what it would've been like if Regina and Robin got their happy ending and just got to be a family with their boys, because nuts to Hades ruining everything! Read on and enjoy!
Regina watched the boys playing together from a spot on a shaded park bench, one leg crossed elegantly over the other and a fond smile on her perfectly-reddened lips. Henry was teaching Roland some of the sword fighting moves he had learned from David with sticks. Regina imagined it wouldn’t be too long before Robin started teaching Roland some moves of his own—with a bow and arrow, although probably the ones with suction cups on the ends instead of sharp points.
Roland was the sweetest little boy; those big round eyes were absolutely irresistible. They were the reason Regina had gone out for ice cream so many times lately. Besides, he had his father’s puppy dog look when he wanted to spend time with Regina, and Regina could never say no to either of them with that face.
Speaking of Robin…he came up from behind the bench and kissed the top of Regina’s head, waving to the boys. He’d been giving a seminar on wilderness safety at the high school, so Regina had moved her city council meeting back to six so they would still have time for dinner.
“Come on, Henry!” Regina called, standing up. She took Robin’s hand as the four of them walked back into downtown Storybrooke. It gave her a pleasant little warm feeling, right in the part of her heart she had once believed to be permanently frozen, to feel his fingers intertwined with hers, and to catch the little smile on Robin’s handsome face as he snuck adoring glances at her. Even better was the way their sons walked ahead of them, Roland pointing at people who passed them and asking Henry if they were in the storybook. Most of them weren’t, but he was such a curious little boy, and he already knew that nobody knew more about people’s fairytale pasts than Henry.
Dinner was at Granny’s, as usual. Robin and Henry ordered hamburgers, which Regina hadn’t been surprised to learn was one of Robin’s favorite Storybrooke foods. Roland got an order of chicken nuggets (he wasn’t adventurous enough to try to burgers yet), and Regina got fried chicken with mashed potatoes. There was no way she would ever touch one of Granny’s lasagnas—she had standards.
After dinner, they walked back to the house together before Regina had to go to the town hall. Once they were a few streets away, Roland and Henry raced each other back…not that it was much of a contest, with how much longer than Roland’s legs Henry’s were.
“See you later,” Regina said, stopping at the front gate and kissing Robin’s cheek. “Make sure the boys get their homework done.”
“I’m on it,” Robin said, with one of those soft, dashing smiles that Regina could never get enough of. “Have fun at your meeting, love.”
“Very funny.” Council meetings were boring, when there weren’t issues of villainous threats and life and death to worry about. “I’ll be home around eight.”
Regina waited at the gate to watch Robin go into the house. She loved doing that; it was such a joy to her that Robin Hood lived there with her, and that they had blended their little families together there as well. And she looked forward to coming home every night even more than she had before, knowing she had two new people to come home to, and a fiancee to cuddle up with at night.
But first, there was a meeting, and she was already running late.
