Your bed after traveling.

In which a retainer returns home...

As the door clicked shut behind Prudence let her bag hit the floor with a heavy thump. She would unpack it later. Shedding her jacket next she tossed it over the worn travel pack and then gave the whole thing a few swift, angry kicks. 

The trip had been… stressful. Her Lady was an exacting sort and while Prudence could and did appreciate that, she also fucking hated it. It meant she knew exactly what was expected of her and her work. It also held little room for mistakes or slowness.

But, it is work she is proud of. 

Finally turning from her abused bag and coat with plans of bed she is brought up rudely short by the apology at the end of her kitchen counter. At least Prudence assumes it to be an apology. That was usually how these things went. A bundle of flowers (ugh), a sealed letter addressed simply to “Pruny” (foul), and an innocuous paper brown bag (interesting). The flowers are hearty, no sign of wilting at all. Taking a deep breath she imagines she can still smell Gerry; living things and campfire smoke and musk. She imagines the duskwight creeping in to leave behind the gifts. Something that might work on the noble floozies her sometimes-partner fucks when they fight. 

It won’t work on her. Forgiveness hasn’t taken root quite yet. 

But --

Taking the steps up to her bed the paper back crinkles in her hand as she opened it. She cannot resist something claiming to be inconspicuous. Inside she is pleased to find several of Gerry’s handrolls and when she shoves her face into the opening she comes back up coughing. Nice. Kicking out of her shoes, Prudence tossed the bag onto her nightstand while she weighed her new options. 

From the corner the bath whispered promises of warmth and relaxation. It would be the responsible thing to do, scrubbing the road from her skin. For certain she is -- ripe. Paired with one of the handrolls and a bottle of something it would be a good enough evening. Might even be good enough to nurture that forgiveness. 

But the bed is stretched out before her like a lover, eager and waiting. Its blankets still unmade from the last morning she awoke tangled among them. Prudence knows the sheets will be wonderfully cold and downy soft and will carry her to sweet, thoughtless oblivion. At least for a time. 

As she scrubbed a yawn from her face it became an easy choice. 

Prudence fell into the linen clouds of her bed. She didn't bother to shuck the remainder of her clothing and sleep staked her claim soon enough. Dragging Prudence down into a tender cradle she wouldn't allow any living lovers. She indulged in the fall, landing in pleasant dreams punctured with short nightmares. 

Far too soon her linkshell crackled to life. Her Lady’s voice is loud, clear, and chilly as it spoke a command in her ear, “Prudence, come.”

Edna calmly stomps her foot once, summoning a sharp rock pillar to intercept the fiend in the bushes behind the newcomer. This girl is a new face to Edna, but there has been no time to get acquainted because they were apparently ambushed by a stray group of monsters wandering by shortly after Edna somehow found herself here. The girl took out some of the monsters herself with a long pole-like weapon, which left Edna to finish the lingering small fries; not that she minds.

Dusting herself off, she regards the other with an arched eyebrow. ❛  Is there a name to go with your face, or should I call you HP Girl?  ❜ Hat-Pole Girl seems too long, so it must be shorter, Edna thinks. In quiet, unsaid gratitude, she remarks flatly, ❛  You did come to my rescue, after all. HP Girl seems like an odd name for my savior.  ❜

“I just… I don’t get it...”

Perhaps it was supposed to be a half-hearted complaint, an idle bit of conversation to fill the silence settling ‘tween them as the two of them worked through the growing heap of items in desperate need of repair.

“How does some of this even happen?” Heron asks, holding up one of the mage’s hats that looked… suspiciously like a squirrel had been chewing on the rim. “And how does it end up here? I know Tataru is happy to help, but…”

But she was overwhelmed, was what he wanted to say. She took on a great many projects, not just as treasurer for the Scions. She’s made an outfit for the both of them on at least one occasion, without any prompting, even knowing both of their esteemed Warriors of Light were well and fully capable of making it themselves. And now she had a growing stack of things that the Scions needed repaired.

“She could’ve asked us for help…”

He almost sounds miserable the way he whines the words out, knowing full well that he would be no different were he the treasurer and Tataru the other Warrior of Light. She’d certainly look a bit better standing beside Deidra than he did! And he wouldn’t be in the spotlight! That’d be nice…

“Is that so?” Akira is not sure what prompted this as he is sure nothing they were currently talking about had anything to do with this line of thinking. But Akira couldn’t relate because he has some missing memories and he wasn’t even old to have them be presented towards him in a scary fashion. Still, he guesses that losing things weren’t really a good situation to happen to anyone no matter how many years down the road it went. 

“Although, you probably wouldn’t want to forget some things. It can be really bad for any scenario. One minute you could be flying high above the sky and then next, be in an interrogation room, beat up to hell without any memory on how you got there or what had happened to you to receive such rough treatment in the first place. .........”.

Uh oh. Whoops. Maybe Akira had set the example too close to home. He coughs in his fist and nonchalantly looks towards an exit because Akira clearly wants this discussion to be over with pronto.

It is true that what happened was not a polite thing but Shutaro understood ...humans. He was a human once, he wishes to remain as much as he can human, so all he could do is forgive and move on. Plus, what happened would not be classified as an excuse for a murder. The guy was a jerk, yes, but killing him for hitting his cap off his head and proceed to toss it around until it got dirty? no. Shutaro, so far, had not killed any human after his transformation. He was in the 1932 war but after that, he was placed under Maeda’s command and from there they only fought vampires who disobeyed the law to live in harmony with humans. 

Gently patting his cap to clean the dust out of it, he smiled wryly at the other before he put his cap on. Adjusting it to make sure sunlight does not come directly at his face, otherwise, the sun cream won’t hold for long.

“Haha. It’s alright.” Got used to it. Humans are ... humans, they will make fun of someone who they think is weaker than them, and honestly, he knows he looks ...er, weak. He’s neither proud or happy about this but he does not want to be intimidating either. He’s..content with how he looks.

To Shu’s comment, Shutaro flailed his arms defensively, “Wh- No! No, no no! I-I can’t do that! Murder is not okay! Morally is not okay, O'Keefe-san! Don’t say that again! Th-that’s...sad...and bad ....and....not human....” little did he know about what the other work as. “Murder is not a solution ....at all ...” Maeda-san ... I bet you are laughing in your grave at his still naive thinking. He is himself, he cannot be someone else. Killing ... is never an option he would consider immediately.

I really wanted to do the thing... but I also needed way less boxes to fill in so I made my own version of the template.

Pros:

You will never be bored again. Mihli has an adventurous spirit full of wanderlust and wonder. It's incredibly hard for her to stay in one place and she's always looking to dabble in new experiences. This is of course unless she's settled into her favorite cozy window nook with a good book.

Much like adventure Mihli craves knowledge. When she's not galivanting around as a courier for Firelight Trading Company, her nose is often stuck in a book. But being both street and book smart has a lot of advantages. Mihli is a wealth of information, and often has the answers to many questions. Think of her like a walking, talking Encyclopedia Eorzea. She is also well versed in several languages.

Despite her love of being out in the world Mihli is a very hard worker who strives to pay back or pay forward whatever good has been passed on to her. A great example of this is when Mihli and Lysander met, she wound up earning her board (living under his roof) by volunteering to take care of his home (which was in shambles).

She's not a chef, but she's a great home cook and some of her homemade dishes will definitely win over a hungry soul.

Mihli will always do her best to be there when you need her, but never over step into your affairs. She does her best to not cast judgement and offer a safe and comfortable space for those in need of help.

Cons:

She requires a lot of attention. And I mean a LOT of attention. Mihli's partner, Lysander is often victim to her shenanigans which includes her sprawling out over his paperwork and research if he does not pay enough attention to her.

While she won't pry into your affairs, Mihli does struggle with boundaries and personal space. She'll want to be in the middle of everything, much like a feral cat. Doing chores? She's getting in the middle of it. Trying to work? She's either trying to help or getting in the middle of it. Going somewhere? ...there's a crimson haired cat girl blindly following after you. Mihli always wants to be involved and sometimes or depending on the person, this is to a detriment.

The memories of her old life are still a bit fuzzy. She's reclaimed most of it, but sometimes she'll find herself frustrated by a foggy lack of detail. She'll have nightmares about her old life, but find herself even more unnerved and frustrated when she wakes up and struggles to remember what so vivid in her dream world just moments before she opened her eyes.

Reading Fixations. If she finds a topic which is particularly fascinating to her, its almost impossible to get her out of the house and her nose out of that subject until she's consumed enough material to be satisfied. This means she can spend up to a week in her book nook completely invested in the pages and forgetting to care for herself, and sometimes those in her home.

Will not and does not keep up with her doctors appointments. This is in part because she's terrified of her Doctor, Shiro, but also just because she hates check ups and medication in general. Lysander also struggles to help Mihli stay medicated. ...Imagine trying to medicate a feral stray cat. That's what it's like trying to get her to take her meds.

Extra Details:

Sexuality: Ultimately, Mihli is a brat. At heart, she's realized she's a submissive who enjoys giving up control after living a life where she's had to be in control and accountable for so long, but only to the right person. She's also a touch starved tsundere who no matter how much touch affection she receives, will never be fully satisfied, but will be angry that you're giving it to her.

Romantically: Mihli just wants to be loved. She doesn't need to hear it, she just needs to know it in her heart. Despite being tsundere about receiving affection, she craves giving it and her love language comes in many colorful and plentiful forms.

Blink Vaniro : Smash or Pass?

...I hope you have a good therapist for even entertaining this.

Pros:

Say good bye to your frequent flyer malms because this ace pilot will take you anywhere your heart desires and show you so many more places you likely don't even know about. (Welcome to the world of Sky Pirates and some of the best hidden locations in the sky... not to mention some of the best sunsets you've ever seen.)

Blink is an easy ace up your sleeve. Whether you need her to fight your battles or fight along side you, this woman is tough as nails and rarely backs down from a fight. She's spent most of her adult life learning various forms of combat and can utilize this knowledge even in the most dire situations. While her most proficient combat skills are with guns, Blink handles herself well when it comes to improvised weapons and combat.

Blink is a survivor. While this can be interpreted a multitude of ways, in this specific instance I mean she's great in the wilderness. You could dump her in the woods and she'd resurface in a few weeks pissed off, but still thriving.

If you've managed to get close to her, trust me, she cares about you. She'll tell you she doesn't. She'll act cold and disinterested. But she cares, even when you think she doesn't and while she'd never admit it, she'd do anything in her power to protect those closest to her, including putting herself in harm's way or even sacrificing herself for those she cares about. Her life is nothing if you cannot press on. Because of this she tends to have a matronly nature which leads a lot of characters around her to thinking of her as a Mom type character.

I don't usually list my character's looks as a pro... but I'm doing it here. Blink's body is a masterpiece of various battle scars. She may be on the shorter side but she's also incredibly athletic and my GOD the things I would do to her abdomen... Trust me, Vaniro is a snack.

Cons:

Not for the feint of heart. It's incredibly difficult for me to ship her with other characters because in truth, Vaniro has a lot of relationship bound trauma. She also has a lot of trust issues.

It takes a very specific type of character to keep her interest. I want to say Blink is incredibly selective, but to be honest I don't even think she thinks about relationships like that. They just sort of... happen. Vaniro doesn't crush on people. If she's flirting with you its more likely she wants something out of you than she wants you. ...If she's flirting with you, honestly, be scared. That's not normal.

Vaniro, despite having a deep love for the people she cares about and remaining incredibly loyal to them, is not a good person. Her background is rooted in criminal activities. Even today, though she's staying on the right side of the law, it doesn't mean she isn't finding ways to bend the rules. Blink will forever make her own luck no matter how she has to get there.

This woman is as stubborn as they come. You will not sway her unless you have a dominant edge over her (this is almost impossible) or you manage to convince her to see reason.

You're going to likely have to be at a better part of your life than she is and be ready to help her through a hand full of problems dealing with her past which can tread some pretty heavy topics. Blink comes with baggage... but she's worth the extra work.

If you don't like Tsundere characters, this woman is not for you. If you look up 'tsundere' in the dictionary you're likely to see her portrait as the definition.

Extra Details:

Sexuality: I think the best way to look at this is to consider her a switch. For the majority of the people around her she presents as a top. In fact, in that regard she wants to be in control. But there is always someone in her life who out ranks her. She needs someone in her life who out ranks her. In truth, Vaniro craves subordination in order to hold her place of authority above others. She thrives in being the right hand man, or woman in this case. Naturally, this goes beyond sexuality as well. But it is also true in the bedroom.

Romantically: Romance is a new experience for Vaniro, one she still hasn't quite wrapped her head around. But if you think kissing a woman who could kill you and watching her systematically short circuit mid sentence because she has no idea how to react, you'd probably enjoy pushing this certain tsundere's buttons frequently.
