-Roasted Dandelion Coffee Replacement-
We might like coffee, but that doesn't always mean that coffee likes us. If stomach trouble, burnout, and jitters have you needing to give up your favourite morning ritual, turn to this herbal alternative. Roasted dandelion offers a similar taste without the afternoon crash. Together with roots like chicory and budrock, this blend supports the liver's detoxification process and promotes glowing skin, while ashwagandha replenishes the nervous, digestive, and endocrine systems that coffee depletes.
MAKES 4 CUPS OF TEA
3 tablespoons roasted dandelion
2 teaspoons ashwagandha
1 teaspoon chicory
1 teaspoon budrock
1 teaspoon cacao nibs
OPTIONAL: A few drops of gentian flower essense, a pinch of cinnamon and/or cardamon, coconut creamer or oat milk, a favourite herbal honey such as Hawthorne Rose Honey (Link TBA)
NOTE: all herbs should be cut and sifted. Leave out cacao nibs if trying to remove caffeine entirely
To create this blend, add all the ingredients to a pint jar, put the lid on, and shake to combine. Label the jar with the tea name, ingredients, and date you made. Store out of direct sunlight.
To prepare the brew, add 1 tablespoon of the blend per 8 ounces of water to a french press, a jar of your choice, or a reusable tea strainer. Cover and steep for 10-15 minutes depending on desired strength. For an even more robust flavour, add filtered water to a small pot and bring to a gentle simmer. add 1 tablespoon of the blend per 8 ounces of water to the pot and simmer, covered, for 5-10 minutes. turn off the heat and steep, still covered, for an additional 10-15 minutes. Strain and serve with your favourite fixings.

Yay thank you as well! :D
3. what, if any, disability aids do you use? (mobility aids, sensory aids, braces, communicative devices, IVs, etc. meds also count here). do you customize them/their containers/outsides?
Oh heck yeah is this another excuse to talk about how cute my new pill boxes are?
Tumblr media
I needed a new system to better keep track of my mid day pills so here it is! It had been a few years and I was honestly looking for an excuse to update!
Another fav mobility aid I use is my sunflower covered cane! I feel like it always brightens up the world around it a bit and I get a lot of compliments!
(That’s not all my mobility aids but those are some important ones I took time to personalize!)
6. what's something good that's come out of being disabled?
Honestly they’ve made me way better at being around and understanding where kids are coming from! My autism helps me relate when the one year old I baby sit is sensorily overwhelmed, my body not cooperating generally helps me understand why they get frustrated about not being able to stand unsupported.
I hate when people are really rude about teenagers, because as a person with BPD and ADHD I empathize so much with their brain development and how they process things as a result!
Side note but it makes me so mad that disabled people are considered bad parents by default for this exact reason.
10. whats something youve come up with or integrated into your life that makes disability easier, besides typical aids?
POTS is the kind of chronic illness where you need like systems upon systems upon systems.
My environmentally conscious followers are gonna hate this but keeping around emergency 16 oz water bottles, especially in my car, by bed, and in my purse, is a literal life saver. (I do carry around a gallon of water when I can but it’s not always something feasible for a lot of reasons.) I also have flavored salt tabs dispersed EVERYWHERE in my life. I not only have reusable ice packs of all sizes in freezer but I have emergency single us ones in the car.
12. what's something (a struggle, a symptom, a weird phenomenon, or even a funny experience) people don't realize about your disability?
So I’m low vision from birth in one eye due to a benign growth on my optical nerve but one thing that some POTSies are even surprised by is how much my POTS can affect my vision on a bad day.
Midodrine is a gdamn miracle drug I swear because a lot of my waist up POTS problems are finally more manageable and predictable, but like when it comes to driving I am much more worried about my vision plummeting than fainting behind the wheel when it comes to safety concerns related to the disorder.
(I wouldn’t be shocked if this is also tied to my neurodivergence in some way too because how well I am coping with that aspect of life seems to play a role too?)

Celebrate Your Love & Embrace the Earth: Eco-Friendly Sustainable Wedding Ideas for the Modern Indian Couple
Tumblr media
In an era where sustainability has become more than just a trend, modern Indian couples are choosing to celebrate their love while embracing eco-friendly practices. Weddings, historically opulent and resource-heavy, are now evolving into thoughtful and responsible events. For couples who wish to honor both tradition and the environment, eco-friendly weddings offer a perfect blend of cultural heritage and sustainability.
From the vibrant mehndi ceremony to the sacred saat phere, there are countless ways to minimize waste, reduce environmental impact, and create a wedding that’s not only beautiful but also respectful of the planet. In this guide, we’ll explore creative, sustainable wedding ideas that ensure your special day is a celebration of love, community, and the earth.
Sustainable Wedding Venue Selection: Keeping It Local & Green
One of the first and most impactful decisions for a sustainable wedding is choosing the right venue. Instead of large, energy-intensive banquet halls, consider outdoor locations like eco-resorts, organic farms, or garden spaces. These venues not only reduce the need for artificial lighting and air conditioning but also bring you closer to nature. Many eco-conscious couples are also opting for home-based weddings in ancestral houses or boutique hotels that use renewable energy sources.
If you’re hosting a destination wedding, try to minimize long-distance travel by selecting locations close to where most guests reside. Opt for venues that have a clear eco-friendly policy, such as those with solar panels, rainwater harvesting systems, or waste management programs.
Tip: Research eco-certified wedding venues that align with your values and provide beautiful, natural backdrops.
Invitations: Going Digital or Plantable
Traditional wedding invitations can often lead to significant paper waste, but modern couples have eco-friendly alternatives that are just as personal and beautiful. Consider sending digital invitations, which not only save paper but also reduce the carbon footprint associated with delivery. Several platforms allow for creative, customizable e-invites that can be tailored to fit your wedding theme.
For couples who want to maintain the charm of physical invitations, plantable wedding cards are an excellent choice. These cards, made from seed-infused paper, can be planted to grow herbs, flowers, or trees—leaving behind a positive environmental footprint.
Tip: Use eco-friendly inks and recyclable materials if you prefer printed invites.
Wedding Attire: Ethical Fashion for the Bride and Groom
The wedding attire is a huge part of the celebration, but it’s also an area where sustainability can shine. Look for designers who specialize in sustainable fashion, using organic fabrics like khadi, cotton, and silk. Many Indian designers are now embracing slow fashion, crafting exquisite bridal wear that’s both eco-friendly and deeply rooted in tradition.
You can also consider renting your wedding outfits or repurposing heirloom clothing. Vintage bridal attire or family sarees and lehengas not only add sentimental value but also reduce the environmental impact of new production.
Tip: Support local artisans by choosing handwoven and handcrafted outfits that preserve traditional skills while promoting sustainability.
Eco-Friendly Décor: Nature’s Elegance
Décor plays a major role in setting the mood of the wedding, but it can often involve plastic, foam, and other non-biodegradable materials. To keep your wedding green, focus on natural, reusable, or recyclable décor options. Use locally sourced flowers, potted plants, and organic materials like jute, wood, and bamboo.
One growing trend in sustainable Indian weddings is the use of upcycled or repurposed décor items. For instance, vintage lanterns, glass bottles, or even discarded furniture can be transformed into stylish décor pieces. Additionally, eco-friendly lighting such as solar-powered string lights or candles made from beeswax or soy can help create a warm, sustainable atmosphere.
Tip: At the end of the event, donate flowers to hospitals or reuse them for other wedding ceremonies like the sangeet or reception.
Sustainable Catering: Conscious Choices for the Feast
Indian weddings are famous for their lavish feasts, but food wastage can be a huge issue. One way to minimize waste is by opting for a smaller, locally sourced menu. Choose seasonal, organic ingredients from nearby farms or vendors, reducing the carbon footprint associated with transporting food.
Consider vegetarian or vegan options, which are not only traditional in many Indian weddings but also more sustainable. A buffet-style arrangement can sometimes lead to overproduction and wastage, so plated meals with portion control can be a better alternative.
Tip: Partner with food banks or local charities to donate leftover food, ensuring nothing goes to waste.
Zero-Waste Wedding Favors: Thoughtful Gifts for Guests
Wedding favors are a memorable way to thank your guests, but they often come in the form of plastic trinkets or excessive packaging. Instead, consider zero-waste or eco-friendly wedding favors such as:
Potted plants or succulents
Organic spice blends or herbal tea kits
Reusable cloth bags or eco-friendly accessories
Handcrafted artisanal goods from local markets
These not only make for thoughtful gifts but also align with your sustainable wedding goals. Packaging should also be minimal, using biodegradable or reusable materials.
Tip: Offer guests experiences like donations to a cause or a tree planted in their name, which adds a meaningful touch to your celebration.
A Legacy of Love & Sustainability
By planning an eco-friendly wedding, you’re not just celebrating your union; you’re making a conscious decision to honor the earth. With mindful choices, from selecting sustainable venues to using biodegradable décor, modern Indian couples can create weddings that are rich in tradition while leaving a minimal environmental footprint.
Your green wedding is a statement of love—not only for each other but for future generations. The legacy of your celebration will not just be captured in photos and memories, but in the positive impact left on the planet. As you embark on this beautiful journey together, may your love grow as deep as the roots you’ve planted for a more sustainable future.

Week 8: Consult Notes
Grad Show Proposal Ideas:
3 channel mediated performance. Displayed on old monitors/CRT tv sets.
Proposed install sketch [3 monitors scattered across the floor, with cords visible]:
Tumblr media
Feedback:
Artists and texts to research: Simone Hines and performance art text by Anne Marsh.
Think about tech requirements for show, including sound and where tv sets are going to be sourced from.
Think about possibility of also having live performance as well as installation. This could have a set time during opening night.
RESEARCH/NOTES:
[A look into the performative practice of Simone Hine and Anne Marsh's paper 'Performance art and its documentation']
Simone Hine:
Tumblr media
"Falling, 2019 Two-Channel Video Installation
Falling is part of an ongoing series of video works that take what might be a few seconds from a film and expands this temporally and spatially. While cinema is evoked via the framing, stillness is used to halt the ordinary flow of narrative. The work’s deadpan style, combined with the multi-channel expansion of the scene, further inhibits narrative. Instead, the camera lingers on the body as an object in space, positioning the video somewhere between performance documentation and cinema. In contrast to the cinematic framing, the gesture is reminiscent of Youtube videos of people tripping on catwalks and other staged events, blurring the boundary between impromptu and staged acts."
Tumblr media
"Today, tomorrow., 2016
Multi-channel video installation. 3 x Synchronised 55" LCD monitors, 3 x Samsung Android tablets, DMX-controlled lighting system, stereo sound, architectural construction. 10mins30sec loop.
The videos are reminiscent of cinematic narratives, but do not reference any film in particular. Instead they evoke only an atmosphere that finds no resolution. The idea that a cinematic image could continue endlessly suggests that it might extend to the space beyond the frame. The light that spills from the screen is amplified via the bank of lights on the wall.
This work evokes cinema, to speak of the ways in which these familiar images permeate the world beyond the frame."
Tumblr media
"Once More, 2015 5-Channel Video Installation, documenting a 107 minute continuous performance, 9 March 2015.
Once More is a provocation regarding the nature of live performance and documentation.
The five-channel video has the appearance of a small incidental scene from a 1960s sitcom that is looped continually. Contrary to appearances, the five-channel video documents a continuous performance: a series of events that are repeated again and again, over the 107 minute duration.
Once More uses popular forms as an alternative language through which to reflect upon, critique and to explore themes central to the history of feminist performance art, including authenticity, presence, the construction of feminine archetypes, failure, and endurance."
https://simonehine.com/
Tumblr media
"A single image documents a public intervention that took place in an arcade shopfront in the CBD of Meanjin (Brisbane), Australia, on the 18th of August 2018 from 10am – 4pm.
Édouard Manet’s Bar at the Folies- Bergère (1882) and Jeff Wall’s Picture for Women (1979) act as precursors for this work.
Bar at the Folies- Bergère depicts a scene from a prominent 19th century Parisian music hall, part of a culture that arose as a by-product of industrialisation. Picture re-imagines this scene in the context of late-capitalism. The trapeze is replaced by a hanging pot-plant, bottles of alcohol replaced by reusable coffee cups and green-bags. Each of the items displayed in the shop front are marketed via a discourse of environmental awareness, while simultaneously functioning as luxury commodities, an effect of the ubiquitous absorption of even the most pressing political debates of our time into modes of capital distribution. As with Bar at the Folies- Bergère, the scene presented in Picture is laden with irresolvable contradictions. "

Notes:
"Video and performance art developed side by side and interacted from the late 1960s onwards. Although these two mediums can be seen as separate, the relationship between them is integral if any history of an ephemeral medium such as performance art is to enter art history"
"The perceptual, phenomenological and aesthetic shifts that occur between a live event and its representations present complex theoretical problems. How can the 'live' be reproduced?"
"Walter Benjamin famously critiqued the way in which the aura of the work of art disintegrates through its reproduction - through the photographic image - but his message was as much about the quasi-religious iconic status of the original work of art as it was about photography. In fact, in some respects, he saw mechanical reproduction as a form of democratization and an emancipation for the arts"
[On witnessing Jill Orr's 'She had long golden hair'] "Having been at the performance these photographs act as prompts and allow me to recall all the other aspects of the performance. But when I show these images of the performance I need to tell the experiential story so that those looking at the photographs for the first time understand that there was more going on. The point is that the photographs read out of context and without embellishment don't convey the depth nor the context of the event. This is an issue that plagues performance art."
"She argued that the performance is made to be received experientially and that any translation of that experience is bound to fail. However she does not believe that it is impossible to critique the event without being there. She says: "In broader cultural and historic terms events are analysed well past the event... There are no living witnesses to the crucifixion of Christ, and, whether this occurred or not, die image still lives and die biblical stories told of supposed first hand accounts still have powerful sway" "
"hen a performance event is documented via a camera, whether on video, film, photographic surface or digital screen, it enters into a relationship with another medium. In doing so it becomes a remediation"
Reflections:
Performance films/photographs: Document OR remediation OR separate object?
Their are clearly differing opinions on the matter, but perhaps I would agree in saying that the live performance cannot truly be reproduced via other mediums.
In live performance (in dance or art) there is an undeniable sensory/affectual/associative response that occurs in being near another human body. There is a shared understanding or reflection of the bodies experiences that the viewer perceives from the performer.
ie. The performer's hand moves, the viewer's brain and sensory body imagines how this feels for the viewer. In real time.
There is an element of this which is lost through the reproduction, a certain disassociation with the image. It is no longer a live body, but an image of a body.
I think also the viewing of the reproduction is a much more private and voyeuristic experience. Taken away from the gathering of people that occurs at a live performance. Their is no collective watching (normally), now it is just between the viewer and the image.
A certain depersonalisation perhaps. Loss of risk, relationship, affect.

What are some eco-friendly office cabin designs?
As businesses become increasingly aware of their environmental impact, eco-friendly office cabin designs are gaining traction. These designs not only contribute to a healthier planet but also create more pleasant and sustainable work environments. Implementing eco-friendly office cabin designs can enhance energy efficiency, reduce waste, and improve overall well-being for employees. Here are some top recommendations for creating eco-friendly office cabin designs that align with environmental and corporate sustainability goals.
1. Use of Sustainable Materials
Incorporating sustainable materials is a fundamental aspect of eco-friendly office cabin designs. Opt for furniture and finishes made from recycled, reclaimed, or rapidly renewable resources. Bamboo, reclaimed wood, and recycled metal are excellent choices that reduce the demand for new raw materials and minimize environmental impact. Additionally, low-VOC (volatile organic compounds) paints and finishes contribute to better indoor air quality and reduce harmful emissions.
2. Energy-Efficient Lighting
Energy-efficient lighting is a crucial element in eco-friendly office cabin designs. Replace traditional incandescent bulbs with LED lights, which consume less energy and have a longer lifespan. Consider incorporating daylighting strategies by using large windows, skylights, or light wells to maximize natural light. Automated lighting systems that adjust based on occupancy and daylight levels can further reduce energy consumption and lower utility costs.
3. Green Building Certifications
Achieving green building certifications, such as LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) or BREEAM (Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method), is a significant step toward eco-friendly office cabin designs. These certifications recognize buildings that meet specific sustainability criteria, including energy efficiency, water conservation, and indoor environmental quality. Designing your office cabin to meet these standards demonstrates a commitment to environmental responsibility and sustainability.
4. Efficient Climate Control Systems
Eco-friendly office cabin designs should include efficient climate control systems to minimize energy use. Implementing programmable thermostats, energy-efficient HVAC systems, and smart climate controls can significantly reduce heating and cooling costs. Consider incorporating natural ventilation methods, such as operable windows or vents, to improve air circulation and reduce reliance on mechanical systems.
5. Waste Reduction and Recycling
Incorporating waste reduction and recycling practices into your office cabin design helps promote sustainability. Designate specific areas for recycling and composting to make it easy for employees to dispose of waste responsibly. Use materials with minimal packaging and encourage the use of reusable items, such as water bottles and coffee mugs, to reduce single-use plastics. Additionally, consider integrating furniture and office supplies made from recycled or upcycled materials.
6. Indoor Plants and Green Spaces
Integrating indoor plants and green spaces into office cabin designs enhances both aesthetics and sustainability. Plants improve indoor air quality by absorbing carbon dioxide and releasing oxygen, creating a healthier work environment. Green walls, potted plants, and living plant installations add natural elements to the workspace, which can boost employee mood and productivity. Design your office cabin to include plant-friendly spaces that are easy to maintain and contribute to a greener atmosphere.
7. Water Conservation Measures
Water conservation is an important aspect of eco-friendly office cabin designs. Install low-flow faucets, toilets, and showerheads to reduce water usage. Incorporate water-saving technologies, such as rainwater harvesting systems or greywater recycling, to further minimize water consumption. These measures contribute to overall sustainability and help reduce the environmental impact of your office cabin.
8. Sustainable Flooring Options
Choosing sustainable flooring options is another key component of eco-friendly office cabin designs. Select materials such as cork, bamboo, or reclaimed wood, which are renewable and have a lower environmental impact compared to traditional flooring materials. Additionally, consider using carpets made from recycled materials or those with low environmental impact. Sustainable flooring options not only support eco-friendly practices but also enhance the aesthetic appeal of your office cabin.
9. Smart Technology Integration
Integrating smart technology into office cabin designs can enhance energy efficiency and sustainability. Use smart sensors and controls for lighting, heating, and cooling systems to optimize energy use based on occupancy and environmental conditions. Implementing smart building systems helps monitor and manage energy consumption more effectively, leading to reduced environmental impact and cost savings.
10. Eco-Friendly Furniture
Choose office furniture that is designed with sustainability in mind. Look for pieces made from reclaimed or sustainably sourced materials, and ensure that they are manufactured using environmentally friendly processes. Additionally, opt for furniture with a long lifespan and low environmental impact. Eco-friendly furniture contributes to a more sustainable office cabin and aligns with corporate sustainability goals.
In conclusion, incorporating eco-friendly office cabin designs involves a combination of sustainable materials, energy-efficient systems, and thoughtful design choices. By focusing on green building certifications, waste reduction, and the integration of natural elements, you can create a workspace that supports both environmental sustainability and employee well-being. Implementing these eco-friendly practices not only benefits the planet but also enhances the overall quality and functionality of your office cabin. One can achieve these by getting in touch with the renowned design and build firm such as Flipspaces, who can help you with the same.

Eco-Friendly Autumn Cleaning Tips: Keep Your Home Fresh in Autumn
Eco-Friendly Autumn Cleaning Tips: Keep Your Home Fresh in Autumn
As the leaves change colors and the air grows crisper, autumn brings a sense of renewal that naturally inspires us to refresh our homes. However, this seasonal cleaning doesn’t have to mean harsh chemicals or excessive waste. Embracing eco-friendly practices ensures that your autumn cleaning is as gentle on the environment as it is on your home. Here’s how you can keep your home fresh this autumn while staying green.
Tumblr media
Declutter and Donate Autumn is a great time to declutter your home before the holiday season. Instead of tossing out unused items, sort through your belongings and donate what you no longer need. Clothes, books, and household goods can find a new life with someone else. Recycling or repurposing items reduces waste and supports sustainability.
Use Natural Cleaning Products Switch to natural cleaning products to avoid the harmful chemicals found in many commercial cleaners. Vinegar, baking soda, and lemon juice are powerful, non-toxic cleaners that can tackle most household cleaning tasks. For a fresh autumn scent, add a few drops of essential oils like cinnamon, clove, or orange to your cleaning solutions.
Make Your Own Air Fresheners Instead of relying on synthetic air fresheners, which can contain harmful chemicals, create your own natural versions. Simmering a pot of water with cinnamon sticks, orange peels, and cloves will fill your home with a warm, inviting fragrance. You can also make sachets filled with dried herbs and spices to place in drawers and closets for a natural, long-lasting scent.
Clean Windows and Let in Natural Light Autumn sunlight can highlight the dust and grime on your windows. Clean your windows with a mixture of vinegar and water for a streak-free shine. As the days get shorter, clean windows will help maximize the natural light coming into your home, reducing the need for artificial lighting.
Switch to Reusable Cleaning Tools Ditch disposable cleaning wipes and paper towels in favor of reusable options. Microfiber cloths are an excellent alternative, as they are durable, washable, and effective at trapping dust and dirt. You can also use old T-shirts or towels as rags, giving them a second life before they are ultimately recycled.
Compost Yard Waste Autumn leaves, grass clippings, and garden debris can all be composted instead of being sent to a landfill. Composting not only reduces waste but also creates nutrient-rich soil that can be used in your garden come spring. If you don’t have a compost bin, consider starting one this season.
Refresh Your Linens Naturally With cooler weather approaching, now is the time to wash and store your summer linens and bring out the cozy autumn blankets. Instead of using chemical-laden fabric softeners, add a quarter cup of baking soda to your laundry to soften fabrics naturally. Line drying your linens will also save energy and leave them smelling fresh.
Dust with a Damp Cloth Rather than using dusting sprays that can release chemicals into the air, use a damp cloth to trap dust and prevent it from scattering. This method is especially useful for areas like baseboards, ceiling fans, and vents, which tend to collect dust during the summer months.
Maintain Your Heating System Before the chill sets in, make sure your heating system is running efficiently. Clean or replace your air filters to ensure optimal performance and air quality. If you use a fireplace, have your chimney inspected and cleaned to prevent soot buildup and ensure safe operation.
Switch to Energy-Efficient Lighting As you prepare for shorter days, consider switching to energy-efficient LED bulbs. Not only do they use less energy, but they also have a longer lifespan, reducing the need for frequent replacements. Choose warm-toned bulbs to create a cozy atmosphere that complements the autumn season.
Conclusion Autumn cleaning doesn’t have to come at the expense of the environment. By adopting these eco-friendly cleaning practices, you can enjoy a fresh and inviting home while minimizing your ecological footprint. Embrace the season of change by making small, sustainable choices that have a big impact on both your home and the planet.

Many couples are choosing eco-friendly weddings that express their principles of sustainability and conservation as environmental awareness rises. Planning a green wedding is an opportunity to add creativity, purpose, and commitment to the environment to your special day without sacrificing flair or tradition. This is a thorough guide to organizing an eco-friendly wedding in Pune, covering everything from mindful food to sustainable decoration.
1. Choose a Green Venue
Choosing a venue that takes sustainability first is the first step in planning an eco-friendly wedding. Many places in Pune were having green credentials, like trash reduction, energy efficiency, and community support. Seek out locations that offer eco-friendly construction materials, rainwater collection systems, or solar electricity. Gardens, farms, and vineyards are great examples of outdoor events because they don’t require as much lighting or decoration.
2. Go Paperless with Invitations
When you take into account the paper, printing, and transportation that are required, typical wedding invitations can have a big negative impact on the environment. Rather, use electronic invitations, or e-vite, which are simple to use, inexpensive, and green in nature. If you prefer to send out physical invites, think about using seed paper or recycled paper, which your guests can plant after the wedding.
3. Sustainable Wedding Attire
For environmentally aware couples, Pune’s thriving wedding dress market has a plethora of sustainable options. Seek out designers and shops that utilize recycled, natural, or organic textiles. To save waste, think about renting or purchasing used wedding clothing. Repurposing or upcycling antique clothing or family treasures is an additional alternative that respects tradition and the environment while adding a personal touch.
4. Eco-Friendly Decor
Less is more when it comes to wedding décor. Make an effort to use organic components like wood, flowers, and foliage — all of which may be found locally and decompose naturally. Steer clear of synthetic materials and single-use plastics as they are major sources of pollution. A number of environmentally concerned businesses that specialize in sustainable design can be found in Pune. They provide solutions such as reusable fabric drapes instead of synthetic ones or potted plants in place of cut flowers.
5. Mindful Catering
Any wedding celebration revolves around food, so selecting eco-friendly catering alternates is an important step in having an eco-friendly wedding. Select fresh and organic produce to reduce your transportation-related carbon footprint. Menus that are vegetarian or vegan also use less resources in their creation, which makes them more environmentally friendly. Pune is home to caterers that specialize in farm-to-table meals, which guarantees excellent and healthy food made with fresh, in-season products.
6. Zero Waste Wedding Favors
As they might frequently be thrown away, wedding favors are a wonderful way to say “thank you” to your guests. Select environmentally responsible favors that are lasting and meaningful. Seed packets, handcrafted soaps, and reusable products like bamboo straws and cloth bags are some options. As a zero-waste option, think about making a donation in your visitors’ honor to a nearby charity.
7. Transportation with a Low Carbon Footprint
During weddings, transportation can contribute significantly to carbon emissions, particularly if guests are coming from a distance. To lessen carbon emissions, promote carpooling and offer group transportation choices such as buses or shuttles. For an eco-friendly and distinctive wedding party option, think about renting bicycles or electric cars. Your requirement for transportation may be reduced significantly if your ceremony and reception are held at the same location.
8. Eco-Conscious Wedding Gifts
Instead of receiving traditional gifts, ask your guests to make charitable donations or eco-friendly gifting. You can make an eco-friendly brand registry or ask for contributions to be used toward eco-friendly activities such as a home renovation project or honeymoon.
9. Offset Your Carbon Footprint
Even with the best efforts, some carbon emissions are unavoidable during a wedding. To counteract this, consider purchasing carbon offsets. These are contributions to projects that reduce greenhouse gases, such as reforestation or renewable energy initiatives. Many organizations offer carbon offset programs that can be tailored to the size and scope of your wedding.
10. Hire Eco-Conscious Vendors
Assist suppliers who are as dedicated to sustainability as you are. Pune has all aspects of environmentally conscious wedding suppliers and vendors from florists that source local and organic flowers to photographer who use energy-efficient equipment. You can make sure that every element of your wedding is in line with your environmentally conscious beliefs by selecting suppliers who put the environment first.
An eco-friendly wedding in Pune is more than just a trend; it’s a meaningful way to celebrate your love while honoring the planet. By making mindful choices in every aspect of your wedding planning, you can create a beautiful, sustainable celebration that reflects your commitment to each other and to the environment. Start your journey towards a green wedding today, and leave a lasting legacy of love and sustainability.

Green Thumb Revolution: How Grow Bags Are Transforming Urban Gardening
Urban gardening has become increasingly popular as people living in cities seek ways to grow their own food and bring nature into their environments. However, traditional gardening methods can be challenging in urban settings due to limited space, soil contamination, and a lack of natural ground. This is where grow bags come in. These versatile, portable, and eco-friendly containers are revolutionizing urban gardening, allowing city dwellers to cultivate a variety of plants in even the smallest spaces. This article explores how grow bags are transforming urban gardening, their benefits, and practical tips for using them effectively.
Tumblr media
The Rise of Urban Gardening
Urban gardening is more than just a trend; it's a response to several modern challenges. City dwellers face limited access to fresh produce, concerns about food security, and a desire to reconnect with nature. Grow bags offer a practical solution to these issues, providing a way to garden in small spaces such as balconies, rooftops, and patios. Their flexibility and ease of use make them an ideal choice for urban gardeners of all skill levels.
What Are Grow Bags?
Grow bags are fabric containers used for growing plants. Unlike traditional pots, grow bags are made from breathable, durable materials like felt or non-woven fabric. They come in various sizes and shapes, making them suitable for growing a wide range of plants, from herbs and flowers to vegetables and small trees.
Benefits of Grow Bags
1. Improved Root Health
One of the main advantages of grow bags is their ability to promote healthy root systems. The breathable fabric grow bags for trees allows for better air circulation, preventing the roots from becoming waterlogged. This air pruning process encourages the roots to branch out and become more fibrous, leading to healthier and more robust plants.
2. Temperature Regulation
Grow bags help regulate the temperature of the soil, keeping it cooler in hot weather and warmer in cold weather. The breathable material allows excess heat to escape, preventing the roots from overheating, which is a common problem with traditional plastic pots.
3. Portability and Flexibility
Grow bags are lightweight and easy to move, allowing urban gardeners to optimize their growing conditions. You can reposition the bags to capture more sunlight, protect them from harsh weather, or rearrange your garden layout as needed. This flexibility is especially useful for renters who may need to relocate their garden.
4. Space Efficiency
Urban environments often have limited space for gardening for that reason made large grow bags for trees. Grow bags can be placed on balconies, rooftops, and even vertical structures, maximizing the available area. Their flexible shape means they can fit into odd corners and small spaces where traditional pots might not fit.
5. Reduced Soil Contamination
In urban areas, soil contamination can be a significant issue. Grow bags provide a clean, controlled environment for plants, reducing the risk of exposure to pollutants. This is particularly important for growing edible plants, ensuring that the produce is safe to consume.
6. Eco-Friendly
Many grow bags are made from recycled materials and are themselves recyclable. Their long lifespan and reusability make them a sustainable choice for environmentally conscious gardeners. Additionally, grow bags can help reduce the need for plastic pots, contributing to less plastic waste.
How Grow Bags Are Transforming Urban Gardening
1. Accessibility for All
Grow bags are democratizing gardening by making it accessible to people who might not have access to traditional garden spaces. They are affordable and available in various sizes like 12 inch grow bags and 24 inch grow bags, making it easy for anyone to start a garden, regardless of their living situation. This inclusivity is empowering more people to engage in gardening, promoting healthier lifestyles and greater self-sufficiency.
2. Innovative Urban Spaces
Cities around the world are witnessing a transformation of their urban spaces. Rooftops, balconies, and even walls are being converted into lush green areas with the help of grow bags. These innovative gardening solutions are not only beautifying urban landscapes but also improving air quality and reducing urban heat islands.
3. Community Gardens
Grow bags are also playing a significant role in the development of community gardens. These shared spaces allow people to come together, learn from one another, and grow their own food collectively. Grow bags' portability and ease of use make them ideal for these communal gardening projects, fostering a sense of community and cooperation.
4. Educational Opportunities
Schools and educational institutions are incorporating grow bags into their curricula to teach students about plant biology, sustainability, and the importance of local food production. These hands-on learning experiences are inspiring a new generation of environmentally conscious individuals.
Practical Tips for Using Grow Bags
1. Choosing the Right Size
Select grow bags that are appropriate for the plants you wish to grow. Smaller bags (1-3 gallons) are suitable for herbs and small vegetables, while larger bags (5-20 gallons) can accommodate bigger plants like tomatoes, peppers, and small trees.
2. Quality Soil Mix
Use a high-quality potting mix that provides good drainage and retains moisture. A mix of compost, peat moss, and perlite or vermiculite works well. Avoid using garden soil, as it may compact and reduce aeration.
3. Proper Watering
Grow bags tend to dry out faster than traditional pots, so regular watering is essential. Check the moisture level frequently and water thoroughly when needed. Using a drip irrigation system or self-watering inserts can help maintain consistent moisture levels.
4. Fertilization
Plants in grow bags need regular feeding, as nutrients can leach out with frequent watering. Use a balanced, slow-release fertilizer or organic compost to ensure your plants receive the necessary nutrients throughout their growing cycle.
5. Placement and Sunlight
Position your grow bags in a location that receives adequate sunlight for the plants you are growing. Most vegetables and herbs require at least 6-8 hours of direct sunlight daily. You can move the bags as needed to optimize light exposure.
6. Seasonal Considerations
Grow bags can be used year-round with proper care. In colder months, you can move them indoors or to a sheltered location to protect plants from frost. During hot summer months, consider providing shade to prevent overheating.
Case Studies and Success Stories
1. Rooftop Gardens in New York City
In New York City, grow bags are transforming unused rooftop spaces into productive gardens. These gardens provide fresh produce to local communities, reduce urban heat, and offer green spaces for residents to enjoy.
2. Community Garden in Los Angeles
A community garden in Los Angeles uses grow bags to maximize space and grow a variety of fruits, vegetables, and herbs. The garden has become a hub for community members to gather, share knowledge, and promote sustainable living.
3. School Garden in Chicago
A school in Chicago implemented a gardening program using grow bags to teach students about agriculture and sustainability. The hands-on experience has sparked students' interest in science and environmental stewardship.
Conclusion
Grow bags are revolutionizing urban gardening by providing a practical, flexible, and eco-friendly solution for growing plants in city environments. Their benefits, including improved root health, temperature regulation, and space efficiency, make them an ideal choice for urban gardeners. As more people discover the advantages of grow bags, urban spaces are being transformed into green, productive areas that promote health, sustainability, and community engagement. Whether you're a seasoned gardener or a beginner, grow bags offer an accessible way to bring the joys of gardening into your urban life

Task 1 - Conceptual Samples
1) Concept - Palace
A) Schloss Schönbrunn
Tumblr media
The Schloss Schönbrunn is one of the most popular attractions of Vienna and is seen as one of the most important and most visited cultural assets of Austria. But the fascination with this palace and thus also the fascination with Empress Sissi, her husband Franz and the Habsburg dynasty is not questioned much in Austria. This can even be interpreted as a glorification and idealization of the time. Though this is a complex topic, this era was also shaped by elitist and authoritarian structures. Therefore it is worth thinking about the representation of history and our critical approach towards it. The Schloss Schöbrunn could even be the artifact for our critical look at the dynasty.
B) Joana Vasconcelos at Versailles
Tumblr media
Joana Vasconcelos is a Portuguese artist that held an exhibition in 2012 in the Versaille palace. There were multiple exhibits each trying to portray modern aspects of luxury, such as a helicopter decorated with ostrich feathers, swarovski crystals and gold leaf. Shown above is the art piece "marilyn", which is made of stainless steel pots and pans. References can be made to Marie-Antoinette and her achievements as well as to the Dutch war through the choice of the steel. Interestingly, the most reflective piece of her exhibition is placed in the "hall of mirrors", where the important events in the french history were hosted. This is an interesting example, where one of the most important palaces is being used as a space for contemporary art, which evokes conversations about the female role within royalty, about the significance of such buildings and about past and modern elitism. https://www.vasconcelosversailles.com/
C) Dismaland - Banksy
Tumblr media
Dismaland is a parody by Banksy about the amousement park Disneyland. The exhibition was an actual amusement park which was opened in 2015 in England for about a month. While this installation is a rather distant connection to castles or palaces, it uses the symbol of the most well known amusement park - the castle of Disneyland - to create the direct connection. Through this connection the installation offers space for artworks and topics that Banksy deems more relevant, such as hostile design, banks or the treatment of refugees. https://dismaland.co.uk/
Tumblr media
2) Concept - Design for Disassembly
A) Circle House in Lijsberg, Denmark
Tumblr media
The term design for disassembly originated in the field of architecture where it is the goal to avoid demolition through disassembly to recycle and reuse resources. Circle House was designed with the concepts design for disassembly and circular economy in mind. Over 90% of the house materials are supposed to be reusable, there are instructions about the disassembly in place, it is a modular build to enable extentions. Some materials even include RFID chips to view a material passport. This is a very classical example of design for assembly. https://www.buildingsocialecology.org/projects/circle-house-lisbjerg/
B) Disassembly Line - Wiena Li
Tumblr media
This is an interactive art exhibition, where users are invited to disassemble and deconstruct reclaimed electronic waste. Parts of the waste are then reused into art objects. In the center there are documentations about the end-of-life of electronic devices and a round conveyer belt. While the participants disassemble the electronics in search for valuable parts they ressemble the workers in the factories as well as the underprivileged people that normally deal with this hazardous type of waste. This sparks a conversation about design for disassembly as this is often not the case with electronics. https://www.wienalin.com/disassembly-nyc/
C) Wooden Peg - Studio Gorm
Tumblr media
Wooden peg is a furniture system from the Studio Gorm. Here legs and tops are interchangeable to create different-sized furniture pieces as needed. They can then also be stored on the wall if not needed. This is an example of design for disassembly in a more literal form. Here the focus is less on the purpose of the parts after usage but rather to use disassembly to enable reuse and prevent the furniture to get obsolete. https://studiogorm.com/peg
3) Concept - Nutrition
A) Sugar Sphinx - Kara Walker
Tumblr media
This art installation by the artist Kara Walker is entirely made out of white bleached sugar. Through the use of sugar and installing this large-scale artifact inside a sugar-factory, it references the sugar cane slavery with the words "an Homage to the unpaid and overworked Artisans who have refined our Sweet tastes from the cane fields to the Kitchens [...]". https://www.ilr.cornell.edu/buffalo-co-lab/subtlety-the-sugar-sphinx
B) Supersized Crotchet Food - Sabina Schleich
Tumblr media
This is one example of the artifacts that Sabina Schleich is crocheting. Through the creation of different oversized food items, her goal is to raise awareness about the fast food consumption and food waste in the modern world. https://www.designboom.com/art/supersized-crotchet-food-sabina-speich-food-waste-05-23-2022/
C) Food for thought: "Foodprints" exhibition - Vienna Museum of Science and Technology
Tumblr media
Food is a physiological non-negotiable for every human and living creature, as well as a strong enactment of culture with its striking diversity. At the same time, it is also a central aspect to our overall health and wellbeing. As the well-known saying "We are what we eat" suggests, it is important to raise our awareness regarding a variety of aspects around food production and consumption.
The interactive exhibition "Foodprints - Kann man das essen?" within the Vienna Museum of Science and Technology attempts to offer its visitors, from young to old, enriching insights around nutrition and food, ranging from the functioning of current supply chains in the food industry, to topics like satiety and enjoyment. Very importantly, the exhibition's focus is also placed on the sustainable aspect of food production and consumption, providing knowledge about the price at which our food is palatable - famine in numerous developing countries and an increasingly polluted planet. https://www.technischesmuseum.at/exhibition/foodprints_1
