Prompt used : No.83 Stuck/Caught in the rain note: I have to thank @a-small-writer-in-a-big-world her roommate series simon will always be my inspo for any neighbour/roommate related ideas. *taking deep bow*
Part of the Memory in a Fragrance series Master list
Tumblr media
Holding one bag of grocery in one hand, and a bag of rice in another arm, sighing as the sky opened up, regretting not listening to yourself earlier on.
Should have brought my brolly, or should have driven here instead of walking. Thinking to yourself. So much for wanting to get some exercise and steps into my daily routine.
Oh well, What else can you do but wait?
“You gotta be kidding me.”
Suddenly a large shadow with a deep rumbling voice loomed over you, cursing away.
Looking up, stands Simon, your large yet mysterious neighbour, with a small bag of grocery, seemingly in the same predicament.
“You too?”
Awkward silence. He slowly turns his head down towards you. You can almost sense his discomfort from the tense body language and the way he is staring down at you.
“There’s extra storage space on the ground floor. Rubbish collection day is every Monday, remember to take it out. Oh good morning Simon.” your landlord greeted a tall masked man, with a big camo bag who was about to head out the door. He nodded his head towards the two of you, before turning away abruptly.
That was your first meeting with Simon.
After that, he only appears every few weeks, always carrying his Camo bag. Sometimes in his uniform, sometimes already changed into Civilian uniform.  The two of you never spoke a word to each other, nor acknowledged each other.
“Um. I am your neighbour two doors down?” You shifted uncomfortably, thinking he doesn’t remember you.
“I know.”
Another awkwards silence.
“I don’t think the rain is going to stop for a while.”
“…….”
Pointing to the cafe next door to the grocery store,“Would you, would you like to um, have a cup of coffee while we wait?” WE? You don’t know why you offered.
“Tea.”
“Pardon?”
“I drink tea.”  He repeated.
“Oh.” Well, you assume that is a yes. “Let’s.. Let’s go?”
Tumblr media
You look out the window, at the rain that is currently bucketing down heavily, showing no signs of stopping. The drumming sound drowning out the chatting voices of the cafe patrons.
“Not to your taste?”
Simon’s voice snapped you out of the reverie.
“Sorry?” you blinked, confused at his question.
He pointed at your coffee. “Not to your taste? Should I get another one for you?”
He has insisted on getting the drinks.
“I am very particular with tea.” He insisted as he gently set the groceries down beside the table. He raised a hand to stop you before you speak. “A cup of coffee isn’t going to break my bank. What would you like?”
You shook your head and quickly took a sip. “Oh nono, I was zoning out…looking at the rain. Listening to the sound. It’s very… calming.”
He looked out the window, humming. Back to the silence between the two of you.
You took another sip of your coffee, and stole a glance at the brooding man in front of you.
This is probably the first time you have seen him without any face covering on.
Not a face of a model, but a pleasing looking face. Long eye lashes, framing those deep brown eyes,  full of sorrow, weariness and… loneliness?
“What if the rain doesn’t stop?” You break the silence again after a while.
“Then we wait a bit longer.”
“Until the cafe closes?” You chuckled.
“Then I’ll walk back to get the car and pick you and the grocery up.”
You cocked your eyebrow. Although the two of you are neighbours, technically the two of you don't know each other before this. He could have just left you there to your own demise..
“But I don’t think I need to do that. Seems like the rain started to die down. Come on.” Simon drained the last of his tea, donning his mask back on and stood up and picked up his bag of grocery and your bag of rice.
“OH, I can..”
Before you finish your sentence, he hauls it over his shoulder like a bag of feathers and stares at you. Somehow you know it’s pointless to argue with him so you just pick up your bag of groceries and follow him out of the cafe.
Two of you walked home in silence.
You couldn’t resist taking a peek at his strong muscles… you mean him. With the first glance he sends people scrambling with his deathly stare. But from his actions today.. You know he’s a man of action.  From the little things he does. Insisting on paying for the coffee. Carrying the heavy bag of rice.
Oh he smells so nice. You also couldn’t help but take a deep breath in as he gently nudged you to the inner side of the walking path and shielded you from all the puddle splashes when the car drove past.
Smell of fresh pine. Citrus. Freshly cut grass.
Just like after the rain. Your favourite smell since childhood.
It gives you comfort. And joy. Memories of going for a walk and running around on the field with your family and falling over onto the grass, big patches of mud on your butt while your siblings laugh at you, and your mother shook her head.
“You got the front gate key?” He grumbled, adjusting the bag of rice on his shoulder.
“Ah? Oh. yes. Sorry..” you quickly dug through your bag for the keys and opened it up to let the two of you into the building.
“Well, Ah, Thank you for your help today.” You said as he put the bags down in front of your door. “ Would you like to come in for a cup of tea… OH.” What the hell are you saying, the two of you just sat in the cafe for more than an hour drinking afternoon tea.
He chuckled. Oh, he sounds nice when he laughs.  “I think we have enough tea and coffee for the afternoon.”
You nodded your head, embarrassed and somehow disappointed at the rejection. You opened the door and half kicked your groceries in.
“But maybe next time.” you snapped your head around, he was already walking towards his own door. “If you need people to go grocery with you. I will be happy to if I am home.”
You blinked your eyes, is..that his way of asking you to go on a .. date but not a date? Or is he just being friendly??
You stood there for a long time mouth gaping, long after he returned to his apartment.
Tumblr media
Simon look down at the little container of home baked biscuits left on his front door step the next morning, and smiled.
“Just a little thank you for the impromptu afternoon tea and carrying my groceries yesterday. This is my number just in case you want to ask me to go again…”

Loves Myanmar snacks like mont lone yay baw (sticky rice balls with coconut).
“Wait, you have ghost stories scarier than STYX?!”

“Ah, my dear prefect, your generosity and hospitality are truly commendable! Now, about those festival decorations you mentioned…”
Tries to get Yuu to organize an entire Thingyan (Burmese New Year) festival for the school.

“At least you have some discipline, given all the respect you show your elders.”
Lowkey impressed by how well they maintain traditional clothing like longyi.

Sam:
“Ohh, I bet I can sell some Burmese tea leaf salad here!”
Immediately adds traditional snacks to his shop.
Heartslabyul
Riddle:
“Your respect for traditions is admirable! But also, why do your festivals seem so chaotic?!”
Tries to enforce his rules, but Myanmar!Yuu is used to navigating strict traditions while finding loopholes.
Ace:
“Wait, you eat tea? Like, actual tea leaves?”
Thinks lahpet thoke (fermented tea leaf salad) is wild but ends up loving it.
Deuce:
“Wait, you wash people with buckets of water for New Year?! I would’ve been grounded for life if I tried that!”

Cater:
“OMG, your outfits are so photogenic! Let’s do a longyi-wearing challenge!”
Savanaclaw
Leona:
“You know, I respect a culture that lets people nap during the hottest hours.”
Lowkey appreciates their chill attitude toward respect.
Ruggie:
“Wait, you have a snack that’s just deep-fried chickpeas? That sounds amazing.”
Loves that Myanmar!Yuu knows how to barter.
Jack:
“Your stories about guardian spirits protecting villages are really cool.”
Secretly enjoys their folklore about nats (spirits).
Octavinelle
Azul:
“You come from a land where trade and hospitality are everything? Interesting… very interesting.”
Tries to recruit them for business ventures.
Jade:
“You have mountains and deep forests filled with mysterious beings? How fascinating.”
Wants to go on an expedition with them.
Floyd:
“You mean you celebrate by DUMPING WATER ON PEOPLE?! Best holiday ever!”
Tries to start an impromptu Thingyan water fight in Mostro Lounge.
Scarabia
Kalim:
“Your New Year sounds so fun! Can we celebrate it together?!”
Absolutely would join in water fights and temple visits.
Jamil:
“I have never met someone who moves between strict tradition and chaos so effortlessly.”
Skeptical but begrudgingly impressed.
Pomefiore
Vil:
“You wear traditional outfits regularly and still look this elegant? Hmm… acceptable.”
Finds Myanmar fashion very aesthetically pleasing.
Rook:
“Ah! The beauty of Myanmar! The golden pagodas, the lush landscapes, the mystical nats!”

“You offer food to spirits and ancestors as part of tradition? I find that… quite admirable.”
Feels an odd kinship with them because of their belief in spirits.
Lilia:
“Your country has a history that spans millennia? Oh-ho, I must hear all about it.”
Gets super excited about Myanmar’s ancient kingdoms.
Silver:
“Your lullabies sound… oddly familiar. Peaceful.”
Falls asleep when they sing traditional Burmese lullabies.
Sebek:
“Respecting elders is essential! You truly understand proper discipline!”
For once, he approves.
RSA & Noble Bell
Neige:
“Your traditions are so warm and welcoming! Can we celebrate one together?”
Chenya:
“So you’re polite but also know how to mess with people? I like you.”
Rollo:
“Your traditions are deeply tied to respect and devotion… acceptable.”
Might actually tolerate them.
Myanmar!Yuu Chaos
“You don’t eat tea? You’re missing out.”
“It’s not a real festival unless someone gets hit with a bucket of water.”
“Oh, you have ghost stories? Let me tell you about nats.”
“You respect elders but also prank your friends? That’s just balance.”
Yuu's Welcoming
Mexican!Yuu: “Wait, you got hella folklore too? And you tell fortunes with astrology? That’s so sick!” Brazilian!Yuu: “You seem really chill… but I bet you’ve got a wild side. Everyone does.” Aussie!Yuu: “You seem way too peaceful for this group. How long do you think that’ll last?” Sicilian!Yuu: “You give off wise elder energy. I feel like you know all the secrets of the world.” Romanian!Yuu: “You believe in spirits too? We’re going to have some interesting conversations.” Jamaican!Yuu: “I respect your vibe. You move at your own pace, and that’s cool.” Southern!Yuu: “Y’all are all about respect and community? I like that. That’s real Southern of ya.” Florida Man!Yuu: “You seem peaceful, but I bet if you got mad, you’d be scary.” Czech!Yuu: “You believe in karma and spirits? Yeah, I like you already.”
How Myanmar!Yuu Fits In:
Gets along well with Romanian!Yuu and Czech!Yuu, since they all believe in spirits, superstitions, and karma. They probably sit around at night, sharing folklore and ghost stories.
Instantly impresses Sicilian!Yuu with their knowledge of history and strong family ties.
Earns Mexican!Yuu’s respect for their deep cultural pride and love for storytelling. They probably exchange folktales from their homelands.
Becomes close with Jamaican!Yuu, both valuing relaxation, spirituality, and a deep connection to their roots.
Confuses Florida Man!Yuu at first, but once Florida Man!Yuu realizes Myanmar!Yuu is peaceful but can still throw hands if necessary, they become weirdly good friends.
Aussie!Yuu is determined to get Myanmar!Yuu to do something reckless. Myanmar!Yuu is calm but might have a mischievous streak hidden under all that wisdom.
Final Verdict:
Becomes the wise but chaotic older sibling of the group. They seem peaceful, but they have stories and will roast you with eerie accuracy.
Everyone loves their food. Once Myanmar!Yuu starts making traditional dishes, the entire group is obsessed.
Southern!Yuu and Myanmar!Yuu bond over hospitality. Both come from cultures that emphasize politeness, family, and traditions.
Romanian!Yuu and Myanmar!Yuu are the folklore duo. They have endless ghost stories and love discussing supernatural beliefs.

going on vacation with queen maeve would include
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Masterlist | Rules | Taglist | Library | More Royalty AU | AO3
synopsis: A few months after getting into The Seven, your mind and body were on the edge. Good for your that your girlfriend™ knows exactly how to make Madelyn shut the fuck up.
warnings: vought. female!reader. this is fluffy!
Tumblr media
• It's funny how you thought for so long that Maeve didn't give a damn about you. Because now, seeing clearly what she is doing, you notice how much she really cares. How deeply Maggie cares about you.
• Your relationship now being real don't make everything easy. It makes easier, of course, but it still pretty fucked up to be used as Vought way of making pink money. But as time passes, you noticed all the little things Maeve did so it would be easier for you. The fact that she does that in secret is what really makes your heart skip a beat.
• Like when you discovered that Maeve fought with Madelyn so your birthday would be a private event. Or when your copyright percentage got higher because of her. And there was that day Maeve discussed for over a hour with the marketing guys so you could cut your hair however you wanted. And the time a "journalist" threatened to expose a story about your normal life so she... You still don't know what exactly she did, but the story never saw daylight.
• So when out of sudden, in the middle of the most tiring week of your entire life, Ashley informed you that your vacations was postponed to next week by the HR people; you knew it was her. Of course it was.
• You both talked to her about your plans, and Ashley took care of everything. She usually does. She made sure there was no one on the beach, no paparazzi, not even a leaf out of place. If there was one thing you valued, it was your secret identity, and since Maeve also took the same care, every precaution was necessary.
• After a car trip, Maeve doesn't get on planes under any circumstances, complete with lots of diabetic sweets and loud music, you finally arrived at the cabin. Everything inside was some kind of licensed Vought product, but ignoring that until you looked like just a normal couple. Nothing surprising. No drama, no pr stunts, no forced smiles. It was just you and Maggie, and that was all.
• Maggie spent the whole week running the bar. You've already discussed her being basically a functional alcoholic, but she's always emphasized the functional. She took care of the drinks, you took care of the barbecues, and the two of you tried to understand how to make Starlight Seasoned Rice™.
• Maggie was more the type to pick up a gothic novel, apply sunscreen until she looked like a ghost, and toast on a beach sarong. You were the one challenging the sea to a fight. And cursing the hot sand.
• Caught up in Jane Eyre's poor choice to marry someone she discovered had locked his first wife in the basement, Maggie didn't think she needed to worry. Until the salt water fell on her and her book, and Maggie saw you with your smirk and a yellow toy bucket. You wanted war? Okay.
• Playing fights with your girlfriend is one of the most common things in relationships. Playing fights with your super powerful warrior goddess hot girlfriend is much more interesting. Will Maggie one day realize how much you love being beneath her? She probably already did.
• With hydrating hair masks, tasty meat, strong drinks and practically inedible rice™, you fell asleep on the sofa in the cabin while you tried to prove to Maggie that Emile Brontë was the best sister.
• You both deserved that.

If Charlie is everyone's sunshine when she's big, then I imagine her being a very fussy and clingy baby. To her, regressing would be one of the few times she doesn't feel responsible for making sure everyone else is happy, and thus she doesn't have to FAKE being happy herself. As a baby, she can be completely honest about how terrible, awful, no good she feels occasionally. She can cry over how much she misses Vaggie when she's working on something in the hotel! She can stomp her little hooven feet every time daddy insists she needs a nap! She can even chuck her plate across the room if Vaggie insists she finishes her yucky veggies! (Okay that one is frowned upon but she is still safe to do so! Freedom of expression!).
Likewise, if a usually happy Charlie lets herself be upset in littlespace, then a super serious Vaggie can finally be silly and playful in hers.
I do see Vaggie as being autistic, so there would be a lot of unmasking she had to learn when she first started regressing. Baby Vaggie would do a lot of rocking and hand flapping when playtime starts. She just gets so excited to see Charlie or Lucifer bring out her chunky Lego sets! She has all sorts of colors and finishes for her Legos, like primary colors, pastels and jewel tones; plus shimmery, glittery, see-through, opaque. She got ALL THE LEGOS. She loves dumping them out of the massive bucket and sorting them all before she gets to building.
She also loves her movies. She's a Ghibli kid through and through. She has certain scenes that she loves playing over and over again, like when Chihiro is running down the old staircase in Spirited Away. She'll hold the remote in one hand and her favorite blankie in the other, then pace back and forth in her and Charlie's room, shaking from excitement, squealing, while rewinding the same clip every ten or so seconds. It's just...such a cool scene! The animation is so good! The voicing and sound effects are intense! She loves all the little details and can focus on one scene for an hour at a time. Charlie and Lucifer don't mind one bit, they love the happy baby!
Only 2 things can really get baby Vaggie in a sour mood: bad food and bad clothes. Vaggie has a very limited range of safe foods while in baby space, with pupusas, rice, chicken nuggets, and water being her usual fair. She makes plenty of pupusas when she's big and stores them in the freezer; that way Charlie always has something wholesome and filling to give her. But one time, Lucifer added sugar to her rice (something Charlie liked as a baby), and it did NOT go over well. Poor baby had a massive meltdown and wouldn't eat until she was big the next day.
Clothes can also be a challenge, but for the most part they have this figured out. A soft, ribbed tank top or long sleeve, super plush drawstring pajama pants, and a diaper (because the elastic on pull ups is just too tight!!!). She gets changes frequently because she hates being anything less than clean, but she's noticed Lucifer is better at closing her diaper just snug enough but not too tight.
She is completely nonverbal but is still a VERY noisy baby. All day long, Baby Vaggie is either squealing, shouting, chuffing, or cooing. Charlie made her a little communication board to help her ask for what she wants, like her favorite foods, toys, or when she just needs a cuddle.
And yeah, I do see the irony of giving them both personality switches when they're regressed...but I stand by it! Let Baby Charlie have a good cry when she needs, and see that no one's gonna be mad at her! Let Baby Vaggie relax and do everything that makes her happy, and see that she is still incredibly loved! And give Lucifer a second chance to try this whole 'dad' thing and be a proud papa of his sweet kiddos!

Part 1 | Part 2 | Part 3
Tumblr media
ship: Jack Conroy x fem!OC
warnings: n/a
summary: Jack meets a musher girl on his first day in Alaska.
word count: 2105
a/n:
Tumblr media
Mushing with Jack Conroy made the Yukon come alive. I learned that on our first day out. It was as if the cruel, gnarled landscape transformed into a land of fairies as it passed through his eyes; and slowly, slowly, I began to see it too. The rolling fields of white began to glitter as if full of diamond crumbs as he trudged across them. Stones burst up from beneath the shimmering layer and became black obelisks as he wiped away the snow, marking a witch’s way. Silent owls and scurrying lemmings turned into forest sprites under his wondrous eye. I had never known a boy to carry magic in his pocket like he did, and I felt myself consumed with a mission to protect his optimism. It became a balancing act between guarding his body or his spirit. Often, I chose the body, for what is a soul with no vessel. When I scouted out our flanks and found huge pawprints gouged into the snow and fur snagged on a scraggly gorse bush, I couldn’t bare to frighten him with tales of snapping jaws and meat-stinking spittle, so I simply berated him for falling so far behind and dragged him back to the sled. Of course, he found out soon enough and turned timid for the rest of the day.
That night, I found myself observing a fight simmering between Jack and Alex. The frontier was a cruel mistress who had made Alex short tempered and unyielding; he felt Jack’s foolhardy nature itching him like a bedbug sore, as if any scrap of optimism was an insult to the suffering he had faced. Our night began calmly enough. We tied up the dogs and gathered enough dry wood for a fire, then sat around it to eat our salt beef, beans, and dried fruit. We had rice pudding in a can too, but Alex and I agreed we ought to save it for a rainy day. After that, Skunker hung a bucket of fish over the fire to thaw for the dogs, and Jack set about brushing his teeth.
“Got that tarp a little close to the fire, don’t you?” Alex’s voice was measured, but I could sense his irritation.
“Don’t wanna freeze to death.” Jack responded cheerfully. The meal and the fire had warmed up his spirits.
Alex said nothing in response, but sat down and watched him, seemingly waiting for the thing to catch alight. I picked my teeth with my thumbnail and stayed quiet. This was a man’s game, and I had no desire to stick my nose into it.
“What’s he doin?” Skunker sat by Alex and squinted as the boy scrubbed his mouth out.
“Cleaning his teeth.” He sipped his tea, eyes still trained on the sleeping tarp.
“How’d they get dirty?”
“C’mon, Skunker, you seen me do that.” I said, trying to alleviate some of the tension. I sucked a piece of beef gristle from my teeth and pointedly pulled out my own toothbrush from my rucksack.
“Well, you’re a lady.”
“Really, I hadn’t noticed.” I filled my cup with snow and nestled it in the embers at the edge of the fire to melt. “And cavities are the manliest of illnesses, right?”
Skunker stuck his hands up in surrender, making Jack chuckle. The sound of his laugh warmed me better than the fire. I paused for a moment to admire the orange light as it flickered on his face. He turned around and spat, and in that moment his tarp caught alight. He leapt to his feet and stamped on it to no avail, but Skunker came to rescue and dumped some fish water on it. I stifled a gag at the stink of charred wool and fish guts, sticking my toothbrush in my mouth to mask it with mint. Poor Jackie. Skunker grabbed up the few fish that fell out and said his apologies.
“Told you, too close to the fire.” Alex said, eyebrows raised in a challenge.
Jack smirked, shrugged humbly and sat down to finish his teeth. Nothing seemed to faze this boy, and I could see that Alex’s goat was well and truly gotten. His bad attitude only got worse when we all shared a laugh at Jack’s frozen-solid toothbrush.
“Nice weather.” He guffawed, showing me his beautiful, stupid smile. My face broke into a grin before I could stop it and I had to quickly turn around to spit before I drooled white foam all down the front of me.
The thing that finally set Alex off was Jack having the audacity to read a book. I caught his face darkening beneath his hat, and as he rose I felt a terrible sense of foreboding. I set my toothbrush aside and crossed my arms to watch as he strode over, grabbed Jack’s pack and started scattering the books about the snow. There were heaps of them. I couldn’t believe we had been hauling around that much dead weight.
“What are you doing?” Jack hadn’t even had the chance to get angry yet.
“Only things my dogs drag are things we need.”
Jack’s eyes widened incredulously, and it took him a full second to comprehend what was happening.
“That’s my property!”
“You want ‘em?” He dropped a book right in my lap and tossed the bag at Jack. “You carry ‘em.”
“Hold it, hold it, hold it.” Skunker emerged between them, wielding the fish pail. “I’m gonna feed the dogs, fellas. You’re not gonna kill each other while I’m gone, are ya?”
“We’ll wait ‘til you come back.” Alex grumbled.
They glared at one another for a moment, then Jack sat down and kept reading, leaving his books strewn about camp. Alex started twanging his mouth harp, seemingly just to distract the boy from his book. They were both getting on my last nerve. I took a look at the book in my lap. It was brown, clothbound and had an engraving of a cat with wings and a man’s face on the front. I got to my feet and picked up another book.
“Alex is right, y’know.” I said casually, ambling over to pick up another one. “Even if I think he’s being an asshole-” I turned around and tossed the word over my shoulder. “-about it. But you should think about losin’ some of these. They’re weighin’ us down.”
Jack stayed quiet, glaring up at me in indignation. I handed him the first book and he snatched it ferociously from my hand. A surge of anger took hold of me, but I set my teeth and swallowed it. I held the next book out for him, and when he went to grab it, I pulled it away. His eyes flared, and then settled. I stared him down for a long moment before I held it out again. His hand reached gently for it, then yanked it away when he had me unawares.
“Hey!” I snarled and chucked the last book in his face. “Pick the rest up yourself if you’re gonna act like that! Ungrateful child.”
“I’m older than you!” It seemed my last comment got to him.
“Yeah, well act like it then.”
I wrapped up my sleeping mat that laid beside his and moved it to a clear spot beside the fire. I sat with my back facing him, heart hammering with wrath. I picked at my nails, chewing at the dead skin on the side of my right thumb, wishing I had something more significant to rip to pieces. I was furious to think I had let this kid grab a hold of my heart when he was still acting like a spoiled little brat. Rich city boy. I thought. Clinging to your books and your fantasies and weighing us down when every pound counts out here!
Skunker returned soon after, muttering agitatedly under his breath, leading Digger along by his harness.
“What are you mumbling about?” Alex lolled his head to the side.
“I had seven fish for seven dogs, and Digger didn't get fed.” Skunker fretted, stroking Digger’s ivory fur. “I swear there was a wolf in with the dogs! And I fed the damn thing!”
“How would a wolf get in with the dogs?” I cast a quick glance at Jack whose eyes were wide and fearful. I felt a prick of annoyance. Surely he doesn’t believe this horseshit? How green can you get?
“He’s dreaming again.” Alex assured him.
I got to my feet and picked my way over to check Digger over myself. He seemed happy enough, if a little annoyed at the absence of food.
“Maybe you mis-counted.” I offered.
“No. No, there was definitely seven.” He shook his head emphatically.
“Poor Digger. He doesn’t seem upset, though. Surely a wolf would frighten ‘em.”
“Your bitch is half wolf, maybe they’re used to the smell.”
“Maybe. Shall we give him some canned stuff?”
“Yeah.” Skunker agreed. “Be quicker to thaw.”
I looked him over one more time, and was about to go and check on Connie when I felt a hand on my upper arm. It was Jack, holding a stick of jerky and smiling apologetically.
“For Digger.” He said softly. “To keep him going ‘til his real food.”
“Thanks.” I took the stick and avoided his eyes, still annoyed with his prior rudeness and now flustered at the softness of his cheek in the firelight. I picked the jerky to pieces and fed it to Digger slowly, making him chew it.
“Um.” Jack said, still lingering beside me. I turned, not enough to see him, but enough to show I was listening. He paused for a second. “Uh, Quinn?”
“Mm?”
“I, um.” He took a deep breath and continued in a very formal voice. ”I apologise for my previous actions before, at the fire.”
I looked up at him. His eyebrows were lifted expectantly, though I read true remorse on his face.
“Okay.” I wiped the dog slobber off on the snow, cast a quick glance at the other dogs who were now happily fed and settling in for the night. Satisfied and not willing to disturb them, I marched over and took up Jack’s tarp.
“Hey!” He said, an accusatory edge to his voice. I looked up, irritated he would think I might do something to damage it, especially since it had already been spoiled with fish juice.
“Hey yourself.”
I laid the tarp out on a rock and piled a few handfuls of snow onto the stained piece, then took up a rock and started to scrape it down.
“Oh… sorry.” He ran a hand threw his hair, smiling bashfully.
“I ain’t out to get ya.” I grunted, looking down to hide the redness on my face. “What’re ya reading?”
“Oh, it’s uh, it’s called A Journey to the Centre of the Earth.” He pulled the book from his pocket and made his way over to show me. It was a thick thing, brown, with a beautiful gold illumination on the front. I looked at it close and saw it was a picture of three people on a raft, one holding what seemed to be a torch. “It’s an adventure story about a professor and his nephew who travel down a volcano into the Earth’s core, which turns out to be hollow and full of all sorts of weird creatures.”
“My… Do you s’pose it’s really like that?” I replaced the snow and scraped it down again.
“Who knows?” He chuckled. “When we were walking today I couldn’t stop imagining the snow collapsing under me and falling down into the underworld. Who knows what’s down there?”
“Well, if the volcano at Alligator Lake is any indicator, I suspect it's naught but hot gravy down there.”
“Gravy?” He giggled, tongue between his teeth. “I guess you’re right, but where’s the fun in that?”
“Nowhere, I s’pose.” I tossed away the rock and dug around in my inside pockets until I found my mother’s lavender oil. There was still a little there, so I sacrificed a drop to help mask the reek of the tarp. “You oughta read me some tonight, since I cleaned your bed up real nice. Help me sleep.”
“Sure.” His face lit up in a grin so wide I could see both rows of his teeth. “Will you move your tarp back over? I won’t be such a jackass, I promise.”
“Course you won’t.” I strolled by him on my way to collect my tarp. His eyes followed me, then my hand as it ran along his shoulder as I passed. “You might stink like one, though.”

Adventure Awaits: Discover the Best of Vietnam Through Motorcycle Tours
Vietnam is a land of breathtaking natural beauty, rich cultural traditions, and winding roads that invite exploration. For those seeking more than just a typical vacation, Vietnam motorcycle tours offer a uniquely immersive and thrilling way to discover the country’s most captivating landscapes. Whether you're cruising through rice terraces, winding mountain passes, or vibrant city streets, exploring Vietnam on two wheels creates a deep connection with the land and its people. This mode of travel isn’t just about getting from one place to another—it’s about experiencing the journey, moment by moment, in the most intimate way possible.
Motorcycle touring in Vietnam has grown in popularity over the past decade, drawing adventurers from across the globe. The country’s long, narrow shape and varied topography make it ideal for extended rides. From the southern lowlands to the northern highlands, there are thousands of kilometers of scenic roads waiting to be explored. What makes Vietnam motorcycle tours so special is not only the freedom they offer but the access they provide to hidden corners of the country—villages, trails, and communities that are often missed by tourists traveling by bus or car.
One of the most popular routes for riders begins in Ho Chi Minh City and winds through Cat Tien National Park before ascending into the Central Highlands and eventually reaching the cool, pine-covered hills of Da Lat. This route showcases some of the best contrasts in Vietnam’s landscape. Cat Tien offers lush jungle, biodiversity, and riverside tranquility, while Da Lat feels almost European, with its colonial architecture, flower gardens, and temperate climate. Each stop along the way provides an opportunity to interact with local communities, learn about regional history, and sample authentic Vietnamese cuisine prepared fresh by locals.
Northern Vietnam offers another kind of adventure entirely. The famed Ha Giang Loop is a bucket-list journey for many motorbike enthusiasts. Known for its dramatic limestone cliffs, winding roads, and ethnic minority villages, this remote region provides a rugged and rewarding experience. Travelers can visit local markets, sleep in homestays, and witness daily life in a part of Vietnam that remains deeply traditional. The ride itself is physically demanding but visually rewarding at every turn. It’s a route that challenges the body but nourishes the soul.
Then there’s the legendary Ho Chi Minh Trail, a network of roads used during the Vietnam War that now provides riders with a historic and scenic path through the countryside. Winding through dense jungle, along rivers, and over mountain passes, this route offers a more off-the-grid experience for those who seek solitude and raw nature. In central Vietnam, riders can explore the ancient capital of Hue, visit the historic city of Hoi An, or take a break along the coastal roads overlooking the South China Sea. Each route tells its own story and offers a different flavor of Vietnam’s beauty.
The type of bike you ride matters, too. Most tours use rugged, well-maintained motorcycles such as the Honda CRF or XR series, which are suitable for both on-road and off-road conditions. Safety equipment is typically provided, including helmets, gloves, and protective jackets. For those unfamiliar with Vietnam’s traffic, experienced guides offer both support and peace of mind. They know the roads, the weather patterns, the local customs, and the best spots to stop for photos, rest, or a delicious bowl of pho.
While independent touring is possible for seasoned riders, guided tours provide several key advantages. Local guides bring not just mechanical knowledge but cultural insight, ensuring that riders have meaningful interactions with communities rather than just passing through. Group dynamics also add a sense of camaraderie to the journey, and logistical concerns like accommodation, meals, and fuel stops are all taken care of. For those looking to maximize both adventure and ease, guided motorcycle tours are an excellent choice.
Cultural immersion is a major part of the experience. Whether you're invited into a traditional stilt house for tea in the north or sharing seafood with fishermen in the Mekong Delta, motorcycle touring opens doors that typical tourism can’t. Travelers often find themselves involved in local festivals, market days, or family meals—all experiences that create lasting memories and meaningful stories.
Of course, Vietnam’s cuisine is a highlight of any trip. Each region boasts its own culinary traditions, from the spicy noodles of Hue to the French-influenced pastries of Da Lat. On a motorcycle tour, riders get to enjoy food at the source—whether it’s grilled meats prepared on an open fire or fresh fruit bought from roadside stalls. The mobility of traveling by bike means no restaurant is too out of the way and no meal is ever rushed.
When considering the best time to embark on a motorcycle tour in Vietnam, it’s important to factor in regional climates. The north is best visited in spring or autumn, when the weather is cool and dry. The south remains warm year-round, but the wet season from May to October can affect road conditions. Central Vietnam experiences a rainy season from September to December, which might influence your choice of route. Planning ahead with a reputable tour operator helps ensure the journey is both safe and enjoyable.
Travelers should also be aware of legal and safety requirements. A valid international driver’s license with a motorcycle endorsement is typically needed, and comprehensive travel insurance that includes motorbike riding is essential. Most tour companies will provide a safety briefing and orientation session before departure, ensuring everyone is well-prepared for the journey ahead.
In addition to the thrill of the ride and the beauty of the landscapes, many travelers cite a sense of transformation after completing a Vietnam motorcycle tour. The combination of physical challenge, cultural immersion, and shared experiences leads to personal growth and a deeper appreciation for Vietnam as a country and a people. Whether you’re a solo adventurer or traveling with friends, the memories created on the road stay with you long after the tour ends.
Ultimately, Vietnam motorcycle tours offer more than just a scenic vacation—they provide a chance to experience freedom, forge connections, and embrace the unexpected. With every turn of the road, every mountain pass, and every village smile, riders find a deeper connection not only with Vietnam but with themselves.

Everest Base Camp Trek 14 Days – A Classic Himalayan Adventure
Dreaming of standing at the foot of the world's highest mountain? The Everest Base Camp trek in 14 days is your chance to turn that dream into reality. This iconic Himalayan journey takes you through ancient Sherpa villages, deep valleys, and soaring peaks, all the way to the legendary base of Mount Everest. In just two weeks, you’ll hike through some of the most breathtaking landscapes on Earth, challenge your limits, and collect memories that last a lifetime. Whether you’re a seasoned trekker or chasing your first big adventure, this is the trek that belongs on every bucket list.
Tumblr media
A Journey That Starts with a Scenic Flight
The trek begins with a short and exciting flight from Kathmandu to Lukla, a small mountain airport. This flight gives you your first view of the Himalayas and sets the tone for the adventure ahead.
From Lukla, the trail goes through traditional villages like Phakding, Namche Bazaar, and Tengboche. Each day brings new sights, new paths, and new experiences as you climb slowly toward Everest Base Camp.
What to Expect Each Day
The Everest Base Camp trek 14 days is designed with enough time to help your body adjust to the altitude. There are two rest and acclimatization days along the route – one in Namche Bazaar and one in Dingboche. These days are important to prevent altitude sickness and allow your body to stay strong.
The walking hours each day range from 4 to 7 hours, depending on the distance and elevation. The final destination, Everest Base Camp, sits at an altitude of 5,364 meters. Reaching it is a big achievement and a proud moment for many trekkers.
Major Highlights of the Trek
One of the most exciting parts of the trek is the hike to Kala Patthar, a high viewpoint near Everest Base Camp. From here, you get a close-up view of Mount Everest and the surrounding peaks. Many trekkers say the sunrise from Kala Patthar is the best mountain view they have ever seen.
Other highlights include visiting Tengboche Monastery, walking along the Khumbu Glacier, and enjoying the warm hospitality of the Sherpa people. The trail also gives you views of many other famous peaks like Lhotse, Ama Dablam, and Nuptse.
Best Time for the Trek
The best seasons for the Everest Base Camp trek are spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November). During these months, the weather is clear, the skies are blue, and the mountains can be seen clearly.
Winter is colder and has more snow, while the summer monsoon season brings rain and clouds, which can hide the views.
Accommodation and Food on the Trail
You will stay in tea houses during the trek. These are small lodges that offer basic rooms and home-cooked meals. The food is simple and filling. Common meals include dal bhat (rice and lentils), noodles, soups, and tea.
Most trekkers carry a warm sleeping bag, light snacks, and their personal gear. You can also hire a guide or porter to help carry your backpack and provide support.
A Life-Changing Experience
The Everest Base Camp trek 14 days is more than just a hike. It is a personal journey through the mighty Himalayas. Every step brings you closer to nature, culture, and yourself. The landscapes are powerful, the people are kind, and the feeling of standing at the base of Mount Everest is something you will never forget.
If you dream of trekking in Nepal and seeing Mount Everest with your own eyes, this two-week adventure is the perfect way to do it.

Mardi Himal vs Annapurna Base Camp: Which Is Better for First-Time Trekkers?
Nepal is a trekker’s paradise, and if you’re planning your first adventure in the Himalayas, two names likely top your list: Mardi Himal Trek and Annapurna Base Camp (ABC) Trek. Both are incredibly scenic, beginner-friendly, and accessible from Pokhara, but each offers a different flavor of trekking in Nepal. So, which one should you choose as your first Himalayan trek?
In this guide, we’ll compare Mardi Himal and Annapurna Base Camp treks side-by-side, helping you decide based on difficulty, scenery, cost, duration, altitude, crowd levels, and overall vibe. Whether you’re looking for solitude or a classic experience, you’ll find the perfect fit.
The Trekking Experience: Solitude vs Classic Vibe
Mardi Himal Trek is often described as a “hidden gem.” Though it’s gaining popularity, it still offers a quieter and more serene trail experience. The route takes you through lush forests, ridge-line trails, and stunning viewpoints of Machapuchare (Fishtail), Annapurna South, and Hiunchuli.
Annapurna Base Camp Trek, on the other hand, is a classic for a reason. You’ll trek deep into the heart of the Annapurna Sanctuary, surrounded by towering peaks. The trail is more established, and you’ll find more teahouses, other trekkers, and a more social atmosphere.
If you prefer off-the-beaten-path serenity, go for Mardi Himal. If you’re looking for a famous, bucket-list experience, ABC is a solid choice.
Difficulty and Physical Demands
For a first-time trekker, difficulty is a big factor. The Mardi Himal Trek is shorter and generally easier. The trail is less steep and the overall elevation gain is moderate. Most itineraries last 4 to 6 days, depending on your pace.
The Annapurna Base Camp Trek typically takes 7 to 10 days. It includes more ups and downs, and you’ll reach higher altitudes—up to 4,130 meters (ABC) compared to 4,500 meters (Mardi High Camp). However, the ABC trail is well-maintained, and the longer duration gives more time to acclimatize.
If you’re short on time or worried about stamina, Mardi is more manageable. But if you’re relatively fit and up for a bit more of a challenge, ABC is still very doable.
Scenery and Landscape
Both treks offer jaw-dropping views, but the type of scenery differs.
Mardi Himal: Think ridge-line trails, alpine forests, and dramatic up-close views of Machapuchare. It’s more about panoramic scenery with fewer settlements.
Annapurna Base Camp: You’ll walk through villages, rice terraces, bamboo forests, and eventually into the high alpine glacial amphitheater of the Annapurna Sanctuary.
Tumblr media
Accommodation and Amenities
Annapurna Base Camp has better infrastructure overall. There are more teahouses, better food options, and Wi-Fi is more readily available. You’re more likely to get hot showers and decent phone signal along the route.
Mardi Himal, being more remote, offers simpler lodges with basic facilities. The teahouses are cozy but fewer in number, especially past Forest Camp. It’s a good choice if you’re okay with fewer comforts in exchange for peaceful surroundings.
Duration and Itinerary
Mardi Himal Trek: 4 to 6 days Pokhara – Kande – Forest Camp – High Camp – Viewpoint – Low Camp – Sidhing – Pokhara
Annapurna Base Camp Trek: 7 to 10 days Pokhara – Nayapul – Ghandruk/Chhomrong – Bamboo – Deurali – ABC – Jhinu Danda – Nayapul – Pokhara
If you’re on a tight schedule, Mardi Himal is easier to fit in. But if you want a longer, more immersive trek, ABC offers a fuller experience.
Crowd Levels
ABC is one of the most popular treks in Nepal, so expect to meet lots of fellow trekkers along the way. It’s a social trail with vibrant teahouse stops, but that also means crowds, especially in peak season.
Mardi Himal is relatively quiet and attracts fewer trekkers. This makes it perfect for those seeking peace, reflection, and fewer footprints.
Cost Comparison
Both treks are budget-friendly, but Mardi Himal is slightly cheaper because of its shorter length. Expect to spend:
Mardi Himal: $250–$400
Annapurna Base Camp: $350–$600
These estimates include permits, accommodation, food, transport, and a guide/porter if you hire one.
Permits Required
Both treks require two permits:
TIMS Card (Trekkers’ Information Management System)
ACAP (Annapurna Conservation Area Permit)
Cost is the same for both treks—around NPR 4,000–5,000 in total.
Final Verdict: Which is Better for First-Time Trekkers?
If you’re looking for a short, less crowded, and peaceful trek with spectacular mountain views, go for Mardi Himal. It’s easier, quicker, and still offers an authentic Himalayan experience.
But if you’re okay with a longer trek and want the classic Himalayan base camp experience with more comfort and cultural exposure, Annapurna Base Camp might be the better choice.
Whichever you pick, both trails are fantastic introductions to trekking in Nepal—and chances are, it won’t be your last!

Who is The Extreme Traveller?
The Extreme Traveller is not just a brand; it’s a lifestyle, a community for explorers who aren’t afraid to get lost in the unknown. Born on the edge of adrenaline and curiosity, our travel stories go beyond picture-perfect itineraries. Explore Unseen India: Places You Never Knew Existed
India is a land of stories, but not all of them are told. Let’s unveil some of the lesser-known but incredibly mesmerizing destinations that deserve a spot on your bucket list.
1. Ziro Valley, Arunachal Pradesh
Tucked away in the far northeast, Ziro Valley is a tranquil haven surrounded by pine-covered hills and rice fields. Home to the Apatani tribe, Ziro is untouched by urbanization and retains a rustic charm that speaks to the soul. Whether you're chasing clouds or soaking in tribal culture, this is the kind of place that defines what it means to explore unseen India.
2. Sandakphu, West Bengal
Forget the popular trekking spots in Himachal or Uttarakhand. Sandakphu offers views of not one, but four of the world’s five highest peaks — Everest, Kanchenjunga, Lhotse, and Makalu — all in one frame. This trek is for those who are willing to go off the grid to witness surreal sunrises and the mystical Sleeping Buddha silhouette.
3. Dzukou Valley, Nagaland
A blooming paradise hidden in Nagaland’s misty hills, Dzukou Valley is often dubbed as the “Valley of Flowers of the Northeast.” It's an offbeat destination where time slows down and nature speaks louder than any city noise. Ideal for the hidden places explorer who finds peace in solitude and inspiration in the unknown.
Travel Beyond Limits: Embrace the Extreme
For the Extreme Traveller, comfort zones are boring. Here’s how you can truly travel beyond limits and make every journey a transformative experience.
Go Beyond Tourist Trails
Swap your luxury resort stay in Goa for a beach camping experience in Gokarna. Ditch the Taj Mahal for the lesser-known Chand Baori stepwell in Rajasthan. Choose places that challenge the typical tourist narrative.
Engage with Locals
Real stories are found in real people. Eat in local homes, learn tribal dances, speak regional dialects, and understand the fabric that makes India so diverse. It’s the only way to explore unseen India in its rawest, most authentic form.
Adventure as a Lifestyle
From ice-climbing in Spiti Valley to river-rafting in Zanskar or caving in Meghalaya — adventure is the heartbeat of the extreme traveller. Don’t just chase places, chase experiences that fuel your soul.
Offbeat Destinations Worth Adding to Your List
India is brimming with destinations that haven’t yet made it to mainstream travel brochures. Here are a few more that define offbeat travel:
4. Gokarna, Karnataka
Often overshadowed by Goa, Gokarna offers a more spiritual and serene beach experience. Trek across beaches, meditate at clifftop temples, and spend the night under the stars — all without the tourist overload.
5. Majuli Island, Assam
The world’s largest river island, Majuli is a hub of Neo-Vaishnavite culture and traditional Mishing tribal villages. Its disappearing landmass is both poetic and tragic, making it a must-visit for travellers who care about culture, nature, and conservation.
6. Tirthan Valley, Himachal Pradesh
Forget crowded Manali. Tirthan is where crystal rivers, whispering pines, and ancient Himalayan villages await you. Ideal for trekking, trout fishing, or simply unplugging from digital chaos.
Why Choose The Extreme Traveller?
At The Extreme Traveller, we’re not just exploring places — we’re exploring perspectives. We believe that travel should be personal, powerful, and purposeful. Whether you’re trekking through ghost villages, stargazing in the deserts of Kutch, or discovering underground rivers, our goal is to help you see India like never before.
Every post, every story, and every journey we share is a reminder that the best destinations are often the ones no one talks about. If your heart beats for places unknown and you’re always looking for your next adrenaline rush, then you’ve already found your tribe.

Story
Around world
Once upon a time, in a small cozy town, Jessie and April were having a conversation at their favorite cafe. Jessie looked frustrated and said, I'm fed up, I can't do this anymore.
April, curious about what was bothering her friend, asked, What's wrong, Jessie? You seem really upset.
Jessie sighed and replied, I'm tired of not being able to find anything coeliac or gluten-free in this town. I need a change, I need to go to a big city where I can find more options.
April nodded in understanding and asked, Do you have any plans in mind?
With a mischievous twinkle in her eye, Jessie whispered, I have a secret plan. I want to go on a holiday to a secret destination.
Intrigued, April leaned in closer and whispered, What's the secret, Jessie?
Jessie smiled and said, It's been on my bucket list for a long time. I've always wanted to go there.
April gasped in excitement and said, I can't wait to find out! But let's keep it a secret for now. Let's see if anyone else joins us on this adventure.
Jessie nodded and added, I'll give you a hint. It's somewhere very hot.
April thought for a moment and said, It always rains a lot there, right? Can you guess where we're going?
Don't spoil the surprise, Jessie replied with a wink. But here's another clue - they have amazing boat noodles and rice and curry. This country has two airports and beautiful beaches.
April's eyes widened in realization. Are we going to Thailand? she asked eagerly.
Yes, you got it! Jessie exclaimed. But that's not all. We're going on a cruise to visit three sponsor children in Ethiopia and Spain. And we'll have a stop in Turkey, where I had a swimming pool accident once. It's a top-secret destination.
The friends continued to plan their exciting adventure, discussing the challenges and fun activities they would encounter along the way. From eating all-you-can-eat ice cream to saving up for a villa in Tenerife, they were ready for the journey of a lifetime.
As they sipped on their coffees and shared laughs, Jessie and April knew that their friendship would only grow stronger through their random and adventurous travels. And so they set off on their quest to explore new cultures, make unforgettable memories, and conquer each challenge that came their way.
And as they sailed away to their first destination, Jessie and April knew that their bond and their bucket list dreams would forever connect them in the most magical way.
What next on Jessie and April crusie Trip can you guest?

Everest Base Camp Trek: A Journey to the Top of the World
Tumblr media
The Everest Base Camp Trek is not just a trek—it’s a life-changing adventure, a dream realized for those who seek to stand at the foot of the world’s tallest peak. Nestled in the Khumbu region of Nepal, this iconic trail takes you through some of the world’s most stunning landscapes, all the way to the base camp of Mount Everest, standing proudly at an elevation of 18,200 feet. Whether you are a seasoned trekker or someone with a passion for adventure, the EBC Trek offers a truly unforgettable experience.
Why the Everest Base Camp Trek Should Be on Your Bucket List
The Everest Base Camp Trek is the ultimate Himalayan adventure, bringing you closer to not just Mount Everest but also some of the world’s highest peaks. As you trek through the picturesque Sherpa villages, you’ll catch a glimpse of four of the six tallest mountains on Earth: Cho Oyu (8,201 m), Makalu (8,470 m), Lhotse (8,516 m), and, of course, Mount Everest (8,848 m).
But the trek is much more than just stunning views—it’s about connecting with the people, culture, and history of the Himalayas. Along the way, you’ll encounter the charming Sherpa villages, Buddhist monasteries, and monuments like the Tenzing Norgay Stupa—a tribute to the legendary mountaineer who conquered Everest alongside Sir Edmund Hillary.
The Journey: From Kathmandu to Everest Base Camp
Your adventure begins in Kathmandu, the bustling capital of Nepal. After exploring this vibrant city, a scenic flight takes you to Lukla, where your trek officially starts. From here, the path leads you through the heart of the Khumbu region, passing through Phakding, Namche Bazaar, Tengboche, and several other villages, all while offering breathtaking views of the towering peaks surrounding you.
One of the most important aspects of the trek is acclimatization. Trekking at high altitudes can be challenging, so we’ve designed the itinerary with plenty of rest days. This allows your body to adapt to the thinner air, ensuring a safer and more enjoyable experience.
The key stops along the way include:
Namche Bazaar – The vibrant heart of the Khumbu region, perfect for acclimatization and enjoying the stunning views of Everest.
Tengboche Monastery – A spiritual haven surrounded by snow-capped mountains.
Dingboche & Lobuche – Traditional Sherpa villages, offering views of Everest and its neighboring peaks.
Gorak Shep – The last stop before Everest Base Camp, where you’ll feel the true majesty of the Himalayas.
Kala Patthar – The pinnacle of your journey, standing at 5,550 meters, where you’ll have panoramic views of Everest, Lhotse, and the surrounding peaks.
What to Expect on the Trek
The Everest Base Camp Trek is challenging but absolutely achievable with the right preparation. The terrain varies from lush forests to rocky paths, icy rivers, and alpine meadows. You will walk through narrow ridges and bridges over gushing rivers, and be surrounded by towering peaks that will leave you awestruck.
Though it’s not a technically difficult trek, it requires a good level of physical fitness due to its high altitude and long days of walking. The distance covered each day varies, but typically you will trek between 5-7 hours daily. While the trail is generally well-maintained, it can be rocky and steep in certain sections.
The Accommodations: Comfort in the Heart of the Himalayas
You’ll stay in teahouses along the route, providing simple yet comfortable accommodation in the midst of the mountains. These small lodges are run by Sherpa families and offer a chance to experience the warm hospitality of the local people. The food is hearty and energy-packed, with dishes like dal bhat (lentil soup), momos (dumplings), and fried rice. While the amenities are basic, the mountain hospitality and soul-stirring views make up for any lack of luxury.
Best Time to Trek to Everest Base Camp
The most ideal times for trekking to Everest Base Camp are during autumn (September-November) and spring (March-May). During these months, the weather is typically clear, and the views are spectacular. Temperatures during the day are pleasant, ranging from 10°C to 15°C (50°F to 59°F), while nights can get quite cold, with temperatures dropping to -3°C to -7°C (27°F to 19°F) at higher altitudes.
However, trekking in the mountains can be unpredictable, so always be prepared for unforeseen weather changes. Ensure you pack appropriate gear, including layers of clothing, sun protection, and a good pair of trekking boots.
Physical Preparation: Are You Ready?
The Everest Base Camp Trek is a moderate to difficult grade trek, requiring good physical fitness. Although you don’t need prior mountaineering experience, the trek demands endurance, especially as you gain altitude. Here’s what you need to prepare for:
Altitude: EBC is situated at 18,200 feet, and at high altitudes, your body needs time to adjust to the thinning air. We’ve incorporated acclimatization days in the itinerary to help you avoid Altitude Mountain Sickness (AMS).
Fitness: Regular cardio exercises, such as hiking, running, cycling, and stair climbing, will improve your stamina. Aim to be active for at least 4-5 days a week for 6-8 weeks leading up to your trek.
Mental Preparation: The trek will push you physically and mentally. The key is to stay positive, pace yourself, and trust the journey. You’ll find that the rewards far outweigh the challenges!
