12/12 - a date that for me went down in to infamy - it was 12/12/1989 when I managed to pull off this gig in the Indigo Blues Club on W. 46th Street in the basement of Hotel Edison - it was partly owned by Miles Davis and some mafia cats. I put a quartet together with Bernard Purdie drums, Alex Foster tenor, one of the greatest jazz guitarist in the world Jack Wilkins and yours truly Jon Hammond at the Hammond B3, it became necessary at that time for me to change guitar players - I got the B3 down there and Joe Berger shot my PV-430D camera and sat in on guitar - Scott Cooper shot some video also - it was a cold night in December and I was down to my last bucks - down even further after the gig - almost everybody who came said theyw ere on a non-existant guest list and we didn't have anyone to cover the door - they just walked right in and sat right down don't ya' know. No business like the music business folks - I'm on TV tonight at my usual time slot 01:30 AM - 2AM late Friday night / wee hours of Saturday, we are the night people! They were done in 1733, by Louis-Michel van Loo. First is five year old Eleonora in blue, then in gold is Maria Luisa who was four, and last in pink is three year old Maria Felicita.

1730 Tea Party at Lord Harrington's by C. Phillips detail (Yale Center for British Art, Yale University - New Haven, Connecticut, USA). Probably from Wikimedia; fixed spots with Pshop 1247X1623. There are many caps and veils, square necklines, and laced bodices with revers. But full-blown panniers are not to be seen.

1730 Marquise de Gueydan as Flora by Nicolas de Largillière (Musée Granee - Aix-en-Provence, Bouches-du-Rhône, Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur, France). From cutlermiles.com/portrait-of-marquise-de-gueydan-as-flora-nicolas-de-largilliere/ 1908X2484. She wears a stout Swiss belt and cleft coiffure that harken back to the late Louis XIV era.

ca. 1730 Rhoda Apreece, Mrs Francis Blake Delaval attributed to Enoch Seeman the Younger (Seaton Delaval - Seaton Sluice, Northumberland, UK). From artuk.org; enlarged by half 994X1200. The ruff makes this a Van Dyck revival dress. The laced vest and jaunty hat lend a casual air to the portrait.

1731 Die Liebeserklärung by Jean François de Troy (Sanssouci, Stiftung Preußische Schlösser und Gärten Berlin - Brandenburg, Germany). The large patterns mark this as early century. The robe à la française is firmly established in the form it would take until the late Louis XVI period.

1731 Infanta Maria Teresa Antonia de Borbón by Jean Ranc (Museo del Prado - Madrid, Spain). From their Web site; removed spots and streaks with Photoshop 2621X3051. Spain was ruled by Borbóns after the last Habsburg was cleared out in the early 1700s.

Head of “Franky” by Armin Meiwes, the cannibal of Rotenburg.

A known fact that has been recounted many times: In his loneliness, as a child, Armin Meiwes had created an imaginary friend by the name of Franck. Later, as an adult, in the grip of his fantasies, driven by the desire to find himself a companion, and an ideal sexual partner who would never leave him, like Jeffrey Dahmer, he made mannequins to project his fantasies and feel less alone. Here is a remnant of it, a head made up with felt-tip pen with a beard, eyes, eyebrows, etc. It's cold in the back. At the heart of a man's delirium led to the unimaginable: Eating a consenting victim.

Armin Meiwes, born December 1, 1961 in Essen, is a German computer scientist who became known for the 2001 murder of Bernd Jürgen Brandes. Perpetrated on a consenting victim, the murder is preceded and followed by acts of cannibalism. Nicknamed Der Metzgermeister (“the master butcher” in French) or even the “cannibal of Rotenburg”, Meiwes was sentenced in 2004 to 8 and a half years in prison, then, during a second trial, held in 2006, to the life imprisonment. Rammstein's song "Mein Teil" is dedicated to the case. Director Marian Dora made Cannibal, a film about the story of Armin Meiwes. Meiwes is Germany's most famous cannibal. Mühlenidylle am Nordpfad Federlohmühlen

Auf dem Nordpfad Federlohmühlen wandern wir durch verwunschene Wälder zur Mühlenidylle nach Federlohmühlen. Wer hier auf diesem Nordpfad eine grosse Bespassung sucht - der wird wohl enttäuscht sein. Hier gibt es keine spektakulären Highlights. Dagegen gibt es viel Natur pur! Diese Tour ist perfekt zum Entspannen und Auftanken.

Start im Bauerndorf Riekenbostel Rund 14 Kilometer ist der Nordpfad Federlohmühlen lang. Er befindet sich zwischen den Ortschaften Riekenbostel und Kirchwalsede. Unser Start- und Zielpunkt ist der Wanderparkplatz im Bauerndorf Riekenbostel. Dieser schön und zweckmässig gestaltete Parkplatz bietet kostenfreie Abstellmöglichkeiten für den PKW. Eine kleine Sitzgruppe und auch eine überdachte Sitzmöglichkeit sind hier vorhanden. Wir wandern auf dem breiten Forstwegen durch die Wälder des Buchwörths und den Ützenbusch. Nach rund 3 Kilometern öffnet sich der Wald und wir haben einen herrlichen Blick auf Wiesen und Felder. Von hier aus geht es durch schattigen farnbestandenen Nadelwald. Jetzt im Herbst abgeerntete Felder unterbrechen die Waldromantik. Vor uns liegen die wildreichen Wälder des Buhlen. Und richtig: mehrfach gelingt es uns, eine kleine Gruppe von Damwild zu beobachten. Sogar ein fast schwarzes Tier ist dabei. Der Wald lichtet sich und nach der Überquerung der K 209 erreichen wir den Flecken Federlohmühlen.

Mühlenidylle am Nordpfad Federlohmühlen Wann genau die alte Wassermühle hier gebaut wurde, lässt sich leider nicht mehr ermitteln. Es ist durchaus möglich, dass die Mühle bereits vor dem Jahr 1600 in Betrieb war. Die Mühle wurde mehrmals im Laufe der Jahrhunderte umgebaut. Im und an den Gebäuden lassen sich verschiedene Jahreszahlen finden, die darauf hinweisen. Besonders ist hier das oberschlächtige Wasserrad der Mühle zu erwähnen. Diese Bauart findet man hier im norddeutschen Raum nur sehr selten. Bis 1974 wurde das Mahlwerk mit Wasser angetrieben und das Korn für die Bauern der umliegenden Dörfer gemahlen. Bis 1985 wurde dann nur noch für den Eigenbedarf gemahlen und ab 1985 stand das Gebäude leer. 1999 erinnerte man sich an die alte Mühle und fing mit Instandsetzungsarbeiten an. Der ursprüngliche Mahlgang wurde wieder hergestellt und ein neues Wasserrad eingebaut. Die ursprüngliche Anlage und Funktion der Mühle ist auch heute noch leicht zu erkennen. Im Mühlengebäude wurde eine kleine Ausstellung zur Geschichte der Federlohmühle eingerichtet. Zudem kann man sich seit einigen Jahren in den Sommermonaten auch in der Mühle trauen lassen. Das Mühlenrad gibt einem dann nach abgeschlossener Zeremonie noch den richtigen Schwung für eine gute Zukunft mit. Mehr Infos: Heiraten im historischen Ambiente Wir haben uns etwas im historischen Ensemble umgesehen. Nun folgen wir wieder dem Nordpfad. Er führt nun zwischen zwei Mühlenbächen entlang und vorbei an mehreren kleinen Teichen. Wir überqueren den Federlohmühlenbach über einen kleinen hölzernen Steg. Kurz hinter dem Steg verlassen wir den offiziellen Nordpfad für eine kleine Zwischenerkundung. Denn nicht weit entfernt liegt die Ruine einer alten Ölmühle im Wald versteckt. Schon allein die Suche der Ruine kann ein kleines Abenteuer sein. Man muss sich nur darauf einlassen. Schliesslich finden wir die Rest des Mauerwerks der alten Ölmühle, welche hier am Federlohbach einst arbeitete. Imposant ist noch das alte Mühlrad aus Eisen. Wir fühlen uns wie in einer kleinen Szenerie von "the walking death". Es fehlen nur die Beisser. Wie lange dauert es wohl, bis die Natur wieder restlos die Herrschaft übernommen hat?

Nach dem Finden und der Besichtigung dieses lost place gehen wir wieder zurück auf den Nordpfad. Unser Weg führt uns nun durch das Waldgebiet Federloh. Von hier aus ist es möglich, einen Abstecher zum 1,5 Kilometer entfernten Bullensee und damit auch zu Deutschlands schönstem Wanderweg des Jahres 2021, dem Nordpfad Dör't Moor zu machen. Durch den Nadelwald des Sehlbruchs sind wir in rund drei Kilometer wieder an unserem Ausgangsort Riekenbostel zurück. Durch das Bauerndorf führt unser Weg an mit unter alten riesigen Eichen gelegenen Hofstellen und Speichern vorbei zurück zum Parkplatz. So I worked in special education at home and loved it. I just moved to Boston for graduate school, and so have been looking for more jobs in the sped field. Of course I had to come across the JRC.

For anyone who's unfamiliar with the Judge Rotenburg Center, they are a residential school for autistic people in Canton MA. They use torture devices called contingent skin shocks on students as adversives. This practice has literally been condemned by the UN torture committee. In 2020 a law almost got passed banning painful adversives, but the JRC got it overturned bc it's ~life saving treatment~ and ~last resort only~
