OK but the way that the Musical itself seems to reflect the comics characterisation more then the show (Re-instating the love triangle, Jughead constantly bringing up food and seemingly having no interest in women, Cheryl supposedly being into Archie) and then the show characters actively reject those characterisations and one by one leave and/or strive to change the Musical (Betty and Veronica change their song from a love song about Archie to a love song about each other and kiss, thus subverting the love triangle and meanwhile Archie, instead of protesting this, decides separately to end the love triangle to focus on himself, Jughead leaves the Musical after the first number deeming it beneath him, Cheryl alongside Toni campaign for a queer love song and leave when it isn't added.) Hell, Archie isn't even in the Musical by the end, literally symbolising that the Archie in the musical isn't Riverdale Archie, thus separating Riverdale further from the comics canon and restating that while on paper the show is based off of the Archie comics it is in name only for the most part and in practice basically none of these characters could (or should, in the eyes of the writer's in all likelyhood) be considered the same as their comic counterparts—

something deeply real and homosexual and frightening happened to those two after reggie got home from basketball camp, after archie spent the summer keeping that home safe
and whatever it was it scared archie so bad he ran straight to his little quad and then all the way to california into the arms of a nameless wife and he never fucking looked back, he couldnt look back

This is what Riverdale should have been the whole time. Season 1 was a very competent whodunnit murder mystery and then from season 2 onward it just kept getting more and more ridiculous. And the thing that makes it most ridiculous though - they always lean a little bit into how “oh it’s demons, oh it’s flying babies, oh it’s magical cults, everyone’s disappearing” but then they always explain it away like “well actually it was all just jingle jangle and it was the special paint they were using in the school and he didn’t come back from the dead, it’s actually his secret cousin’s twin who we just found out about who looks exactly like him”. With this miniseries, it’s like "La Llorona shows up, yeah the devil shows up, yeah ghosts are real, Sabrina’s real, magic’s real" it was actually like almost more believable because in a world today where everything’s superheroes and vampires and werewolves I kind of wish Riverdale was just that. The fact that they’ve been trying to keep everything realistic just makes it more ridiculous. Like I kind of wish it was just like “yeah demons are real dude” it makes it so much more easy to digest.

archie intensely bores me as a subject. like all archies r boring its just such a boring name. i am talkinh abput archie andrews. the best thing in his chracter was his constant unionizing and the sexual tension him and jughead had in the earlier seasons

Big fan of that one weirdly specific trope that’s like:
All our parents have a secret past where they were involved with some cult/organization/crime and we, the teen protagonists, are now collectively wrapped up in the actions/mysteries we had no idea our families were hiding.

okay so now that I've finished it, I can say that 1.) I do support the right to mediocre lesbian shows as much as mediocre straight shows but also 2.) first kill was poorly directed, and though it had some really fun scenes and world-building, it was really confused about what it wanted us to feel about monsters and monster-hunting.
netflix start hiring good writers and directors for your shows with lesbian and Black leads. i feel like they set up failure on purpose.

SJAJJSJSSN YEAH, I mean, I spent a solid year totally nuts over outlast! How couldn't I recognise my nemesis from my favourite dlc ever? Well, second favourite dlc, citadel dlc from mass effect is amazing
I DID WONDER AT THE USERNAME TOO cuz oh my god, it could reference so many things and I thought for a while it was a Hannibal reference until I checked and I was all !! Hello Jeremy!
Outlast was one of.... Three games we made a drinking game out of? I introduced it to one of my closest friends in uni and my god that was a fun night.

after s6 aired they said skeet was coming back and now I find out he's not that he was offered to come back and chose not to and I respect his decision I do but I wanted my falice endgame so badly ugh and now apparently their not even leaving the 50's which makes what tabitha said in 701 kind of pointless because I thought the whole point was to eventually go back to some present-ish timeline like ugh srsly I'm so ready for this show to end so I can move on to better shows because every show is better ugh lol

REALLY love the characterization of pop telling veronica she has to wait and she makes this face like "waiting??? hello, i just said I'm a lodge." her character is pretty strong so far from what I've seen in one episode. also i was enjoying the barchie scene as like the intro to them being more than friends but then archie immediately looked at veronica when the bell rang and stared at her which i didn't like from his side for barchie
