Either A and B spend Christmas with A’s family. Infuriatingly, they aren’t too welcoming of B, OR A insists on (fake) cheerfulness during the holiday, which makes B even angrier. (They just want to resolve this issue and not pretend that they/everything are/is fine.) with any pairing. (Sorry, I’m in a sad/angsty mood)
It took me a minute to decide on a ship and scenario for this one, but I realized it's not one of my drabbles unless there's Roura in it. I was also a bit inspired by this for a while for Aura coming from a rich family and decided to go with it.
CW for mild racism/prejudice (hair touching without consent)
"I hope this peppermint bark is good enough for your family," Robin said as she carried the large Tupperware in both hands. She heard Aura lock the rental car as they walked up the driveway leading up to the intricately decorated large house.
"I already told you, you didn't have to bring anything. The caterers have everything covered." Aura reassured her, putting a hand on her elbow.
"I don't care how crazy rich your family is, I was taught to always bring something to a party," Robin said, with a hint of a smile. "But maybe we can find a nice plate and sneak these on the table."
Aura opened the front door and let Robin in first, "My grandparents have tons of nice china, I'll hand this off to the kitchen staff and let them know." She took the Tupperware from Robin and brisked off to the kitchen.
As Robin stood in the foyer and took off her coat, she looked around. There was music and voices coming from other parts of the house as she found a hanger in the coat closet to house her coat for the evening.
An older woman appeared in the doorway to the rest of the house. Her face fell when she saw Robin standing alone, "Where's Aura?"
Robin looked up at the woman, trying to straighten out her black maxi skirt and white sweater, "Oh, she went to the kitchen for a moment, but I'm Robin, her girlfriend. It's nice to-"
"Aura! You're here!" she was interrupted by the woman passing her and wrapping her arms around Aura.
Aura laughed as the hug ended, "Auntie, at least let me take my coat off first." she smiled as she started shrugging off her puffer coat. "Have you met Robin?" she asked.
"Oh, yes, we've already said our hellos and everything." the woman said. "Now come see the rest of the family, it's been way too long."
As the woman led them down a long hallway, the couple walked hand-in-hand. "We will be back in time to watch The Polar Express, right?" Robin asked quietly.
"Of course we will be," Aura told her. She knew this was Robin's first Christmas away from her family, so she wanted at least something to resemble her home traditions.
Once they entered the main living room, the rest of the family bombarded Aura with hugs and greetings. Robin tried to stay holding Aura's hand but eventually had to let go as the group surrounded her girlfriend.
"I'm going to get our drinks," Robin told her and Aura gave her a quick nod in understanding.
After handing Aura her drink, Robin didn't see her much more for the night. She did try to stick close by, but Aura's family kept whisking her off to different relatives who wanted to catch up.
Eventually, Robin gave up on trying to keep up with staying on Aura's side. She tried lumpia that the catering team specifically made for the family, but it wasn't nearly as good as when Aura taught her to make it.
After settling on some cut fruit and crudites, Robin politely greeted people who were near the corner she lingered in. Either they gave her a side-eyed look when she made her presence known or moved to another part of the room to continue talking.
Robin eventually gave up on trying to be friendly, since it wasn't being reciprocated.
The more she people-watched, the less she enjoyed being there. She really missed being with her own family on Christmas. Her family was nowhere near as big or rich as Aura's, but at least she never felt isolated from everyone.
She quietly sipped her second glass of sangria, picking through the finger foods on the table. Whenever she walked by a group talking amongst themselves, they quickly switched from English to Tagalog. Robin pretended not to notice, but part of her took that personally.
She found an empty seat on the end of the white couch after getting bored of wandering around the room. She didn't care if the older aunties shot her looks as they lowered their voices.
Robin never wanted to go home as much as she did then.
Suddenly, she felt a shorter presence come up behind her and felt something move along her back. She turned and felt a small tug on one of her braids.
A small child was standing behind the couch, reaching out to touch Robin's hair. She jumped off the couch, quickly smoothing out her braided hair.
"Hey, please don't touch my hair without asking permission first." She tried her best to sound calm, not needing to make a spectacle of herself.
"Just let the kid touch your hair, they're just curious," one of the older women spoke up.
"Yeah, they aren't hurting anything. Just let them do it." Another woman said as more children came closer to her, some reaching up to grab her braids.
That was definitely Robin's last straw, now she really did not want to be there.
Forgetting the rest of her drink, she briskly left the living room and found herself in the kitchen. The caterers worked around her, none of her bothering to look in her direction.
Then on the corner of the counter, Robin saw what she brought to the party. The Tupperware of the peppermint bark she made the night before sat untouched and completely forgotten.
She should have listened to Aura before. She just didn't understand why until now.
Robin grabbed the container and took a bottle of hard apple cider off the drink counter. Staying here wasn't seeming worth it anymore.
She found herself outside and turned on the porch lights. The swing bench still had the cushions on, along with the throw pillows. She sat on the bench, started snacking on the peppermint bark, and opened the bottle.
Robin found The Polar Express on the YouTube app on her phone for about $5 to rent. She charged it to her credit card and hit play. She was barely into the hot chocolate scene when sleep overtook her.
"...Robin?...Wake up...Robin..."
The familiar voice and a gentle shake of her shoulder lored Robin out of sleep. She opened her eyes to see Aura's concerned face looking back at her.
"What are you doing out here? I've been looking all over for you." Aura said as Robin slowly sat up, and she sat close to her. "How long have you been out here? You feel freezing." Aura wrapped her arm around Robin's waist and felt her exposed hands.
She felt like her mind was still swimming in drowsiness as she tried to come up with a response, "I, um, I guess I fell asleep." she said in between pauses.
Robin ignored her body shivering despite Aura placing her coat over her shoulders. "Can you take me back home?" she asked in a small voice.
"Of course, I think we had enough for tonight."

May Trope Mayhem Day 14: Vampiric Feeding
For @duckprintspress May Trope Mayhem. Finally got around to posting something for it.
Tags: Vampires, TW: Blood, Lesbian AU, RPDR s15, Robin Fierce, Aura Mayari, Roura
"What are you thinking about?" Aura asked. She's laying on her side, drawing figure eights into Robin's palm.
Robin can't even look her in the eyes.
She could hazard a guess as to why Robin is so distant tonight. She hasn't been feeding much, and despite telling Aura a billion times that she was fine, she very much was not. Whether it was some sense of pride or hatred of her new affliction, Aura couldn't tell, but it made her worry all the same.
Aura would never be able to understand the pain Robin went through. Of how Robin used to describe her hunger pangs as a curse she couldn't run from. The fire within her growing until it had to be let out. The way her gums started to ache whenever she smelt blood and the drive to tear out someone's neck. To drink until her meal went limp and she had to bury a body. Robin hated it with her whole being, and she couldn't stop it.
Being a witch before her change didn't help either.
Every single time, Aura's heart broke for her girlfriend. She wished she could do something to help her through all that guilt that came with being changed against her will.
"Do you love me?" Aura changed her question.
Robin propped her head up by her hand. Her eyes were dark. Hungry. Small veins littered her face. She looked at her with a quizzical look on her face.
Still not answering.
Aura pushed Robin down into the mattress, straddling Robin by the hips. Her heart beat its slow melodic thump, singing the song only Robin could hear. She had to take drastic measures to get Robin back before fled the house.
"Because I do. I love your smile." Aura kissed Robin on the side of her mouth, not quite daring enough to go for the real deal.
"And I love the way you make me feel." Aura pressed her lips against Robin's wrist. "The way you hold me so tight. I never want you to let me go." A kiss against the palm of her hand. Aura placed the arm around her waist, leaving it there.
"I love your laugh." Aura left a kiss on her neck. "You never cease to amaze me, I could never get enough of your voice. I could listen to you talk for hours." She kissed it again, this time closer to Robin's jaw.
"I love how attentive you are," Aura whispered against her ear, pressing a kiss against her earlobe. "There's never a day where I can't count on you."
Aura paused to look at Robin again. All those creases had left her. Her breathing had returned to normal. Good. Her half cooked plan was working.
"I love your eyes." Aura kissed the skin right by her eye. The veins disappeared right under her lips. "So beautiful and expressive. I could get lost in them for hours."
"I love how you're as cute as a button." Aura kissed the tip of her nose. What else was there? The words were right on the tip of her tongue, but with how cute Robin was, she lost them.
For the first time that night, Robin was smiling. A half sided one, still restrained by Robin not wanting to flash her teeth.
"What is all this?" Robin asked. "Some kind of love declaration?"
Aura snorted. Hell, she couldn't with Robin at times. At least she was feeling better.
"What I'm saying is," Aura said, pulling down at the collar of her shirt to expose her neck. "I trust you."
"Aura, no."
"I know you will stop. I know it. So please, feed on me."
Robin's eyes darkened at the offer.
Aura kept still as what looked like a million thoughts passed through Robin's head. She didn't dare move. If Robin refused her again, she'd have to accept her answer, no matter how much the rejection would hurt.
Robin put her hand on Aura's neck to pull herself up. She was so close that Aura could feel the ghost of her lips on her skin. Her heart beat faster, the anticipation and slight fear taking over its rhythm.
"I trust you," were Aura's last words before she felt the sting of white cutting through her skin.
She was burning as Robin drank greedily from her vein. Each pump of her heart only served to fill the predator she had willingly allowed into her private rooms. It was a rush like no other, like it was her fate to end her life like this, enveloped in a happy cloud of endorphins rushing to her head.
Before she could register it, Robin withdrew her teeth, and it was over. Aura fell limp against the bed, too spent to move a muscle. She must look stupid with the smile that's plastered on her face.
There was still some blood left on Robin's lips, and in that moment, she had never looked sexier. Full of power to ruin Aura if she as much as thought about it. A part of Aura wanted that, too. But she knew that kind of thing would ruin Robin.
"Shit, I took too much," Robin cursed under her breath. Cute. "Hang on, I'll get you something to eat."
Aura caught Robin by her shirt before she could run off. "Don't worry about it. I love you."
Robin sighed and situated herself back into bed by Aura's side. "I love you too."

25. “What if we just ran away together?” for Roura would water my plants and nourish my soul 💙
hi eli !!!! them calling each other my love is so important to me actually (and it shows oops) but !!! i hope you like it <3<3
She didn’t mean to let Aura see the texts between her and who she thought was her best friend, but now Aura had. She’d read all of the homophobia, the way it turned from disbelief to anger to vitriol. It hurt when it started and it still hurts now, but it hurts even more that Aura had to see the horrible words directed at her, at their relationship.
This was a burden she was supposed to carry alone. One that she couldn’t not anymore, not after Aura saw her name in a text and grabbed her phone, clicking on the notification and reading the conversation with dawning horror.
“My god…” she trails off, turning to Robin with that somber, specific look in her eye, and Robin knows that she isn’t ready for whatever’s about to come out of her mouth. “You’ve been getting these for how long? And never told me?”
“I hoped she’d come around,” Robin excuses, but both of them can hear how weak it is, how fragile she sounds.
Aura puts down the phone and grabs her arm. “Robin, what if we just… what if we ran away together?”
She freezes. “What?”
“We could go somewhere else, somewhere we could live together and nobody would care.”
“Aura…”
Robin is trying to stop herself from thinking about it, trying to stop before she imagines the life she could be living in another city. A life she could be living with Aura. But wouldn’t that be like giving up?
“Robin, please. I have people in Chicago, we could go up there. We could get an apartment, find jobs. Be happy together.”
“My love, we can’t just—”
“But we can. We can do it. We can be happy. We can be together.”
Robin looks at her, mind racing. She could do it, jump the gun and agree to this stupid, crazy, impulsive idea. Pack up her stuff and move away, move from Tennessee to Chicago, of all places. Find a new job and a new apartment, find new friends who accepted and supported her and Aura.
What’s holding her back? Her shitty retail job? It’s crazy and it’s stupid and it’s impulsive but it’s what she needs to do. She can feel it in her gut, something telling her to trust her intuition this time around. To trust Aura.
“Give me time to pack,” she says, and Aura all but throws herself at her, capturing her lips in a sudden kiss.
“I’ll give you all the time you need, my love.”

33 with roura perhaps
33. “Look me in the eyes and tell me what time you went to bed last night.  Or if you went to bed, for that matter.”
-
Aura whined as the sudden sunshine coming through the window illuminated the room.
When she squinted her eyes open, she was greeted with the sight of her lovely girlfriend looking at her with her arms crossed.
"Hi baby," she dragged out the pet name, in hopes to escape Robin's anger.
“Look me in the eyes and tell me what time you went to bed last night.  Or if you went to bed, for that matter”.
"That's a trick question, isn't it?"
"Aura," Robin raised one of her brows.
"I promise I'm not fucking up my sleeping schedule for work... again!"
Aura wasn't lying. Work wasn't the reason she had been staying up all night lately.
The velvet box hidden in between her gym clothes could attest that.
Robin's face softened, sighing as she leaned to kiss Aura's cheek.
"You better join me in bed tonight, alright?"
Aura smiled, "Am I not in trouble anymore?"
"We'll see about it, Mayari".
Aura wasn't lying. Work wasn't the reason she had been staying up all night lately.
The velvet box hidden in between her gym clothes could attest that.

8 for the general prompts?
Tumblr media
I haven't written Roura in a hot minute (besides the sandkeeper fic that is currently being neglected but shhhh) so let go with them! (Also thank you to Kit for teaching my no k-pop knowledge mouth about K-pop groups that Aura would like)
This takes place in the Wedding Planner AU, way before the actual fic starts. so a pre-AU?
8. This will be permanent
"This will be permanent."
"Not really." Robin deadpanned as she looked at her wife. "We can always paint over it if it looks ugly. Or we can get some paint remover from the hardware store down the street."
Aura sighed as she sat on the folding stool, next to the cans of paint. "I wasn't talking about the mural."
Robin gave Aura an empathetic look as she sat on the clean plastic tarp. "You're having some second thoughts about this, huh?" she asked, running her fingers over the bristles of the paintbrush.
The other woman nodded, "This feels a lot more daunting than making bouquets in the garage."
"You're right, this is a lot bigger than what we're used to. But we never planned to stay in the garage until we retired." Robin said, in a gentle tone.
Robin has been ecstatic about getting an official business partner and moving into the building Sasha had found for them. It was going to be great, they would have an entire floor to continue their floral business. She couldn't stop showing her excitement for weeks.
Aura, on the other hand? The change was terrifying. What if it didn't work, and they had to start from the beginning? What if they had a fallout with Sasha and they had to find another place in LA to keep their business?
After a few minutes of silence in the room, Robin stood up again and tied her braided hair into a low ponytail.
"Let's put on some music for us, and make some art together," she said, handing Aura a roller brush. "And then we can talk things through while we paint."
Aura reluctantly took the brush and stood off of the low stool, "I'll try to keep up, you're the better painter out of us."
"Babe, you need to stop underestimating your artistic ability," Robin said as she started playing EXID from the small speaker in the corner of the room.
After a few hours of painting and adding the finishing touches, the plain white wall from before was now filled with a colorful variety of painted flowers. A mix of roses, peonies, and baby's breath, as well as some lilac and dahlias placed throughout.
Over the painted flowers, Robin painted in cursive writing Life is the flower, for which love is the honey. It was a Victor Hugo quote that they used in their own wedding a couple years before.
"I think it looks great. But I think it's missing something." Sasha said as she stopped in to place some furniture in her upstairs office.
"What is it missing?" Aura asked as she was tired and covered in paint.
"It's missing the two of you." the older woman smiled as she placed a brush in black paint and handed it to Aura. "Sign it, all art needs to be signed."
After placing their names and the year in the bottom right corner, the mural looked complete.
Aura felt ready for this change. With Robin by her side, this was turning into what they always dreamed about.
