my dear, beautiful, splendid fandom-mates:

so i was fucking around with @saltandlimes in about mid-october, as we do, and the subject of parody songs came up. i happened to mention that in my family, christmas carol parodying is a semi-professional sport. “do tell,” she said.

about ten minutes later the words for this were done. about ten minutes after that, i went, “hold on. this needs to be a thing.”

i figured i could handle the music, but i couldn’t do this alone. so i pulled every last shred of nerves together and messaged all my favourite kylux cartoonists. i nearly cried when everyone wanted to join in on this nonsense. i couldn’t believe it. and the art i got just knocked my socks off.

@wyomingnot supplied invaluable vidding advice. @pidgy-draws and @pixiepunch supplied moral support. and my lovely husband put up with my voice acting.

Hi! I'm kinda new to kylux and I have been lurking on blogs for all the old goodies back when it was a more active fandom, and i was wondering if you know why some artists kinda disappeared on thin air? i'm seeing their art on reblogs but they have deleted their tumblrs as well as their other social media, and i was wondering if you may have idea what happened to them or if they simply changed name and that's why i can't find them anywhere? the ones i'm thinking are parttimedragon, hicstreme0, reiburger. All extremely talented a real shame if they stopped making art... :c -Katt

Hey lovely, first a heartly welcome to the Kylux fandom 🧡🖤.

I don’t know much what happened to them exactly. But some changed to Twitter after the nsfw ban here on tmblr, others moved on or into other fandoms, TLJ and TROS were also a reason why some of them left and some sadly left because of very bad behavior from a very negative and toxic part of the fandom.

Be it as it may, I would say, our fandom is beautifully active and creative right now. With huxloween, KBB, year of kylux, zines and all the other amazing events going on over the year and it’s full of lovely people.

I try to reblog the old art as often as possible, so they’ll be cherished and won’t be forgotten. If you have other questions, my dm’s are always open :).

Hm, what a good question. My initial reaction is sort of Reylo-oriented, but I don’t want to ship it, haha. I guess within TFA fandom I have a small interest in Rey/Phasma, like, aesthetically and for some other reasons, and I’ve definitely read a few works in that vein, but it just doesn’t have enough hooks in it for me beyond a minor indulgence.

R: A pairing you ship that you don’t think anyone else ships.

Well, I don’t know about “anyone else,” but the pure thrill of the logically and chronologically impossible Hux/Thrawn is hilarious and amazing to me.

lol really?? with Gee and Genie, I'm much more used to the Japanese versions so they don't sound weird. 

i'm kind of wondering about the politics of this japanese / korean versions now. whatevs, i feel less like a weirdo singing along to the japanese versions so i tend to play those.

they're a Korean group, yeah. a lot of Kpop bands do Japanese versions of their songs for Japanese release. SNSD "debuted" in Japan while I was studying abroad there and Gee and Genie were the big singles...
