Sakamoto Fuyumi x Meguro Ren (Snow Man)

Sakamoto: Thank you very much for going out of your way and giving me some of your precious time today.

Meguro: I should be the one saying that, thank you very much for inviting me here. I heard that this is a special project for a new serialization, that’s why I was wondering if it was really okay for me to be in it and was feeling excited.

Sakamoto: No... ano... that is... when I was asked who I wanted as a partner for this talk I tried answering Snow Man’s Meguro Ren-kun in a small voice. Of course, it was in a small voice that can be heard (laughs). And then all members of the staff did their best...

Fuyumi-san said that the last time you were impressed by an idol was with Toshi-chan (Tahara Toshihiko), and that was actually about 40 years ago.

Sakamoto: That’s just how splendid Snow Man’s singing and dancing were when I saw them for the first time in NHK “UtaKon”. All your performances were so good that internally I was thinking “What? What? Amazing!”. The one who got me excited in front of the TV was Meguro-kun.

Meguro: I’m really happy that Sakamoto Fuyumi-san would say such wonderful things. You even kindly showered me with compliments when we first met two years ago on NHK “Akashiya Kouhaku!”. I’m feeling embarrassed and also happy... I’m really honored.

Sakamoto: But being able to see Snow Man up-close immediately has made that emotion stronger. There are a lot of people around me who are already fans of Snow Man and Meguro Ren-kun!

Meguro: It’s the same with me. When I was given the chance to hear Sakamoto Fuyumi-san’s “Budda no You ni Watashi wa Shinda”; should I say I was brought to the world of songs? I was simply overwhelmed with emotion because of how amazing your expressiveness was.

Sakamoto: Really?

Meguro: Yes. There is something like allure that only people who have reached a certain state can produce. Someone like me wouldn’t know what it is; I thought that you must have experienced a lot of things unimaginable to me.

Sakamoto: That’s not true. It’s normal, just normal!

Meguro: I feel like I understand a little of Kuwata Keisuke-san’s strong feelings about wanting Sakamoto Fuyumi-san to sing this song and write it for you.

Sakamoto: That makes me happy. I have received a lot of compliments saying that it was a good song or that it was amazing, but Meguro-kun’s is the first one to compliment me like this. This is the best compliment to me!

“Even if I make a mistake I make sure not to let it get me down the next day”

Meguro: There is one thing I would like to ask you...

Sakamoto: Even if it’s not just one, even if it’s five or ten, just ask me.

Meguro: I wanted to ask how you maintain your motivation day after day, doing various work.

Sakamoto: In my case, I give importance to switching my on-mode and off-mode. And, one other thing: even if I make a mistake, I make sure not to bring that feeling to my next work. When I was young, I used to worry and hesitate for a long time when I make a mistake, but I think it’s crucial not to let those feelings bring me down the next day.

Meguro: I know that feeling very well. I really agree with what you said. That’s because I’m also the type to want to settle problems within the same day.

Sakamoto: I believe that practice won’t betray you. That’s why I practice until I’m satisfied. And if practicing is still not enough to get me to a point where I’m satisfied then I conclude that that is simply what I can do for today. And then I go home, get into the bath, gulp down sake, drag myself to bed and sleep, and then I do my best with a fresh heart when I wake up the next day. And then repeat all of that again (bitter laugh).

Meguro-san belongs to a group while Fuyumi-san works alone. I think there are pros and cons to each setup.

Sakamoto: I think it’s more comfortable in terms of emotions! Even if you make a mistake, the only one you’re responsible for is you.

Meguro: I’m always thankful that I am Meguro Ren of Snow Man. Whenever I’m feeling down, one of the members will reach out to me and help me out. I really like the Snow Man members who are like that.

Sakamoto: You do get along well with all of the members. Everyone has different personalities but everyone’s breath matches those of the other members. I watched the DVD and everyone was shining that it’s alright to say you were radiant.

Meguro: DVD? Is that... our DVD?

Sakamoto: Isn’t it obvious? I was given the chance to watch and hear everything. I also secretly watched the movie “Osomatsu-san” alone!

Meguro: I’m happy. That makes me very happy!

Sakamoto: But Meguro-kun, like the movie that’s going to be released next spring “My Happy Marriage” where you’re the lead, jobs you have to challenge alone as an actor has increased right? What do you do then?

Meguro: When I have to join a filming location alone as an actor then I’d have to contend as Meguro Ren, as an individual, but....

Sakamoto: But?

Meguro: But I firmly think that taking on outside jobs is for the group, so mentally I’m always “Snow Man’s” Meguro Ren.

Sakamoto: So your starting point and place to return to is Snow Man?

Meguro: That’s right. That’s why feel really relieved once I do jobs as a group after doing jobs outside of it.

“I’m not really good at planning dates (laughs)”

Sakamoto: Snow Man is already a family! By the way, is your condition okay? Are you sleeping properly?

Meguro: I am sleeping! It does depend on the day though... Lately, I’ve been able to sleep for 6 hours so I’m happy.

Sakamoto: How about days off? Are you properly getting rest?

Meguro: I have. It��s just that I’m not good at going out for meals or drinks. I often drink beer or highball alone at home, and then lie down on the sofa when I get sleepy and just sleep like that (laughs).

Sakamoto: Finally, I have one question as a representative of your fans. I now know that you’re the type to stay at home. But supposing you get a girlfriend in the future, where would you go for your date?

Meguro: Hmmm... I think I will do my very best to remember if she said something like she wanted to try going to this place, or hasn’t been to that place. I will scrape up those places and make a plan.

Sakamoto: Are you good at making plans?

Meguro: No, I’m not good at it (laughs).  I think I will get pressed for time, and then the plan falls apart.

Sakamoto: Somehow, that’s good. It feels like youth (laughs). Then, can I ask one final question? “I want to be like this 10 years after”, do you have a goal like that?

Meguro: 10 years after...? I think I still want to enjoy living even after 10 years. I only live once so I don’t want to have regrets. I want to live a life that when the time comes I will be able to think “Ah, it was a fun life”.

Sakamoto: Nice! It’s wonderful that Meguro-kun who is 25 years old can say this!! I have become more of a Meguro-kun’s fan.

FAMILIES

The Matthews / Yorks: Isabelle and Ian Matthews are mother and son, Ian’s father left when he was a child. In season 2 Isabelle started dating Ian’s art teacher (Trevor York) which Ian was very divided over for a while, on one hand he admired and loved his teacher since he aspired to be a cartoonist, on the other hand it was awkward af. Regardless, in season 3 when Ian went into junior year, the two got married

The Adams: Samson and Michael are a gay couple that met at the high school they worked at, they married soon after and adopted a kid (Evelyn.) though, around when a new year was starting, they started fostering a 14 year old boy (Hunter) who would be going into freshman year at that same high school. Of course in around the end of season two they had to make a difficult decision of whether to adopt hunter or not, they ended up doing it at the beginning of season 3.

The Thornes: Oh boy, where do I start- Edward has three sons and a daughter. All of his sons are still in high school in season one; Sean in freshman, Noah in sophomore, Todd in junior. His daughter (Felice) is in college trying to get a degree in education, so we don’t see much of her. Edward's wife is in a mental hospital after multiple manic breakdowns when their kids were little, due to her corrupted mental heath probably mainly caused by Edward abusing her for over 10 years. They’re one of the richest families in the city/state due to Edward’s major companies and investments.

The Stevens: Oliver owns a bar, he’s seen it all, heard it all, and is so done with it all. When he had just opened said bar, he was a really friendly guy so almost everyone liked him. A year or so later someone apparently liked him so much they left an unwanted baby literally in front of the bar with a note. And him being the sympathetic person he was, basically took in the kid, though he wasn’t the best at getting through to him. Tommy usually spent his days locked up in his room and playing video games, occasionally even trying to draw though he was terrible at it which lowered his self confidence even more.

Those are the major ones I’ll go over any other important ones on the way.

Hannah x Olivia (TogaChako) Horse girl x Popular cheerleader Secondary main relationship that pops up around season 3-ish when Olivia finally backs off of Kyle and starts having a sexuality crisis when she meets Hannah

Tommy x Todd (ShigaDabi) Gamer boy x Bad boy This relationship was pretty heavily implied ever since the characters were introduced and only confirmed, as something that had been going on for a while, in season 2 right before Todd graduated.

Sean x Monica (TodoMomo) Rich boy x Rich girl Relationship that started in season 2, mostly because both their families own major companies and they were pressured into being with each other. It lasted until season five but halfway through they started faking their relationship due to Monica figuring out she had feelings for someone else and Sean figuring out he was asexual and aromantic.

Monica x KJ (MomoJirou) Rich girl x Punk KJ always had feelings for Monica and helped her accept herself in the middle of season 3 which was around when Monica figured out she had feelings for her back. This is what caused her and Sean to decide to start ‘fake dating’ because of their parents. It was mostly for Sean’s sake, though Monica wasn’t exactly keen on coming out to her parents either. The two also started secretly dating, the four keeping up the act until they went off to college.

Ethan x Mina (KiriMina) Jock x Dancer Started at the end of season 1 and went strong throughout the series (with a couple rough patches)

Hunter x Devin (ShinKami) Alt kid x Jock Casual relationship that started somewhere around season 2 or 3. Not a lot of people know and they just keep it pretty quiet for a while until season 4 when they make it more official.

Trevor x Isabelle (Toshinko) Kid’s teacher x Kid’s mom In season 2 Isabelle started dating Ian’s art teacher, Trevor York, which Ian was very divided over for a while. Later, in season 3, the two got married.

OVERALL SHIT PLOT

Ian wants to be a comic artist and he always doodles in his notebook, he’s been trying to get things published since forever. Eventually, he gets recruited to make a short daily comic strip for their high school news paper, and he gets a lot more attention than he used to plus some art friends.

The main relationship the series focuses on is that of Ian and Kyle. They’ve known each other since childhood and around middle school Kyle distanced himself from Ian and would make-fun of him a lot, nothing too bad but some standard jerk-like behavior. Lately though, Kyle’s shifted more to stopping Ian in his path just to flirt with him, in his own way of course. Which still involved a lot of teasing and annoying, getting all up in his face just so he could see Ian turn red.

Nhận được sự ủng hộ từ giọng hát đầy nội lực, cuối cùng chuyên mục “Bản ghi chép những người bạn mogumogu (hay được nhắc tới) của Sakamoto Fuyumi” sẽ bắt đầu từ tuần này. Trong số này, để kỉ niệm bài viết đầu tiên lên tạp chí, chúng tôi đã thực hiện cuộc đối thoại mogumogu đặc biệt! Đối tượng… thật không ngờ, chính là Meguro Ren đến từ nhóm idol nổi tiếng hàng đầu Snow Man.

Vậy rốt cuộc tại sao lại là cậu ấy?

Sakamoto: Cảm ơn cháu hôm nay đã dành thời gian quý giá đến trò chuyện với cô.

Meguro: Phải là cháu cảm ơn cô mới đúng, cảm ơn cô đã mời cháu đến ạ. Sau khi cháu nghe về chuyên mục đặc biệt dài kỳ mới này, cháu đã thấp thỏm lo liệu mình có làm được không.

Sakamoto: Làm gì có chuyện không được... Mà... Thật ra chuyện đó... Khi được hỏi về đối tượng cho cuộc đối thoại này, hình như cô đã nói lẩm bẩm là Meguro Ren của nhóm Snow Man. Nhưng dĩ nhiên là giọng nhỏ ở cỡ mà vẫn nghe được rõ nội dung. Và thế là các nhân viên đã cố gắng thực hiện nó.

Chuyện cô Fuyumi bị trúng tiếng sét ái tình với idol, kể từ chú Toshi (Tahara Toshihiko) cũng đã bốn mươi mấy năm rồi, mogumogumogu…

Sakamoto: Chuyện đó, lần đầu cô nhìn thấy Snow Man là trong chương trình Utakon của đài NHK phát sóng trên TV, các thành viên vừa hát tốt vừa nhảy đẹp. Đặc biệt là người có được sự hài hòa khiến cô cực kỳ phấn khích thốt lên: "Gì kia? Gì vậy? Giỏi ghê!", chính là Meguro đó.

Meguro: Nghe cô Sakamoto Fuyumi khen vậy, cháu đã hạnh phúc lắm ạ. Năm ngoái, ngay lần đầu gặp cô trong chương trình "Akashiya Kouhaku" của đài NHK, cháu đã nhận được lời khen từ cô. Cháu thực sự vô cùng vinh hạnh, cảm giác vừa xấu hổ muốn giấu mặt đi, vừa vui mừng hạnh phúc.

Sakamoto: Gặp cháu trực tiếp, quan sát ở khoảng cách gần đến như vậy, cô càng cảm thấy phán đoán ban đầu của mình chính xác hơn. Xung quanh cô cũng có rất nhiều fan của Snow Man và Meguro đó.

Meguro: Khi nghe bài hát “Budda no youni watashi ha shinda” của cô Sakamoto Fuyumi, cháu đã như bị cuốn vào trong thế giới của ca khúc ấy, và còn bị choáng ngợp bởi khả năng diễn đạt xuất sắc của cô nữa.

Sakamoto: Thật vậy ư?

Meguro: Vâng. Ca khúc đã biểu lộ ra điều gì đó giống như là sự hấp dẫn chỉ có ở người đã đạt đến một cảnh giới nhất định. Cháu cũng không biết nữa, cảm giác như chắc hẳn cô đã có nhiều trải nghiệm ngoài sức tưởng tượng.

Sakamoto: Không phải vậy đâu. Cô là người bình thường mà, bình thường thôi.

Meguro: Cháu có một chút cảm giác là có lẽ chú Kuwata Keisuke đã sáng tác ca khúc với niềm mong muốn tha thiết cô Sakamoto Fuyumi sẽ hát nó.

Sakamoto: Vui thật đấy. Cô đã nhận nhiều lời khen như là bài hát hay ghê, hay là ca khúc tuyệt lắm, nhưng mà dành lời khen như thế này cho cô thì Meguro là người đầu tiên đó. Với cô thì nó thật sự là một lời khen ngợi tuyệt vời.

Cho dù mắc lỗi cũng sẽ không vướng bận đến hôm sau

Meguro: Có một việc, cháu muốn được hỏi ý kiến của cô.

Sakamoto: Đừng nói 1 việc, dù 5 hay 10 việc thì cô cũng sẽ lần lượt lắng nghe hết.

Meguro: Mỗi ngày mỗi ngày, giữa cuộc sống bộn bề bao công việc, cháu muốn biết làm thế nào cô có thể duy trì động lực được ạ.

Sakamoto: Trường hợp của cô thì việc chuyển đổi trạng thái On và Off là rất quan trọng. Ngoài ra còn một điều nữa. Đó là cho dù hôm nay mắc lỗi thì cũng sẽ không vướng bận đến hôm sau. Hồi còn trẻ khi mà gặp phải thất bại, lúc nào cô cũng đắn đo phiền muộn, vì thế cô nghĩ điều quan trọng là ngày kế tiếp mình không bận tâm đến chúng nữa.

Meguro: Điều đó cháu có thể hiểu rõ ạ. Cháu cực kỳ đồng cảm với cô. Bởi cháu thuộc kiểu người muốn giải quyết xong ngay trong ngày hôm đó.

Sakamoto: Hãy tin rằng luyện tập sẽ không phản bội bản thân, cứ thực hành cho đến khi nhuần nhuyễn, nếu như vậy vẫn chưa được, thì hãy phân định rõ ràng rằng hôm nay đã đạt được đến mức này. Sau đó, trở về nhà, tắm rửa, uống một hơi rượu, ngủ một giấc ngon, sáng hôm sau mở mắt ra, lại khoác lên một tâm trạng tươi mới và tiếp tục cố gắng. Có lẽ cứ thế lặp đi lặp lại nhỉ (cười).

Meguro thì nói về nhóm, cô Fuyumi thì nói về cá nhân. Mỗi bên đều có điểm tích cực và tiêu cực.

Sakamoto: Về mặt tinh thần thì cô nghĩ làm việc một mình sẽ thoải mái hơn. Bởi nếu có mắc lỗi thì hoàn toàn là trách nhiệm của bản thân.

Meguro: Cháu luôn cảm thấy biết ơn vì được là thành viên của Snow Man. Những lúc cháu suy sụp tinh thần, một thành viên nào đó sẽ đưa tay ra giúp đỡ kéo cháu lên. Cháu vô cùng yêu mến tất cả thành viên của Snow Man.

Sakamoto: Tất cả thành viên đều là những người bạn tuyệt vời nhỉ. Ai cũng có cá tính riêng, nhưng lại rất ăn ý với nhau. Lúc cô xem DVD, thấy cả nhóm trong đó đều toả sáng đến mức chói loá.

Meguro: DVD ạ? Cái cô nói đến là DVD… của nhóm chúng cháu ạ?

Sakamoto: Rõ ràng là thế mà. Cô đã được cho xem và nghe hết rồi. Cô cũng đã lặng lẽ một mình đi xem movie Osomatsu san đó.

Meguro: Cháu vui lắm ạ. Hạnh phúc quá đi!

Sakamoto: Mà Meguro còn đóng chính trong movie “Hôn nhân hạnh phúc của tôi” sẽ phát hành vào mùa xuân năm sau nữa, trên vai trò là một người diễn viên thì ngày càng có nhiều công việc cháu phải một mình thực hiện nhỉ. Những lúc đấy cháu sẽ làm gì?

Meguro: Tại phim trường cháu tham gia trong vai trò một người diễn viên, cháu phải chiến đấu với tư cách cá nhân Meguro Ren, nhưng mà…

Sakamoto: Nhưng mà?

Meguro: Cháu luôn mang nặng suy nghĩ mình cố gắng làm các công việc riêng vì nhóm, về tình cảm mà nói thì lúc nào cháu cũng là Meguro Ren của Snow Man ạ.

Sakamoto: Cả điểm xuất phát và chốn trở về đều là Snow Man?

Meguro: Đúng vậy ạ. Chính vì thế, khi cháu liên tục làm các công việc riêng, rồi đến lúc quay về với công việc chung của nhóm thì cảm thấy hết sức nhẹ nhõm ạ.

Không giỏi trong khoản lập kế hoạch hẹn hò

Sakamoto: Giống như là một gia đình đấy nhỉ! Thế còn, sức khoẻ của cháu ổn chứ? Có ngủ đủ giấc không?

Meguro: Cháu có ngủ ạ. Tuỳ ngày mà có sự chênh lệch về thời gian, nhưng gần đây cháu thấy mừng vì mình đã ngủ được 6 tiếng.

Sakamoto: Còn ngày nghỉ? Cháu nghỉ ngơi thoải mái chứ?

Meguro: Có ạ. Chỉ là cháu không giỏi khoản ra ngoài ăn uống. Nên là cháu thường ở nhà một mình, uống chút bia hay highball (một loại cocktail), sau khi cảm thấy buồn ngủ thì lăn ra cạnh sofa, có nhiều khi cháu cứ vậy mà ngủ luôn (cười).

Sakamoto: Cuối cùng là một câu hỏi cô đại diện người hâm mộ hỏi cháu. Cô đã biết cháu là kiểu người có xu hướng ở nhà, nhưng mà giả sử.  Giả sử trước đó cháu đã có bạn gái, nếu định hẹn hò thì cháu sẽ làm gì?

Meguro: Chuyện đó thì… Cháu nghĩ mình sẽ nỗ lực hết mình để nhớ ra những lời cô ấy đã nói, như là muốn đi tới chỗ này, hay là có chỗ kia chưa từng đi bao giờ, sau đó ghi chép lại và lên kế hoạch thật cẩn thận ạ.

Sakamoto: Cháu giỏi việc đó chứ?

Meguro: Không đâu, cháu dở lắm ạ (cười). Cháu nghĩ dần dần thời gian trở nên gấp gáp, cuối cùng sẽ phải kết thúc với kế hoạch đổ bể thôi.

Sakamoto: Nói sao nhỉ, hay đấy chứ. Cảm giác như một mùa xuân xanh tươi (cười). Vậy thì thêm một câu hỏi cuối nữa. 10 năm sau, cháu muốn vẫn như bây giờ, hay mục tiêu lúc đó là?

Meguro: 10 năm sau ạ… Nếu thế thì… Cháu mong 10 năm sau mình vẫn sống vui vẻ. Vì cuộc đời chỉ có một lần duy nhất nên cháu muốn mình sẽ sống để không phải hối tiếc, đến khi nằm không dậy được vẫn sẽ thấy mình đã sống một cuộc đời thật vui vẻ.

Sakamoto: Tốt đấy! Ở tuổi 25 mà Meguro có thể nói những lời đó, thật là đáng ngưỡng mộ. Cô càng lúc càng hâm mộ Meguro hơn mất rồi.
