Angeki Gokuto Jihen Stageplay Summary
Tumblr media
As I promised, below I will give a summary of the “Dark Theater” Gokuto Jihen Stageplay (Title Pending)! The plot is more heavily based on the manga, as Kirika, Ayako, and Saitou make their appearances here. OH. Did I mention it has singing? Because I didn’t know it had singing until they did their first number! Oh boy, did I not know it was going to go into a musical number! Also, the way the stage is set up is that it’s actually in the middle of the audience, so there’s a 180 view of the stage! It’s just a cool thing I saw. If you all enjoy this summary, I’ll create a subtitle file that you can download.
Spoilers below (of course) so proceed with caution!
The show starts on a dark stage, where similar to the beginning of the game, some people talk about a ghost (a female ghost) that hides at the school. The stage lights come on, and Kinoshita greets Maki for the first time this evening. Kinoshita expresses that Maki is a deceased one, when suddenly the lights go out again. Maki then gives a monologue of her feeling sad, lonely, ugly, powerless, etc. and how in the end it didn’t mean anything, no matter what she did.
The scene changes as a song begins- it’s the song introducing the underworld escorts. Onstage, Kirishima appears, taking down a ghost. He slashes at the ghost, who cries out and saying he doesn’t deserve this and asks for Kirishima to stop. However, it’s clearly an act, as the ghost goes to attack Kirishima again. A quick slash is all Kirishima needs to take him down, stating that those who commit crimes must be punished. The song continues, speaking of the Gokusotsu who come delivering punishment.
The stage lights up in an eerie red, and all the escorts can be seen on stage, repeating after Rokkaku: “Deliver Punishiment”. Confetti erupts the stage and, suddenly, it’s a real musical that includes the escorts dancing while tackling ghosts. They sing about punishing ghosts and about what the Underworld is (and Kirika and Ayako are there too). Maki is then seen running between the escorts as they sing. They perform a number together with a lot of flashing red lights as the lyrics speaks of the punishments delivered to the deceased ones.
The scene changes with a blue light as everyone clears away, leaving just Kirishima. Kirika greets Kirishima as he returns home, expressing that he’s been working very hard. She offers to make him food while Ayako asks if Kirika is ready to go home. Kirika states that she’ll just stay a little longer to make Kirishima some food and asks Ayako to wait for her (Kirika’s movements resemble that of a snake slithering, it’s very impressive to watch). Ayako bows to Kirishima, only for her second mouth to complain that Kirishima is causing the two house workers trouble (to do this, the actress swept her hair open and a mouth with a long tongue popped out).
Kirika then returns, stating that Rokkaku was calling for Kirishima. Kirishima hurries to Rokkaku’s office as some dancers in red come onto the stage. They sing about the world ruled by the Court of Enma as Rokkaku and Saitou also take the stage. The two explain the “Other World”, and it’s capital, Gokuto, which resembles Tokyo but for yokai and ghosts. They also mention that they, the oni, make this place their home. Saitou adds that those who slip through the cracks have to be careful when exploring the capital.
They next talk about their Special Branch - the Gokusotsu. The escorts then join the stage as Rokkaku announces that they are the Special Branch of the Court of Enma, tasked with missions. The singers then introduce Rokkaku: the captain of the branch and a serious man. Saitou is introduced next - as the mysterious number 2 who likes shopping (at this point, I was in tears because I never would have expected them to just sing the character bios word for word). They go through each of the escorts next, each saying one line (if you want to know what they say, it’s just their in game dialogue when you speak to them in the bonus room). Kirishima, an honor student escort, Saeki, Kirishima’s long time friend, Tanizaki, Kirishima’s rival, Tagami, a lazy escort, Hirahara, a kind of dangerous guy, and Kinoshita, a reliable guy.
The escorts then do their performance before walking off, leaving just Rokkaku and Kirishima to discuss the mission. Kinoshita’s been missing for a while, and it’s a real problem. They explain the oni’s immortality, but also state that it’s a problem to leave him in trouble (if he is in trouble, that is). They send Kirishima off right away to assist with the mission, and the dance finishes with everyone leaving the stage.
The lights come back on, as Kirishima heads off to his mission. He’s stopped by Saeki, who offers his help if Kirishima needs anything (since it’s his day off). He adds “Be careful, Kirishima,” as Kirishima leaves. Kirika suddenly appears, asking where Kirishima ran off to. Saeki explains that he went on a mission, to which Kirika jokes that they always seem so busy. “It’s work,” Saeki replies. “Don’t push yourselves too much,” Kirika lightly scolds. Saeki then catches Tanizaki, and asks him to please turn in his report.
Tanizaki asks if Saeki has seen Kirishima, to which Saeki asks if it’s for training. They talk, for a moment, about their score - how Tanizaki won yesterday, but Kirishima beat him today. Unfortunately, Saeki just saw Kirishima off on his mission. Not one to be disappointed, Tanizaki challenges Saeki instead. Saeki expresses that he is busy with the reports. “I only need 30 minutes,” Tanizaki states. “Then we’ll have to finish it in 10,” Saeki responds. The two then engage in a fight, disappearing off stage. Tanizaki also blocks a bullet behind his back in the most flexing move I’ve ever seen someone with a club do, so, you know, all the more power to him.
The scene changes - we now get Rokkaku and Saitou talking together. Saitou questions Rokkaku’s decision to send Kirishima, also expressing his doubts in Kinoshita. Rokkaku adds that Kirishima isn’t alone, Hirahara and Tagami are there for support. Rokkaku also states his reasonings - Kirishima isn’t someone who can be swayed by the enemy. Also, Kinoshita initially should have been enough for the mission, but as he never reported back, it could only mean one thing: the enemy got him. Saitou accepts this as the answer, and due to some unfortunate lighting, I am unable to tell what kind of expression either of them were making.
Lightning flashes - it’s now time for the yokai of the school to do their dance number. The monster with many eyes, the skeleton, the anatomy dummy, the monster that collected things, Hanako-san, and even the black bouncing ball appear and introduce themselves as the ghosts of the school. They list the places they reside - the music room, the science room, the toilet, etc. (It was at this point I broke down completely because the black bouncing ball was just a balloon on a stick being waved by the dancers in red. God bless this team, they were doing their best, and it shows.)
Kirishima arrives at the school, to an empty stage. He hears some glass shattering, seeing Tagami. He explains that he came here earlier, but didn’t want to be here or work today. “What was that sound earlier?” Kirishima asks. “Probably Hirahara,” Tagami groans. Tagami reveals that he and Hirahara were sent here before Kirishima to act as support. However, he’s frustrated that Hirahara took his pickaxe. It’s bothersome, of course.
The scene changes to Hirahara chasing after the bouncing ball yokai, unable to actually hit him with his shovel. It hits him instead, and knocks Hirahara out. Kirishima finds him sleeping in a chair. Kirishima attempts to wake him with calls before just out right backhanding him across the face. Hirahara wakes up and doesn’t at all seem upset that he was just rudely awoken, even exclaiming in excitement at seeing Kirishima. “I saw something, and I was chasing it!” But Hirahara didn’t remember at all falling asleep.
Of course, he is immediately distracted upon seeing the ball again and asks for Kirishima to assist. “Do I have to?” Kirishima asks. “Well, aren’t you interested in it?” Kirishima, however, is more interested in the return of Tagami’s pickaxe. Hirahara, however, can’t do that, since he lost it. “Oh, this guy took it.” Hirahara accuses the black ball. Kirishima sees no choice but to help with catching the black ball - which at this point has become a bunch of balls. An epic fight scene ensues, to which Kirishima finally catches the ball and slices it right in half. It pops, revealing the pickaxe.
Hirahara, in excitement, thanks Kirishima before Tagami comes on stage. Hirahara then throws the pickaxe to Tagami, thanking him and apologizing. Tagami, in Tagami fashion, punches Hirahara, who’s head practically goes sideways from the force. Hirahara and Tagami walk off stage in search of something.
Kirishima happens, then, to find a piece of Maki’s necklace, picking it up. It sends pain to his head, and he thinks he’s having some kind of flashback. It’s people talking about Maki - something’s wrong with her even if she has a nice face. Maki’s voice is heard, asking what she did wrong to deserve this kind of bullying. Kirishima wonders out loud what it was he just experienced, deciding to pocket the necklace. The stage goes dark as he leaves.
Maki appears on stage with floating flames. She doesn’t understand why these things are happening to her. She tried her best, but it was all for nothing. In the end, she was just useless. There was only darkness around her. She was always alone. She keeps hearing voices telling her to die. There’s no escape from this feeling. She begins to cry at a desk while Kinoshita comes to her. He promises that he won’t hurt her, although Maki doesn’t believe him and tells him to go away. She refuses to go with him, trying to get away from Kinoshita.
“I haven’t done anything,” she exclaims. So why is she being chased like this? “Please give up,” Kinoshita asks. “Shut up,” Maki replies, chanting for everyone to shut up. She throws Kinoshita down and tells him not to look at her, ripping out his eyes and hitting his head against a desk. It’s pretty graphic. She screams and attacks Kinoshita with the desks and chairs around the room, telling everyone to die. She tries to leave, but sees that Kinoshita is still alive. She slowly walks back to him as the lights dim.
We cut back to Saeki and Tanizaki, who are still engaged in a battle. Saeki, also, has two large guns of which he definitely wasn’t holding before. Scary. Saeki asks if it’s time for Tanizaki to give up, but Tanizaki doesn’t give in. They go for one final attack before Rokkaku suddenly appears and catches both their weapons. It’s time for them to be dispatched too. They need to help Kirishima with their mission. Saitou asks for them to handle the situation with the yokai starting to surround the building. That’s what happens when miasma builds up for too long. They immediately agree and set off.
Saitou and Rokkaku then talk about this mission. Saitou, again, questions if Rokkaku is commanding the escorts correctly, to which Rokkaku states that he’s made the best decision. Saitou is left alone, standing on stage. He sasses Rokkaku a bit before leaving himself.
The scene changes back to Hirahara, Tagami, and Kirishima. Hirahara complains about not being able to find anything and wants to take a break. He asks Tagami if he brought anything to eat, which Tagami replies, of course not. Kirishima asks if Tagami has seen anything around here suspicious, but Tagami explains that he was sleeping. It’s then that Kirishima finds another piece of the necklace, connecting the dots.
His mind is suddenly flooded with flashbacks to Maki being accused of stealing. Maki promises that it wasn’t her fault, but no one would believe her. She starts to wonder if she’s the strange one. Kirishima is brought back to reality when Hirahara asks if Kirishima has anything to eat. He doesn’t either. They discuss what they should do next, when they hear a strange voice. It’s the skeleton, the master of the science room. He offers them help by answering their questions about the ghosts around the school. (Hirahara does this really cute thing where he puts the skeleton’s hands in Kirishima so it looks like they’re either about to start dancing or play London Bridge is Falling Down.)
They search for the ghosts the skeleton mentions, splitting off from one another. The skeleton warns about a rather “rambunctious” lad that’s running around, and asks that the escorts be careful. The anatomy dummy suddenly shows up with a knife right then, trying to attack Hirahara. He and Kirishima engage in a fight with the anatomy dummy, accidentally destroying the skeleton in the process. “Goodness,” says the skeleton. “Today is getting really lively.” They all exit the stage then.
The stage cuts to Tanizaki, who scolds Saeki for being late. Ayako chases after them, giving Kirika’s bento to Saeki. She states that Kirishima hadn’t eaten anything before he headed out, so she was worried for him. She wanted them to all share the food. As she runs off, her second mouth scolds the escorts again, talking about how they always caused Kirika and Ayako trouble. They better not cause more when they come back, the mouth says in a tsundere way of saying “be careful”. Saeki thanks Ayako, and the two head off. “Good luck, work hard,” Ayako adds.
The scene changes back to Maki. She’s being lectured by a senpai from work. Her senpai accuses her of being stupid and not hard working before leaving. Maki apologizes to an empty room as she walks away, dropping her necklace piece for Kirishima to pick up. Kirishima then enters, picking it up and hearing Maki’s voice. Everyone says that she’s weird, so she’s always alone. The flashback ends.
While searching in the bathroom, Hanako appears before Hirahara and Kirishima. She asks who these two are, and Kirishima introduces them as the gokusotsu. She offers the location of the ghost they’re looking for, but she’s on the third floor, which can’t be accessed because of another spirit. Kirishima explains the mission again and asks Hanako to please assist. Hanako asks the two to find her ribbon, and maybe she’ll help. It’s definitely in this school, after all, so please find it soon, she asks before disappearing.
The two barely leave the bathroom before the anatomy dummy finds them, and the three start fighting again. “You again!” Hirahara exclaims. They do this really cool move where they stab their sword and shovel into him, leave it, grab some desks, and then pull their weapons out, trapping the anatomy dummy. They then run off, Hirahara saying that he’s hungry.
A;one again, the anatomy dummy breaks free and runs off. For a moment, Tagami walks passed on stage, before it goes back to Tanizaki and Saeki. Tanizaki complains that they haven’t gotten anywhere after having walked down the same hall twice. Saeki wonders if someone is trying to trap them. It is then that they find Tagami, asleep. They suddenly feel a presence behind them, and turn their attention to finding who it is. Saeki tries asking nicely if the person needs anything, while Tagami complains that the two are being so loud.
The lights suddenly go out, and only a pair of legs can be seen running around in the darkness. “There it is,” Saeki points out, only for the legs to disappear. it’s replaced by floating eyes, asking the riddle from the game: who ate the cake, and who’s the liar? Each eye introduces themselves and make their statements. Saeki understands this game, and works to try and figure it out. Tanizaki is simply frustrated, while Tagami already has the answer. He explains his work, pointing out the liar as Toshio. The eyes praise their cleverness and release them from the trap.
Saeki thanks Tagami for his hard work, but Tagami chooses that the only thanks he needs is to go back to sleep. They hear a loud crash, meeting up with Hirahara. Hirahara attempts to chase Saeki down for the bento, followed by Kirishima, who is still fighting the anatomy dummy. Tanizaki steps in to help, and Saeki throws the bento as a distraction. It manages to distract Hirahara, who’s very excited for the food. The four begin the battle with the anatomy dummy, Saeki being a good boy and trying to reason with him to no avail. In the end, the anatomy dummy simply runs away.
Finally getting a break, they relax, meeting a black bob monster that Saeki calls “cute”. They find out that he seems very interested in the dropped food. “Are you hungry?” Hirahara asks. Saeki offers the blob an apple. Hirahara wishes that he had an apple too, asking if the blob would be tasty. The blob runs off, being chased by Hirahara. They manage to find the ribbon that Hanako-san asked them to find in the process.
Kirishima returns it to Hanako with the others in tow. Hanako thanks the kind people and allows them to go to the third floor. She hopes they quickly remove the deceased one soon. Kirishima stops her before she leaves - have you seen someone else who looks like us? Hanako nods, and points outside. “You better hurry and do your jobs.” Lightning flashes, and the escorts are now aware that the building is surrounded by yokai. Tanizaki lifts Tagami over his shoulder and states that the two will stop those yokai, and the others should hurry to the third floor. Tagami complains that he doesn’t want to do it, but just get tossed in the direction they needed to go anyways.
The scene changes to Kinoshita, now without his eyes. He can’t see, which is really problematic. An eerie song begins, expressing how lost he must be feeling right now. Kinoshita wanders around slowly, unsure where he should be going but following the sounds that he hears. He’s certain he hears someone, but he’s unable to see the dancing ghosts around him. They pretty much mess with him throughout the duration of their song, finally pushing him down a hole. Kinoshita then has a solo song where he talks to the ghosts and asks them not to bully him. It’s useless, though, as the anatomy dummy suddenly shows up and beats Kinoshita up more.
“Now’s not the time for playing around,” Kinoshita warns in his song. Still, the anatomy dummy simply is having too much fun bullying Kinoshita. It’s his mistake, though, as even a visionless Kinoshita is a very strong fighter. It scares the anatomy dummy off. “It really is troublesome without my eyes,” Kinoshita sighs as he wanders off.
Maki now is seen running across the screen, asking why things have turned out like this for her. A man shows up behind her, and while she tries to leave, he harasses her. Even though she pushes him away, the rumors begin to spread: They saw Maki with that man, so she must have seduced him. She cries that it wasn’t her, and that she didn’t do anything, but no one believes her. Maki wonders out loud why it turns out like this for her. She is then shown dying, carried off by the ghosts on the stage. “Oh that’s right,” Maki says. “This is how I-”
The lights suddenly go out, and when they come back on, Kirishima arrives. He states that he’s finally found the deceased one. Maki states that her name is Maki. Saeki then appears, asking her to quietly go with them. Maki refuses, asking why. “You need to be judged by Enma,” Kirishima explains. Maki, feeling threatened, refuses to go with them. She’s never done anything wrong, and yet all this blame came to her. She tells them not to look at her, and causes the equipment in the room to float around. Kirishima and Saeki try to fight them off to make it to Maki, who is having her solo now. She sounds very distraught, I feel really sorry for her in this moment. Notably, a mirror flies passed them during the fight.
Maki is suddenly interrupted by someone calling out for her. It startles her enough to send her running again. Saeki notices the necklace that’s dropped, and Kirishima picks it up, having another one of those flashbacks. This time, it’s of Maki’s mother scolding her. Her mother calls her trash while Maki wonders why she was even born. Saeki quickly checks to see if Kirishima is alright, to which he replies that he is, and offers the piece of the necklace to Saeki. Saeki manages to put them together, saying that it must belong to Maki. They hurry after her, passing the remaining mirror. While the escorts run off stage, the mirror lights up into the silhouette of Kirishima. It is then carried off stage in the darkness.
The scene changes back to the manor, where Kirika and Saitou are talking. They thank each other for their hard work, and Saitou puts in a food request (while totally butchering the name). Kirika mentions how it’s rare for him to ask her to make something, and Saitou explains that it’s not for him, it’s for Kinoshita when he comes back. He must be very tired. “Wait, Kinoshita isn’t back yet?” Kirika asks in concern. Saitou reassures her that he’ll be fine, the other escorts have been sent after him. And they should be fine, too. So it’s best to make them tasty food for when they return. Kirika gets to work right away.
As she leaves, Rokkaku arrives. They suddenly completely break into an unrelated conversation about how the Angeki will be released on DVD. This is done by Saitou first breaking into song, and then the two do a tsukkomi gag. Saitou talks about wanting to let his singing voice be heard, and Rokkaku interrupts him. “What’s our job again?” Rokkaku asks, reiterating their duty.
Despite saying this, the two start dueting. (I had, once again, broken down in this moment because this is such perfect fanfiction material that I’m shook it wasn’t a UCI Fanfic request.) The rest of their gag is Saitou listing the various things that Gokuto Jihen is - a game, a mobile app, an anime (an ANIME???) a manga... wait, what even are the character’s voices again? Rokkaku has to cut him off again. “It’s time for the audition.” (WHAT AUDITION???) Rokkaku once again asks what the duty of the gokusotsu is.
The two discuss the deceased one, although Saitou continues to pull visual gags that continue to convince me these two do manzai in their spare time. Saitou then breaks into song again and pulls Rokkaku into it too. The two, once again, duet until Rokkaku mentions that he saw Saitou talking with Kirika earlier, and now he even got out Kinoshita’s favorite alcohol. Saitou explains that it’s just for preparation on his return. His return to do his character voice audition BA DAM CHHHHH. As the lights dim, Saitou speaks to the darkness. “I wonder if those kids will succeed.”
The scene changes back to Tanizaki and Tagami. Tanizaki scolds Tagami for sleeping, saying they have a duty. The two begin fighting the yokai that have gathered, Tagami using his chains because he lost his pickax. They fight off stage, and the mirror is suddenly brought in again. Saeki and Kirishima walk past it, stating that they’ve lost the deceased one. Hirahara suddenly appears, attacking Kirishima and saying that he started it. Kirishima has no idea what Hirahara is talking about, though. Kirishima accuses Hirahara of dreaming that he was attacked, but Hirahara insists that he was awake and that it was Kirishima who attacked him.
“But Kirishima doesn’t lie,” Hirahara decided, so maybe something fishy was going on. Could it be that Hirahara found something interesting? Saeki asks Hirahara to explain what happened, to which Hirahara explains that Kirishima attacked him, only maybe Kirishima wasn’t Kirishima. So then maybe that Kirishima wasn’t the real Kirishima. And Kirishima isn’t Kirishima-
“Wait. Who are you again?”
“Kirishima.”
“And who are you again?”
"Saeki.”
“Right. And who am I?” You’re Hirahara, Saeki and Kirishima both confirm. Hirahara repeats it back to himself, pointing to everyone. Hirahara just doesn’t understand what’s going on, so he walks in a circle trying to figure it out. This gag goes on for quite some time before actual Mirror Kirishima shows up. They begin to fight, learning that the mirror didn’t talk. In the midst of their fight, the mirror floats around, suddenly trapping the escorts in the mirror world.
They are told by the spirits there to be careful, and that they were captured by the mirror. In the mirror world, they should be able to find “him” and defeat “him” (you know, since they’re escorts and all). But if they can’t beat “him”, then they’ll be trapped forever too. The “him” they are referring to must be the Mirror Kirishima. The ghosts depart, leaving a puzzle for the escorts to solve written on the wall.
“It’s dark,” Hirahara exclaims, to which Saeki offers to light a candle. In doing so, they hear some kind of lock clicking, and realize that they must light all the candles in the area. Kirishima and Hirahara get right on that, and Saeki picks up a book to place down in order to solve the puzzle. There’s a moment where Hirahara tries to read the book, but can’t, and Saeki expresses that it’s fine to not be able to read it, the important part was to just put it down. Once they solve the puzzle, the room begins to chance again.
Mirror Kirishima shows up, and he and Kirishima engage in battle. (Off to the side, Saeki pulls Hirahara away and asks “which Kirishima do you think will win? Hirahara answers “Me.”) The two are evenly matched, and their fight continues in the dark with only minor flashes of light showing some of their movements. At the sound of glass shattering, Mirror Kirishima is seen turning back into the mirror and falling on the ground. The ghosts praise the escorts for freeing them and escape with the escorts.
Of course, upon arriving back at the school, it’s completely dark, and no one can see anything. Kirishima hears Tagami ask if he wants something, and when he replies, Tagami’s face is lit up by a lantern. “I’ll give you something good,” he tells Kirishima and hands him the lantern. Saeki points out that Tagami is okay, and Tagami explains that Tanizaki took care of most of the yokai. Hirahara tells him not to slack, to which Tagami, the teapot, calls the kettle black and walks off to help Tanizaki again. Hirahara decides he too will go, leaving Saeki and Kirishima to progress.
The scene changes with a song sung by the ghosts. Kirishima once again finds a piece of the necklace dropped by Maki. In it, a young Maki apologizes to her mother who is yelling at her, telling her not to be born. Maki continues to apologize, and the flashback ends to the real Maki, huddled in a corner. “How long do you plan on running?” Kirishima asks upon seeing her. She asks why Kirishima is still after her, and Kirishima explains that it’s his job, and she’s committed crimes. Maki refuses to be captured, though.
Another song breaks out, in which Maki expresses that she’s the one who’s always hurt. She monologues about the deeds that she’s done, including having the man from work killed, the women who bad mouthed her killed, and even her high school bullies. Kirishima expresses that all those things are punishable, but Maki states that they deserve it for causing her so much misery. “If you’re saying that they weren’t in the wrong, then I’m also not in the wrong.” A very interesting dance happens where Maki is wrapped in the red dancer’s cloth to the tune of kagome kagome.
Maki breaks down saying that she did nothing wrong, suddenly standing up. She wishes that everyone would die, starting to laugh. She hides behind the red dancers, and Kirishima and Saeki are unable to get to her through the chaos. During the fight, Kirishima picks up yet another piece of the necklace, and this time, a girl’s voice calls out for Maki. “Yuu-chan?” She asks. A flashback occurs where Maki and Yuuko talk about what they want to be when they grow up. They both want to own a cake store and promise to be together forever.
At the end of the flashback, Maki suddenly remembers Yuuko, and Kirishima tries to ask her who that is. Maki, however, runs off, asking to be left alone. The stage is suddenly empty of everyone except Saeki and Kirishima. Kirishima presents the blue stone he just picked up to Saeki. They are interrupted when they hear someone calling for Kirishima in a raspy voice. From out of a wall, Kinoshita bursts out. He waves and tries to walk off, but Kirishima guides him back to Saeki. He then very rudely throws Kinoshita on the floor and asks what he’s doing.
“Oh, it really is Kirishima,” Kinoshita sighs in relief. It’s too much trouble for him to move around without eyes. The deceased one ripped them out and threw them away. Otherwise, he would have been able to do his mission. Kinoshita asks if the two have seen his eyes, and when both Saeki and Kirishima answer no, he decides to walk off and find them himself. They stop him, telling him to just stay still and they’ll help find the eyes.
They are interrupted by a voice telling them to “play it, play it.” A piano appears, and Saeki expresses that he is able to play it. He’s been practicing, after all, thanks to Saitou. He sits down to play the song from the game - Elegy. Applause erupts, praising Saeki. Kinoshita also praises Saeki, telling a nearby tree that it did a really good job. “I’m over here,” Saeki answers. And, it’s all thanks to Saitou anyways. The three feel a breeze, and realize that the deceased one must have gone to the roof. Kinoshita won’t be able to do anything, so Kirishima asks him to stay.
Before he heads up, Saeki asks if Kirishima has those pieces from earlier. Saeki manages to attach the blue stone, and shows off the whole necklace (while Kinoshita is in the background trying to find his eyes). Saeki explains that Maki was crying earlier, so there must have been a reason she kept saying that she didn’t do anything wrong. Maybe Kirishima could talk to her?
Before they get a chance to really discuss it, though, the eyeball monster shows up. Saeki stays behind to deal with it so Kirishima can complete the mission. Kinoshita also promises to help, leaving it up to Kirishima to stop Maki. Kinoshita and Saeki fight the eyeball monster to song. It’s... really epic to watch. During the fight, Saeki notices the green eyes in the monster and realizes that they are Kinoshita’s. The monster refuses to give them to Kinoshita, though, because green eyes are pretty. So Kinoshita just rips them right out of the monster with a “sorry about this”. Once he puts them back in, Kinoshita is feeling much better and tells a pun about finally being able to see. The two hurry off after that.
The scene changes to Tanizaki, fighting off the yokai outside. He has a solo himself about his job and duty. They sing a lot about that. Tagami then shows up with his pickaxe and joins the song, although he finds all of this really troublesome. Hirahara then enters by throwing his shovel for Tagami to catch, then joins the frey and gets his shovel back while conducting the most impressive rap verse. The three continue sing battling the yokai, defeating them all.
The stage is now empty, and a voice in Maki’s flashback says that although she’s cute, she’s not right in the head. She’s a liar. She’s weird. She isn’t right. Maki goes into a solo about what is “right” and how she doesn’t understand what she’s supposed to do to be accepted. She then monologues to Kirishima - her happy family of three was doing just fine until her father abandoned her mother. That’s when everything changed, and her mother began to hate her. Maki states that she doesn’t want to see or hear anything anymore. So she’ll just have to get rid of Kirishima.
Maki and Kirishima then engage in a battle, dueting with each other as they fight. Explosions of confetti go off as they impact with each other. The two mirror each other’s movements through most of the singing portion of the battle. The song breaks with Maki screaming that she hasn’t done anything wrong. Kirishima expresses that he’s a gokusotsu, so it’s not like he can empathize with her. However, he does know that Maki has suffered a lot. But it’s no reason for her to commit crimes. If she understood, then she wouldn’t be in this much trouble.
Maki exclaims that she really just doesn’t understand and goes in for the final attack. However, Kirishima holds out the necklace before Maki strikes him. She freezes immediately, recognizing her precious necklace. She’s shocked that Kirishima found it. She has a flashback to getting the necklace as a gift from her friend, Yuuko. She promises to treasure it before the flashback ends. A now weakened Maki stumbles towards the necklace and drops to her knees. Kirishima asks if this is a precious item to her, and Maki explains that it’s from her friend Yuuko, who always supported her. She was happy when Yuuko was around.
Yuuko then appears on the stage, asking if Maki’s alright. She asks if there’s anything wrong, to which Maki says that there isn’t. “Are you sure?” “I’m sure.” Yuuko tells Maki that if anything is going wrong, she should tell Yuuko. Maki expresses that high school was hard for her, but with Yuuko by her side, she felt like she could do anything. She was greatful for Yuuko always encouraging her. “I’m fine, so please don’t leave me.” The scene goes black.
A phone suddenly rings. “Hello? Maki?”
“Why are you calling me so late?”
“Well, you see. The thing is. I’m sorry.”
“What’s wrong? Tell me.”
“The thing is. I died.”
The stage is lit up again with Maki and Kirishima. Maki starts explaining how she was always bullied, so she wanted revenge. Kirishima expresses that even with the revenge, Maki wasn’t happy. Maki agreed that it was hard for her, and she was hurting inside. Why was she hurting? Why was she alone? She didn’t want to be alone anymore. Kirishima finally speaks up. He asks if she really was always alone. He returns the necklace. It’s her most important thing, after all. When Kirishima places the necklace around Maki’s neck, he turns to see a ghost of Yuuko, saying that she’ll always be her friend. Because they’re friends, she’ll always support Maki. So make sure to smile! (I’m not crying, you’re crying. Someone’s cutting onions.)
Maki realizes her mistakes, and as she does, the school begins to change as well. She apologizes to Yuuko, clutching the necklace. She apologizes for forgetting Yuuko, and expresses that she was so happy that Yuuko was born. Maki expresses feeling the pain of losing Yuuko, and sadness that they weren’t able to stay together for long. Kirishima puts a hand on Maki’s shoulder, in an attempt to comfort her. With that, Maki is prepared for her punishment, and promises to go with Kirishma. She betrayed Yuuko’s expectations, so she’ll recieve her punishment. But it’s strange, she says, that her heart feels so light. Kirishima expresses that this is Maki taking her first step to a new beginning. Maki agrees, and the stage goes black.
When the stage is lit up again, Hanako-san is speaking with the skeleton. They are glad it’s all wrapped up now, the incident. As they speak, the other monsters join them. The skeleton asks if that human will be okay, and Hanako expresses not knowing. But, she’s surely learned her lesson. Hanako then greets the anatomy dummy and asks if he’s feeling better. It appears that all the monsters living in the school are now at ease thanks to the miasma clearing. They exit the stage, laughing.
The scene then shifts to Kirishima giving his report to Rokkaku. The mission went well, it seems. Kirishima expresses that it was thanks to everyone’s help, after all. Rokkaku praises Kirishima before walking off. Kirishima stops him for a moment, asking what will happen to the deceased one. Rokkaku answers that she will be punished for the crimes she committed. However, since she repented, she will likely be reincarnated once her punishment is completed. This seems to make Kirishima more upbeat, and he leaves the stage.
The stage then darkens, and Maki’s voice can be heard. “Hey, Yuu-chan.”
“What is it, Maki-chan?”
“I wasn’t able to smile this time, but maybe next time...”
The stage is lit up to Maki hugging Yuuko, saying that she hopes they’ll be friends again.
The stageplay ends here, and everyone does their curtain call bow. They thank everyone for coming out to see the show and do one final song with everyone on stage. It’s the song about the Underworld and Gokuto that they did at the beginning.

Is there any crossovers or fics that any of the admins have been wanting to write but haven't because no one has requested it yet. If so by all means use this ask to write whatever fic or crossover that any of the admins have been dying to write :D
A crossover I’ve always wanted to write but had no reason to was with Hypnosis Microphone. What on earth would the Underworld Capital Division even look like? All I can imagine is all of them having literal weapon mics… - Admin Hirahara
“Kirika, ma’am, I have the report for the divisions that will be participating in the first Division Rap Battle.” Ayako brought with her a stack of papers that contained detailed information about the participants Chuuoku could anticipate. It wasn’t long ago that Kirika had managed to storm the prime minister’s office and take control, exposing the previous administration to their corrupted deeds. And thanks to that, she was able to manage Japan pretty well, with her plan to ban weapons and to weed out the corrupted officials and replace them with women. So long as she kept the general public distracted with the rap battles, she wouldn’t have to worry about them acting out against her.
“Thank you, Ayako,” Kirika smiled, patting the table where the reports went. "I know you did a really detailed job. I can always count on you!” She smiled fondly and gave the second in command a pat on the head. “Let auntie praise you a bit!” Ayako looked rather happy with the praise, immediately lowering her head. After she took her leave, Kirika made sure to thoroughly read the notes left for her.
“Let’s see here...” There appeared to be four major divisions that had the most territory. They had beat out the others in street rap battles, so they were probably trying to prove themselves in the tournament.
The first group was the Ikebukuro Division, which consisted of three rather young members. The leader, Kirishima, ran some kind of independent business helping people out. That was pretty noble of him. He was supported by his second and third team members, Saeki and Matsumoto. From the report, it sounded like Saeki was a childhood friend, and while it was Kirishima’s idea to start their company, Saeki was responsible for all the paperwork. It looked like Matsumoto only joined because it was the only place he could get a job, and no one else would hire someone in middle school still.
Generally speaking, they seemed like the kind of good students who were committed to their duties. Kirika wasn’t sure what that meant for their rap skills, but if their territory really was so big, then surely they were not ones to be messed with. It also looked like Kirishima had been involved in many dark dealings in the area before he straighten his life out (thanks in part to Saeki). Kirika thought it might be kind of nice for these young kids to take home first place, and rooted for them in her heart.
Next on the report was the Yokohama Division. These were very serious looking people, led by Rokkaku. “Eh?” Kirika had to double check her report to make sure it was written correctly. “He’s in the yakuza?” He did kind of have the face of a yakuza boss, that Rokkaku. From the report, though, he never seemed to get into any legal trouble with the police. Then again, it could be because the police captain was the second member of the team. Saitou, chief of the police stationed in Yokohama. Through a hard childhood of having lost his parents, he fought his way to the top and ensured to keep the streets of Yokohama clean from illegal drugs. It was pretty admirable. And the last member of the team was an ex-military soldier, Tanizaki.
Kirika, for some reason, felt like that name rang a bell. It would seem that Tanizaki’s captain from the army days was currently in prison in one of the Chuuoku facilities, from the report. “He must have been on the dispatch when we were handing out prototype microphones.” Maybe after his captain’s plan failed, Tanizaki had run off to camp out at Yokohama. It didn’t seem like he was doing anything dangerous, though, so Kirika didn’t have much concerns.
Overall, the Yokohama Division came off a bit shady, but none of them had explicitly done anything illegal. That was the general vibe Kirika got from the reports. They used their microphones to take out people causing trouble for the local store owners, so somehow, they were probably the most successful in helping Kirika in her cause. Maybe she wouldn’t have to keep an eye on them after all.
The third division was the Shibuya Division, led by a rather high spirited Kinoshita. Apparently, despite being on the Shibuya Division, he actually worked in Shinjuku as a host. That was certainly an interesting twist. However, he seemed really devoted to his home turf, single handedly taking over a huge territory before he even got himself a second and third member. As for those members, they were childhood friends, Tagami and Hirahara. Tagami was an author who wrote for various genres under various pseudonyms. He was very successful, but it seemed like most of his money went to support Hirahara’s slight gambling addition problems.
“Oh my,” Kirika sighed, upon reading about Hirahara. It seemed like his father was one of those corrupt officials she took out of office. Hirahara ran away from home before he got mixed up in that, though, so she doubted he had any feelings of resentment towards her. How this group of people found each other... Kirika would never really know. It sounded like they all lived in the same area and ended up being drawn to each other. Together, they made the Shibuya Division an outstanding territory, and were really good at maintaining the peace.
The final division was the Shinjuku Division. They seemed the most mysterious out of all the divisions so far. It was led by the miracle Doctor, who’s name had never really been publicly known. From his background, he studied all sorts of medicines in college, then went to help with the war relief. During that time, he must have picked up quite a number of skills, because when he returned to Japan, he opened up his very own hospital with the number one outcomes. Assisting him in both the team and in the hospital was the head nurse Suigin. Kirika remembered her fondly as someone she wanted to recruit for Chuuoku. The offer was turned down, though, since Suigin really liked her current position. And it was no wonder. Working closely with the miracle Doctor must have been very rewarding.
Their third member was a younger woman named Benibara. “She’s one of the Doctor’s patients,” Kirika stated out loud. Was that... ethically allowed? She wouldn’t question it since she didn’t understand privacy laws for hospitals, but something about reading that felt wrong. Apparently, her random outbursts made her strong on the microphone. She was definitely the wild card of the group. Secretly, Kirika wondered if this strong team would have the strongest raps. They were definitely sitting in top contestant, for her. Not that she was about to play favorites.
Overall, the first Division Rap Battle was looking to turn out quite interesting, with quite a colorful cast of characters. Kirika wasn’t sure how it would turn out, but she did hope to find some strong mic users. After all, while the Division Rap Battle was all fun and games, she really needed to find someone to fulfill her ultimate purpose: to get someone able to use the True Hypnosis Microphone. But until a time like that came, for now, she would just enjoy the peace that Chuuoku had brought to Japan.
