Hiii, I am not sure if anyone is interested in what brushes I'm using for my art, but hot artists don't gatekeep their brushes, so I'm going to be annoying and make this post anyway :D I use Photoshop to draw, but the brushes can also be opened in Clip Studio Paint, and some have Procreate versions.
Free Brushes:
Aaron Griffin (Photoshop & Procreate)
Bastetmary (Photoshop)
Danar Worya (Photoshop)
Darek Zabrocki (Photoshop)
Deharme Brushes & Oil Brushes (Photoshop)
Devin Elle Kurtz (Photoshop & Procreate)
Evenant (Concept art, Photoshop)
Greg Rutkowski (for traditional-looking art, Photoshop)
HoustonSharp (Photoshop)
Kyle T Webster (Inker, Photoshop)
Marc Brunet (Starter, Photoshop)
Rahll (Photoshop)
RaV89 (Photoshop)
Robotpencil (Photoshop)
Toni Infante (Photoshop & Procreate)
YanjunChengArt (Photoshop & Procreate)
YumingLi (Photoshop)
WesGardner (Sketch, Photoshop & Procreate)
Paid Brushes:
9Brookskim (Photoshop & Procreate)
Anato Finnstark (Photoshop & Procreate)
ArtofAyan (stylized brushes, Photoshop)
Clickbaitcowboy (Photoshop)
FaustoHault (Traditional/Impasto Photoshop)
Macalabs (sketching brushes, Photoshop)
RamonN90 (Photoshop)
Sozomaika (Photoshop)
Su Ke (Photoshop)
The free brushes are really more than enough (and they have most of my faves), so don't worry about buying brushes other than for supporting some awesome artists and getting more variations of a certain brush type (for example, some artists who offer free brush packs also have paid versions). All the paid brushes that I'm listing here are in the 1-10$ range.
When I search for new brushes, I usually look for some really cool styles and how artists use their brushes to create said style, and I try to emulate that to learn from it (though I suck at that xD). Sometimes artists also offer videos to show how they work. However, I keep falling into the trap of believing that getting new brushes will change the look of my art, and I'm warning everyone that that is not the case. Don't make the same mistake as me and think that that will 'fix' stuff (whatever that means). Love and embrace your style because that's what makes your art unique <3

At the Forefront
Blog Post #1
AI is as hot a topic as ever in the art field, but in this stream I caught with Anthony Jones, AKA, Robotpencil, who is a highly sought after concept artist in the industry, Jones feel that AI growth and hype has peaked and is now on a flattening out. "AI has finally fun its course, and I started having this opinion months ago... What I'm not saying there isn't some form of AI that will exist, and will be useful in some meaningful way, and I think that some people may actually be okay with it including artists. But what I am saying is that exponential growth, that fear that I had, has been pretty much squashed.
"Unless there's some other piece of information that comes out that I am not aware of, it is starting to... flatten immensely and it is beginning to become clear ... that it's going to probably be okay... it's probably just [going to] be ... a tool like any other ... wielded by people who are skilled and who have trained in fundamentals in their craft. They will be on the higher echelon of talent that will be aggressively sought after." (Jones, 2024, 11:47 - 13:02).
Jones also mentioned that those new to art using AI lack the fundamental know-hows to adjust their work quickly and effectively, thus training and experience will be necessary when producing work and altering work created by AI.
youtube
Anthony Jones shares his experiences with AI during his YouTube Stream Robotpencil Stream 65 - Let's talk about AI, shall we! (2024).
Anthony Jone's insights gives a lot of comfort to artists still training for industry standards, such as the thought that, according to Jones, there may be some degree of normalcy resuming in recruitment next year. But, in my opinion, may make it harder for artists to support themselves off art, as was once possible, until they reach "the echelon of talent that will be aggressively sought after," which is Jones and his colleagues.
I also appreciate the realism in Jone's prediction of the future implications of AI being here to stay as a tool used by fundamentally trained artists. This is a great piece of advice to not slip behind technological trends by stubbornly burying my head in the sand, nor avoid continuing to develop my fundamental skills; I will aim to approach AI with excellence in myself and use it tactically and ethically.

Anthony Jones AI
I came across an interesting video on AI Art by Anthony Jones (Robotpencil). In the video, Jones talks about his opinion on AI, it's impact on the industry and it's future.
youtube
I thought it would be necessary for me to watch this carefully, because Jones is a well known veteran in the concept art world, and me being one of the many artists fascinated by this uprising technology.
Jones opens by discussing how AI art is emerging and evolving at an extremely fast pace. Predictions made years ago about AI’s influence on art have come true, this gives attention to the rapid development of this technology.
One of the key points Jones makes is about the democratization of art creation through AI tools. These tools allow more people to express themselves artistically, breaking down barriers that previously limited access to art.
Despite the rise of AI, Jones reassures that artists still hold immense value due to their unique skills and creativity. AI should be viewed as another tool in the artist's toolkit, akin to past technological advancements in art. This point I agree with personally too.
It won't fully replace the artist's role but will change how workflows are structured. Artists can leverage AI to enhance their creativity, experimenting with new techniques and ideas.
Jones also addresses the potential for new job opportunities to arise from AI advancements, even as some traditional roles may be displaced. For example, the role of a "prompt engineer" could become more prominent, emphasizing the need for adaptability within the creative industry. This shift suggests that while AI will transform the landscape, it will also create new niches and specialties.
As AI-generated art begins to homogenize styles, Jones stresses the importance of maintaining artistic originality. Artists who develop a unique voice and style will stand out in a sea of AI-generated works. Additionally, fundamental skills in aesthetics and composition remain crucial, even when using AI tools. Understanding these core principles allows artists to use AI effectively while preserving their artistic integrity.
In conclusion, Anthony Jones' video provides a balanced and optimistic view of AI art. He acknowledges the challenges and concerns but also highlights the opportunities for growth and inclusivity. As artists and creators, embracing AI as a tool rather than a threat can lead to exciting new possibilities in the world of art.
I believe his perspective is valuable, as he is such a seasoned artist, and will help me form my own perspective as I progress and create future art, potentially utilising AI in the process.
