@tf-bigbang 2023 is here!
I had the absolute pleasure of working with the amazing @asteroidmiyoko on this event! These particular works showcase a couple scenes from their fic Reprise which you should absolutely go read here!
It's a lovely MegaRung fic with a twist. Speaking of said twist, I got to design Rung 2.0 which was tons of fun!

I'm not surprised that Dazzle is a possessed animatronic, I even love it, a different touch to these three channels that focus more on technology than on the supernatural part of the FNAF lore.
But I wonder why, why now bring this plot? Do they want to make us hate Bloodmoon by showing one of its victims? To eliminate it once and for all without suffering reprisals from the fandom?
I am so curious
I DO LIKE THAT THEYRE TOUCHING ON THIS. Because oddly enough with OG fnaf you'd assume ghosts or the like be around FROM that right? Gregory has dealt with a bunch of them. So i love theyre using that lil plot for Dazzle but its SO TRAGIC because they really are just a kid. They dont understand. But also given Sun's involvement might be from im seeing some character stuff for him too. I dont know if its just to make everyone hate bloodmoon more. To be fair this is Bloodmoon 2.0. He didnt even DO that. No memories of that, but we know they would take joy in the thought of that event (I'm pretty sure it was brought up too!) However mans going thru depression arc so we'll see how thats handled actually. I feel like he would taunt but it'd be empty. Altho we shouldn't be surprised there is repercussions to July 16th because of Bloodmoon. Curious how Dazzle would take this news. If they even tell them. However Jack and Bloodmoon friendship??? Probably gonna be super gone with this information due to Jack and Dazzle being besties. But hmn. HMNNN Dazzle feeling bad for Bloodmoon being alone now tho.

What your favorite song from the Beetlejuice the Musical Soundtrack says about you:
The Prologue/Invisible: You listened to the whole album on repeat for weeks at a time and now you just need the opening notes to trigger your serotonin boost. It might not be the healthiest coping mechanism, but hey, whatever works.
The Whole Being Dead Thing: You love musicals. You think Alex Brightman's version is the best Beetlejuice. You've watched the Tony performance 8 times and you're probably going to look it up again as soon as you're done reading this.
Ready Set Not Yet: The 2020 lockdown was the best thing to ever happen to you. It really gave you time to grow, you know... Emotionally. Say "Hi" to your therapist for me.
The Whole Being Dead Thing pt2: You aren't part of the intended audience for this show but you're having a lot of fun now that you're here. Welcome!
Dead Mom: Wow. Those are some Big Feels™ there Buddy. Are you doing okay? Have you had water today?
Fright of Their Lives: You can be honest, we're all friends here. Are you a horror junkie or a monster fucker? Either way, this is your dream scenario.
Ready Set (Reprise): Same as the first one but you think you're handling it okay on your own. Say "Hi" to your mom for me.
No Reason: You use your 50+ Pinterest boards to cope with the fact that you can't afford a real house to decorate. Get yourself some coffee and ibuprofen, or as you like to call it: Breakfast.
Invisible (Reprise): No it's not. Try again.
Say My Name: You're right, objectively, but that doesn't mean you don't need to get off TikTok for a bit. Maybe take off the cosplay makeup and touch some grass.
Day-O: You prefer the movie and that's okay. Good on you for branching out and trying new things, even if it's only because your loved one who's obsessed with the show made you listen. It still counts.
Girl Scout: How many Ao3 tabs are open on your browser right now? What about Wattpad? Hmm?
That Beautiful Sound: You are the Gothy Teen. I'd say that you scare me, but you'd take it as a compliment. Please go to therapy. For everyone's mental health.
Barbara 2.0: You're the Mom Friend™; The Responsible One ™; The Voice of Reason™. I don't care if you have crippling anxiety and your room looks like a dumpster threw up, that's who you are.
What I Know Now: You are the intended audience and you're having a blast. You might still need therapy, but not for anything related to this show. Congratulations.
Home: Big Feels™ pt2. At least you're handling it better than those who picked Dead Mom. I'm serious about the water thing though.
Creepy Old Guy: Your trauma speaks for itself, and you're aware of it. Go clear your browsing history.
Jump In Line/Dead Mom (Reprise): You don't go here and frankly, you're glad it's over. This was the weirdest 2.5h of your life and you just want to go home and sit in the shower for a while.

Beetlejuice the Musical - an Analysis/My Favorite Parts
Prologue: Invisible
“Grown-ups wanna fix things. When they can't it only fills them with shame, so they just look away."
The Whole “Being Dead" Thing
TRUMPETS
“Rodgers, Hart, and Hammerstein”
"How you doin'? Oh, not good! *scats*"
“If you die while listening to this album, it’s still gonna keep playing”
“Blah blah Bible Jesus Magic”
DIES IRAE
Ready Set, Not Yet
THE FAST BITS
When Adam waits a beat after his fast bit before saying “ready set” because he’s not as confident as Barbara ahhhhhhhh
When Barbara sings the word "terror" like "terra"
“Hiding away so you don’t have to face being a bad mom” whoever wrote these lyrics is so mean
“Oh… NO”
The Whole "Being Dead" Thing: Reprise
The pause after “Hi!”
“Jesus I can’t spell”
“Eh, worth a try”
“I’m the bio-exorcist, giving houses enemas”
Dead Mom
“Daddy’s moving forward, daddy didn’t lose a mom”
“A plague of mice, a lightning strike, or drop a nuclear bomb”
Fright of their Lives
“Drop your panties”
“No. What fills you with RAGE”
“Being mean to a pet” MOOD BARBARA
BJ’s soliloquy, he’s so over it, so DRAMATIC
“WHY GOD SLASH SATAN”
“Uch, these dopes are both hopeless”
Ready, Set (Reprise)
You can just SEE the shoulder bump with “I’m sure we can haunt our own halls”
“I gotta get right outside my comfort zone” 😬
No Reason
“What’s happening, GURL”
“Buy more crystals”
The windchime during “put a little alright in the world”
“Where good people die” “NO”
“Cuz you’re bored” FLUTE SOLO
“Meaninglessness and alone” “NONONONONOOOOOOoooooo~” the talent it takes to pull off that vocal riff is ridiculous
“Is this still about me?”
The harmonies in the last note
Invisible (Reprise)/On the Roof
“Somebody’s on the roof” always has me cackling
“I, Lydia Deetz” *BIG SIGH* “will be gone”
“I’M GONNA HAVE A NEW BEST FRIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIEND”
Say My Name
The musical style?!?!?!?
This is my favorite song in the entire show. And it was not an easy choice.
“What?” “Nothing”
Nice Moana reference
“Beetlejuice?” she says, like “what a dumb fuckin name”
LYDIA’S WHOLE SECTION LET’S GOOOOOO
Including the music change
BJ being like WHAT and SO frustrated every time she psychs him out
In the production I saw Lydia said “I just metcha” and I like that better
“I may be suicidal but Beetlejuice it’s not as if I’ve lost my mind” OOF
“That was possession” lol he’s so proud of himself
Love love love the rhyme: “Pretty much, any ghost’ll do, sure” “Then Beetlejuice, what do I need you for?” and the subsequent WOAH WOAH WOAH
The instrumental hit right after she sings “Yeah I got game” is my favorite
This whole song just slaps idk what else to tell you
Day-O
“I’d have to… check my pay stubs”
“Oh boy oh boy oh boy oh boy” as he pops up out of the table he had to hide in the whole scene
Dad finally saying Lydia’s name as he’s swept away
“It’s our house now, kid”
Girl Scout
“Ooh~!”
The piano during “my heart is defective” A+ score writing
“Still”
*dramatic music* JAMBOREES
“Whee!”
*nervous laughter after meeting Lydia*
“By selling cookies *BIG BREATH* four dollars a box”
Also. FOUR DOLLARS A BOX?!??!?!?! Jealous.
“Pedophiles” 😇
That Beautiful Sound
“He is so weird”
Love the smooth jazzy style
“Time for a few OH MY GOD”
“How many… people… live here?”
Lydia’s laugh after “nice moves Lydia” is so pure
“Pfah, holy moly, lotta people come to this house”
“Yes, I hear that sooooooooooound” he’s so happy
“No more condescending adults hanging around”
“Daddy’s leaving me the hell alone”
Barbara 2.0
“It’s the stuff of our lives, and all of it’s shit.”
“Okay, that wasn’t as much fun as I thought it would be.”
“Buhreak it”
“The new Adam is wiserrrrrrr”
Harmonieeeeees
What I Know Now
“I went to parties a lot…” *sniff* “You know?”
“Niche was right, you know? To live is to suffer, bro”
“Life is short but death is super long”
I really like this song because if you ruminate on it long enough it’s a good song to talk you into living life to its fullest even if things suck.
Home
I love that this is a reprise but also the whole theme of Lydia’s character - that her mom is home. But then she finds out that she can have a home with a (very dysfunctional) family and not forget her mom either.
Her little laugh when she says Delia’s name
Creepy Old Guy
“I’m a creepy old guy!!”
“Girls may seem disgusted, but we’re actually just shy”
Shoobedowop
In the show I saw, Lydia goes: “Even on the inside, he- he’s disgusting” which I liked better than the recording
“A dance break on an album? Amazing.”
“L’chaim” is pronounced correctly, thank you Alex
“God be glorified” in a fucked up key
The whole company going “I can’t believe some cultures think this kind of thing’s alright” in unison
Jump in the Line/Dead Mom - Reprise
A perfect song to end a perfect show.
“I adore huh”
“Mama if you’re listening, doesn’t this just blow your mind?”
Shake shake shake senora in the background UGH MY HEART
DAYLIGHT COME AND ME WAN GO HOME
She’s home (I’m not crying you’re crying)
Overall thoughts:
Alex doing the Beetlejuice voice throughout THE WHOLE SHOW
The rhyming throughout the whole musical is just. A+
Lydia’s songsssssss
Honestly all the vocal parts are real hard
And so is the book for the pit
There’s like 8 different genres of music throughout the show and it just WORKS
I had no idea this show existed until the start of this year and now it’s in my top 3 favorite musicals. 10/10 amazing incredible perfect

Kisekae Insights #46: Kamen Rider Zi-O Part 4 - King’s Dominion
Tumblr media
“The powers of the Kamen Riders have finally been inherited. Now, the curtain rises on the final battle to decide the true king of time. Joyful all ye nations rise, join the triumph of the skies!”
The finale arc of the original Zi-O was something I definitely wanted to improve on. Despite the series being about time, the finale arc changed focus to it being about Rider worlds, cementing its status of being Decade 2.0. With all plots and footage available from the entire series used up, the plots for the final arc of the series are adapted from the final episodes of Kamen Rider Zero-One, which still worked to my benefit despite the pandemic affecting production of that series.
Let’s dive into the final arc of the series and see how my adaptation skills fared.
Episode 31: Scaredy Boys and Fearless Girls ~ Between Quartzer 2019 ~
Adapted from the Hyper Battle DVD Kamen Rider BiBiBi no BibillGeiz and Decade episodes 24 and 25. This was originally going to be separate DVD extras/specials until I realised that I needed a filler episode and the specials were short enough that I could combine them into one.
The boys and girls get their own focus in this episode. In the first half, Sougo, Kazuto and Mark set up a haunted school for Geiz after he got scared the night before watching classic Doctor Who. As everyone realises that the school could be actually haunted, Geiz obtains the Bibill Ridewatch.
Meanwhile in the second half, Luna has breakfast with Akari, Narutaki and Veronica. They were originally waiting on Kayley, but she was being held up by a Makamou named Chinomanako who steals her Diend Gunmorpher (non-X). The Makamou uses it to transform into Chinomanako Diend aka Gedou Diend, a hybrid Another Rider who can summon monsters through the Gunmorpher.
Kensuke breaks his partnership with Swartz as he sets the Quartzer Riders on him. The girls manage to defeat Gedou Diend, but Swartz uses the non-X Gunmorpher’s power to create the Diend Anotherwatch. Despite this setback, the girls head for an overnight hot springs trip before Luna comes home to the boys who are still spooked over what happened at the haunted school.
In other scenes, the other Sougo becomes Ohma Zi-O; Changyue recalls how he paid two Soulbound villains to create a distraction so he can steal the technology for the Ridewatches, Ziku Drivers and Time Mazines; and Swartz meets with Heure and Ora and gives them the Diend and Gold Drive Anotherwatches…
Episode 32: An Eternal Party ~ Another World 2019 ~
Adapted from Zi-O episodes 44, 45 and 46, namely the Another Worlds arc but without Another Drive because that’s already been done. Sougo’s birthday is rejoiced in this episode.
Previously, we had Woz servants for Sougo and Geiz, namely Kazuto (Black Woz) and Kensuke (White Woz), but this episode features a new Woz named Akihito Hayasaka (Red Woz), who serves the queen of time Tsukuyomi ABC and transforms into Kamen Rider Woz The Next, taking the place of Kamen Rider Aqua in the adaptation of this arc. However, Luna makes it clear to Akihito that even if were to become the queen of time, she won’t rule unless Sougo and Geiz are with her.
Heure and Ora make their appearance as Another Diend and Another Gold Drive as they fight Tsukuyomi and Woz The Next followed by Proto Woz and the Quartzer Riders. This is just after Swartz sent them into another world to fight G4, Fuma, Dark Ghost and Rey.
Tetsuya Iwanaga reprises his role as Yūni Yamishima, aka Kamen Rider Eternal, and to be honest, I didn’t picture him hitting as hard compared to Mitsuru Matsuoka as Katsumi Daidou. Oh well, Iwanaga’s the only guy we could get who can fluently speak English.
E-Zen Tiforp returns from episode 2 and new OCs Rainbow Lightspeed and Alchemic Flower are introduced. Replacing Yukihiro from the Den-O tribute in the original is Another Fourze/Faiz from episode 3, whose Another World has him seeing his girlfriend alive and well. Proto Woz’s summoned Rider is Mad Rogue, who engages Tsukuyomi as Proto Woz fights Woz Ginga Finally as part of their plan to send the two of them into Geiz’s Another World. As part of this plan, Kensuke also steals his Future Note back from Narutaki.
Episode 33: The Power of ABC ~ [REDACTED] Would Bang 2014 ~
Adapted from the Over Quartzer movie.
The title of this episode is a reference to Akari Ichigo and her real name, which has been redacted for privacy reasons. Basically in Year 9, people continued to learn about my crush on Akari and one of the boys managed to rhyme a shortened version of her name with “would bang”. The year 2014 in the title is a reference to Akari Ichigo being the main villain of the two Doctor Who series I produced and broadcast in that year.
In the last episode, Kensuke went back in time and recruited two villains relating to Hiroki’s past in different timelines (as parallel isotopes); in 2014, he recruits Akari Ichigo, who had just killed her husband in their final battle, then in 2013, he recruits the main villain of The Name of Hiroki Ichigo, who had spread himself all over Hiroki’s timestream inside his grave on Trenzalore - let’s call him Hisahide Matsunaga. In case I haven’t mentioned him before, Hisahide was one of my fans at high school in Year 7 and 8 who started teasing me when he got put in my class in Year 9. Together, Hiryuu Kakogawa, Hisahide Matsunaga and Evil Akari Ichigo are Kamen Riders Barlckxs (pronounced “Barukus” but not like “Baracus”), Zonjis and Zamonas. The three Riders can use the power of the Ancient Kamen Rider Ridewatches to utilise powers associated with them. Hiryuu’s goal with Quartzer is to restart the Heisei era from scratch, not his Superboy-Prime attitude of “things were better in the Showa era!” which was what he said in the final stage show.
Later, Swartz has Heure and Ora recreate the remaining Another Riders that hadn’t been recreated previously by forcibly contracting people; if an Another Rider is created and destroyed twice, the Time Jackers can summon them as they please without requiring contracts. As the Time Jackers come into conflict with Barlckxs’ group, Kensuke confronts Sougo’s group and sends duplicates of the Sisterhood of Karn to fight them. The defeat of Sougo’s group in that battle leads Luna to agree to Akihito’s offer for a new power and he uses the power of Geiz Revive and Woz Ginga Finally to create the Tsukuyomi ABC Ridewatch, which combines with the power of Ohma Zi-O to allow her to assume her upgrade/super form, Tsukuyomi ABC.
At the end of the episode, Akihito gives Sougo the Woz Ridewatch. It is also revealed that Akihito is working with Kensuke and Quartzer as he is sent to go undercover with the Time Jackers…
Episode 34: Assorted Spirits of the Past ~ Villain of the Chaos 2013 ~
Adapted from Zi-O’s final stage show.
In a similar vein to the last episode, the year 2013 in the title is a reference to The Name of Hiroki Ichigo being produced and broadcast in that year. The tagline is a reference to how Hisahide Matsunaga prided himself as a villain in Samurai Warriors 4.
Akihito obtains two blank Ridewatches from Swartz, then uses one of them to turn the Dark Ninja into Another Ninja in 2022. Once Another Ninja is destroyed by Ninja, Okachi and Mizuna, Akihito uses the other blank Ridewatch to create another Ninja Anotherwatch, which he uses on Iroha Kagura in 2019. Kensuke makes contact with the three Riders and offers to help them stop Another Ninja as he brings them to 2019.
Back in 2019, the Time Jackers recreate Another Shinobi, Another Quiz and Another Kikai as well and set them on the Ninja Riders as they fight Another Ninja. Sougo and his friends arrive at the scene only for Kensuke to send the Dorks out at them. As Zi-O’s side manages to gain the upper hand, Kensuke demoralises Zi-O by revealing that in 2013 of the actual (Hiroki’s) timeline, he would murder the Dorks’ leader. Upon returning home, Mirror World Sougo berates Sougo for getting scared over killing one person in the future when he would end up killing many more people as Ohma Zi-O. Hearing his friends talking about his past, Sougo heads downstairs to explain himself, which is received by reassurance from the others that it isn’t his fault that people see him differently.
Elsewhere, Hiroki and Kayley are upgrading their K-Touches to be compatible with their X equipment, creating the K-Touch 21 for Hiroki and the Ultimate Complete Form upgrade for Kayley with the help of Firerose, Narutaki and Akari contributing their powers and assistance to streamline the Rider powers more efficiently.
Later, Akihito brings Lugiel, Copper Plume and Rally Flag to fight Hiryuu’s group while the Time Jackers and Another Riders attack the city, where they are met by Kensuke and the Ninja Riders, who in turn are met by Sougo and his friends. Sougo and Geiz use Zi-O Woz Armor and Geiz Bibill Armor in the ensuing fight alongside Woz Ginga Finally and Tsukuyomi ABC, though they end up having to upgrade to Grand Zi-O and Geiz Revive. Hiroki and his friends also arrive, with Hiroki and Kayley debuting their new extra final forms, Decade Complete Form 21 and Diend Ultimate Complete Form. The other Sougo sees this battle happening and summons Rentarou, Isamichi, Reimondo and Handles to help defeat their Another Rider counterparts.
At the end of the battle, Rentarou and Isamichi see that Another Ninja was actually Iroha and they encourage her to enrol in the Leapfrog Ninja Academy so she can protect herself. Akari Ichigo reveals to her husband that because the Future Riders didn’t originally exist in this timeline, they are contributing to the worsening distortions in time and space, which leads Hiroki to finally decide that this world will be destroyed. With this battle, the Time Jackers have their full Another Rider Army.
Episode 35: Sonika Unleashed ~ Second Coming 2020 ~
So, you know how I initially cancelled my plans for Crestor Calandia as Another OOO after Chris-chan’s arrest in late-July 2021? Nearly a year later, it was revealed that Chris was attempting to get his mother placed in an aged care home in order to be able to return to 14BC. I think you can see what inspired me to write this original filler episode.
Sougo and his friends are walking on the waterfront when they notice an island in the distance that was never there before. Sougo and Geiz go to investigate and they discover that Swartz and Kensuke are investigating as well. Agreeing to a truce for the time being, the four of them discover that they are in this project’s version of Cwcville, namely Hayasaka. As the four are attacked by the Sonikas and Rosekas within Hayasaka, their comrades are being attacked back on Minato-Sugaru Island and are forced to retreat after being overwhelmed. This scene’s battle features the main Sougo using Decade Armor Origin (because Decade’s power was given back to Hiroki though he still had a remnant of it for Grand Zi-O) and the return of Geiz Genm Armor. Yeah, I’m one to highlight lesser-used forms to get more value for money out of them.
Later, Hiroki and his group head to the mysterious island to investigate while Crestor Calandia goes to 9TO5 to get Mark to clean three medallions. From Hiroki requesting Shinbu Serizawa to do some research in the Reading Room and Crestor talking to Mark, we get the backstory of this situation; Megumi Sonozaki snitched on Crestor’s “soul bonding” with his mother Beatrice and was forced out of his home by police, at which point he also “borrowed” some money from his mother’s account. Crestor was arrested for this, but during the trial, his previous crimes and transgressions were taken into account because his universe is one that has no sympathy for eccentrics like Crestor. As a result, Crestor was imprisoned in Stormcage, the most secure prison in his universe.
Even though Crestor remained largely compliant and resigned to his fate, he managed to manifest psychic powers over time and escape with the help of Sonika and his comrades, eventually managing to commandeer a spaceship and escape to Sougo’s universe. The authorities in Crestor’s universe have authorised a shoot-to-kill order on sight because they have been unable to contain his power.
After meeting back up with Sougo, Hiroki overhears Mark’s call with him and upon hearing medallions being mentioned, they and their friends quickly rush to 9TO5, but they are unable to stop him charging up his medallions and prevent the second coming of Crestor. Following this, Sougo and Hiroki’s groups team up with the Time Jackers and Quartzer to fight Crestor and his forces. During the battle, Zi-O briefly notices Another Decade defending Another Diend and Another Gold Drive from being ambushed.
Crestor and his forces are all defeated, but the island where Hayasaka stands flies out of the ocean and to the location of the battle as it shoots at everyone. It is revealed that the Crestor they fought was just an avatar; the real Crestor is inside the mayor’s office, which is the cockpit for his spaceship that was disguised as an island. Barlckxs, Zonjis and Zamonas sabotage the ship with their Ancient Rider powers before the Riders destroy it with their Rider Kicks.
Episode 36: A Girl Named [Akari] ~ Showdown 2019 ~
Adapted from Zero-One episodes 34, 35, 37 and 41.
This episode was named after Akari Ichigo’s real-life inspiration like I didn’t do just that 3 episodes ago. During this final week of episodes, Kazuto begins counting down the pages until the end of the world.
After Sougo and his friends defeat some of Sougo’s old enemies that were summoned by Kensuke, Swartz confronts them as Another Decade, proclaiming that he will subjugate humanity and create a paradise for the oppressed. It is then that Button Mash comes from nowhere and attacks Another Decade; Another Decade shoves him off, but his father, Janbit, stands between them, not wanting to let his son be hurt. Later, Swartz recalls how he protected his family on separate occasions in the last few episodes. Sougo also realises this and decides to help Swartz remember who he really is.
Meanwhile, Kensuke goes to the 2012 of Hiroki’s timeline and creates another parallel isotope; namely that of Akari Ichigo around the time when the Hiroki of that time became Sougo. Using his Future Note, Kensuke manages to send 2012 Akari through an Aurora Curtain into 2019. As Sougo fights Swartz in an attempt to convince the latter that he was a father before he became a Time Jacker, Heure joining in the battle before Swartz ends up defending him, 2012 Akari suddenly appears. The sight of her causes Sougo to regain the rest of his memories (which he had been slowly regaining since episode 30) and he quickly takes 2012 Akari away, only managing to escape the pursuit of the Quartzer Riders thanks to Woz Ginga Taiyo.
As Parker and his army decide to make camp on the island following heated tensions on the mainland, Sougo introduces 2012 Akari to his friends at 9TO5. The reason why Sougo hasn’t fully regained his memories despite meeting Akari previously is because 2012 Akari is from the same time period as Sougo and thus is in sync with him. Kensuke tells Hiryuu’s group that 2012 Akari is Sougo’s lynchpin to becoming Ohma Zi-O.
2021 Akari tells her younger self about what will happen to her in the future despite Hiroki warning what would happen if she did that. Sure enough, 2012 Akari becomes horrified by this and runs off. Hiroki receives a report from his comrades back home, who inform him that paradoxes are forming in his world and having two parallel isotopes of Akari are causing them to expand faster. Meanwhile, Kensuke reveals Quartzer to the world in a press conference and announces their intention to eradicate the Time Jackers. As the two groups meet up with their forces and begin fighting each other, Sougo goes to help Swartz while the others help find 2012 Akari. This might go against Sougo’s character, but even if he decided to go find Akari, chances are she’d continue running.
Zi-O manages to defend Another Decade from Proto Woz’s Time Explosion to show Another Decade that despite his goals, he still cares for his family. The two of them agree to a truce and they work together to defeat Proto Woz, who angrily retreats. Though Swartz admits that he underestimated Sougo, he makes it clear that his stance on humanity still hasn’t changed.
Meanwhile, the others find 2012 Akari, who says that she doesn’t want to see Sougo again if it means he will become a monster (not the vilest and evilest demonic overlord, though). They convince 2012 Akari that 2019 is the best place for her to be right now because of all the paradoxes and she eventually agrees to stay at 9TO5 as their new tenant.
Episode 37: The All Riders All-Out Attack ~ Ohma Time 2068 ~
Adapted from Zi-O episode 49 and Zero-One episode 42.
2012 Akari dreams about being saved from Ohma Zi-O by Sougo, only to be shoved aside as Swartz transforms into Another Decade Complete and rushes at Ohma Zi-O. Akari wakes up after this and heads downstairs to find Sougo, who had woken up a bit too early. The two decide to go on an early morning walk when they are attacked by Hiryuu, Hisahide and Evil Akari, who defeat Sougo and steal the Zi-O II and Grand Zi-O Ridewatches.
As Queen Fifi, Angelina and Karen Brewer meet with Parker, Kensuke combines the power of the Grand Zi-O Ridewatch into the Zi-O II Ridewatch, which is the key to Sougo becoming Ohma Zi-O. He also adds in battle data from Sougo’s friends and the Quartzer Riders, which will allow the power of each and every Rider to be drawn to Ohma Zi-O like a magnet.
Sougo is brought back to 9TO5 as he is returned the Grand Zi-O Ridewatch in a package. Meanwhile, the first of the enemy fleets arrive on the island as Parker readies his army to defend it, with the Legend Riders assisting in the defence as well. Seeing the chaos happening, Swartz hijacks a news crew’s cameras and announces that the Time Jackers’ subjugation of humanity begins now.
Swartz summons half of his Another Rider Army, but 2012 Akari goes to him and tries to convince him to stop the fighting, telling him to look into his heart and believe in humanity. Swartz, however, says to 2012 Akari that he doesn’t need a heart because he never had one, before proceeding to kill her with an energy blast. Swartz was originally an AI program; an avatar created by Hiroki and placed in a supercomputer with the purpose of looking after his former wife and even his creator when the time came for it, only to go rogue and break out with his family to enact his revenge against humanity.
As Zi-O is fighting the Another Rider Army with his friends, he hears an explosion and goes to find the dying 2012 Akari, who tells him that if he loves her, then he should help Swartz find his heart. Suddenly, all the Riders who hadn’t given their powers away or had their powers stolen, save for Sougo’s friends, Decade, Diend, Kuuga and Shugo, suddenly find themselves detransformed as their powers are stolen; the only reason why it doesn’t happen to the latter four is because they voluntarily channeled a portion of their power into Ridewatches.
As the Time Jackers confront Geiz, Woz and Tsukuyomi, the battle is suddenly intruded by Ohma Zi-O; Sougo’s voice menacingly ordering Kazuto to rejoice is what reveals him to have become the ultimate king of time; the true Ohma’s Day has arrived. Another Decade tries to take Ohma Zi-O’s power for himself but the power overloads him as Ohma Zi-O easily shrugs him off. Ohma Zi-O launches an attack that detransforms everyone before being detransformed himself due to being overwhelmed by his new power. It is revealed that Evil Akari absorbed 2012 Akari’s body into the Zi-O II Ridewatch and gave it back to Sougo, who uses it in his Ziku Driver to turn it into the Ohma Zi-O Driver and thus transform into Ohma Zi-O. The end of the episode has Sougo breaking down into tears as Evil Akari tells him that she will be by his side, addressing him as her God Almighty…
Episode 38: Overlords and Gods ~ Judgement Dawn 2003 ~
Adapted from Zero-One episode 43.
Ohma Zi-O goes to the mainland and passes judgement on Sougo’s past-life enemies by using his powers to brutally kill them. Heure asks Swartz why he killed 2012 Akari, to which a guilt-ridden Swartz says that all he did was execute justice. Quartzer reveals to Sougo’s friends that Sougo has not only become the vilest and evilest demonic overlord, but he has also become the purest and dearest god and judge of humanity (最浄最愛の神様), much to Kazuto’s disdain of his overlord being addressed in such a manner. Akihito also reveals to Sougo’s friends that he was working for Quartzer all along.
Back at 9TO5, Geiz and Luna are hesitant to tell Mark the truth but Kazuto does it for them, saying that they can’t lie to him when the fate of two timelines is at stake. As such, the three promise that they will bring Sougo back to normal. Hiroki and his friends come in and they are filled in on what is happening.
Sougo later heads back to Minato-Sugaru Island where he is confronted by Hiryuu, who mocks Sougo for saying that he wouldn’t become the vilest and evilest demonic overlord before becoming one anyway. The two of them fight, but Ohma Zi-O manages to defeat him. Sougo’s friends try to stop him, but he brushes them off. The other Sougo calls him out for losing his way; the two Ohma Zi-Os fight and the other Ohma Zi-O is beaten; he notes that he could feel an even deeper sorrow in the main Zi-O’s attacks and offers his help, only to be met by silence.
Sougo then uses his powers to see into different timelines of himself and manipulate Hiroki’s timeline. This would be seen by Hiroki, who transforms into Decade Complete Form 21 to fight him, knowing the truth about who continually manipulated his timeline. Sougo responds in kind by transforming into Ohma Zi-O and projecting the memories around him into Decade’s brain. However, Decade retaliates by projecting memories of himself and his friends in his own timeline like how the Thirteenth Doctor escaped the Matrix (with the instrumental chorus to Journey Through the Decade playing in the background). The two of them defeat each other and Hiroki manages to escape.
Swartz assembles the other half of his Another Rider Army as Sougo confronts him in battle…
Episode 39: Find Your Heart ~ Twilight Dusk 2018 ~
Adapted from the Geiz Majesty special and Zero-One episodes 43 and 44.
Ohma Zi-O fights Another Decade. After making quick work of the Another Rider Army, Ohma Zi-O prepares to finish off Another Decade only for Heure as Another Diend to leap in and take the attack, which kills him. As Zi-O leaves, Hisahide arrives and uses a blank Ridewatch to absorb Heure’s body and create the Decade Complete Anotherwatch.
Swartz announces that Sougo has become Ohma Zi-O and because he killed Heure, there will be no place for him in his paradise of the oppressed, making his crusade against humanity personal. As Sougo runs away out of fear and guilt at Parker and his friends constantly asking him questions upon seeing him, Swartz goes to the mainland and does the same thing Sougo did when he became Zi-O, which is to initiate his powers by killing Sougo’s past-life enemies. Later, Ora meets with Swartz and tries to tell him that he has a heart, but his mind is too clouded by the desire for revenge to even realise it.
The Kamen Riders have split into two camps; with the exception of those affiliated with Sougo, Hiroki, Kayley, the Kougami Foundation, Torchwood North or Quartzer, the Riders are marching around the island to demand answers from Sougo regarding his actions and the loss of their powers. Among one of the protesting groups, Marcello pushes through the barricade and charges towards Yūki Tachibana, leading him to be held down as a result. Yūki orders Birth to fire at Marcello’s head; as Birth hesitates, Luna and Kazuto arrive and tell them not to shoot. At the town centre, Parker and his comrades also plead with another group of protesters to believe that Sougo will find the true way of becoming a hero.
Elsewhere, Geiz finds Sougo with the intent to carry out his promise of killing him when he became the vilest and evilest demonic overlord; Kayley arrives as well to ask Sougo if he is betraying his own dreams and the hearts of the Kamen Riders who entrusted their powers to him. Kayley throws a spare K-Touch to Geiz, which becomes the Geiz Majesty Ridewatch that Geiz uses to fight Ohma Zi-O, only to end up failing.
Later that night, Sougo recalls Geiz and Kayley’s words as he is lost in his own thoughts. It is then that he hears the vaguely familiar sound of a materialising TARDIS, with the Doctor coming out to talk to Sougo…
The next day, the Riders have agreed to stop protesting as Geiz and Hiroki’s groups meet with Yūki Tachibana. Ora is revealed to be present as well, giving them the Diend Anotherwatch in the hope that they can restore Heure’s consciousness because like Swartz, he was an avatar as well.
Meanwhile, Sougo and Swartz finally meet as they transform into Ohma Zi-O and Another Decade Complete to duke it out once and for all…
Episode 40: Parting in the Daybreak Hour ~ Apocalypse Over Quartzer 2019 ~
Adapted from Zero-One episode 45, Zi-O episode 49, the Over Quartzer movie, the final stage show, Reiwa The First Generation and the Geiz Majesty special along with Ryuki episode 50.
Fun fact: The Japanese translation of this title would be 彼は誰時に別れ (Kawataredoki ni wakare). Just as Ōmagatoki 逢魔時 refers to the witching hour, or the sunset, Kawataredoki 彼は誰時 refers to the daybreak hour, a time when you can’t tell someone’s presence in the dark, or the sunrise (I’ve seen it refer to the sunset as well, but Wikipedia seems to make reference to the the sunrise so it was a good complement).
Ohma Zi-O and Another Decade Complete fight to determine the true king of time, this battle being a reflection of their adapted roles as Aruto Hiden as Ark-One and Horobi as Ark Scorpion. During this battle, there are Legend Rider weapons scattered around which are picked up and used by both opponents.
Meanwhile, Geiz and the others manage to resurrect Heure, who tells Kensuke, Akihito and the Quartzer trio that they don’t understand the real reason behind this battle as they have lost their righteous hearts. Another Decade Complete manages to defeat Ohma Zi-O as the latter puts his life at stake to show the former that he has a heart like anyone else. This was inspired by the Doctor’s words to Sougo, that true strength isn’t about how much power one has, but about what is in one’s heart. Swartz finally realises the impact of all the people he killed and admits that it was his fault that Heure sacrified himself, that he was scared of all the human feelings getting in the way, because despite what he may say, he does have a heart. Ohma Zi-O’s power leaves the Ohma Zi-O Driver and creates the Zi-O Over Quartzer Ridewatch, allowing Sougo to transform into Zi-O Quartzer, appearing identical to his default form. Zi-O manages to defeat Another Decade Complete with the Quartzer Time Break, but refraining from killing him as there isn’t a need for it anymore.
Heure and Ora meet with Swartz as Andrew, Hiroki and their friends meet with Sougo; they were able to restore Heure’s body after the Decade Complete Anotherwatch was destroyed, plus the Riders have regained their powers as well. The Zi-O Riders, Decade Riders and Time Jackers are confronted by Quartzer, who have brought an army of Kachinebots from the future. The enemy armies from the mainland begin invading the island, but they are held off by Parker and his allies. As the group transforms, Sougo transforms into Zi-O Quartzer while Geiz transforms into Il Salvatore Geiz thanks to some of the former’s power going to his Ridewatch (again appearing identical to his default form).
Most of the Quartzer Riders are defeated, but Proto Woz, Woz The Next and the Quartzer trio manage to defeat the Decade Riders and Time Jackers, before defeating Zi-O and Geiz as well. The Quartzer trio summon seven Dai Mazines from the future (instead of bring them back up from episode 8) to launch into space and link up in the sky, opening a portal into the Time Vortex that begins to suck up everything and everyone born in the Heisei era. Sougo is thrown into the Time Vortex as well and after a quick speech from Ohma Zi-O, transforms the Zi-O Quartzer Ridewatch into the Ohma Zi-O Ridewatch, which he uses to transform into Zi-O Ohma Form, officially inheriting the demonic overlord’s power.
The Kamen Riders, Time Jackers and Parker’s army work together to destroy the enemy armies and Kachinebots. Kensuke still remains undefeated, however; the Quartzer trio combine their personal Ridewatches together with the Ancient Rider Ridewatches and the Zi-O and Zi-O II Ridewatches to merge into Another Ohma Zi-O, while Kensuke and Akihito combine with the Woz Ridewatch and Ohma Zi-O’s power to merge into Another Ichigou.
As the other Riders are defeated, leaving only the primary Riders (in their final forms) and Geiz, the other Sougo arrives as Ohma Zi-O and assists the main Zi-O in fighting Another Ohma Zi-O. Hiryuu, through Another Ohma Zi-O, tells the main Zi-O that it is his fault the Heisei era is such as mess and asks him how much more he wants to mock him before he is satisfied, to which Zi-O tells him that he will lose because anyone who doesn’t look forward is only doomed to be left behind in the past.
Another Ohma Zi-O is defeated by Zi-O Ohma Form and Ohma Zi-O; as a weakened Another Ichigou sees this, he absorbs Another Ohma Zi-O into him to evolve into Another New Ichigou, acting as the giant Barlckxs from the Over Quartzer movie. Zi-O, Geiz and the primary Riders finish them off with the Heisei Rider Kick, kicking through a shield that Another New Ichigou conjures to form the kanji characters for Heisei (平成) before each Riders’ series logos fly out from the explosion. Another New Ichigou is destroyed along with the Quartzer commanders.
The other Sougo farewells the main Sougo as he leaves on his own journey to the future. The main Sougo meets with his friends, including Hiroki, Parker, Swartz and Mark. Although they have saved the world and can rule over it together into glorious perpetuity, Sougo refuses as he decides to destroy this timeline and restore everything back to normal. Although he may never have a chance to be king again, he also wants to create a future where he can fight together with Geiz, Luna and Kazuto. Sougo farewells his future self and his friends as the timeline is destroyed. The Time Jackers are returned to the supercomputer with a new mission to watch over humanity and walk the path of kindness instead of revenge. The Kamen Riders (and any allies who originally came into the Ohma War) float away from this timeline as it disappears.
Time goes back to normal in July 2012 of the main timeline, but with some minute changes. The original Kazuto ends up back in the cell he was in when Ohma Zi-O rescued him, but it has now become a storage room after the war ended and Kazuto is a free man. The Hiroki of that time (who never became Sougo) makes an impromptu stop at 9TO5 where he gives something to Mark to repair, but just as he goes in, he encounters Geiz, who was just leaving, and the two look at each other with vague feelings of familiarity, like Shinji Kido and Ren Akiyama did at the end of Kamen Rider Ryuki.
The parallel isotope Kazuto witnesses Hiroki and Akari sharing their first kiss before farewelling the audience. He meets with Ohma Zi-O in a white void as his timeline is disappearing; the demonic overlord thanks Kazuto for his service and releases him to live his own life, but Kazuto says that his original self is doing just that and that he wants to follow his overlord to the end. Hearing this, Ohma Zi-O gives Kazuto his final order, which is to find the new timeline that Sougo created and look over the Sougo in it, for there may come a time when the demonic overlord must rise again. Kazuto thanks Ohma Zi-O and takes his leave as the demonic overlord disappears, finally free of his pains and burdens.
Although the series’ endgame was adapted from Zero-One, I thought it was paced better than the original Zi-O’s endgame. I strived to improve on the failings of the original series and in my opinion, did a good job despite 80% of the series being a carbon copy of the original and the rest being a walking ego-fest. If you think I could have done a better job adapting the series, feel free to share your thoughts and opinions.
While the main series of Zi-O is done, there is still more to cover, namely the Before Quartzer mini-series, the After Quartzer specials, the background to the series and some clarification on character details. See you for the last few instalments of this run of Kisekae Insights.

01.05.23 We watched Puss In Boots: The Last Wish (2022). IMDb link: https://www.imdb.com/title/tt3915174/ Puss In Boots: The Last Wish is a 2022 computer animated adventure film produced by DreamWork's Animation and distributed by Universal Pictures. It is the sequel to the 2011 film Puss In Boots. It is directed by Joel Crawford and co-directed by Januel Mercado. Based on the character from Shrek 2 (2004) and inspired by the fairytale, the films screenplay was written by Paul Fisher and Tommy Swerdlow, with a story by Swerdlow and Tom Wheeler. The voice cast of Puss In Boots: The Last Wish includes Antonio Banderas and Salma Hayek reprising their respective roles as Puss In Boots and Kitty Softpaws. In Puss In Boots: The Last Wish, Puss In Boots and Kitty Softpaws team up with Perrito (Harvey Guillén) to find the mystical wishing star to obtain the last wish in order to restore the first eight of his nine lives. Also hunting the star are Goldilocks and her three bears crime family (Florence Pugh, Olivia Colman, Ray Winstone and Samson Kayo) as well as Big Jack Horner (John Mulaney). At the same time Puss In Boots tries to avoid a mysterious hooded wolf (Wagner Moura). For the action packed plot, see wiki link: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Puss_in_Boots:_The_Last_Wish Work on the first draft began in 2012 and by 2014 the working title was Puss In Boots 2: Nine Lives and 40 Thieves. In August 2020, DreamWorks trademarked Puss In Boots: The Last Wish as the new title. The voice cast members were announced in March 2022. The director Joel Crawford wanted the film to retain the adult humour from previous films and also for the film to have a darker tone with the film focusing on Puss' mortality and fear of death. The story uses the concept of Puss being in the last of his nine lives in order to tell a story about how to enjoy life. He drew inspiration from fairytales by the Brothers Grimm, ''Cautionary tales that took you somewhere dark to make you appreciate the light.'' They also depicted Death as a wolf, just as wolves in Brothers Grimm stories were depicted as ''The personification of fear''. Other influences include Spaghetti Western films like 'The Good, The Bad and The Ugly'. As with DreamWork's previous film 'The Bad Guys (2022)' it was decided to make the Last Wish look more like storybook illustrations than previous Shrek movies. Using new technology provided by Lenovo, DreamWorks made the film look like a painted fairytale world quite different from that of Shrek and the original Puss In Boots. Puss In Boots Lenovo hardware links: https://www.lenovo.com/us/en/servers-storage/infrastructure-dreamworks/?orgRef=https%253A%252F%252Fwww.google.com%252F https://news.lenovo.com/pressroom/press-releases/preferred-workstation-innovation-partner-for-dreamworks-animation/ Puss In Boots: The Last Wish was animated with Premo and rendered using MoonRay, DreamWork's Production Renderer. MoonRay was first used in How To Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World (2019) and continues to be used today in many of their recent productions. In February 2023, DreamWorks released MoonRay as free, open-source software under the Apache License 2.0. https://openmoonray.org/index Puss In Boots: The Last Wish is shown in the 2.39:1 (Cinema-scope) aspect ratio. The musical score was composed by Heitor Pereira, replacing Henry Jackman from the first Puss In Boots. Additionally three original songs were composed specially for the film: 1. La Vida es Una performed by Karol G and co-written by Karol G and Daniel Ovledo. 2. Fearless Hero performed by Antonio Banderas and co-written by Dan Navarro and Paul Fisher. 3. Por Que Te Vas performed by Gaby Moreno and co-written by Gaby Moreno and Heitor Pereira. Some of the music from Shrek 2 which had been composed by Harry Gregson-Williams was used in the film. The soundtrack was released in December 16th 2022 by Black Lot Music. Puss In Boots: The Last Wish premiered at the Lincoln Centre in New York City on December 13th 2022 and was theatrically released on December 21st 2022. The film debuted a new logo opening for DreamWorks Animation showcasing characters from The Bad Guys, How To Train Your Dragon, Kung Fu Panda, The Boss Baby, Trolls and Shrek with a remastered fanfare composed by Harry Gregson-Williams, mixed with several notes from the 2019 fanfare composed by John Powell.
View the new DreamWork’s logo opening in 4K UHD here:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zm6LCMdEHJw Puss In Boots: The Last Wish grossed $484.4 Million worldwide as of May 26 2023 and was a box office success. It is the 10th highest grossing animated film of 2022. Puss In Boots: The Last Wish was critically well received with an approval rating of 95% and an average rating of 7.6/10. Puss In Boots: The Last Wish was released digitally on January 6th 2023 for streaming and home media. Then a collectors edition was released on February 21st 2023, including a 4 minute CGI animated short film called Puss In Boots: The Trident. This was released on UHD Blu-Ray, Blu-Ray and DVD. As I've watched the first Puss In Boots and done a recent review on it I decided to checkout the sequel. Link to Puss In Boots (2011) review: https://www.tumblr.com/bjsmall/715865254211584000/100423-we-watched-dreamworks-puss-in-boots?source=share I think that the computer generated visuals are really impressive compared with the first Puss In Boots. I liked the way it is styled like picture book paintings and the movements of the characters appeared jerky like in a classic cartoon. The story is Definity darker perhaps appealing to more adult audiences while retaining much of the adult humour of its predecessors. My favourite character in 'The Last Wish' is Perrito, a chihuahua pretending to be a cat! Character wiki page: https://theadventuresofpussinboots.fandom.com/wiki/Perrito I like Perrito's friendly and caring nature towards Puss In Boots.

Here's my updated list of the songs in Hazbin Hotel.
@bloodypeachblog @fatgumsurpremacy-remastered @pr3tty-jennie
16. It Starts With Sorry (Episode 2)
It's a good song, but way too cheesy for my liking.
15. Whatever It Takes (Episode 3)
Again, good song. Cheesy. I do like Zestial's voice though.
14. Welcome to Heaven (Episode 6)
It's a good song, but compared You Didn't Know, it's not nearly as good.
13. Finale (Episode 8)
It's a good song to end the series on, but it's kinda boring and long. Also Val and Vox making out makes me oddly jealous. I honestly want to hear Valentino sing more.
12. You Didn't Know (Episode 6)
Good song! Definitely my favorite in this episode. It's just filled with too many story beats and it's kinda distracting.
11. More Than Anything (Reprise) (Episode 8)
It's a reprise of one of my favorite songs in the series between the cutest power couple in the series. I love Charlie and Vaggie as a couple and this song is so cute.
10. Ready For This (Episode 7)
I love Charlie and the cannibals' showmanship. This may be bias due to my love of broadway. It's so good.
9. Respectless (Episode 3)
I like Carmilla and Velvette's voices so much. I'm not a fan of rap in musicals unless it's Hamilton or something, but this one is pretty good.
8. Happy Day In Hell (Episode 1)
This one moved up due to my newfound love of the song. Charlie's showmanship is one of my favorite things about her. Love her.
7. Hell Is Forever (Episode 1)
This may be my love of Alex Brightman's voice, but this song fucking rocks. It's just a generally good song.
6. Out For Love (Episode 7)
This one is pretty good. Sure it's short, but it's so good. I love Carmilla's voice and how much charm her songs have.
5. Hell's Greatest Dad (Episode 5)
Continuing the theme of charm. Lucifer has so much charm and I love him for it. Alastor's cheeky ass also makes this song 100 times better.
4. Stayed Gone (Episode 2)
Yeah it moved down from my last list, but it's still a good villain song. Alastor and Vox have such a good relationship and I love it.
3. Poison (Episode 4)
Addict 2.0, but it's so much better. This song is a perfect reflection of Angel's personality and his job. I just generally want to hear him sing more.
2. More Than Anything (Episode 5)
This song made me tear up when I first heard it. Lucifer and Charlie's relationship is so cute. Also their voices work so well together.
1. Loser, Baby (Episode 4)
Still number one because damn this slow burn relationship is adorable. This is also a good reflection of Husk and Angel as characters. Just a great song.

It's finally here... my review of the final episode of RWBY Volume 9. Criticism under the cut. Don't like it, keep scrolling.
Yang and Ruby still got bigass heads
I'll immediately digress for a moment to talk about how funny I find the discrepancy in head sizes between the characters in this show
Tumblr media
Winter got that Megamind-lookin-ass head
No but for real every female character in RWBY seems to have a significantly wider skull than the men it's so funny to me
Winter's brain has infinite wrinkles
So the first thing we see Summer do after putting the kids to bed is, potentially, lie to her husband (Qrow mentioned that even Ozpin was in the dark about Summer’s final mission, and I’m assuming that we’re seeing that mission here). Seems like she wasn’t quite the paragon everyone in-universe seems to believe.
The Summer/Tai scene was kind of cute I guess
Raven what the fuck are you doing did you just hang out in a tree so you could make a dramatic entrance to impress a girl
Fucking loser-ass bird
Okay, so I was right and Summer is definitely lying out her ass, and Raven’s in on the deception.
I’m guessing whatever this is is what broke Raven, maybe? She's evidently already left her team and probably the fight, but maybe this is what utterly destroyed her hope?
Lmao Raven you’re such a fucking dork you have no rizz like mother like daughter I guess
Not that you had any right to claim Yang as your daughter even before she turned into Yuck
Damn, Summer, throw some shade. Raven deserves it tho, fuck her.
At least Raven’s well aware of her failings as a parent.
Summer just walked through her just like Yang did at Haven iirc like mother like daughter 2.0
I’d care more about this bit of Summer lore if she was an actual character instead of a Macguffin that had barely received any definition over 9 Volumes despite supposedly being important
Looks like Ruby has to come to terms with the fact that her mother wasn’t a perfect paragon after all, which is what actually matters right now, inasmuch as anything that happens this Volume actually matters
I’m vaguely curious about what her mission actually was but frankly at this point it’s too late to get me invested in Summer. If the writers wanted me to care about Team STRQ as an entity or any members other than Qrow and maybe Raven, we needed to learn a lot more about them a lot sooner.
Great. Back to Jaune. It appears Weiss failed to adequately remove him from the narrative. Try harder next time, Weiss.
You love seeing Weiss and Yang working together. Here’s how Freezerburn can still win...
Brilliant. We free Neo with the power of magic marijuana. Can this Volume get any stupider? Can we get a decent action scene at any point? Find out next time on JauneyBall Z
The weed made the Cat stronger lol. Stupidest villain of all time.
Lmao get wrecked Jaune.
Again.
Hooray, Ruby’s learned an important lesson about how she’s actually enough and doesn’t have to constantly struggle to meet everyone else’s expectations of her. If only she’d learned that in a way that didn’t involve killing herself and then getting magic tree therapy.
At least the reprise of her theme is decent I guess
No hesitation left about taking up her scythe at this point, but then that magically disappeared 2 episodes ago
Ruby looks competent in a fight against something more intelligent than your average Grimm for the first time in literal years, we love to see it
Team RWBY really is so much stronger when they work together than when they try to fight alone. At least we managed to be consistent with a theme here.
Fight was anticlimactic as hell. Would’ve been fine as a mid-Volume skirmish, but not as the capstone fight that’s supposed to serve as the pinnacle of the Volume.
RWBY’s fights have been pretty lackluster since the end of Volume 7, but Volume 9 was especially bad about it. I can barely even remember that this Volume had fights in it, much less name any that were actually compelling. For a show that built itself on badass fight scenes, RWBY has really fallen far.
“Weak… confused… incomplete…” Are you talking about humans or yourself, buddy? (It's both)
And of course Ruby’s teammates place her right back up on a pedestal because the entire theme of this Volume seems to be “learn as little as possible”
Like seriously way to instantly undermine your own theme with zero self-awareness. Really makes WBY seem like they understand and care about Ruby.
Like was the whole point of the Volume not Ruby grappling with the fact that she was, in fact, those things her team said she wasn’t?
Wow okay having the Cat be messily devoured by a bunch of Jabberwalkers was certainly a choice. 2 major nonbinary characters in this show and both of them are a) animals and b) violently killed. Wonderful. Rooster Teeth’s progressive storytelling strikes again.
Now that Ruby’s looking back at Neo I bet we get a fucking redemption arc I fucking hate it here
At least Neo’s too exhausted to pose a threat while everyone else hugs it out. You’d think they’d be a little more wary of her given her track record but whatever, I don’t even care anymore, I just want this to be done with.
Roman's new voice still bothers me. It's not annoying or flamboyant enough to fit the expectations set by the old one
WHAT IS WITH THIS SHOW AND PORTRAYING SUICIDE AS THE SOLUTION WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK WHO ON THE WRITING TEAM HAS A SUICIDE FETISH
It can’t be Miles or Kerry because this shit only started showing up in, like, Volume 8, so it has to be Eddy or Kiersi.
Why are we even wasting time on Neo she’s done absolutely nothing to deserve sympathy at this point
Boo hoo she has a sad backstory that we don't even learn in the show proper, doesn’t give her carte blanche to be a sadistic little cunt every time she’s on the screen
I’m sure that if this show ever gets that far she’ll show up as an ally later on. Fucking Christ.
Yes, Blake, I do think you made things worse, but also I don’t care because the Ever After sucks. Please just walk through the door so we can finally be done with it.
If you did any good, Ruby, I can’t name it.
Great, the mouse is back. Woohoo.
Guess it was Little’s mask the Blacksmith was forging after all
Oh look Ascension does wipe your memory
Almost like going through with it would’ve resulted in a death of personality for Ruby, but hey, it’s just magic tree therapy, right? This is a good thing, yeah? Fuck you MKEK.
Finally.
They’re back in the Tree. I had hoped we were done with this shit.
Looks like a carving of the hawk guy on the table, so I guess he’ll be okay
Damn, are those carvings of the Brother Gods? It’s already been implied that they’re connected to the Tree somehow, but I’m starting to think maybe it predates them.
Okay didn’t take long to confirm that lmao
So they’re the first beings born from the Tree, huh? Can’t imagine the tree is proud of its kids
No wonder the Ever After is so strictly regimented and has so many things mashed together, it’s Baby’s First World
Of course they immediately dump the problems on the Cat lmao
God there really is nothing likable about the Brother Gods for real
Oh look the God of Light is bitching about balance again. Good to know he’s consistent, at least
Aaaand Jaune is young again. I knew they’d never have the balls to make it permanent. Characters might have to grapple with the implications of the changes if they did, and RWBY doesn’t like grappling with the implications of anything
Are we gonna have bullshit time travel shenanigans after all this too
So we get our first glimpse of Vacuo (with the Mexico filter applied at full power) and it looks like somehow the people still on Remnant managed to fix up Amity Colosseum and get what’s left of Atlas’s air fleet to Vacuo. Interestingly, I think I can see aircraft designs from Mistral/Vale, which doesn’t make a ton of sense when Volume 7 established that telling the world about Salem would cause mass panic and we know both of those Kingdoms are currently struggling to survive as it is (Vale has to deal with the impact of the Fall of Beacon, Mistral lost a bunch of Huntsmen because Lionheart sent them out to get killed), but whatever. I’ve given up on this show giving a shit about consequences or consistency.
What even was the point of this Volume? Anything remotely relevant could've happened in an hour-and-a-half movie instead of wasting resources on that dumbass Justice League crossover no one wanted or asked for
Hell, all of it could've been trimmed down to like 2 episodes if you just drop them into the Tree with the Blacksmith, have them confront their insecurities and shit, and then send them back to Remnant
Honestly, literally all of it except maybe the stupid-ass lore dump could've happened in fucking Vacuo instead of this dumbass knockoff Alice in Wonderland crap. The Bees could've confessed there and done it organically instead of being forced to admit their feelings by a rogue weather condition. Ruby could've had her breakdown there. Idek what else of relevance even happened besides Jaune's manpain and frankly at this point I don't care about that. Even the loredump could've been worked in somehow with a little effort tbh
Instead we get this stupid fucking mess that doesn't even give us any reusable assets lmfao great allocation of the budget when your company is already struggling financially and all your hopes are pinned on this dogass show specifically
Anyway I hope Volume 10 never manifests. Not only is Rooster Teeth shitty and bigoted and deserving of a violent death as a company, these writers are painfully incompetent and actively promote harmful messages like “suicide is the solution to your problems” and “minorities can be equated to animals for comedic effect”. This shit does not deserve to continue, and neither does the company that makes it.
I'm pretty much done RWBYposting at this point. Just gotta clear out 2 or 3 asks and then I can finally be free of this hell

What Else Can I Do (Isa's Song in the tone of, "Waiting On a Miracle"
Hi! So, I wrote ANOTHER songs involving @toaverse AU where Pepa and Bruno Swap Places. The context of the AU Officially so far in on their blog, so make sure to check that out along with the other asks relating to this AU to get an idea about the lore within it. It’s a heavily detailed lore so far as people really liked the idea of Villain Bruno. To be honest, I do as well cuz why not. A few lyrics are difficult to rhyme, but I think I did a fair amount of a good job.
Bruno here is married to Ozma (The Fish Lady) and had Dolores, Camilo, and Antonio as his kids instead of them being Pepa’s kids. Pepa isn’t married at all because her being the black sheep of the community made no man want to be with her. Every man except Felix which is also within the AU, and if you want to know more about him then ask @toaverse. Mirabel is the Golden Child as people felt sorry for her not having a gift due to it being “Pepa’s Fault” to her gift linking her emotions to the weather. Since Mirabel is now the Golden Child, Isabella is the outsider. She still has the gift of flowers, but since her plants link to her emotions (Just like Pepa’s gift) then they treat her like Pepa 2.0 and worry that she can damage them due to her emotions. Abuela distancing herself away from Isabella and constantly reminding her to keep her emotions steady, and even not letting Isabella grow her own flowers unless she got Abuela’s permission.
The version of this song here is Isabella’s, “What Else Can I Do” song in the tone of  “Waiting On A Miracle”. Mirabel’s song near the end of the plot will be vice verse with her “Waiting On A Miracle” in the tone of  “What Else Can I Do”, and I am planning to write that as well as the Reprise of  “Bruno’s Knows It”, but waiting for further context about it to make the lyrics be good enough for the plot.
Special thanks again to @toaverse for letting me write this song idea for the AU as my mind is hyper fixated over the angst of this story. They also wrote in a few lyrics that really helped me set this song up, so thank you!
–(A Few Details Below of the Song Parody)–
Red with Brackets are the scenes that act out throughout the song and provide a bit more of the lore from the lyrics. A lot more here to understand more of the lore for this song to happen
Orange are the characters and italicized as talking in order to separate the song from dialogue easier.
Green bold is where the music parts are with beginning, change of tone, and then the ending of it.
Finally, bullet pointed purple (or black) is the actual song lyrics parodied.
I apologize for any typos cuz I sometimes miss them. I also never watch the movie, only through clips about it. So, if I get any scene wrong, I apologize for it.
–(Song Parody Begins Below)–
[The oldest out of the third generation Madrigal, Isabella Madrigal, hiding in the corner side of the curtain; her dress blending her in with her flowers she had permission to grow for this occasion. It was her youngest primo’s gift ceremony! She stayed behind, watching him walk down alone on the red colored tiles while wanting to join along with her family in the crowd, but everyone (Especially Alma) didn’t want to her accidentally ruin this for him by suddenly growing random plants that would cause people allergies from the pollen or wounds from the thorns of her roses]
[Upon reaching to the top of the stairs and going through what was rehearsed, he touched the doorknob as others held their breath on what gift the youngest Madrigal could possibly get. If he would be able to get a gift that is. Unlike the unlucky Golden Child of the family, Mirabel, who’s own ceremony got ruined but she was still loved (Heck, the most loved) out of her family. Antonio’s door began to glow with the magic from the candle in Abuela's hands. All of a sudden, a random toucan landed itself onto Antonio’s arm making him shock then smile as the toucan squawks]
Antonio: “Uh-huh! Uh-huh! I understand you”
[More squawking came from the toucan as Antonio answered back with his joyous giggles, “Of course they can come!”. The toucan now squawking louder, calling for its other toucans friends to join in the party. Not only toucans, but many more varieties of animals going through the crowd and up the stairs to be at Antonio’s side. Isabella could barely see the imprint of Antonio’s door when the golden particles dissipated, but she could give a good guess of what his gift was. Zoolingualism; the ability of communicating with animals]
Abuela: “We have a new Gift!”
[Her Abuela exclaimed to everyone within Casita who was celebrating who cheered within the greatest they could ever have for his new power. Isabella wanted to jump for joy as well for him, but she needed to keep her emotions in check. It was difficult to handle her gift that was tied to her emotions. Only one person knew how that felt. She mustered her calmness and whatever courage she could to join with the crowd and see inside Antonio’s new bedroom. She was way behind everyone to avoid their glares, similarly to a certain person she was definitely not, hearing one of the other kids exclaim, “It’s bigger on the inside?!”.]
[She nearly tumbled on the bottom steps of the stairs as a surprised jaguar rushed through and into Antonio’s room. An array of random pink and white tiny flowers bloomed on Isabella’s head in the shock of it then hid herself at the side of the stairs to dispose of the tiny flowers repeatedly blooming as she tried to quickly remove the rest in worry. She took so long that by the time she actually entered the room, she could see her family all piled together for a family photo. A family photo without her]
Madrigal Family (Except Isa): “La Familia Madrigal!”
*Soft Music Playing*
I’m not perfect, I’m just unexpected.
I’m alright. I’m not misdirected.
[Time slowed down as she approached her family. Conflict, confusion, and other emotions coursing through her but hidden because the dangers of her gift; even as she sang]
I’m just me, the very one, Isabella Madrigal.
Got a different gift, but very similar to compare.
They know it's me, but why do they make it unfair?
I’m not her. I’m just not like her.
*Music Starts Up More*
What else can I do to make them see me?
What else can I do to prove my worth?
What else can I do to make myself stand as my own plant on earth?
[Each question she asked herself as she approached her sisters first who were the favorites out of the three of them. Ever since her own gift ceremony, the very first one for the third generation of Madrigals, people looked at her differently]
What else can I do?
[They treated the girl as a warning. As if her gift linked with emotions would cause a massive amount of destruction like her, and people do think that she was her. Approaching her Tio Bruno and her own Mama Julieta, they thought she was cursed like their ex-sister Pepa]
What else can I do to make them listen?
What else can I do to make them refrain? What to explain?
What else can I do? What can I even say?
[She looks completely saddened that her family is happy without her in the picture. Back then, they used to look at this expressive little girl with a variety of emotions her family and the townspeople would pay no mind to. However, after she received her gift, people began to avoid her and she was told constantly to refrain from strong emotions]
What else can I do? Can I do.
[She ran out of the room so her family couldn’t see the wonders of her gift she could no longer hold back by the broad range of her emotions]
I do grow vines by the mile.
I do grow flowers, all with a smile.
[She slowly went down the steps of the stairs with a hand held on one of the side railings that grew out thin green vines and a colorful variety of flowers by her touch]
Why is it so vile? Why can’t I try?
Why am I always denied?
[She jumped off the last step and into the middle lane space kept apart as villagers danced within their own mind of celebration]
Can they see that I’m different?
Can they see that I’m not arrogant?
[Isabella started up to her Abuela’s bedroom show that imprinted the name of  ‘Alma Madrigal’ with the image of her holding the miracle candle. She went up and more questions as she was desperate for answers]
Can just one be at my side?
Could they open their eyes?
Open your eyes, just open your eyes!
[She faced Abuela casually holding the candle and smiling proudly at all of the family members, but not to her as she continued to sing begging for her Abuela to see that she was different before going off]
I can be more of what they believe.
I am indeed different. I am Isabel.
I know that I can excel. Where can I go?
[She knows that she’s different and shouldn’t be hiding away her gift treated as a curse, letting her emotions be swayed and express out through her floral wonders with no worries each step she takes]
What else can I do? Can I do.
[A full image of Casita went to her view. The usually plain, colored house has more color from Isabella’s side of her room blooming with the pinkest of flowers stretching to the welcoming doorway of Casita. She went through the door, continuing to use her gift without needing permission from her Abuela as she imaged her family looking at her with each a proud look to her gift]
I can show them that I’m innocent.
I can show this family something new.
Who am I inside? So, what can I do?
I'm sick of being seen as a criminal, so here I go!
[She stepped on the bottom of the stairs and raised both of her hands in the direction of  Casita’s roof with a big vine growing from her palm and lifting herself up at the sights of the beginning firework show A large yellow firework popping behind her into the shape of the shining sun as many other colors exploding uniquely like flowers as she ran on the roof]
I am ready! C'mon I’m ready!
I've been patient, and steadfast, and steady.
[She begged with all her might to the sky for the miracle to hear her before growing another vine on her foot to slide her down in the middle of now empty bottom floor of Casita, expressing out that her last line loudly to the direction of the miracle candle in view of the window sill]
Let them see me differently than their point-of-view.
I know what I can do!
[Her expressing of desperation turning a solemn sadness as she look back down, making sure there were no signs of vines she would be yelled at if seen]
So, what else can I do?
