What does this have anything to do with Scott, I hear you thinking. Stick with me now. Parents tend to like a cohesive theme when it comes to children. We know Scott has an older sister name Albertha, or just Al if you don't have time, but we never hear of any other siblings. I live in the country, so I have first hand experience that farm families tend to have lots of kids, so whose to say Scott doesn't have more, unnamed siblings?? And maybe all the girls have A names.... I CAN HEAR YOU TYPING: "But Erin, Scott lives on a dirt farm!! Sugar's family has enough money to put her in commercials and do pagents!!" Scott appearing on the show probably earned him some money, and if not, his time in the robot keeping him alive probably got his family some reimbersment from the producers and the network. Maybe they put that money toward Sugar's pagent career!!

Lets put some numbers to this to make it clearer. Say you have $100 mil in stock with a particular company. And the stock price doubles. So its now worth $200 mil. You now have $100 mil in 'unrealized' gains. So if the unrealized gains tax is 25% you owe $25 mil.

But heres the kicker: You dont actually have $25 mil to pay that. That $200 mil mentioned above isnt cash you can pay your taxes with. Its what you would hypothetically have if you were able to sell all your stock at the current price*.

So how do get $25 mil in cash? You sell your stock holdings. You'd actually have to sell more than $25 mil worth since by selling it you are now required to pay on the 'realized' gains(and dont even get me started on 'paying a tax to get money to pay a tax.'), but more importantly, since you wont be the only person in this scenario of having to sell your stock to pay your tax on 'unrealized' gains, what stocks you have left will be worth substantially less. Porentally leaving you even worse off than when you started. What do you think the odds are that the IRS will let you get reimbersed or exempted for those losses?

*and if you are wondering 'how do you have $100 mil in stocks, and not money in a bank account?' Most uber-rich people keep the majority of their cash in investments, instead of in spendable cash. This really isnt that crazy a scenario.

Why is a tax on unrealized gains so bad? if anything it seems more efficient since it doesn't punish people for transacting. Is the fear that the underlying asset is illiquid so people couldn't afford to hold it even if it was profitable? Is it just that the accounting would be annoying?

It destroys people. It leverages a tax on people, sometimes a higher amount than they've ever owned in their life, on the theory that maybe they will make that money in the future.

There has to be like a system of insurance for non-fatal / non-injurious quirks. Like I imagine being turned into a child/ animal/ slime/ pheromone bomb/ incubus/ gender bent versions of one self  constitute a disruption in life worth getting insured. 

Which implies that there is an entire industry where the daily conversation includes discussing things like time of transformation, and cost of supplies for your new form, and like... reimbersal for a door you had to gnaw through as a dog.

Waking up your felt woozy, your thoughts were clouded and your body was heavy. Not heavy really it felt more like you were stuck in gelatin. It took so much out of you to open your eyes. Even when you did your vision was bleary. You tried listening for anything specific but you heard nothing. Not even the rain, it was raining right? Right?! And god what were you sleeping on? It definitely wasn't a bed, you knew that. You wracked your brain trying to remember where you were or at least how you got here.

2 Hours Earlier:

You looked back over your shoulder to see the same pair of eyes that had be roaming your body the ever since you sat down at the bar. There he was, still in the same spot. The man looked nice enough slacks, sweater, and a simple coat over it. Your eyes met and you quickly looked away. Ugh, what were you doing here? Yes you qere looking for a hook-up, someone to scratch an itch. But now that you were here without your girlfriends to encourage you were having second thoughts. 

Looking back once more you saw the man approach you. He sat next to you with a kind smile under his beard. 

"Is this seat taken?" he asked.

"No, please," you gestured at the seat granting him permission.

He stuck out his hand, "Martin."

You smiled taking it for a shake, "Y/N."

"Would it be too direct of me to buy you a drink?" 

"I hope you're not looking for reimbersment," you teased.

He laughed at that, "Welp my plans for the night are soiled."

"You might still get a happy ending, you'll just have to be patient," you cocked your head with a cheeky smile.

You spent the next few hours getting chatted up by the handsome man. Yoi knew the confidence you were gaining was only temporary but that's what you were looking for anyways. And he smelled so good, and his smile looked like was saved only for you, and your drinks were definitely getting to you, even though he suggested drinking water in-between. 

"Alright, I'm calling it a night, are you joining me or not?" you asked bluntly.

"You sure, I don't want you to think you have to."

Hopping off the bar stool you stood between his legs, "But I want to,  definitely want to." 

Martin grinned, "If you insist."

Present:

Tears glistened your eyes as you remembered leaving the bar. You went to his car and next thing you knew something was over your nose and the world got dark. -'Free' College is in the same boat. For all the people who have degrees already, are they going to get reimbersed? Am I going to get Reimbersed for my college education? I saved up and worked my ass off to pay for my college because I had no elligibility for Financial Aid. (I'm White and Male. I REAAAALLLY wish I coulda used some of that White Privilege people keep talking about.... Everyone else in the class that was non-white and female had access to Financial Aid and were confused when I told them I couldn't get any.)

-Bernie says he's going to tamper with taxing the Stock Market to pay for the Free College. Okay, so, I don't understand that side of economics, the stock market is confusing to me, but I understand that if the Stock Market Crashes stuff goes to SHIT, and tampering with it via taxes does not seem, uh, safe for the economy.

-$15 Hr Jobs exist. They usually are entry level jobs in fields that people have went to get higher education for. Jobs that require NO education, like Fast Food Work, Retail, Stocking Shelves, and so on are minimum wage for a reason. They are the most simplistic Jobs you can have. The skillset for them are not that high, yet you want to jack the wages up for them as if they are doing to same work as someone who works on Airplanes? (Starting Pay for some companies on the Aviation Industry is $15 to $18 an hour.) Someone who learned the trade, paid for it, and has literal LIVES depending on his work is now going to have to see Fast Food Workers flipping burgers make the same money as him? When he put in the money and work to get where he is? Huh... Okay... God I can't imagine EMT workers' faces... They ACTUALLY have lives depending on them and have to see hellish scenes every day and Fast Food Workers feel like they DESERVE to make as much as them? Jesus Christ the amount of entitlement.

-Free Weed... Eh, I'd be on board with that. I mean, I don't do it but I see no issue with it. I'd say legalize all drugs. I'd also say that anyone in jail that is serving time for having weed should be released and have their criminal history scrubbed clean. (Unless they were involved in other crimes. Just the Drug Related History should be scrubbed clean.)

Congress is going to pay for the wall, then Mexico will reimberse through a lump sum payment. And if Mexico doesn’t want to repay us with a lump sum, they will repay us through trade deals that I make. We haven’t spoken to each other since I was supposed to meet you at Alliance Francais and we both got the dates wrong -- the Three Muses, and I had pearls for my sister.

We never made plans for Tigre and Ian Fuerza but now is a fine time, when I showed up Alliance Francais there were in a sense some old ESU Classic Membes and I believe some CIA Officers Old Guard,, along with Nikki HIlton, and Michael Bloombergs Daughter and Billionaire Heiresses.

It was war, but, for that night, it was a secret meeting at Alliance Francais much ado about Art with the halls paintings about the Romanian Revolution.

As you know I am dean of the Army War College (An Montserrat) of Carlisle computer science program, it’s a secret program, and they just named the school of Public Health and Geoeconomics at Wharton and UPENN after yours truly. Unlike at any other school or even University of CHicago BFI BOCP, my family can get direct furlough as opposed to reimbersement...

At Penn it will be a NOAA School so it will be an ideal station, regarding my post as head of CTI at Montserrat AMWC, it’s also a great option -- which I espouse since I am dean and you’ll make the good choice yourself about which stations they will go and what particular time. As long as they get there to AWC at Carlisle, they will acquit themselves. They will have to be recruited, they cannot apply, the average age as I heard is unheard of, some say it’s 51.

UC BFI BOCP is indeed Brookings, and it would be good towards Post Doc. They lent me an institution to my name as Brookings Ocampo for post doc so it’s up to how this will go for their education. I assure you it’s important they receive intelligence training before BFI BOCP. We can groom them for AWC and NOAA
