Differences Between Korean And English Dub, Pt. 1: Switches and Hitches

was rewatching the kor. version of tobot and decided: hey, i want to cringe really bad today, why not watch the eng. version simultaneously?

primary differences in switches and hitches (not necessarily in chronological order):

diluk's selfie scene right before the train departs is cut short; probably to minimize the amount of re-animating they needed to do, because the platform diluk was uploading it to had korean script on it

when semo raises the flying chair to volunteer, professor noh says "that's the man for the job" instead of "there's a really strong person"

also i had no idea professor noh sounded like such a southern cowboy in the eng. dub he just sounds like an old man in the original

the packages in which the tobots are being carried away in are just gray blocks with bars; in the kor. version they looked like toy packaging. they probably changed this because korean robot toy packaging is unique-looking and the foreigners wouldn't get the joke. original boxes (sorry for the bad quality):

limo's primary concern is not semo's safety, it's giving him directions. in the korean dub, limo reminds semo that he's right beside him at all times and that semo should relax and put safety first; very sweet father moment

semo sounds so FORCEFUL in the english dub; he sounds much more mature, relaxed and yet more serious in the original version

after semo touches down on the train, there's a moment where he puts his hand against the box in which z is held and promises that he'll get z out. also another sweet moment that didn't make the cut for the eng. ver. because the camera angle suggests a clear front for the box, which wouldn't make sense because the dub portrays the boxes as opaque blocks.

also, because the above scene was removed, semo isn't seen taking off the flight chair

while semo's walking along the edge of the train, the camera does an epic pan out thing that's really cool; it puts the mission into a lot of perspective. dub cuts this out to minimize re-animation, and semo is mysteriously missing from limo's angle.

doeun gets slightly motion sick because of limo's reckless driving; removed in the english dub

generally semo's mission is a lot more dynamic and limo's va gets more emotional in the kor. ver.

while hana is reading, officer oh teases him about it in the kor. dub instead of saying "the old ryan is back"

limo gets incredibly scared when semo gets sprayed with the hot air; semo also sounds more panicked; more suspense. apparently limo thought semo had fallen off the train. english dub kinda glosses it over ("wE cAn'T hAvE poSSIbLe ChiLd lOss oR suSPense oR fEar")

when angela leaves, she tells heejuk he won't hear from her again, but in the kor. ver. she says he can contact her anytime. and in the kor. ver. that's not heejuk's "card", it's angela's payment because she's hired.

Another IS OmniMech!? This time a Strider -- it's like a Javelin, but even more so. This particular paintjob is nothing special, just more of the Arkab theme that's been touched on in previous posts. The model, however... This is the Strato Minis "Reiver" from their Retrobots line. Technically, it's made for their HardWar game, but c'mon. We all know what this guy is meant to be. Wink wink nudge nudge. Seriously, those guys made some amazing battletech proxies, and I hate hate hate to use the past tense, but their webstore has been mostly emptied out due to a corporate restructuring as they seek out an owner for their IP. Best of luck to them, but their stuff may, for now, be unobtanium.

Finally got one of these guys done. The Charger, patron saint of brass-balled Mechwarriors everywhere.... or maybe you're just on punishment detail. The PGI design that they used for MWO and MW5, of which this is, is just so iconic that it pains me to see the way CGL went for their new plastic Charger coming out next year.

Nothing special to say about the paint job except that Basilicanum Grey may be a bit too dark for a Legion of Vega paint scheme. Let's talk about that BASE, though. Not to toot my own warhorn too much, but damn I'm proud of it. Crackle paint on two sides, layered buildup of technical paint for the riverbed and banks, drybrushing shades of beige for highlights, ProAcryl pale ivory down the riverbed and then a mix of blue and green AMMO Crystal Acrylics (bit heavier on the green than I intended), gloss varnish on that, then 2mm Gamers Grass tufts mixed with terrain flock lets the scene just bloom.

FOX Kids revival!!

Here's Me and Lupi's idea for Saturday & Sunday morning to early evening FOX Kids revival on FOX (plus NEW FOX Kids app). First up are some Japanese shows. This includes English dubs of the latest Ultraman and Mask Rider (Kamen Rider) shows and Old and new Digimon shows and movies. Next are the Koreans. This includes Classic OG Tobot (season 1,2,3,and 4, Athlon spinoff and Daedo's Heroes sequel) by Retrobot, Tobot Galaxy Detectives (reboot by Studio Button), and Shinbi's House(Haunted House). The ones from China will be Alpha Group's Infinity Nado generations 3, V, and 6. Now for LEGO of Denmark. This shall include Ninjago, its sequel, Dragons Rising, the game show LEGO Masters, and Dreamzzz. And Finally FOX Children's ORIGINALS from Bento Box Entertainment. And YES, it'll include a Lupi Frankenfox series(Charlie Adler is his voice actor).It might include reboots like one of FOX's Peter Pan and children's Bob's Burgers and Simpsons spinoffs. And the latest Power Rangers adaptation And there you have it. A perfect revival for FOX Kids.

Stranger Askblog is an ask blog focused around the TV series Stranger Things, rewritten and retold by fans of the story. While the main part of the story won’t be revealed explicitly just yet, this is an AU going through all the seasons.
