how effective would a dragon as big as vhagar be in war realistically? she’s not nimble or fast. she can’t sneak attack (unless the writers and grrm go against logic like they have)

Meyles seems the perfect size for a war dragon and seemingly the only reason she lost was because Sunfyre damaged her eye.

the real joy of s2 ep4 of hotd is the personalities imbued in all the dragons. The look Meleys gives Rhaenys just before they die, the feeling that both of them are seasoned warriors like brothers in arms. The way Sunfyre appears to play push Aegon (as if they are friends more than anything) and wraps himself around Aegon’s mangled body as if to protect him while Sunfyre himself lays dying. The way Aemond tells Vhagar to chill the fuck out and she just flops back onto the floor like she couldn’t give a shit what they do! All the dragons had personality. It was both lovely and heartbreaking all at once. it makes the downfall of the Targaryen house all the more devastating and bittersweet to know these relationships between ride and dragon are being lost to history and time.

Sunfyre moved his wing to shield Aegon from Vhagar's fire.

He landed on his wounded belly, which means even though he fell out of the sky backwards, he angled his body to avoid crushing Aegon and take the full brunt of the fall.

Eventually, when Aemond found him, he curled up around his rider.

Do you think Rhaenys (Aemon's daughter) would have made a good Queen? Or, at least, provided and ensure a smooth succession?

I think she would have made a brilliant Queen and that’s exactly why the maesters didn’t want her to rule. She wasn’t indecisive like Viserys nor did she completely uproot the system. She had two healthy children, her husband’s family was the richest in Westeros, moreover Viserys only had Rhaenyra while Daemon had no children so she didn’t have an extended family to be wary of either.
