So, it's the second issue since the Corps took over the book and they're reduced to the Green Lantern Corps fighting Trailer Park Iron Man…or Clearance Rack Transformer, however you want to characterize Truk.

Kilowog: What’s up guys? I’m back. Salaak: What the- you can’t be here. You’re dead. I literally saw you die. Kilowog: Death is a social construct.

Day One
@hal-jordan-events
(only day I'll be doing bc I had no other inspiration tbh)
It's maybe indicative of Hal's mental state that he's broken in to seize the Book of Oa, only to gloomily flip through its pages and not really find what he's searching for.
There's a lot of history in the book, from before Hal joined the Corps as well and there'll be more when he leaves.
What Hal's interested in, why he's risking the wrath of the Guardians or at least their apathetic admonishments for laying a hand on their precious book, is something to tell him anything he's done has been worth celebration.
The most important things aren't even that great, is Hal's own opinion. There's always more to do and he needs to be better always. It all blurs together in constant fighting.
All of Hal's life is recorded in the book. It's not as though he has anything other than his ring, just friends who don't pick up his calls and a family who probably prefers not to see him because he is just disaster and disappointment.
At least Hal saved some people the day previous. It's what any barely competent Green Lantern can achieve.
This is Hal's life, one mistake after another. It's breaking into secure facilities on an introspective whim and realising it's all a waste of time.
Only Hal loves it like nothing else. It's a desperate desire that takes ahold of him, makes him feel when he otherwise can't. Flight and travel and accomplishment all brings up his mood. He imagines it's how people feel about normal things.
What's expected of Hal, always and eventually, is to give up all that. They want his self destruction.
At the end of the recorded history, the pages fade into blank pastel green and Hal wonders what his death will look like when it's written in bleeding red. Again.
There's one thing Hal succeeded in. Somehow, against all odds, despite all cautionary words to the contrary, Hal's not dead for good yet.
Movement flickers in the corner of Hal's eye and he snaps the book shut. A winning smile brightens his features as he turns to face Salaak who has technically caught him out of bounds. Also technically, Salaak is out of bounds too, even if he is all important now.
"Hey," Hal greets, light and cheery, and he bounds across the distance to pull Salaak into a massive hug. It's several long arms and an insect form but familiar in the way that Salaak is not very impressed.
Stiffly, Salaak allows the contact for a few seconds. "Green Lantern Hal Jordan," he then says, maybe because Hal hasn't let him go yet. "The Guardians will -"
"Uh-huh..." Naturally, Hal isn't listening. Led by impulse, he grasps one of Salaak's many arms and tries to pull him along. "Go out with me," he insists. "All you ever do is mess around with your computers. When's the last time you did real work?"
"Green Lantern -" Salaak is protesting but getting pulled along anyway. "Green Lantern, I'm married."
This time, it's Hal who isn't very impressed. "And marriage stops you from working, does it? Another reason to keep it off the table then. Thanks."
Despite Hal's rough tone, he really is pleased to be back bantering with Salaak. The uptight upright insect is a very old friend and working with him again, as Hal is determined to do, will help more than reading any old book.

Green Lantern Ally Movie Ideas, Part III: Other Green Lanterns
Now, let's cover some of the other major Green Lantern Corps members that don't count as the main Green Lanterns. Some of the most prominent of these (and thus, the ones I'm most concerned about including) are: Abin Sur, previous holder of Hal's ring; Arisia, Ch'p, and Salaak, frequent companions of Hal; Katma Tui, a love interest of John; Kilowog, the trainer; Tomar-Re and his son Tomar-Tu; and Boodikka.
Origin Movie: Now, obviously Abin Sur has to appear in an origin for Hal, as does Kilowog. Honestly, the presence of Arisia, Ch'p, and Salaak might have gone a long way to bringing just a little more life to the movie we got. And I feel Katma would be an obvious necessity for a John origin.
Sequel Movie: If you wanted to limit the Lanterns in the origin to, say, Sinestro, Kilowog, and Abin Sur, then I feel Arisia, Ch'p, and Salaak are necessary additions to the sequel. Likewise, any number of other random Lanterns could easily add to the storytelling of any random sequel.
Finale Movie: One would hope that most of the major players would get at least a basic introduction prior to a finale, but the full force of the Corps working together in a finale movie would always be awesome.
Standalone Movie: I guess random members of the Corps could have their own movies. Or you could do a movie where Hal/John/Kyle/whoever is just a member of the ensemble and it's more like Guardians of the Galaxy.
Here are my rankings of them:
Origin Movie: More than just the mentors.
Sequel Movie: If the movie got a sequel, I would have had a problem if Hal's main companions weren't around.
Standalone Movie: A Guardians-style movie could be fun.
Finale Movie: I feel like most should be introduced prior.
What do you think? Who should I cover next?

@knightlier | Plotted Starters [ ALWAYS ACCEPTING ]
"ah, salaak. how long has it been," sinestro seems all too confident in his stride, a light tilt of his head the only obvious sign of his entertainment. "still the guardian's lapdog, are you not? not for long, certainly, but some things don't change by themselves."
Tumblr media
'Not nearly long enough,' as some of his fellow Corpsmen might quip.
Salaak, on the other hand, would much rather focus on hacking away at the traitor with four construct swords than crafting witty one-liners. Alas, the current situation he finds himself in- bound in chains of yellow energy so tightly he has to fight to let out a disgusted hiss from the spiracles on his chest- makes that rather difficult to achieve. He'll have to settle for a different approach, then.
Not shrinking in the slightest at the overbearing approach, his own pride evident in his refusal to forfeit even an inch of height difference, Salaak holds his former comrade's gold gaze. But under the surface, he tenses the muscles in his legs, tightening them like bowstrings ready to be let loose.
"Your arrogance is just as unchanged." His internal mandibles click together, sharp and harsh. "Your resilience would be impressive if not derived from inability to accept being wrong."
Just eight steps closer...

[ shoutout to inhuman characters that don't do use That cop out and attribute being "abnormal" to a racial quality. Habeas is nonbinary, and both Bro'Dee and Thoth are autistic, none of which are just "the way their species does it." ]
