LA CEIBA, UN PUNTO EN COMÚN

Aquella mañana, en la pupusería La Ceiba en el barrio madrileño de Tetuán, solo se escuchaba el bullicio de una mesa de más de treinta comensales que ocupaba la totalidad de uno de los laterales del local. Si algo destacaba en aquella reunión, era la diversidad. Se encontraban compartiendo mesa desde un representante de la embajada de El Salvador hasta estudiantes de 1º de periodismo de la URJC, pasando por periodistas, fotógrafas y vecinos del barrio de Tetuán. La escena se caracterizaba por ese peculiar alboroto de las grandes comidas, pues mientras la grasa del chicharrón del interior de la pupusa se pegaba en los dedos de los invitados, se intercambiaban comentarios, carcajadas y opiniones.
–¿Cómo se comen?
–¿Hay que mojarlo en la salsa?
–¡Qué rico!
–Pues la verdad es que a mí no me gusta mucho...
Los ojos de la camarera brillaban mientras explicaba con orgullo y paciencia cómo se comía aquel manjar de humildes ingredientes. “Tenéis que pellizcar los curtidos y la salsa de tomate usando un trocito de la pupusa”, nos advertía. Unos se mancharon las manos, otros prefirieron los cubiertos, hasta hubo quienes se lo comieron como un taco, pero absolutamente todos disfrutaron la experiencia.
El grupo hablaba, tomaba fotos y comía con gusto, como si fuera cosa de cada martes. Era tal el barullo de las conversaciones, que los propietarios del local bajaron el volumen de la música, que ya había pasado a un segundo plano desde el entrante.
A pesar de la diferencia de edad y de que apenas se conocían y de que pocos compartían el lugar de procedencia, la charla fluía animada y todos habían encontrado un punto en común aquel martes a la hora de la comida.
Al terminar el banquete, los comensales regresaron a sus casas con el estómago lleno y la cabeza despejada. Habían conseguido deshacerse de los prejuicios que tenían sobre la gastronomía salvadoreña, habían coincidido con gente interesantísima que les había acompañado a lo largo del proceso y sobre todo habían disfrutado de aquello por conocer. Agradecidos por la vivencia, siguieron con sus vidas sin olvidar aquel martes donde disfrutaron de la gastronomía, la gente y la cultura de El Salvador.

Physical Requirements
As a member of our Squad, you will be working in a kitchen environment, rotating between front and back of house. This requires walking, bending, twisting, reaching, stooping, kneeling, crouching, pushing and pulling to handle or move objects weighing up to 50 pounds. You will also be asked to operate hand-held appliances and simple kitchen equipment (industrial can opener, dough press, industrial dishwasher, etc.). Depending on the location, you may need to go up and down stairs. The ability to communicate and exchange information with coworkers and others is also required. The ability to comply with all public health requirements, including wearing a mask, is required.
Working Conditions
High noise levels due to operations, customers and overhead music (including, but not limited to, rock, punk and alternative)
May be indoor or outdoor setting depending on store (varied weather conditions are expected); including delivering order curbside to the customer
Will work near moving or mechanical parts
Varying schedule to include evenings, holidays and extended hours as business dictates
Must be authorized to work in the United States
