i've got a magic au rattling around in my brain for aftg that i haven't started writing yet. mostly bc i have like.... no story. it's just a fun idea with an interesting magic system and magic assignments for the characters

17. talk about your writing and editing process

i'm far more of a pantser than a planner when it comes to writing. i don't like outlines at all. i do technically plan, it's just that my plan is A. very loose and malleable, and B. entirely kept in my brain. if i can't remember a thought by the time i get to where i want to put it in the story, then it wasn't important i also write front to back, which means it's not always chronological. i have no issues writing flashbacks and i don't feel like i need to know everything that happened in the past in order to inform the characters' presents and futures editing takes longer but i have a system. my first go-through is all big things - formatting, organization, coherency, etc. my second pass is then focused on visual appeal - paragraph and sentence length variance, making sure that paragraphs start with different words as often as possible, checking for reused or similar phrases between paragraphs, etc. and then my third and final go-through is nit-picking grammar, punctuation, word choice, and stuff like that

24. how do you recharge when you’re not feeling creative?

i take a break (as long as i need to) and fill my time with resting and working through other unrelated media. i usually also stay away from reading fic during that time as well and try to focus more on things that i haven't seen or read before that might show me an interesting perspective or narration style that makes me want to get back into writing

25. besides writing, what are your other hobbies?

i used to have a lot of other hobbies but now im old and tired and don't have the same amount of energy or free time as i used to kdjfbvjkdbvf i play video games sometimes (i usually go back to genshin once or twice per year, i have wuthering waves that i play every now and then, i just recently got acnh, and sometimes i get into a mobile game called sky: children of the light), i draw very rarely, i take out my nice camera for nature photography even more rarely.....

27. your favorite part of the writing process

editing for sure. i love editing. the words are Already There and now i just need to make them better. that's easy as hell!

With a Love I Seemed to Lose (itafushi) Megumi remembers the first time that his memory slipped.

Hachiōji Castle (itafushi) Itadori and Fushiguro sit side by side in what looks to be a case files room.

Necessary Evil (itafushi) Yuuji raises his scarf a little higher as the winter air bites at his cheeks. 

False Alarm (not published (yet); itafushi) Megumi stands in the back of the clinic, absentmindedly flipping through a file, as the sounds of the vet’s office pierce his ears.

Hot Off the Press (itafushi) Fushiguro Megumi didn’t hate his job.

15 Minutes (itafushi) The first thing that registers is the blaring alarm playing out of a phone’s speaker.

Paint It Black (megumi character study/itafushi) Megumi remembers the first time he felt anger.

skinny dipping (water under the bridge) (itafushi) There are a lot of things in Megumi’s life that leave him a bit bewildered, stunned by the sheer unexpectedness of it all.

How many works do you have on ao3?

i have 36 works (plus a couple of orphaned fics), 32 fics for jjk and 4 for haikyuu! most of my fics are one-shots, but i have a couple of multichapter fics, and there are 2 currently unfinished.

Saving You: my longest ever project and i'm still not over how much attention this one got. it's an itafushi time travel fix it fic, and writing it made me realize how much i like writing angst and hurt comfort!

so much for keeping this just friends: okay so this is a kuroken one-shot, post-time skip, with a smut scene at the end. i'm a bit confused about how it got so popular (my best guess is the timing, as i wrote it after the movie came out) but i'm really grateful.

i'm not too far and you're my favorite place: also a kuroken one-shot, in a 5+1 format. it's also rated explicit. wait, i think i see a pattern here. so maybe it's the porn, huh?

The Truth Is, I Want To Kiss You - itafushi one-shot (and no, this one doesn't have any smut). yuuji is hit by a curse that makes him say every thought that comes into his head, and megumi is forced to deal with the consequences. actually kinda happy with how this one turned out, and i'm glad so many people enjoyed it.

five times megumi's shikigami were affectionate with yuuji, and one time megumi finally was: - another 5+1, a cute, fluffy, megumi pov oneshot. one of the few times when humor was kinda successful, i think.

Do you respond to comments? Why/why not?

i always try to respond to every comment i get. sometimes (like now) i fall behind with comments on my one-shots, but i will eventually catch up! i really appreciate any kind of interaction and feedback from my readers, and it makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside when people leave me a comment.

What’s the fic you’ve written with the angriest ending?

you know, i've been called an angst monster, but one thing about my fics is that they always have a happy ending. i just don't have the heart to write sad endings. that being said, at one point when multiple friends of mine started working on MCD fics, i kinda wanted to try it too. but i just can't bring myself to kill off half of itafushi, so they both had to go. there was resolution, and they were together in death, but they still died. so it was kinda bittersweet.

What’s the fic you’ve written with the happiest ending?

honestly, most of them end quite nicely, and the ones that don't end happily still have a hopeful ending, if that makes sense. but i guess Saving You is the happiest, cause we get a proposal at the end, and a wedding bonus chapter is in the works!

Do you write crossovers?

i don't have any published ones yet, but i fucked around with a naruto/jjk crossover idea and wrote some scenes. i just like the idea of itafushi showing narusasu how to fucking communicate and be honest with each other. and i like the idea of naruto trying to convince yuuji to befriend the murderous monster sealed inside him, cause for him it worked out pretty well, so why can't it work for yuuji? (sukuna is not amused). basically a crackfic, which may or may not see the light of day.

Have you ever received hate on a fic?

yeah, i got some mean comments and some weird asks in my inbox once or twice. i don't understand why people get so angry and aggressive over fics, like, you can just close the tab and move on. especially if it's something that was clearly tagged, and was never intended to appeal to your specific taste. constructive criticism is of course always welcome, and i love interacting with readers, but when someone tells me they don't like a certain part and then follows up by telling me that the whole fic is trash, yeah, not a good vibe. lmao i remember getting a really condescending comment about me getting the timeline wrong and how i didn't even bother to get my facts right. spoiler, i had the manga open while writing and i got the timeline correct, so someone made a fool out of themselves by commenting that. ngl, that was pretty funny.

Do you write smut? If so, what kind?

i like writing smut! but, i find that smut attracts a certain type of audience and i just don't have the patience to deal with the problematic ones. people seem to be very particular about their preferred top/bottom dynamics, and they get real upset when i don't follow their headcanons. so, i'll still keep most of my fics sfw, but if the mood strikes me, i might write a smutty one-shot, or an explicit scene in a multichapter fic. my smut scenes are usually pretty heated, and there's a bit of power play involved. i enjoy writing characters taking charge in a fun, consensual kinda way.

Have you ever had a fic stolen?

actually, i had multiple fics of mine stolen and posted on wattpad under a different account name. i think the thing that pissed me off the most was seeing the author's notes and the "author" replying to some of the comments, like, are you fucking serious, bro. props to the wattpad tho, they took down the account pretty quickly after i reported it.

Have you ever had a fic translated?

nope, but i would probably cry if anyone wanted to do that.

Have you ever co-written a fic before?

also no, but i'd love to!

What’s your all-time favorite ship?

i guess no one is going to get surprised if i say itafushi, right? there's just something about their dynamic that has me in a chokehold and won't let me go. i enjoy reading their characterization in different settings, and there are so many ways you can explore their relationship. i also love satosugu, narusasu, kuroken, bokuaka, kagehina and iwaoi, so there's no shortage of fics for me to read.

What’s a WIP that you want to finish but don’t think you ever will?

i have a half-abandoned fic about post-canon megumi going through several stages of spiraling out of control, hearing voices, seeing visions and generally losing it. he's basically having a psychotic break, and it's really dark. i've never written angst to this extent before, and it's hard. i'd love to finish it, but it's a challenge, because i can't quite grasp the tone i want to set for it. might be worth revisiting some time later.

What are your writing strengths?

i love writing dialogue, and i like using it to convey character's personalities and relationships. my fics usually have a lot of banter between characters, and it's usually a lot of fun. i get told i'm good at writing angst, which makes me proud. also, if someone says i'm funny, then i consider that a personal achievement.

What are your writing weaknesses?

as i said, i love writing dialogue. well, it's not a weakness, per se, but my fics often turn out dialogue-heavy, and sometimes i need to balance that out. it's a learning process. my prose is a little bit flat, i don't usually add much detail to descriptions, so there's a lot of room for improvement in that department. it's mostly due to my impatience and desire to move the plot along, but whenever i read beautiful descriptive prose, it makes me wanna work harder.

What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic?

if the situation calls for it, and the characters can have a conversation in another language, why not? i watch anime with subs, so honorifics sound natural and don't distract me, but when i use them myself, i like to keep them canon-compliant and not overdo it. some "iconic" japanese phrases do lose their charm when translated (choso hung up on the onii-chan thing is a good example), so in those cases, i'm good with just using the original version. it's a personal preference.

What’s a fandom/ship you haven’t written for yet but want to?

i'm late to the whole anime party, so i'm still catching up with everything. i managed to finish naruto recently, and i read a bunch of sasunaru fics, and honestly, i would love to try and write something for them. they have a rougher, more aggressive dynamic, certainly more toxic than itafushi, and i'd love to play around with that.

i have 4 haikyuu fics published, but i don't have anything written for kagehina yet, so that's next on the list.

What’s your favorite fic you’ve written?

i had to think about this for a while, cause all of my fics are special to me in their own way. i guess i will always lean towards my angsty ones, cause, i love it when a description of pain gets the reader's emotions all stirred up, and i have a knack for making people cry, apparently. so, i'd say the world is cruel but i still love you (along with the farmfic that follows it up called let's take this mess and make a home)

but i'm kinda happy with my latest angsty one-shot, blessed with a curse, too.

Probably i guess this is the end. It takes place during jjk 0 from Gojo’s pov when he murks his bf and it’s basically just angst without happy ending.

The vast majority of my fics have happy endings, but I’d say it’s probably my Christmas bkak fic kiss me once, then kiss me twice, then kiss me once again simply because there’s basically no angst whereas my other fics all have some kind of angst in them somewhere.

I don’t, but that’s just a preference of mine.

I’ve been very lucky to have received only kindness! The worst thing I’ve read on one of my fics was that the angst was resolved too quickly but they still enjoyed it lol.

Probably kyoru from Fruits Basket. They mean everything to me.

I have an old bokuaka draft of them having a contentious meet cute at a corner store that I’d love to get back to one day, but I don’t really have much content in mind for it so idk if that will ever happen.

What are your writing strengths?

Characterization and dialogue, I’d say! I’ve been told I’m really good at staying consistent with characterization and that my dialogue sounds natural and flows really well.

What are your writing weaknesses?

I overexplain or overstate things. I try to really make sure some things are clear and in doing that I dumb down my writing :P fortunately my wonderful beta reader helps to keep me aware of that!

What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in a fic?

Yeah sure why not? I’m only fluent in English, but I don’t mind when another language is used, Google exists for a reason and typically the author will give the translation in the notes.

What’s a fandom/ship you haven’t written for yet but want to?

ARCANE. I DESPERATELY WANT TO WRITE AN ARCANE JAYVIK FIC. I have two ideas in mind: a deeper, more emotional and soft fic before s2 when they’re just partners and another one where they fuck in front of the Hexgate in s2 lol.

What’s your favorite fic you’ve written?

A real sophie’s choice. It’s a battle between my iwaoi fic you’ll always know me which I hold extremely close to my heart but I cringe at many of the decisions I made looking back (still love it though) and my jjk post canon fic things i would miss from the other side. I think the latter one is some of my best writing!

(hard) rock or (light) metal. i don't like the screaming often found in heavy metal but i do like the guitar and drums of heavy metal so i try to find a balance between the metal instruments but the rock vocals. with moderate success

ironically i called it an adventure in the text i sent so i'll count it: i had to trudge across town (technically it was a different town and over state lines but most locals consider it the same town) to get my stuff out of my work van because it Died Died and i have to start driving a different one. i asked my friend if he would come with me and he did, so we also stopped at a couple stores they have down there and got some ice cream for the drive home despite the below zero temps

Hi! I have some questions about your jjkxatla au that you're doing ( which is literally like THE COOLEST thing ever I'm so excited to read it when it comes out you guys are so creative :D)

Will each book for each element be one chapter in the fic? Or will each book be multiple chapters and uploaded as separate parts on ao3? And if it's the latter, will you upload book one before you finish the other four books. I hope this makes sense (and apologies if you've addressed this before lmaooo)

Also!! Who would you say is your favorite character to write dialogue/interactions/fight scenes so far in the fic?? All of the characters designs and lore bits are super interesting to me so I'm curious as to who's your fave from a writer standpoint haha.

oh!!! okay ! explaining it with words might get confusing, so i'll use a bullet list to explain the general like... sections and stuff

it's all going to be uploaded as one fic, and i'll just label in-fic where each of the parts begins and ends (they are like the books in atla, and are named after elements, but i'm just calling them parts instead to not be a direct rip from atla KJBSDVKJBSDV)

the intent right now is to finish the first draft of part 1 (which i'm estimating will be about..... 10 chapters? maybe 9 if i'm lucky, but watch it be 11-12), and then go back and edit it before i start uploading!! there isn't going to be an update schedule because i don't want to like... catch up to wherever i currently am too quickly and (biggest reason) i don't want to put pressure on myself or on hina to finish things in a certain timeframe. there will likely be a break between part 1 and part 2 (and so on) for similar reasons (this is going to be.... a really long fic. right now it's looking like it'll be 90k+ just for part 1, and the last thing i want is to get burned out halfway through, so i'm pacing myself on purpose)

AH my favorite character to write for is megumi 100%. yuuji is the avatar, but i think with the way hina and i structured the general plot, megumi is the main character. it's split pov between the two of them, but megumi has a bit more screen time because i just find him easier to write KJDVBDJVK
