Hmmm, could be, but tbh Kusuo and Kusuke never actually worked things out themselves lol. Kusuke just fled the country. 😂

I think it's more like Kusuo has TRIED to help resolve things between his parents many times different ways (and he's a big problem-solver, think of how many solutions he tends to come up for any given problem), and things have only turned out the same or worse, so he's given up.

Especially since he's mentioned that his attempts to help his dad have only made his dad more useless and dependent on him, rip...

Maybe he's hoping that if they can't work things out that they'll get divorced XD And genuinely a couple that resorts to domestic violence over a single coffee jelly should probably not stay married honestly.

He was having a hard enough time dealing with his classmates, you mean to tell me he had to worry about you, too?

No that he has any issue with you.

On the contrary, you were wonderful. Amazing, in fact.

He likes you.

And therein lies the problem.

Kusuo is very level-headed and he trusts his common sense.

Even though the world around him is… well… Not as level-headed and well-versed in the ways of common sense. 😅

So the realization that he is capable of having this… this unrestrained affection for you blindsided him.

Why is he doing your homework for you today when he is a firm believer in people taking responsibility for their own mistakes?! Oh well, it’s just this once.

He has no choice but to listen to other people’s problems, but why is he actively trying to help you with yours even though it’s going to be more trouble then he’s willing to deal with?! Oh well, it’s just this once. (It’s not)

Sigh. He can’t deny it. He likes you a little too much.

He likes how you aren’t afraid to say what’s on your mind, but at the same time you speak sense.

He likes that you have a good head on your shoulders. Every now and again you can’t help yourself with the Saiki gang, but the fact he can sometimes avoid being dragged into his classmates’ messes just by leaving with you whenever you don’t have time for it is quite refreshing.

Can we talk about how he enjoys being seen with you by Teruhashi way more than he should?

Trying to ask him out in front of you as to intimidate and overshadow you, but at the same time she can’t let it look like a date because of appearances~

Kusuo is just done, and he’s not cool with Teruhashi snuffing you like that.

But you don’t even flinch. You were scared of no-one, and you better believe Saiki filled you in on what she was really like so you knew just how to deal with her.

“Hi Teruhashi, L/n here!” You wave your arm in a wide arc in front of Saiki, making your presence known.

“Given how nice you usually are, I’m sure you didn’t mean to pretend like I wasn’t here-“

‘She definitely did.’

‘Oh, I know.’

You slide over to Saiki, arms touching at the elbows. “-but Saiki’s taking me out this weekend…”

“Oh, r-really? If you don’t mind me asking, where are you going?”

At this, you waved her off. This girl really had it bad for Kusuo. Well, too bad, your plans come first. “It’s a secret~”

It drove PK’s perfect pretty girl nuts!

‘Seriously?! That girl’s been here a whole three months, there’s no way she hasn’t done some exploring on her own! She must be using her ‘new girl’ status to get close to Saiki! Saikiiiiii!!! You CAN’T think she’s prettier and more perfect than me, you just CAN’T!’

Kusuo didn’t know if he could say you were perfect, but he could say without hesitation he preferred looking at you over her. Also, considering that he liked you… a lot…

And he didn’t like Teruhashi… at all…

The comparison just couldn’t be made. Not without making a permanent enemy out of every man in the universe.

He was relieved that he didn’t have to go on another date with Teruhashi. He knew you were only baiting her because she had been rude, but he couldn’t ignore the pleasant humming his heart was doing when you revealed that you were also defending your plans together because you really wanted to spend time with him.

“Sorry, I may have made it seem like more than it was…”

While he was alone one day, investigating these… *gulp* feelings… he ended up getting an unexpected unwanted phone call from his older brother.

At first, he was just gonna let the phone ring. He had more important things to worry about and his super villain brother was not one of them.

But Kusuo knew Kusuke wasn’t going to be snuffed that easily. He’d call the house phone next and his mother would make him talk to him or worse, he would show up in person.

He was better off taking this call and getting on with life.

And baybee! Somehow. Someway.

Kusuke called asking about you. 💀

Like, how sway? Kusuo didn’t say a thing about you, made certain not to alert his parents of your existence but he still found out!

“Silly, did you forget that I see everything? You’re slipping~”

Oh right. His brother spies on him whenever the mood strikes him.

Ugh. Pain.

Having his brother in his business was thee last thing he needed right now. But he may as well get a second opinion. So he spills a teensy bit of tea.

He admits his strong attraction to you, despite the two of you being just friends, and it’s not even in the way most high school boys are attracted to girls.

He suspects that, despite his better judgment, he might be letting you have your way a little too often, even when it doesn’t benefit him in the least to indulge you. To be fair, the amount wouldn’t look like much from a normal person’s perspective.

It’s just a huh-yuuuuge leap for Kusuo personally.

He doesn’t even pursue relationships, but you don’t push him to be one way or the other and it makes him want to reconsider.

And Kusuke, classic evil Kusuke, had to pipe up and say the worst thing ever.

“The answer is very simple, little bro. You’ve inherited dad’s simp gene, and the trait is surfacing for this L/n girl.”

Kusuo hung up right in Kusuke’s face. He should have known better than to expect anything helpful from him. Not about this…

The idea was as impossible as it was ridiculous. Saiki Kusuo was many things. A simp he was not. He knew better than that.

And yet… The more he thought about it, the more similarities he found between the way his father talked about his mother and the way he felt about you.

He was not a simp, but every day spent with you, he felt as if he were slowly creeping towards something scarily close….

While most boys wanted to be just like their fathers, the thought that Kusuo actually might have inherited something, anything from his father, wasn’t a pleasant one.

And this was the worst possible trait he could have gotten. Well. Aside from the freaky skill of polishing $300 leather with one’s tongue but we’re not getting into that.

For a week straight Kusuo gave his father the cold shoulder. Every attempt at any father-son bonding was rebuffed and he refused to help him with his powers.

“I don’t get it Kusuo, why are you being like this! You’re even more surly and cold-hearted than usual!”

‘You cursed me with your incurable disease. I’ll never forgive you.’

“What are you talking about?!”

It took his mother, his grandmother, his friend group AND you to patch the bridge between the two of them.

Oh well, he’ll figure out how to deal with his feelings.

He’s Saiki Kusuo. Making the most messes was his unfortunate specialty.

Kusuo says no. But whenever he sees either Kuniharu or Kusuke, Aren stares at them like a dog that sees a new toy after they just ripped their last one in half. Kuniharu isn’t sure why being around him makes him so uneasy. Kusuke knows and is stressed.

Kusuo is very flustered over the violent cravings on his behalf. It gives him the warm and fuzzies, even if he doesn’t let it happen.

i love the saiki k series as a comedy honestly, it makes it easy to watch and rewatch as many times as i want which i love and the jokes always make me laugh regardless of how many times i’ve seen the episode

but shit dude i so badly wish we got a little more character emotional analysis in the show bc there’s SO much to talk about for everyone. just little heartfelt conversations or more in-depth backstories and seeing how everyone was when they were little, maybe a little angst, ik we can always come to our own conclusions but it would’ve been so cool to see yknow

Saiki K Reawakened Episode 6 is everything to me

Saiki continuously getting startled by people talking to him because he doesn't have telepathy anymore. And then his friends would be like "dude are you okay?" and do their best not to startle him again like I 🥺🥺🥺

Saiki looking at Teruhashi for a really long time being like "oh I guess she is pretty cute" but also the fact that it didn't change the way he felt about her at all

Every "that's easy I'll just use this power" followed immediately up by "Oh right I can't do that anymore" like it's okay you can admit you miss having them

The whole bookshelf scene. Nendo jumping in to shield Saiki. Aren and Toristuka running into the kids who pushed it over and the implication that they (probably mostly, if not only Aren) kicked their assess. Kusuke obviously wants his brother to be a psychic but at the same time he genuinely loves Kusuo and cares about his happiness moreso and supports his decision to shed those powers and even gave him the opportunity to do so and helps him with advice after the fact like😭😭😭

OK imma just write my HCs on the ‘if they had psychic powers and it was confirmed what would they be’, ignoring Saiki’s imagine spot where everyone gets powers

Kokomi Teruhashi - “Blessed By God” -> Luck and charisma boost x a gajillion. This is a direct result of her spirit guardian being actually God. This power is always on and there is no turning it off. The effects person to person may vary but they will never be able to weaken her. 

Secondary, latent effect natural to her and not requiring God. 

“Charming Radiance” -> Induces a shimmering glow, increases beauty stat rendering her ‘unsoilable’, induces people to easily falling in love with and being influenced by her. The lattermost is magnified by her already being a naturally beautiful and lovable good person. This is always on but is vulnerable to fading in highly stressful situations such as when she refuses to go ‘relieve’ herself for four days for lack of a bathroom.

Shun Kaidou - “Empath” -> hyper-sensitive to the emotions and moods of other people and the causes thereof, utilized in conflict avoidance. He cannot influence other’s emotions. This effect is always on. He has no offensive capabilities, it cannot be strengthened or adjusted to be made ‘cooler’ outisde of very rare externally induced situations. 

Aren Kuboyasu - “War Footing” -> Extra sensory awareness of people within a fifty foot area, adrenaline boost triggered on will. Situational awareness is always on, stat boosted adrenaline is not but is on something of a hair pin trigger and may be activated for no real reason, thereby triggering his fight response.

Kineshi Hairo - “It’s melting, it’s melting!” -> Aura of warmth. Boosts charisma stat, strengthened by working out. Other people’s ESP is less likely to affect him because his energy works like a mini-atmosphere and keeps ‘projectiles’ like status effects out, rendering him largely impervious to Teruhashi. This power is always on but can be increased somewhat for short periods of time depending on how much excess protein he’s eaten in a day.

Riki Nendo - “Sink” -> Nullifies psychic energy to a greater extent than Hairo, negative effect on his intelligence because it eats him up too. rip. This power is usually on but may slip unpredictably, sometimes allowing his IQ to rise or other’s powers to affect him. Birthed by the Nendo tree.

Chiyo Yumehara - “Ganbatte” -> Dramatically improves everyone’s luck stats but hers, allows her confirmed knowledge of God. This power is always on and there is NO turning it off. She is aware of it. This status effect is not affected by other’s regardless of their stat level.

Touma Akechi - “Expy Detective” -> In show expy of Sherlock Holmes. Smart lad. Negative 5 stat on bladder control. This power is always on but can be interfered with by those with stats higher than his (see Teruhashi, Saiki, their ability to throw wrenches into his deductions).

Chisato Mera - “Famine” -> Hunger will not kill this bitch, significant boost to strength and overall capability but at the cost of demoralizing her via making her even hungrier. This power is stress activated.

Hiroshi Satou - “Stock Character” -> Allows him the ability to blend into any situation perfectly while reducing the stats of everyone so long as they’re within or close to his esper level, thereby enabling what Saiki observes to be ‘cliches’. This power is always on and unconsciously performed.

Kurumi Saiki - “Oni On” -> ESP triggered by anger, primary strength, speed, and invulnerability boost. Potential to unlock further capabilities situation dependent. This power is usually dormant.

Kuniharu Saiki - This man has no powers.

Kusuke Saiki - This man has no powers.

Metori Saeko - This man has no powers but doesn’t need them because

Unfortunately imagining himself normal is the psychic equivalent of dividing by zero and cannot happen.

Kusuo and Kusuke’s respective abilities do not mix well. At all. You’re the lucky sacrifice that gets to figure this out.

It’s late. Your phone rings. That’s normal. Picking up your phone, you see something you shouldn’t be seeing.  That is not normal. An app boots up on your screen, colorful and bright in a way that makes your eyes bleed. That’s not the issue. The issue is that you do not have an app like that on your phone.

“A Guide to A Psychic’s Heart: Can You Be the One for Them???” The title is obnoxiously long. However, you’re focused on how this random app got onto your phone and is opening without your prompting. You try to escape the app, but your phone is stuck. You can’t even restart your phone.

You’re irritated. At least until you see the loading screen – there’s a blushing Saiki waiting for you. You must be going dreaming. Crushing on Saiki is one thing but manifesting the boy onto your phone is another thing entirely. You pinch yourself. It hurts like hell. You have to be awake.

Saiki’s turning around, hiding his face behind a book but there’s the telltale signs of blush blooming on his ears. The picture would be endearing if it wasn’t for the obvious frown on Saiki’s face. His lips are drawn tight, eyes narrowed in a clear scowl and then the Saiki wannabe starts to speak.

“Get me out of here.”

And this is not how dating sims are supposed to go, they aren’t supposed to tell you to leave right? But this is Saiki; maybe Saiki’s the token tsundere of the app.

“[Name], are you listening?” It goes from endearing to creepy real fast; you haven’t even mentioned your name anywhere, yet this Saiki rip-off is saying it? Is the app acting cutesy to steal all your data? Has your information already been sold off to the black market, and now there are people waiting patiently to maim you?

“[Name], I need you to do something for me—” you throw your phone away, muting it and flipping it upside down. What you can’t see can’t hurt you. You fall into a fitful rest, unbothered (for the most part) of the psychic that got stuck in your phone.

Tomorrow comes. You have to face your phone eventually. It’s supposed to be dead, needing charging but it’s still on. And Saiki’s still on screen, but this time he’s no longer blushing. He’s at a beach, clearly against his own will and Toritsuka and Aiura have appeared. Toritsuka and Aiura are having the times of their life (you can literally see the hearts surrounding them) but Saiki’s clearly pissed, refusing to even get into the water.

You unmute your phone, physically shifting back from the force of Toritsuka’s shouts. Toritsuka is getting flipped by Saiki for some unfortunate reason – you’d glanced away for a second and came back to the two of them “brawling”. If that’s what you can call

The obnoxious title reappears, “A Guide to A Psychic’s Heart: Can You Be the One for Them???” It asks you: yes or no. It must be your sleep-addled brain that prompts you to pick yes.

The screen changes from the beach: it’s a selection phase. You do the normal thing and pick the guy that’s making you hallucinate a dating sim on you phone. You pick the one and only, Saiki Kusuo. It is a bad idea.

Long, long ago, in a realm different from our own, a boy named Saiki Kusuo lived with his loving brother, Saiki Kusuke. Kusuke loved Kusuo with all his heart, yet the younger boy scorned his brother despite the love Kusuke held for him. They grew apart despite Kusuke’s best efforts—

“That is not true—” Saiki’s voice cuts off the narration, clearly annoyed but the narrator continues with their tale.

And Kusuke could only silently watch his younger brother become infected by the ways of the world. He tried his best, yet Kusuo’s frozen heart refused to thaw. Kusuo was a powerful boy. He had powers others would kill to have. Kusuke was, is a genius – he could’ve solved world hunger if he wasn’t concerned with reeling in the monster that Kusuo was becoming.

“This never even happened Kusuke—”

To save the world from certain doom, Kusuke could only seal Kusuo away in a dating simulator. Now, it is up to you to do what Kusuke could never do, and thaw the heart of Saiki Kusuo, and save the world. You are our only hope.
