Slugcat Shipruary 3 - Full Moon

Using my OWN designs this time... yippee! This is an edited version of my Gourmand design (made it lighter) and I adapted an old Nightcat design of mine to better fit this style (+ my theme of making this look like 🌖. you know)

Uhmmm ngl this ship grew on me a lot drawing this. As I've said before I have a soft spot for it since it was one of the first I thought about <3 So among the adjustments, I made Nightcat a bit chunkier, as I imagine Gourmand spoils the colony once they come home with so many new foods and recipes. Nightcat reads the stars to help their colony navigate the world. I imagine maybe they're somewhat of an inventor like Gourmand is, so they are always learning off of each other, though Gourm spends more time leading the group and Nightcat has more time to experiment with the new plants and objects they find on their travels. Also i think Nightcat would have the Mark of Communication from the beginning <3

Sadly it doesn't work for my AU I'm planning to make because Night is Gourmand's adopted daughter there. She'll get Survivor and Gourm will get Arti and Hunter instead.

Little guys! I enjoyed this one, even though I was stumped at first.

Au notes:

They met in the colony when gourmand returned. Nightcat is a nocturnal slugcat that can be chaotic but often sleepy. Gourmand is helpful and understanding, and is always a shoulder to lean on (and fall asleep on). Nightcat will fall asleep on gorm's shoulder, and gourmand will stay still and let him sleep.

Gourmand - Any pronouns, nonbinary, bi, asexual

Nightcat - he/she/it, nonbinary, aro ace spec bi

Gourmand shows his love by carrying Nightcat home when it fell asleep, giving it gifts or cooking for it.

Nightcat shows her love for gourmand by choosing to spend her time with them, and giving them compliments.

They snuggle constantly.

The title for this while I was making it was "Peace at Last", the concept being that after countless lifetimes fighting the cycle, ascending everything over again, Saint's boundless resolve starts to fade.

Even though it goes against their "purpose", they spend more time in the slugcat colony. I imagine they tried to ascend everything quickly there before they could feel tempted to fraternize at all with members of their species?

Gourmand and their second in command, Nightcat, welcomed them, gave them food and shelter while Saint realized that there could be more to life than repeating the pattern they'd stuck themselves into. So at least for this lifetime, they chose life and love. The cycle isn't going anywhere, after all

I really hope you like this and again sorry it took so long LMAO I did try to draw this ages ago but I couldn't get the sketch right so I gave up </3

EDIT: OH ALSO Saint is holding batnip because I like to imagine gifting is a big part of socialization for slugcats. While karma flowers are a kind of highty prized gift, Saint in this iteration doesn't want them because they want to enjoy the simpler things, I guess is how I'd put it? So even though batnip normally wouldn't be the most valuable thing to a scug, they really appreciate it now. Also I associate Batnip with Gour <3
