RYANN WAS IN AWE OF CASSANDRA. the psychic looked absolutely beautiful and the witch didn't care if everyone realised her thoughts either. usually, ryann was on edge... always waiting for the other shoe to drop. but tonight, tonight was a bit carefree. "may i have this dance?" she asked cassandra as she turn to look at the girl when she approached.

THE MEMORIES THAT R U S H E D INTO HER MIND WOULD HAVE BEEN OVERWHELMING. yet, for some reason, despite not saying what she had to do... ryann did feel like a weight was lifted. one of her biggest regrets had been how she left things with cassandra. she knew she would do it again for luca, but it didn't mean she didn't hate it. cassandra was the first and only choice ryann made for HERSELF. "thank you." she mumbled out. for hearing her out? for being understanding? for being there in that moment? she wasn't sure. maybe she was thanking her for it all. it was probably that. ryann was sure now, that since they finally spoke about it, they could move on. she wasn't sure what that would look like, but it still felt freeing.

Cassie could feel the weight of Ryann’s grip on her hand, and she instinctively gave it a small, reassuring squeeze. She didn’t know the full story yet, but she could sense how hard it was for the witch to share even this much. “Hey,” she said softly, her voice filled with warmth. “You don’t have to push yourself too hard. I can tell this is a lot for you, and that’s okay. Just take it one step at a time." As Ryann continued to speak, Cassie’s heart ached at her words, the sheer weight of her story settling over her like a heavy fog. She didn’t let go of the other's hand; instead, her fingers tightened slightly around hers, a gesture of quiet reassurance. “I'm sorry, Ryann. I had no idea,” she said softly, her voice steady but laced with emotion. “That you went through all of that… it makes so much sense now. Why you left, why you had to. You were protecting him. You were protecting both of you.” She paused, her thumb brushing lightly against Ryann’s knuckles. “You don’t owe me an explanation; not for what you did to keep him safe. But thank you for telling me. It means a lot.” Cassie’s gaze was steady as she looked at her, an unspoken understanding passing between them. “I get it now. Why you felt like you couldn’t stay. And I don’t think I could ever blame you for that.”

Kris caught the shift, the way Ryann almost slipped too deep into thought, and decided not to press. Instead, she flashed a warm smile, bumping Ryann’s shoulder lightly as she turned back to stir the sauce. “Good. ‘Cause once you’re hooked on spa days, there’s no going back.” She shot her a teasing grin. “Next thing you know, you’ll be the one dragging me out for some overpriced cucumber water and a deep tissue massage.”

Letting the conversation settle into something easy, Kris focused on plating up dinner. “But first things first... food. Because no matter how fancy the spa, nothing beats a good home-cooked meal.” She slid a plate toward Ryann, the invitation unspoken but clear: you’re always welcome here. Kris glanced toward the stairs as she set the last plate down. “Alright, before these noodles get cold... Parker! Luca! Dinner’s ready!” She shook her head with a small grin. “Watch, they’ll come sprinting down like they haven’t eaten in days.”

THE WITCH HAD BEEN HONESTLY READY TO LEAVE HOURS AGO. events such as this weren't really her thing. but she wanted to be with cassandra... so she showed up, dragging mat with her. when she felt a presence next to her at the bar, she didn't left her head up, resting it on her arms... "fancy seeing you here." she spoke to the other witch. "can i interest you in a semi decent sour apple martini?" she finally sat up correctly and turned to grin at the fellow witch.

RYANN PUT DOWN THE TASK SHE WAS WORKING ON–- glancing at matalalhuitl, she squinted at him. “ now tell me why i don't trust you right now? ” her tone was full of both amusement and curiosity. despite her words, she didn't actually hesitate. she took the shot glass offered to her and tossed it back. a slight grimace crossed her features. but she managed to mainly shake that off. “ you're being a bad friend. ” she said while laughing. clearly not actually meaning it, but definitely making a mental note to actually start asking him what he's serving her.

early closing at the grapevine was rare, but not unheard of. it was only thirty minutes before their official posted time, but the bar crowd muttered complaints as he ushered them out the door. lucky most of these are the regulars. the locks clicked, freeing him of his duty to the customer until the next afternoon when he'd arrive for opening. unfortunately, the night did not end there. wiping the bar, flipping chairs onto tables, and refilling bottles were the usual closing tasks- but tonight, the additional boxes of new testing liquors sat dauntingly beyond the stockroom door.

the tamarind vodka assaulted his nostrils before it reached his lips. it was a sickly sweet scent that just barely masked the scrape of the artificial spice down his throat. disgusting. but palatable...enough. it would have been better as a tequila, though he was probably biased. he brought the freshly cracked bottle to the break table, setting a new shot glass for his fellow closer. his eyes shot up to ryann, a glint hidden in their gaze. "try this." @hxrricvnes

RYANN COULD EASILY SAY THAT bartending made it to her top five in her ranking of jobs she worked. it was f u n , it kept her busy, and the people she worked with new how to have fun and never push for information. it truly was the [most] freeing. which might be sad if you think about it, but que sera sera. today however, was a slow night. she assumed it was due to the wedding that it seemed almost everyone was attending, but she wouldn't complain. she was still getting paid. leaning with her back against the bar, ryann tilted her head toward isla and smiled. " i feel like i should be grateful it's a slow night, but i'm also kind of just bored. " ryann states with a small laugh. she wouldn't say she's c l o s e with her coworkers, but she has learned to relax around them.
