The Wolf And The Ram (Rhystrid)

Part 1 of Gods In Sheeps’ Clothing (Part 2 here!)

Did I start another art series that’s completely out of my comfort zone? Yes, yes I did. Is it also focused on some of ADSOM’s most iconic possession scenes and a bunch of sheep/pastoral symbolism? Yes, that too. So here’s Astrid, a wolf in sheep’s clothing, just like she was when she possessed Red London’s crown prince. I tried to give this a tapestry/illuminated manuscript look, but I’m not sure I was entirely successful in that; while the sketch itself came to me easily, the execution of this idea was really difficult and took a lot of reworking. That being said, I still like this piece though! It was my first time seriously drawing a ram (which is supposed to symbolize the people of the palace that also fell under Astrid’s spell) and I honestly think it came out better than Astrid herself did. I love this design for her though, I may incorporate some of its elements into her usual look. Other notable symbolic elements/inspirations include the Golden Fleece and masquerades. 

Next up in this series is everyone’s favorite Someday King and his less-than-friendly oshoc buddy! Enjoy!
