oh hai, a wild ts2 reshade preset appeared. more info under the cut.

NOTE: This Reshade preset is built for TS2.

this started out with me experimenting with @falkii​‘s turniphead preset to suit my tastes until i was left with this

preset is made with gameplay in mind so no fancy schmancy effects except for dof and mxao

the color adjustments are made with my lighting mod in mind so if you’re using vanilla lighting or other lighting mods, you may need to make some adjustment

contains some toggles to turn DOF and MXAO off as both shaders can be hard on your graphics resources

made with reshade 4.7.0. 

to install reshade in ts2, follow this tutorial. for a registration-free xenos injector, here’s the github link. 

important: make sure to include the SweetFX shaders and the QUINT shaders when installing reshade

turn off your smooth edges and any other AA settings in your graphics card control panel, otherwise DOF and MXAO will not work. the preset has SMAA built in so this shouldn’t be an issue

1000 followers gift, part 4: morning dove reshade and teeny tots collection part 2! [download - sfs | mf folder]

it's finally here: the final gift for my 1000 followers weekend! and it's a two in one deal!

over the last year i have come to realise that i really like making two things: reshades, and toddler stuff. it's so satisfying watching the environment my sims are in, and the whole mood of the game, change with the click and drag of a few buttons. also, toddlers are really cute and there isn't nearly enough stuff out there for them.

part 4 has two things: my second reshade preset ever, morning dove, as well as my first every clothing conversions--and for toddlers too! i have received many, many questions about what reshade preset i use, so this is it!

update 10-4-23: fixed issue with weird squares/rectangles on ep05 dress holiday and ep05 vest bowtie, please redownload and replace the original meshes!

part 4a: morning dove

previews feature all effects except fog, artistic vignette, & chromatic abberation. these effects however are present in most of my cc posts, so if you look at my previews i believe you can see them 😅

if you've been following my builds/gameplay for awhile, then you probably recognise this preset. i use it in almost every screenshot of mine, and many people have asked for it, so here it finally is! it is based on @kindlespice's dove 2.0 preset but with a lot of tweaking to make it more versatile in ts2. this preset comes with a number of different shortcuts to enable/disable certain effects: Alt + 4 -> mxao Alt + 6 -> adaptive fog + canvas fog Shift + 2 -> ring dof and gdof Alt + 5 -> artistic vignette Alt + 7 -> marty mcfly dof Alt + 8 -> chromatic abberration Alt + 9 -> directional anti-aliasing the basic goal of morning dove is a preset that looks good in any style--maxis match, realistic, or clay!

part 4b: teeny tots part 2

this particular download just makes me very happy. i love ts2 toddlers, they'll always be the best in the franchise in my eyes, and just look at those happy lil faces! also, milo stylo is being milo stylo and looking so damn cute. there never seems to be enough toddler formalwear (imo) so it just makes me really happy that i was able to make my own.

these are my first ever clothing conversions, i did my best but they're not perfect, so there may be clipping and gaps especially around the shoulders of gp11 dress flower. i apologise for this, i really tried but didn't manage to fix it 😔

final words

well, i guess that's it then! it's the end of a long gift-filled weekend. and also, the start of a very long break.

my final exams will be starting in about two weeks and ending around november; they are the most important ones i have ever faced and i cannot afford to lose focus. after that will be exam after exam, as i enter tertiary education.

the sims has always been a sort of escapism for me, a way to pretend that the trials of real life don't exist. but in the last few months i've felt myself drifting farther and farther from it. i need to focus on my studies and stay focused on my life goals.

the future of this blog is still uncertain. i have cc queued up until june--leftovers from my original break, stuff i finished up, requests i got during my holidays--but after that, there probably won't be any more until i come back... which could be anywhere from 9 months to 9 years, tbh, with my current mood. until then, consider this blog on semi-permanent hiatus.

there are so many of you who have supported this blog from day one, who have always stuck with me even when i'm not at my best or when misunderstandings occur. i cannot thank you enough for your continued support and love. the last year has been a difficult time for me: losing pets, friends, and in general, my mental health. this extra-long gift weekend is for you--a thank you for the over 365 days of kindness you have shown me.

Been using this preset for a while so might as well release it. Emphasis here is on the sharpness with a little something extra if you desire.

This is built with Reshade 4.9.1 and requires the following shader sets:

LAST SEED - A TS2 Reshade Preset designed for historical games.

I finally feel confident sharing this! It’s my custom preset for my medieval game. Last Seed has a warm palette, paired with subtle bloom and vignette to give your game a cozy, yesteryear feel.

Some notes:

The header image is completely unedited, a Print Screen of my neighbourhood view in-game.

Press \ to toggle a stronger vignette for screenshots (it will cover the UI)

Gameplay friendly!

One lil “bug” I guess, is that the colours on the loading screen (you know, the blue squares one) will be veeerrryyy washed out. It’s only on loading screens. I do not know why.

Please make sure you have all shaders. I made this with Reshade 4.9.1.1002.

hello, anon! i actually am very indecisive when it comes to sticking to reshade presets because i love them all, so if i were to compile a list of all the reshades i've ever used, it would probably be longer than the tumblr post limit, xD. as it is though, i've compiled a list of my top 5 reshade presets just for you!

these are in no particular order, and they're very much based on my own personal preference, so do keep that in mind! <3

MY TOP 5 RESHADE PRESETS FOR TS2

1. dove 2.0 by @kindlespice

i love this preset SO MUCH, like many of the reshades i use it's originally meant for ts4 but looks really cool in ts2 as well! especially with clay hair.

i have made some of my own edits to it in my game to make it match my semi-realistic save more, but here is how it looks in my maxis-match save! <3

2. permasummer by myself!

self-promo but this was my first preset and i'm still quite proud of it! i only use it for certain builds now as my style has really evolved since i first started playing with it, but it still has a special place in my heart :3

3. longdistancewinner by @dreadpirate

i just love the dreamy look my game has when i use this reshade--so pretty! it also fits with almost every style you have, maxis match or alpha :)

4. gia by @kindlespice

another kindlespice preset that i really love! again, it's for ts4, but who cares when it looks so cute in ts2? build wip of the oldie-pleasant home for reference :D

5. tv dinner by @microscotch

there are actually 3 presets on that download post and i've used all 3 with varying results, but i love this one the most! it looks especially good at sunset.

permasummer: a reshade preset for the sims 2! [download]

hello, everyone! i've received a lot of questions recently regarding my reshade preset--here it is! it is based on longdistancewinner by @veronavillequiltingbee and while it was really meant to be used in a game with only summer or spring seasons, i've found that it works perfectly well in winter as well.

things to note

this was built for reshade 4.9.1, afaik that is the only version of reshade that works with ts2 atm

it's quite heavy--i recommend leaving shortcut effects off for gameplay and only turning them on for screenshots

while the adaptive fog shown above is pink, i intended for users to change its color to match whatever pic you want to take. so you could make it green, orange, etc. :)

as far as i know, it doesn't whitewash your sims

i included shortcuts for effects such as mxao, adof, cinematic dof, etc.

i use the cinema secrets lighting mod so your game will probably be quite different from mine!

this is not a mod, you should follow this tutorial by the deactivated vidcunds/crystalvu/mira to install reshade, and this one to make the dof effects of this preset work.

after that, simply place this in:

here’s the current iteration of my One Reshade Preset. info under the cut.

optimized for ts2 as always and has some nice goodies like HQ!MXAO, DoF, and Chromatic Aberration (all of which you can toggle on/off and you’re left with a nice preset you can also use for gameplay)
