I think she looks like a girl… maybe it’s the long, glowing hair, the seductive eyes, what appears to be a delicate frame or maybe the hint of Tortie coloring… When I slid my second stick under the sliding front, Ms. or Mr. Pawsby, leaned forward to smell my stick. She leaned forward & practically put her nose right on the stick. I am not nor have I ever been a “a cat whisperer” but that makes me think she is not completely if at all, feral. She is however, scared, uncomfortable & nervous. There was a lot of lip licking which is the same in cats as it is dogs…. Stress. I was stressing her, me & my sticks although she was curious about the stick. She is scared & not, outwardly friendly. She didn’t move from the cubby, didn’t want any affection from me & I’m sure, released a sigh of relief, once I left. Now she needs somewhere to go. She is not friendly enough to be adoptable & she can’t be TNR’d. Her only option is Rescue. Ghost is a friendly Ghost, and he needs a hero to get him out of here!‼️ Ghost is 5 years old, 56 lbs., and this stocky meatball has been at the shelter since being surrendered almost TEN MONTHS AGO. Ghost originally came into East Valley shelter on 5/24/21, where he was a volunteer favorite, and was transferred to North Central in late October. Ghost seriously loves some toys!He will chase a Jolly ball as long as allowed 😅, and loves to carry soft toys around with him– even while he climbs on your lap to be pet. Volunteers have been working with Ghost to connect more, and have found he is quite treat motivated too! Ghost knows his ‘sit’ and ‘down’ commands, but could use some further training on leash and ‘drop it.’ He wants us to remind you that all dogs in LA are eligible for free training at the Paws for Life k9 Rescue facility in Mission Hills! Staff and volunteers are sad to see that poor Ghost has started to deteriorate after so many months in the shelter. He’s exhibiting signs of stress and making it hard for staff to clean his kennel. Ghost’s previous owners surrendered him after he bit one of the small dogs in the home while treats were being given. Ghost has had pleasant interactions with other med/lrg pups through the fence at the shelter, but we believe that for now Ghost should be an only pup, or go to a savvy rescuer or handler. Per staff, “He was returned due to the owner having some medical issues.” Good ol' boy Elijah! He is a 10 year old white and brown pit bull terrier weighing in at a healthy 66.8 lbs. With one blue eye and one brown eye he is quite handsome! Elijah has indications of trauma that can be seen under his neck, along the left side his neck looks to have been shaved at some point. He also has a few lumps that are concerning around the penis and scrotum areas (visible in the videos). He is very energetic and very people oriented 💯‼️ He was not interested in investigating the yard whatsoever.. Elijah's fees have been paid so there are no adoption costs to bring him into your family. Not dog tested yet but stay tuned, we'll be sure to update videos for this sweet boy! It is believed he endured these injuries from some sort of trauma like being hit by a car or being thrown from one. He needs out of the shelter and to a full service vet. The shelter named him Lil Baby Roe Roe Jr and gave him till 5pm Friday (2/25) to find a rescue. The shelter states he is very sweet and purred during all interactions. They tried hard last night with no luck. The cat ran behind a fence and never came back out. The rescue team will go again tonight. The preliminary plan is to bring the cat to the vet tomorrow.
