I don’t understand why kwangya was not a mixture of SM’s existing lore and concepts like: exoplanet (kill cop burn car wear crop top lie, the Gotham city of SM), revefestival (that cult coven horror witch shit I cannot get enough of), neocity (specifically whatever weird shit was going on in Simon says), shinee (their Twilight Zone/twin peaks serve) . … like that weird stuff. Instead of the futuristic , superhero? marvel cinematic inspired-SMCU thing. I mean obviously I KNOW weird loona-esque lore stuff is not as appealing (even tho it is TO ME😭) as superhero, fighting, hacking, etc. stuff but……. pre-aespa sm artists had existing lores before they created kwangya with Aespa, not only is it much more interesting, but it just got abandoned 😭😭 … I mean I guess its harder to combine and make a storyline out of whatever they got going on before idk lmfao
kwangya is actually pretty cool but exoplanet will always be the og

So what the heck is up with revefestival: a theory
I was watching Umpah Umpah and I was noticing some weird elements that sorta corresponded with our current cult theory, but slightly off. So I decided to look more into it and I’ve crafted a short theory about what the heck this 3 day revefestival thing is about
Plot:
Starts with Irene driving car, Wendy in shotgun through FAKE town
they are still stuck in Irene’s fantasy world
When they get to the house it begins to rain, Wendy is the one who looks out the window and closes the door
begins to cry/scream - realizing that there is a world outside
When the house begins to drip, Irene is the first one up, visibly distressed
the house is the cult, and she’s realizing it’s falling apart
Joy looks out window
she’s been questioning the cult, but she isn’t visibly upset - still under Irene’s influence/manipulation
Yeri walks around while the rest of the members play Monopoly UNDER the table
Monopoly - a game about chance, NOT strategy (like chess), no defined roles,
Wendy sees the beach- her own paradise
But she rolls an 8 (NOT SURE ABR THIS), and yeri interferes, so she can’t reach it
Yeri also sees Wendy’s private beach, Inviting her ?
The fact that they are under the table implies subversion - if the cult is the table, then there’s someone trying to get around it
While they’re all playing the board game, Irene is still playing with the legos - she’s still in control
All members sit watching the weather, weathergirl joy announces it is raining
joy and Wendy are visibly happy about this? While Seulgi, Irene, and yeri are not
Wendy and Joy are realizing and are happy about the cult starting to fall apart
Suddenly, the tv starts to fizzle out and glitch. Wendy begins to bang on it to try and fix it
Irene is unfazed - she’s the one causing it to glitch, regaining control over joy
Wendy is trying to get Joy, her only ally, back
They play Rock Paper Scissors to see who has to go out and fix the tv, Seulgi loses
There’s only one storm cloud in the sky
Wendy is the only one bringing it down
Irene watches a fishtank with a red fish
red fish mimicks seulgi’s red hat - she is watching Seulgi, making sure she doesn’t betray her
Suddenly, the wall opens and Irene sees another Irene on a swing
This is the opposite of zimzalabim, where Irene is the only one without a “dream” scene - Irene is being manipulated/under the influence of someone now - Wendy?
Irene is giving instructions to Seulgi on how to fix the tv
Seulgi is alternating between her “dream” scene and her on the roof - she is being pulled between Irene’s cult and Wendy’s new cult
Finally, it cuts to 3 of the members on a beach in makeup we haven’t seen before
yeri, Irene and joy are the new members of Wendy’s cult
Where Seulgi stands is still unknown
Wendy opens the door, with the members in the outfits they were wearing at the beginning - the “new cult” outfits
it isn’t raining anymore, however, Wendy closes the door again - she is locking in her new members
Other aspects:
Wendy’s hair
when Wendy is in the house scenes, she has slight blonde tips. However, in the dance scenes she has half blonde, half black hair
He two toned hair represents her duplicitous nature, black being Irene’s influence, and blonde being her own
At the end, when she opens the door, her blonde tips seem to be gone, meaning that she’s fully become her own cult leader now
Zimzalabim
although zimzalabim tells the story of irenes’s manipulation, we see hints of Wendy’s subversion
At the beginning, Wendy is the ticket seller. Why? Because the revefestival is the cult itself, and Wendy is inviting us to the story of the cult
At the end, we see all the members with glasses on except for Irene. Obviously, Irene is the cult leader. However, Wendy and Seulgi are also looking at the camera, indicating that they both play important roles in the revefestival story. Wendy has already played her role in day 2
Day 3 predictions:
day 3 will be about Seulgi’s reaction to Wendy’s subversion
Either Seulgi will reinstate Irene’s rule as the protector of the cult, and it will show her doing that
join Wendy, and show how Wendy gets her to join
Or run away alltogether, and it will show Wendy chasing her and her life outside the cult
