When Tommy saved Bobby for the second time—this time eight years in the past—it flashed me back to last summer, when Tim Minear posted a BuckTommy video to his facebook.

In that video, a fan effectively highlighted the concept of 'Invisible String Theory' and how it related to BuckTommy as a pairing, while also pointing out how this made Tommy Kinard stand out as not just a unique and effective love interest for Buck, but also an influential character for the direction of the show in general.

So, having a new flashback where Tommy is the one to save Bobby in the past, when it could have just as easily been anyone else who saved him, adds even more contextual layers to the concept. Because had Tommy not intervened at this moment, Bobby likely would have fallen into the inferno and died, leading to the alteration or complete erasure of just about everything we have witnessed in the show since 1x01--never mind just Buck no longer meeting Tommy. It makes me consider that the concept of ‘Invisible String Theory’ may have actually resonated with Minear in a truly influential way once it was brought to his attention, via that video or elsewhere, and that he didn’t just post that video for mere fandom points. Because with this latest development, we have veered away from ‘accidental Invisible String Theory’, to what appears to now be intentional. With this latest development, the writing continues to integrate Tommy into the show’s past and present, while further establishing a strong foundation for his place in the show’s future. It's yet another solid piece of evidence pointing to true longevity for the BuckTommy pairing.

Hen has her Karen, Maddie has her Chimney, Athena had her Bobby, and Buck will have his Tommy.

Honestly the right version I like a lot, I just like bright colors, but the orange helmet was just too much, another downside is that he doesn’t work well with a solid background color except black 😭

I just love thinking about shattered glass Earthspark with SG Optimus being the one to defect because I think the dynamics could be fascinating but also because SG Optimus goes about his actions in such a specifically interesting way that compares & contrasts both BL Optimus and BL Megatron in fun ways

Took a tour of Frank Lloyd Wright's Taliesin West!

This location was established in 1937 and served as his winter residence and work space

It was lovely getting to see it in person. I also thought it was extra cool to be in the space where him and his team worked on developing the designs for buildings he would make later in his career.

It's like 11pm. and I'm getting emotional thinking about Athena in Turnabout Academy again.

The first case she's ever taken on as defense, knowing full well Junie's future is at stake, and. she's dealing with this nightmare. Phoenix’s first case? A single afternoon and one Frank later, Larry's off the hook. Apollo's first case? A fake Russian lady and a slipup on Kristoph's behalf, managed in a day. And they were doing this in their mid 20s. But Athena has to not only deal with someone who knows the legal system like the back of his pasty marble hand, but grown ass men who tell her she's in over her head despite the fact she's a dual major. who's rightfully earned her badge at age 18. She's receiving nothing but sexism and ableism left and right despite all she's capable of, even the people who are supposed to be on her side are mocking her and treating her like an idiot for lacking experience. And let's not forget having to essentially provide group therapy and solve the problems of a bunch of high schoolers, at least one of whom was desperately in need of support, while still solving the themisforsaken case entirely within the bounds of the clown show this game calls a legal system. I.

when I bring up the fact that it's weird that Edith can instantly read the text on Enola's trunk key in Crimson Peak, even though it's like three feet away from her on a table and she doesn't have her glasses on, I often get a response of "well, her vision's probably not THAT bad- she only needs them to read small print!"

au contraire, my friends. because Edith not wearing her glasses all the time doesn't mean her vision is mostly fine- it means that she lives in 1901

it was very common at the time to only wear glasses/spectacles when you absolutely had to, even if your vision impairment was more intense than just Reading Issues. indeed, Outlines of Practical Hygiene from 1894 recommends that "when the work is finished, for which glasses are needed, these should be taken off," and the Medical Times of 1901 said that, "Glasses help overworked or inadequate focusing muscles [seldom actually how near- or far-sightedness works, as I understand it] to overcome imperfections, but if overworn, they may help too much."

on the surface, this had to do with the above, mistaken belief that wearing them all the time would make your eyes even weaker- in practice, especially for women, it also had a lot to do with the preferred aesthetics of the time. glasses were not the fashionable look, generally speaking. while Edith would probably like to imagine herself above such petty concerns...I'd be willing to bet she's more swayed by them than she'd admit. after all, she didn't grow up in a vacuum of pure intellectualism

so, how bad IS her vision? well, she needs glasses to read the titles of the books in Alan's study fairly close-up. one might then argue that she's far-sighted, but she appears to be holding the newspaper with the article about Beatrice's death very close to her face to read it sans glasses

so therefore: I conclude that Edith is pretty seriously nearsighted, she only doesn't wear her glasses all the time because of then-conventional wisdom, and how the hell did she notice that damn key. filmmakers, don't write a myopic character and then forget she has vision issues!

My ceramicwere is from IKEA and they stopped making the exact kind. Over the years a few have broken here and there and in a big fan of matching plates and bowls (not because aesthetic but because of the autistic need for food things to be the same).

My roommates recently broke a plate (it happens) and offered to replace it but I can only find it on eBay in sets so it’s expensive. They’re at the thrift shop and just found the exact set.
