what do you think of RootShadow? I kind of like them, used to love them but realised it was essentially another thing of “let’s hate on canon by making up ships!” So ugh. (Also I have seen a poly ship of RootShadowSun.. you have not witnessed the horrors.)

i think that rootshadow is not as bad as something like rootsun or shadowsun (or even rootshadowsun......... god i didnt even know that existed until now), its pretty okay! but also im just kinda biased because im not a huge fan of bristleroot or how it was written in canon lol...

bunnyshiver! named partially after bristlefrost! ultimate tabby bc all three of her parents are tabbies lol; she’s prone to seizures like shadow is- though they don’t usually come with visions, and she kinda has the sisters’ ghost powers from root! she had a sibling that didn’t make it more than a few moments :( so she’s doted on frequently by her parents and surrounded by love at all times!!!

i think sunbeam should utilize hiding in the healer's den from nightheart which shadowsight and puddleshine are totally okay with and puddleshine starts enforcing a limit on how many cats can be in there at once to keep nightheart out so she gets some space when she's overwhelmed by him

another way she gets away from him and the first time she hangs out with shadowsight and rootspring is when she lies and says she and shadowsight are going for a walk bc she saw shadowsight sneaking out behind nightheart and shadowsight was like "?!?!?!?!" but allowed it and then she ended up just going with her even though they could have split up once outside of camp

i like to think thats how she and shadowsight start like really bonding is shadowsight is just helping her get away from nightheart and berryheart and others im sure

their favorite thing to do together is walk along the lakeshore bc that’s how they first really became friends

they became a Thing™ when shadow was recovering in sky after root found him, and it is at least a little bit bc shadow going missing is what made root realize how much he cared for him

being in the dark forest together nearly broke them up, bc with the stress and everything going on, neither was very patient with the other and it sparked some arguments

ofc after they come back, that’s wordlessly forgotten for a while. they have other things to think about.

shadow and root weren’t exactly planning on starting anything with someone else, but shadow found himself growing close to sunbeam after alitm bc she was just… easy to talk to. she was the first cat that wasn’t rootspring to get him out of his nest while he was mourning

he def notices his feelings for her when she walks thru that bramble bush and he’s grumbling about how stupid it was

she and rootspring become close when they go to find catmint. sunbeam knows about shadow and root and is honestly kinda like “idk what shadow sees in him” until she sees him and instantly gets a crush in a funny lil “oh shit he’s pretty” moment. the rest of the trip they bond bc of their mutual relationships with shadowsight and she gets home as is like “oh god wait a minute”

sunbeam def has a feeling of “am i really a part of this” bc shadow and root were together so much longer, but they both end up seeking her out to be affectionate and do something to show their feelings and that quells her worries a bit

the cuddle piles they have are so good all three of them are so fluffy; if/when they have kits they will never be cold
