A former army Major, the eccentric Stede Bonnet decided to leave his "nagging" wife and became a pirate despite having little or no maritime skills. He fitted out a sloop (the only pirate who actually purchased his own ship) and put to sea with a crew of 7o men. He plundered several ships then fell in with Blackbeard who took charge of Bonnet's sloop when he realised that Bonnet was no seaman. When Blackbeard retired from piracy, Bonnet resumed command but his attacks on shipping off South Carolina provoked an outcry. He was captured and hanged on the waterfront at Charleston in 1718.”

stede becoming friends with steak knife to the point of feeling devastated about his death after drinking and talking to him for less than an hour is the pirate-equivalent of two drunk girlies meeting in the club's bathroom

Integra Stede, Alucard Ed, and Walter Izzy.....

Only roughly based on the plot of Hellsing, Izzy is only a bit older than Stede and was assigned to him when they were young by Stede's family/Hellsing organization specifically to keep an eye Stede to make sure he didn't try anything funny and get in the way of their plans.

Stede is fake figurehead of the family and when not being used, he is essentially shoved to the side and left to his own devices, which is mostly just esoteric research into cryptids and mythical creatures.

Izzy didn't care for Stede at first, viewing the assignment as an annoying job, but after spending time with him as his butler/bodyguard, he finds him to be far kinder and wonderful than expected. Stede treats Izzy like a friend instead of a tool, and Izzy only grows to care for Stede more and more over time.

Stede doesn't stumble upon Ed until he's in his late 20s or early 30s. He's had many years to settle in his ways that the sudden introduction of being the master of a legendary vampire is not something he takes to very gracefully. Ed doesn't mind though, he enjoys how strange but human Stede is.

Ed has lived a very long time, and though he doesn't regret his life as a vampire, he cannot help but long for his lost humanity. He tempts Stede with offers of being turned but Stede turns him down, his reasoning being that there are too many human comforts he would just hate to lose. The answer is hysterical to Ed and makes him immediately like Stede.

Listen. One of my favorite parts of the "stab me" scene is Stede calling Ed a nut. Like, I could listen to him say "I've stabbed you, you nut!" over and over again. It's sweet, incredibly endearing, and just so so silly.

And then the writers had the absolute NERVE to bring it back when Ed died? How did they expect me to recover from this? Why would they devastate us in this way? What gave them the right?

im telling you right now if we get any kind of Significant Looks™️ let alone any actual dialogue between stede and ed during lucius's and pete's wedding that imply anything in the realm of "this could be us someday" i will. i will. well i simply will not be able to hold it together or process anything. i don't even have a shocking yet funny punchline to this post like usual i just think it's going to affect me in ways that are so deep and unreachable that i'll still be discovering the far-reaching effects of that moment 5, 10, even 20 years down the line
