Gaster

Prelude

This page acts as a Biography page for Dr. Wingdings Gaster, given the lack of one on this blog.

It’s not that he doesn’t have one, it’s just...well, complicated.

I would recommend heading on over to his original blog if you want to learn more about him: chorusnihili

I cannot stress to you enough how important browsing that blog is if you genuinely want to know more about him.  The nature of how that blog was designed makes it very difficult to migrate a majority of the information and experience onto this blog.  

My portrayal of Gaster takes inspiration from Canon, Fanon, Headcanon... just about a little bit of everything tossed together.

By default, I’ll assume that our lore / timelines are independent and that Gaster is simply visiting your timeline or vice versa.  But if you want to play within his canon timeline, I’m more than flexible to adjust headcanons and such, just let me know!!

Gaster generally exists within one of two states:  Unbound, when he’s more a part of the void, and Refused, when he has a more natural appearance.  

Please be warned that Gaster is a reality warper of virtually unmatched scale.  He’s not inclined to use his powers often and I try very carefully not to Godmod, but he can do things that would be very easily considered “game breaking.”

In the presence of other Gasters, standard Gaster may go by Lepton.

Stats

History

Gaster was alive on the surface for a few years before the wars broke out; but his youth was colored by the war and hatred of humanity.  He doesn’t recall any family, but, monsters were peaceful and loving and it wasn’t hard for a homeless youth to get by.  

While the experience was certainly heartbreaking, his primary response to being sent underground was relief and the feeling of safety from humanity.

This sets an important foundation for later events in his life.  Helping people was always a huge motivation for Gaster and it’s for that primary reason that he went into the sciences, and eventually became the Royal Scientist.

Long story short, he didn’t want anything to do with the project to break the barrier, created Sans and Papyrus, and fell into the CORE.

The fall into the CORE resulted in the entire timeline being rewritten into a state where he never existed--with the notable exceptions of the CORE itself, and Sans and Papyrus.  The event essentially exiled Gaster from the timeline, shattering his soul into millions of pieces that were scattered about the Void; i.e., the space between the timelines.

Unaffected by Resets, furious at his inability to combat Flowey, and unstable due to his missing SOUL, he eventually slipped away from his timeline, hardly being seen save for a few chance encounters.  

Once Frisk fell and completed the True Pacifist run (the only “run” in Gaster’s canonical timeline) and the resets stopped, Sans finally succeeded in bringing Gaster back.  

But a pissed off reality warping monster set free on the surface may not be the best idea...
