Make your own proseka OCs. Make your own proseka unit. By god, make it. If you have an idea, go with it. Proseka lore allows for boundless opportunities. They don't even have to be musicians to have a Sekai. They don't even necessarily have to be in Japan. Project Sekai as a game is a love song to art and artists. You are one. Go nuts.
Hi-Fi Rush really said "let's make a rhythm game that's made with such love and passion for music, has good characterization and growth, the humor and character designs are fun, the enemy battles are creative, the main villain is defeated through the power of friendship, and it contains tons of bonus content with no microtransactions, all for half the cost of an AAA game" and it fucking slapped
me: oh whats going on with rayark (dev. of cytus/sdorica/deemo/voez etc.)
twitter: most if not all of their new artworks are AI generated (MtL'd but native speakers have corroborated that the key idea is in-tact here). [see addendum below].
here's a former art director of cytus 2:

other [musical] artists who have worked on the game (such as kurokotei) have denounced the game and the company's attitude about AI art.
there's been pretty substantive backlash from each of the communities and the rhythm game community in general is not super enthusiastic about AI art. word has spread across their fanbases to universal disdain - there's a general agreement that this company should be buried within our memories because yeah, it's easy to say that "if it looks good why do you care where it came from", but that's just it - it lacks the technical polish and art direction that makes those games memorable but it's impossible to understand that argument if you're only interested in engaging with ai art discourse as a means of arguing about aesthetics or "real art" as opposed to the practical consequences of something a very loyal fanbase cherishes that has actually been tarnished by this new direction. art direction in particular is a huge part of the appeal of this company's works, and a lack of consistent aesthetic and artworks really does bring the roof down. whether you like things like vocaloid or rhythm games, you probably understand that the accompanying art for a song is a lot more than just a picture - the visuals are tied deeply to the impact and legacy of a song. the ui in those games is so barebones but the art carries them heavily.

this really stinks.
Addendum:
A popular claim on twitter is that a lot of their artists were fired (one I did not make, given that there was no tangible proof of this). Rayark has issued their own statement clarifying that they have not fired their art team but doubled down on their commitment to AI art in a move to "adapt to the times" (a claim which is questionable given that industry leaders in the Mobage space don't really use AI-content for international titles but it might be more applicable to other regions).
While this assuages some fears (namely the shift to 100% AI Art, a fear which was largely a reaction to the yahoo article), the lack of transparency around the art direction (given that Sdorica and Cytus II have both been using AI Art to promote for a while now) is still something the broader fanbase is worried about. The reception from KR & EN audiences has been largely negative, JP is mixed but less intense. This still begs the question of whether AI-generated content will mean less collaboration with artists in the in-game content.
People have speculated that the press statement is written by ChatGPT, but text AI-gen detection is far less sophisticated than reading Stable Diffusion outputs (which has come a long way in terms of certainty).
Last but not least, we’ve got Lucia and the janitor! With that that should be every character in RD! It was fun drawing all these lads, especially since I haven’t really drawn many of these guys much yet. I hope you enjoyed all these though! Now I’ll get back to posting shitposts and some properly rendered stuff I’ve stockpiled over the week I’ve been posting these
Official BEMANI Sound Team remixes of MEGALOVANIA, Bonetrousle, and Last Goodbye are playable in the Japanese arcade rhythm game GITADORA HIGH-VOLTAGE (GuitarFreaks and DrumMania).
These remixes were made exclusively for GITADORA. Players can play the lead guitar, bass guitar, or drums for each track.
I was lucky enough to play these in a Round1 arcade in the United States! (I failed even on the easiest mode.)
derangement aside I do recommend getting into bms, even if you don't end up playing any of the charts. the amount of insanely creative songs and music videos that get released every year For Free just for this community game is amazing and the fact that some get picked up and licensed for commercial games and artists who started out making work for bms get commissioned for them as well is just. idk
What the heck
They did it, they made peak
THIS WAS ANNOUNCED A FUCKING MONTH AGO AND YET I SOMEHOW DIDN'T HEAR ABOUT IT UNTIL LAST NIGHT I HATE HOW NONEXISTENT THE MARKETING FOR THIS SERIES IS
I am like actually frothing at the mouth at this announcement, absolutely feral.
This series has by far one of my favorite soundtracks in any video game and the fact that they didn't make a rhythm game out of it 8 years ago is criminal and the creators deserve to be locked up in solitary confinement for the rest of their lives for not making it sooner. But they also deserve to be let out and also given 1 billion money coins and a free pass to be allowed to commit any crimes ever for finally making it now!
I refuse to look at the actual song list because I know that I'll be disappointed because there's no way they included even close to all like 80 vocal songs throughout the entire series, but like if they don't have A Zip to the Moon I'll cry, really. A Zip to the Moon is the only thing that could truly make me believe in a god.
youtube
It'd also be cool if they added the Lola versions of every Azure Striker Gunvolt 2 song but they won't because the god of A Zip to the Moon hates me :(
youtube
If there is a SINGLE Luminous Avenger iX song my face will go from :) to :( INSTANTLY, and then it'll go back to :) when I see A Zip to the Moon because it'll be there, surely! They took away her robot voice she sounds like shit bring back bootleg Hatsune Miku!
I'm sure it's gonna have like, all of the Gunvolt 3 songs because it's the newest one, so very excited to hear 90% of that game's soundtrack for the first time, not in the game that they originated from because I still have not played 3 beyond the demo despite it releasing over a year ago. But like the two songs from it that I have heard are really good so I'm sure the rest is too, Ergo Sum and Glass Paradise are both pretty cool.
youtube
Whoever made the decision to release Azure Striker Gunvolt 3 on the same day as both Xenoblade Chronicles 3 and Digimon Survive is a psychopath and my worst enemy.
For funsies they should also add like 1 Mega Man Zero song just as like a little reference to their past works, y'know some games do that they could do that there wouldn't be any rights issues or anything please I just want Innocence from Mega Man ZX to exist again it's like the A Zip to the Moon of Mega Man Zero it's so good please Mr. Inti Creates I'll stop calling you a psychopath I promise.
youtube
I can't wait for this game to just be a shitty Persona 3/5 Dancing tier cash-grab rhythm game with only like 10 of the worst songs from the entire series that costs $50 and kills the series because it didn't sell well enough.
Removing the mechanic from the final boss of 2 where you had to sing into the 3DS microphone (or just blow into the mic) in the Steam version was the worst thing that happened since capitalism. Like yea they couldn't really realistically implemented it without like, requiring you to have a mic hooked up for literally one 30 second portion of the final boss but like, I'm still mad >:C
The bad part about going back to achievement hunt is that it means that I have to do ALL THE BULLSHIT ASS ACHIEVEMENTS THAT PISSED ME OFF THE FIRST TIME
