and now in this fic, ruki's eyes are kind of a cursed object in their own right, yknow? if a human looks at them then they die. but ruki wont show them to reiji! even if they wont kill him. he's keeping it a secret. so even if reiji doesnt understand why yet, u can understand why it bothers him, right?? he thought he proved to ruki that he could handle this kind of thing, but ruki isn't trusting him with the information, let alone allowing him to look at his face....... :'(

"You... really did it, didn't you... What, did you think I would be happy you sacrificed yourself for me!? Damn you!" Ruki knelt beside Reiji's body, just holding him upon his lap and holding Reiji to his chest. "I did not wish for you to ever do this. Why? I... I loved you, goddammit."

"Now look at you... I won't be able to hold you anymore. I won't be able to tell you how much I love you. Just look at the state you are in, Reiji. I'm covered in your blood... And yet I feel as though my heart... cannot take anymore. Our connection is severed. I cannot even fathom... how I'm going to move on from this..."

"And now I have to set your body on fire. Why are you making me do this? Why did you put yourself in front of me? I cannot bring myself to set you on fire and watch you burn." Ruki places a kiss upon Reiji's forehead. "Do you wish for me to die, too?" He murmured, pressing his forehead against Reiji's and just holding his limp body closer.

"... What becomes of us now...? What purpose was everything we had up until now? You ripped yourself away from me. Now what am I to do?"

Seeing as though how close they would be and how deep their relationship and connection would be, Ruki would be understandably distraught.

He would debate on ending his own life so that he would be with Reiji again. But, he would stop himself, not wanting to leave his brothers or have Reiji's death be in even more vain than it already was.

Ruki would do what he needed to: burn Reiji's body before he could be repurposed like Cordelia or anyone else who would want to steal any part of his body.

He wouldn't be able to move on fully, probably ever. As their relationship meant so much to him and he loved Reiji dearly, he wouldn't be able to move on completely. Ruki would still be thinking of Reiji, often, even if it is decades later.

Nobody would be able to affect Ruki as much as Reiji had in his lifetime. It would feel empty, incomplete, like a hole was in his mind, memory, and heart that Reiji was suddenly ripped away from him.

Who could he ever find that would even compare to how much he felt about Reiji?

He would be very depressed following Reiji's death. His brothers would worry about him immensely so, as this would be completely different than the Ruki they knew.

Eventually, he could go to Reiji's grave and kneel beside it. Pour his heart out to him all over again about how much he missed him and loved him, and cursing Reiji for wanting to be a hero.

Ruki would write letters to Reiji and put them along his grave.

Reiji Sakamaki is in the most denial concerning this ship.

Seeing as though Reiji is quite confident within himself, he would never want to associate with "those damned halfbloods" unless absolutely necessary, such as with a project during class where they are forced to be partners.

Reiji and Ruki meeting would most likely be during school activities. They bump into one another, make each other mad, and then possibly even get into a fight before some sort of trauma is accidentally slipped. For reasons probably the both of them don't understand, they could possibly open up to one another about certain things. This can include similar interests, which there are a LOT of.

Eventually once the aggressive dust settles, Reiji and Ruki could become really good friends. Throughout this friendship, it's more than likely that Reiji develops feelings first.

Considering Reiji as a friend usually closes off Ruki's brain for romantic feelings. However, he could see Reiji in a possibly more appealing light considering romance, if their friendship blossoms and they express how they like their dream partners. Reiji could start doing some things that Ruki likes, and the story unfolds from there.

Reiji's feelings develop over the sense of actually being wanted, needed, and appreciated. Ruki could unlock all of those barriers that Reiji has up, just by simply being kind to him. It's that simple for Reiji.

Also let's not even forget how undoubtedly attracted Reiji would be towards Ruki. Once his nose would stop being stuck up for Ruki being a halfblood, there would be plenty of instances of Reiji checking Ruki out and fawning over him.

And let's ALSO not forget how much Reiji would write about Ruki in his journal.

Essentially, Reiji would become more in-tune with his human emotions with the progression of their relationship.

Reiji would most likely still be a virgin whenever having a crush on Ruki.  He would of course want Ruki to be his first time to deflower him.

Ruki, meanwhile, has experimented both with boys and girls in his pass time. Ruki would surely probably also think that Reiji is an attractive young man, appearance wise.

For regular progression after Reiji's confession of liking Ruki, Ruki would most likely "take over" the relationship and making it progress further over the years of their long-term relationship.

Once both of them would open up their doors and knock down their walls, Ruki would indeed find that Reiji is what he truly has also been looking for.

Another thing is bonding over being able to vent and talk about past traumas. This is very important for both Reiji and Ruki's relationship progression not just between the two of them, but also for their personal growth.

Ruki would be the one to go and adopt a cat and surprise Reiji with it.

Ruki would also be the one to first suggest they move in together.

Ruki would also probably be the one to propose marriage.

Both of them would suggest new hobbies, places, and things to experience together.
