Page 14. ---- Madame Jean Zay Is shown leaving Central prison, Riom, with two children after visiting her husband, Jean Zay, who was minister of education in the Daladier cabinet and who was first to suffer military degradation and imprisonment in connection with war guilt trials.

Halban tells the story:

One night we deposited our valuable consignment for safe keeping in the State Prison at Riom. The place in the prison which was most secure from introduction was the death cell, which was cleared for the time being to make room for the water bottles. The dislodged convicts under sentence of death themselves carried the heavy containers into the cell. Next morning the Governor of the prison, probably already in fear of the new masters, refused to release the deposited articles. Dautry's special commissioner had to threaten him with a drawn revolver before he would give them up. Then we were able to continue our journey.

I reorganized my room and there are finally some corners that give some aesthetic vibes. My goal for the rest of the summer is to be well prepared for the next school year in terms of time management and academically (or rather, musically). Today I successfully got up early and had a good practice session, but I could have practiced more had I prepared food in advance.

Status report 2024:

- played more Wii Sports than anytime since 2011

- new dorm is a dump, might have to commute for a while (annoying, but cheaper)

- gave myself bangs

- some dude just baptized the train compartment with iced tea on accident

did u guys know it took until 2024 for it to occur to me to trap enemies in minecraft. it took until i downloaded a mobpack that included little bosses in certain new structures and i got scared and built it into a corner. its been that simple

“Riom Trial Not Likely To Continue,” Kingston Whig-Standard. March 31, 1942. Page 5. ---- VICHY, France, March 31 — The Riom trial of persons accused of responsibility for France's defeat is to be suspended from April 2 to April 15. and although there was no official announcement. it is doubtful whether it will be resumed/ 

The Nazis have frequently expressed dissatisfaction with the turn taken by the trial. 

It had been predicted that if the court was to complete the hearings. they would probably continue into May or even later.

The Rome radio, in a French language broadcast heard in New York, also said the Riom trial would be suspended but that it would be resumed at some later date in a different form "which would conform with the aim that Marshal Petain wishes to attain." 

Thus the Vichy Regime apparently seeks to stop with the least possible publicity a trial which from its inception has proved a boomerang with the defendants accusing their accusers with uncomfortable defiance. 

The trial was planned elaborately almost from the moment old Marshal Petain took over the French Government and made his armistice with the German victors.
