The second to last list anyone would want any dog on. With overcrowding, the risk of them each being moved to the absolute last list any dog would want to be put on increases significantly. The love I have for some of these dogs is undescribable. This is Dutchess. She is one of the few dogs that looks far better after her time in the shelter than she did when she came in. She was underweight and had dry flaky skin. That is not to say she wouldn’t like to have a home where she gets out twice a day for walks or yard time. In a few days I’m going away for a while. Going off-line. I’ll miss the dogs terribly. This is one dog I will miss a lot. But it’ll break my heart if she still there when I come back. She is so affectionate and playful. And I know she hasn’t been a good match with everybody. But with the right person I think she’s going to be a rockstar. No kids. Introduced Dutchess to Carlos. Starting to open up her world. Making sure more handlers get to know her and she gets to trust more people. Part of the process in certain dogs. I won’t sugarcoat it. I love her. I’ve had no issues with her. But apparently she’s had issues with others (not staff or volunteers). I think she’s awesome. But… She’ll probably require someone who is very savvy.
