I know that Ruby will never stop thinking about this moment and she will never stop blaming herself for it. I know she will turn her own words around and around in her head and think that if she had not been so childish, if only she had taken things seriously, if only she had pushed the break instead of convincing Jet it was the only choice they could have taken. If only.

Maybe then Jet would have not choked on her own blood, water in her veins, while she ran away without looking back, saving herself and losing herself at the same time.

interesting thing i thought about while rewatching a crown of candy w/ my sibling who has not seen it:

jet and ruby both have connections to one of amethar’s sisters. jet wants to be a warrior like rococoa, while ruby wants to practice magic like lazuli

when jet dies, emily’s second character is saccharina, who had a connection to lazuli, similar to ruby, which causes friction between them

but if ruby had died, siobhan’s second character was to be bitternight darknibs, who (as revealed in the final acoc adventuring party) was going to be a revenant of rococoa if she came into the game

i think it’s interesting that the connections to amethar’s sisters that the twins have are reversed in their second characters, and it’s very cool of emily and siobhan to do that

the acoc candy couture vol 2 zine is literally the most stunning thing i've ever seen (CHECK IT OUT AND ALL THE OTHER ZINES FROM THE D20 ZINE JAM) and i drew the rocks sisters like i was fucking possessed or smth

i did a bunch of research to make smth sort of historically accurate for my primsy design last year. this year i wanted to just go off and go for pure vibes only. also i actually saved my process!

i knew roughly 2 things i wanted for this piece: outrageous medieval-esque fashions (historical accuracy not required) and also twists for their licorice hair. i put together a pureref, found a pose reference, and played with several different color palettes really terribly until i found one i liked! the details made me wanna die but the end result was sooooo worth it

siobhan's "and i try and run to theo as fast as i can" in safe harbor is just... beyond heartbreaking. her expression and tone of voice... that's not siobhan thompson, that's ruby rocks. an 18 year old girl that just saw her twin sister get fatally stabbed in front of her and had to flee to avoid the same fate, immediately running to find the adult that had protected her and her sister their whole lives, in the hopes that he could do something, anything to save her life... and not making it to him before she sees jet's light fade out in the locket
