Benefits of Using a Rental Script for Your Rental Business
Tumblr media
Establishing and managing a rental business can be a difficult task. From managing reservations to maintaining inventory and ensuring smooth customer service, the tasks are numerous and often complex. However, utilizing technology, specifically a rental script, may simplify these processes and provide numerous advantages. Here's why implementing a rental script into your rental business may be so beneficial.
1. Streamlined booking process
A rental script makes the booking process easier for both you and your clients. With a user-friendly interface, users can quickly examine accessible items, pick their rental period and place reservations. Automated email confirmations and reminders lower the risk of missed bookings and enhance the overall user experience.
2. Improved customer experience
A well-designed rental booking script gives clients a simple interface to explore, reserve, and pay for rentals. Real-time availability, rapid confirmations, and simple payment methods improve the client experience, resulting in better satisfaction and repeat business.
4. Scalability
As your rental business expands, handling a growing number of bookings and clients may become difficult. A rental PHP script may grow with your business, allowing you to handle additional transactions without issue. This scalability guarantees that your processes run smoothly, even during peak times or rapid business expansion.
3. Enhanced Inventory Management
Keeping inventory manually might result in mistakes, double reservations, and unhappy clients. A rental script provides real-time inventory management, so you constantly know what's available and what's not. This not only helps to avoid overbooking but also helps to arrange maintenance and restocking more effectively.
5. Data Insights and Reporting
One of the primary benefits of employing rental business software is access to specific data and analytics. You may produce reports on many elements of your business, including booking patterns, client demographics, and financial performance. These insights may help you make more educated decisions, customize your marketing strategy, and find areas for development.
6. Cost-effective
While there is an initial cost required to establish a rental script, the long-term benefits are enormous. Automation decreases the need for a large staff, minimizes human error, and improves productivity. Furthermore, greater customer satisfaction and retention rates might result in increased income, delivering a strong return on investment.
7. 24/7 Availability
A rental script makes your business available to clients at all times. This implies that prospective consumers can make reservations at any time, not just during your business hours. The ease of 24-hour availability may dramatically enhance your bookings and client base.
8. Security & Compliance
Rental scripts frequently have built-in security mechanisms to protect sensitive client information and ensure safe transactions. In addition, they assist you in complying with industry rules and norms, lowering the risk of legal issues and improving your business’s credibility.
9. Customization and Flexibility
Many rental scripts provide modification options to customize the system to your unique company requirements. Whether you rent out equipment, automobiles, homes, or other goods, the script may be customized to meet your specific needs. This adaptability guarantees that the system works for you and not the other way around.
10. Integration with Other Tools
Modern rental scripts may work smoothly with various business tools including accounting software, CRM systems, and marketing platforms. This connection simplifies your operations by ensuring that data flows easily across multiple elements of your organization.
Conclusion
Adding a rental marketplace script to your rental business is more than simply a technology improvement; it's a strategic step toward operational excellence, increased client happiness, and business development. A rental script from sangvish can help you keep ahead of the competition by automating procedures, offering important information, and assuring smooth operations. Whether you run a small rental business or a huge organization, the benefits of employing a rental script are apparent and may pave the path to long-term success.

Homestay Heroics: Your Airbnb Clone Script
Introduction
Have you ever dreamed of running your own successful homestay business, just like Airbnb? Well, you're in luck! In this article, we will explore the fascinating world of homestays and provide you with a step-by-step guide on how to create your very own Airbnb clone script.
What is a Homestay?
Before we dive into the technical details, let's first understand what a homestay is. A homestay is a type of accommodation where travelers stay in a local's home, rather than a traditional hotel. It provides an opportunity for travelers to experience the local culture, interact with the hosts, and enjoy a more personalized and authentic travel experience.
The Rise of Airbnb
Airbnb, the pioneer of the homestay concept, revolutionized the travel industry when it was founded in 2008. It quickly gained popularity and disrupted the traditional hotel industry by connecting travelers with hosts who were willing to rent out their spare rooms or entire homes. Today, Airbnb is a global phenomenon, with millions of listings in over 220 countries.
Building Your Own Airbnb Clone Script
Now that you understand the potential of the homestay market, let's discuss how you can create your own Airbnb clone script. Here are the key steps to get you started:
Step 1: Research and Planning
Before diving into the technical aspects, it's crucial to conduct thorough research and plan your homestay business. Identify your target market, analyze the competition, and define your unique selling proposition (USP). This will help you differentiate your platform from existing competitors and attract both hosts and travelers.
Step 2: Design and Development
Once you have a clear vision for your homestay platform, it's time to design and develop your Airbnb clone script. You can either hire a professional web development team or use a pre-built script to kickstart your project. Make sure to prioritize user experience, mobile responsiveness, and seamless booking functionality.
Step 3: Features and Functionality
To make your Airbnb clone script stand out, consider incorporating unique features and functionality. Some essential features to include are user registration and login, property listing and search, booking and payment processing, messaging system, reviews and ratings, and a robust admin dashboard. Think about what would make your platform more user-friendly and attractive to both hosts and travelers.
Step 4: Testing and Launch
Before launching your homestay platform, it's crucial to thoroughly test all the features and functionality. Conduct extensive testing to ensure a seamless user experience, secure payment processing, and bug-free performance. Once you're confident in the stability and usability of your platform, it's time to launch and start marketing your Airbnb clone script.
Conclusion
Creating your own Airbnb clone script can be a rewarding and lucrative venture. By tapping into the growing demand for unique and authentic travel experiences, you can build a successful homestay platform that connects hosts and travelers from around the world. Remember to focus on user experience, differentiate your platform, and continuously evolve to meet the changing needs of the market. So, what are you waiting for? Start your homestay heroics today and embark on an exciting entrepreneurial journey!

While filming "Fast Times at Ridgemont High" (1982), first-time director Amy Heckerling said she was seeking to make a comedy that was less structured than conventional ones, and more like "American Graffiti" (1973) so that "if you woke up and found yourself living in the movie, you'd be happy. I wanted that kind of feel."
Universal executives recommended David Lynch as a director, and source material author Cameron Crowe met with Lynch. Though Lynch liked the idea, he passed on directing. Producer Art Linson showed Crowe's script to Heckerling, who at that point had directed only student films. Heckerling then met with Crowe, and the two began brainstorming different ideas for the film. Heckerling thought the book "had just such an amazing wealth of material" that could be incorporated more into the script." She liked how much of the book's action is centered around a mall, and suggested featuring the mall setting even more prominently in the film.Said Crowe, "Amy completely got it and we were up and running."
Judge Reinhold was the boyfriend of Heckerling's best friend, who was also doing casting. He got the part anyway without the producers knowing of their relationship.
Mike Damone's nude scene with Stacy that was filmed and never used was stated by Heckerling to show the natural vulnerability between two young teenagers. The intent was to show each of them undressing, and then show them standing before each other fully naked, full frontal, vulnerable, and nervous. The scene was pulled due to an impending X-rating and has never been released.
According to Heckerling, Phoebe Cates was initially reluctant to carry out her character's poolside topless scene at the house in West Hills because she thought the neighbors might be spying on the set from the surrounding rooftops. She reportedly got Cates to overcome her fear by assuring the actress it would only be for a few seconds and thus wouldn't allow people much time to stare. Ironically, in the following years (during the era of videotape home video), it became a running joke at many video rental stores that copies of "Fast Times at Ridgemont High" often suffered a predictable flicker during the topless moment in question because so many renters had paused the video on that shot (causing excessive wear on the tape at that location). Help us save Six of Crows!
DONATE ONLY $1 TO HELP US REACH OUR GOAL! WE ARE GOING TO DO A BILLBOARD FOR SAB TOO!
On November 15th, Netflix announced its cancellation of the Six of Crows project, an adaptation of Leigh Bardugo’s beloved Grishaverse duology. Since then, there has been an outpour of grief and heartbreak online from thousands of fans, begging for a reversal.
The novel Six of Crows was first published 8 years ago, gaining critical acclaim and a massive fanbase. Over the years, its numbers have only grown. First appearing on screen in Shadow and Bone, the Crows rapidly became favorites among critics and fans alike. The fandom’s love for the ragtag crew from Ketterdam was so significant and well-known that the show diverges from the book’s canon to include them. When showrunner Eric Heisserer announced in March that a Six of Crows spinoff was in the works the fandom rejoiced, but since being canceled, the fandom's joy quickly turned into dismay and uproar.
With scripts already written, an immensely talented group of people both in front of and behind the camera more than ready to work, and a massive fanbase, it’s baffling that Netflix would choose not to go forward with the project. However, the Grishaverse fandom refuses to accept this fate.
We refuse to accept that we will never see Inej Ghafa’s empowering backstory, the beautiful love story of Matthias and Nina, the dozens of famous lines that make us weep, or a single scene with all of our beloved Crows together.
We have organized this Kickstarter campaign to show Netflix that we reject this abrupt and heartbreaking end. For the cast, for the crew, for all of us that love this world and these characters, we will fight to see this story on screen.
Donations to this Kickstarter will be put towards the renting of a large billboard in Los Angeles demanding Netflix’s action in saving the Six of Crows series. If sufficiently funded, we plan to expand the campaign to other locations to further demonstrate our commitment.
As exact details will partially depend on the success of this fundraiser, more information about the specific address and duration of the billboard(s) rental will come soon. For questions, keep an eye on this webpage or follow @freddybrekker on X for updates.
It is our hope that Netflix will be forced to listen to the fandom’s dedication to this series as well as our outrage at its cancellation. For our cause to be successful, we must be impossible to ignore.
Finally, we will leave you with words from our brilliant, dedicated and beloved cast of Crows.
“I feel like the fans, myself included, have been really looking forward to seeing the Six of Crows storyline come to life. It's just so, so cinematic, that storyline…It would be heartbreaking to get this close and then not get to see all six of them together." Freddy Carter
“I haven't had the same luxury of Inej's backstory yet, and I think they're saving that. I'm really, really glad that they are. I know the payoff for this, if it does happen, is gonna be absolutely an emotional wreck but in the most beautiful, exciting and exhilarating way.” Amita Suman
“I’m heartbroken by the idea that we won’t be able to finish what we started… I desperately wished to go further, and believe me those plans are special…The patience I’ve carried for that dream these past years has been beating in me like a slow steady drum, and yesterday it paused for the first time.” Calahan Skogman
"[Nina has] helped many people like me to love, like, and accept myself. I tried to stay true to her character.” Danielle Galligan
“Growing up, I didn’t see that many characters like myself who were in big fantasy series, with violence or [who] even had access to fantasy weapons or got involved in big fights and battles…I think to see a character like myself in those situations is a really cool thing, it’s something that I actually don’t see often.” Jack Wolfe
"I think that I can speak for everyone here when we all really care about doing it well, and we are invested in its success… I think hopefully what you see is something that we are already proud of because we’ve put our blood, sweat, and tears into it. And it’s just a joy to do. So wherever it can go next, if we get the chance to keep going, then you know, we’re all game, we’re all excited to do it." Kit Young
#SaveTheCrows #SaveShadowandBone
“Because that’s what we do. We never stop fighting.”
“Because that's what we do. We never stop fighting.” -  Kaz Brekker, Crooked Kingdom by Leigh Bardugo

Quote
I BOUGHT A SWEET TEA at a downtown lunch spot and reviewed the notes for my talk. Before I arrived at the conference, I had decided to discuss bias in algorithms. The essence of my argument was this: In 2019, shortly after I finished graduate school, I worked for a company that made a real estate chatbot called Brenda. Brenda answered questions about apartment listings and booked prospective tenants for tours. My job was to supervise Brenda’s conversations as an “operator,” and if she went off script, which she often did, I took over until she regained her bearings. Over thousands of conversations with strangers, I began to suspect that Brenda’s diction — and the very fact of her texting interface — was most palatable to the young, affluent, and white. I feared this had real effects on which people booked tours, and which people were so put off by the experience of speaking to Brenda they looked for housing elsewhere. Was this not redlining by algorithm? The peculiar mental burden of the job was that I was made to live in parallel but opposite realities. On the one hand, our Slack channels were filled with messages from developers claiming righteous intentions. Brenda was making the rental process accessible, democratic, quick as a text. And yet every night I watched how this bot, with her blameless, chirpy affect, was an instrument of isolation, a digital bully that landlords used to create distance between themselves and their tenants. Though she hadn’t crossed my mind for some time, I remembered Ella, a woman who messaged Brenda so often I came to recognize her on my shifts. Ella spoke only Spanish. Brenda did not, and neither did most of the chatbot operators, so we corresponded with Ella by copying and pasting Spanish phrases from a Google Doc we had compiled on our own time. Ella was a tenant at one of Brenda’s properties. Ella’s messages were urgent and anguished. She spoke of violencia and God. Her situation was unclear. She sent video clips of her walls and ceilings, which came through as still images without sound. We were fairly certain Ella was trying to report domestic violence in the apartment next door. We told Ella that if she or someone else was in danger she should call 911. Ella did not call 911; it was possible she was afraid to engage the police. We told Ella to call building management, but the management’s only phone number rerouted to Brenda, the chatbot who handled rental inquiries. Ella, I should note, was not the woman’s name. She offered us her real name several times, which we manually added to her file. But Brenda, ever keen, kept spotting the feminine singular pronoun ella — a more suitable name by Brenda’s logic, more like the names she had seen before — and entering it into the name field, obliterating whatever had been there. “Como te llamas?” we would ask. “¡Ya te dije!” she would say. The woman’s true name was finally lost.

January 1996. Before it became a Harley Quinn thing, BIRDS OF PREY was Barbara Gordon's (barely) crypto-lesbian crimefighting polycule. After Babs was shot by the Joker and summarily discarded by the Bat-books, John Ostrander and Kim Yale reinvented the former Batgirl as Oracle, a computer hacker and information broker who for a while was Amanda Waller's second-in-command of the Suicide Squad. In 1995, Oracle became the costar of the leading homoerotic team-up franchise of the '90s, recruiting Black Canary and later various other superheroines for what was nominally a CHARLIE'S ANGELS type adventure series with Oracle as Charlie.
What's memorable about this initial special, aside from its horny Gary Frank art, is that Black Canary doesn't know who Oracle is except by reputation and as an electronically altered voice on the telephone. However, Dinah is going through a rough patch, so when she comes home to find an answering machine message from Oracle saying she has a dangerous job for her and has already bought her a first-class ticket to Gotham, Dinah decides she has nothing better to do but play out the string. Oracle has gotten her a fancy rental car and a swanky hotel suite, in which there's a throat mic and tiny transceiver that will let Oracle communicate with her (and surveil her, although Oracle already knows everything about her, from her recent breakup with Oliver Queen to her poor credit rating) 24/7:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
So, Babs not only wants Dinah to do some legwork for her, but also dresses her up like a doll, watches her every move, and is a voice in her ear basically at all times. (The early BIRDS OF PREY stories often have scenes of Babs talking to Dinah from the bath or the hot tub, because that's the kind of series this is.) Rather than being creeped out by this weird stalker/control-freak behavior from an anonymous woman, Dinah says, "Sure, why not?" and decides to just go with it, even after Oracle starts bringing other women into the mix. (It seems pretty clear that when Dinah asks, "Are these your personal taste?" she's asking whether they're what Oracle wants to see Dinah in — which Dinah evidently doesn't have a problem with — rather than whether they're something Oracle herself would wear.)
This being a '90s comic book by right-wing homophobe Chuck Dixon, there are of course various no-homo evasions throughout, but I'm not sure how one is supposed to not read this as kind of gay. The second BIRDS OF PREY story, which teams Black Canary and Lois Lane (and is written not by Dixon, but by Jordan B. Gorfinkel, the editor of the initial special), has this little aside:
Tumblr media
There's no way anyone writing something like this in 1995–96 wouldn't know how people were likely to read this. (Dinah does know that Oracle is a woman even in their first adventure, and while Babs typically distorts her voice when communicating with people as Oracle, it doesn't appear that she does that with Dinah.)
After a while, Dinah does become curious to know more about Oracle, but Babs refuses to let Dinah actually see her. Eventually, though, circumstances force the issue in BIRDS OF PREY #21:
Tumblr media
Dixon's script for this issue contained the following note for artist Butch Guice:
The more drama you can squeeze from this the better. We’re going for The Pieta as opposed to anything that HINTS of the sexual. This scene is apparently RIPE for misinterpretation (or OVERinterpretation.) by some of our readers.
Mission accomplished — no lesbian implications here, boss!
So, as you can see, they have the "be gay" part down pretty well, and you may also be assured that Babs spends this series doing crimes. As a hacker, she of course commits computer fraud on the regular, breaking into restricted and classified systems (she's hacked the military GPS constellation so she can track Dinah, for instance), but she also routinely steals as much money as she needs to finance whatever equipment she needs and keep her girlfriend partner and their ever-growing list of attractive female cohorts in hot cars and fancy underwear. Vigilante superheroes generally take a pretty selective attitude about the law, but the number of felonies this once rather prim policeman's daughter and one-time congresswoman perpetrates honestly puts Catwoman to shame. The stories are frustratingly stupid and the art only gets hornier as it goes on, but what a good series this could have been if it were actually good.

Past and Present: Cheryl Dunye’s The Watermelon Woman
Last year, Special Collections and Archives at the University of Iowa Libraries acquired items to form a new collection: the Black Film and Television Collection. In honor of Black History Month, we’re shining a spotlight on a different item from this collection each week.
In yesterday’s post, we discussed the original script for 1971’s Shaft, a defining entry in the Blaxploitation genre. Our final spotlight shines on a unique photo book from 1996, when Cheryl Dunye’s The Watermelon Woman attempted to excavate the history of queer Black women on screen.
Cheryl Dunye and New Queer Cinema
With The Watermelon Woman, Dunye became the first Black lesbian to direct a feature film. This movie belongs to a genre that came to be called New Queer Cinema, a movement in independent film during the 1990s that placed queer characters at the center.
The film was critically acclaimed and regarded as one of the foundational films of the genre, and it was added to the Library of Congress’ National Film Registry in 2021.
It also gave new momentum to Dunye’s career in film and television, which continues to this day. Her recent directing credits include The Umbrella Academy, Bridgerton, and Queen Sugar.
Unnamed & Uncredited
The Watermelon Woman stars writer and director Cheryl Dunye as an aspiring documentarian who works at a video rental store. Dunye’s fictional proxy, also named Cheryl, is fascinated by the history of Black women in film, particularly those who went unnamed and uncredited for roles portraying the racist archetypes that were common in the cinema of the 1930s and 40s.
In the movie, Cheryl embarks on a journey to discover the name of Black actress only identified as “The Watermelon Woman.” She eventually uncovers the woman’s real name, Fae Richards, and discovers that she, too, was a queer woman.
A Supplementary Archive
Fae Richards may be a fictional character, but she stands for countless queer Black people whose stories have been omitted from the record. Artist Zoe Leonard, in collaboration with Cheryl Dunye, created The Fae Richards Photo Archive, a series of 82 images that document the life of this fictional character. From candid shots, family photos, and publicity pictures, every image matches a time and place of this character. As the Whitney Museum of American Art explains, “Leonard acknowledges the project’s artifice, encouraging the viewer to recognize that she had to create a story that is fictional, but rings true, because the real life counterparts of such stories went undocumented.”
This statement demonstrates exactly why many archives are, or need to, work to fix the mistakes of the past. As a school with a rich screenwriting history, it is why the University of Iowa Libraries is actively working to collect more stories from Black cinema.
A Century of Black Film
During this series, we’ve looked at four iconic examples of Black filmmaking. But that’s not to say that the work of Black filmmakers can be reduced to four eras, or that the films we discussed are more important than those that didn’t make this list. There’s so much more to discover in the Black Film and Television Collection, and if you’ve enjoyed this blog series, we encourage you to check out what’s available online. As The Watermelon Woman attests, the preservation of these stories, and the names and lives behind them, is vital and rewarding work.

hii bailor how are you. have you read or watched anything cool recently. i just started fellow travelers (the book) and it's making me feel so crazy i had to put it down and like go walk around to feel normal again
HIIIIIIII i have been doing so mcuh with work and art and everything so i haven't done much reading since june (i read like 7 books in a row i was doing so well) BUT i have been watching movies bc i found out that the local arthouse theater gives a really good student discount. also i have been hanging out at the video store and befriending the ppl who work the front desk there so i've watched a bunch of fun movies recently. SO!! some movie recs from things i've watched recently
humanist vampire seeking consensual suicidal person (2023)
dark comedy film about a young vampire who cannot hunt for food bc she cant morally justify killing people. after her parents stop hunting for her (finally forcing her to confront her fear of taking human life) she realizes that she might be able to work around her issues when she meets a suicidal teenager who wants her to kill him. genuinely such a sweet coming of age movie. and VERY silly. and beautifully filmed.
latter days (2003)
found the dvd at the local tax evading secondhand bookstore and bought it as a joke but genuinely this movie was very good. how do i even begin to describe latter days. blowjob scene in the first 5 minutes. the "sweet home alabama" screenwriter's passion project that he described as him trying to figure out what his repressed mormon past-self and his young newly out queer self would've done if they'd met. the answer is gay sex. apparently. this is an insane movie. i really enjoyed it but tbh i had the unique viewing experience of watching the movie with my old homoerotic best friend from high school so idk if my opinions on it are valid. they may indeed be tainted by that viewing experience. some insane fucking one liners though.
scream, queen! my nightmare on elm street (2019)
really great documentary for queer horror fans. follows the life of mark patton, the man who is most well-known for being the "first male scream queen" after he starred in nightmare on elm street 2: freddy's revenge. this was a video store rental and did not disappoint! experienced a positive jumpscare when i heard the first voiceover and was like "WAIT!!! cecil gershwin-palmer??????" it is indeed voiced by mr cecil welcometonightvale himself, cecil baldwin 👍
this ask also gives me an excuse to share some of my journal pages about movies i've seen recently so !
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
(+ bonus photo of my latter days dvd. insane fucking movie. btw fun fact the sticker on this dvd says 3 dollar but i did in fact get it for free bc the bookstore ladies love me. so)
i should add fellow travelers to my TBR probably,,, i need to read again. im always saying that when i haven't read for a while but it's true. i've been reading so many theater related nonfiction books recently for work and school and independent study and stuff but i gotta read A Narrative again soon.
i also need to go insane over A Narrative again and i think that'd do the trick........
rn i'm reading "standby" which is this book about theatrical design theory and it's so SO good but a little dense. i will say the last book that i devoured was andrew rannells' book of essays "too much is not enoguh" i read that in like 3 days and that was me pacing myself. it also got the stamp of approval from my mom who i lent the book to pretty much as soon as i saw her after i finished it.
also read this weird script a while ago called "the last thing i'll ever write" by adam lauver but i really don't know how i feel about that one. it was fun to read in the moment bc reading it was like putting together a puzzle of trying to figure out how i would actually put the show on a stage but idk if i;d recommend it. it IS weird art though and i do love weird art.
ive also been watching falsettos pretty frequently. idk why. its been scratching a theatre itch in my brain.

I found this carved into the wood floor of my rental unit under the back door entrance mat.
Tumblr media
As far as I can tell, it says “OG BALAM AHATH” but nothing turns up when I Google that phrase. Any idea what it is?
The runes ᚩand ᚻ have Anglo-Frisian features, so if they used the runes consistently then the ᚫ runes stand for æ rather than a. That gives us: og bælæm æhæþ. From what I'm looking at the second word might be rælæm with some inconvenient wood grain making it harder to see but you've got the real thing there so I'll trust your judgment on that. Either way, I don't know what it means. Reading this at face value, it doesn't look like a language I'm familiar with and I don't think there's good reason to identify it as a pre-modern Germanic language either.
Sometimes you'll find a piece of runic writing and it doesn't make any sense but if you can guess about what the person thought but was wrong about you can kind of triangulate what they were going for. But I've got nothing here. There's also traditional ways to obscure messages in runes like substitution ciphers. That could have happened here, but it would be hours of trial and error and would probably not produce anything.
Though technically you'd want to read ᚫ as æ for the sake of consistency, there's no guarantee the carver really knew that and I suspect that you're right in that they probably meant it to stand for a. The reason is just that I can't think of any language that would require that many æ's (maybe Old Danish, but this is not Old Danish). If that's true, then this was carved by someone who doesn't really know runes very well (i.e. a regular person). I think they looked up something like "English to runes chart" on Google Images (or if it's been there too long for that, used a <$15 book on runes from a new age store).
Basically, I think that the fact that they used runes here doesn't mean anything more than writing "ᚨᛒᚱᚨᚲᚨᛞᚨᛒᚱᚨ" instead of "abracadabra."
If someone's gonna blow their deposit to do something like this right at a door, I feel like they probably were trying to do some sort of magic, and it was probably meant to protect the house and/or themselves. I think they maybe they found some supposedly magic words, and decided to write it in the most magical alphabet they could think of (or just one that's easy to scratch into wood). Historically you could sometimes find stuff buried at thresholds for this sort of purpose; this person probably didn't have the ability to pull that off, though I dunno why they didn't just tape it to the bottom of the doormat or something. It could just be a language I don’t recognize, but I also can’t pull anything up through a Google search (it could be one that doesn’t use Latin script).
Anyway I've tried a bunch of searching and stuff and could probably do this all day but I'm going to take the fact that balam is apparently Tagalog for “waste of time” as a sign and call it.
