In 1879, Billy the Kid got in a bar fight after cheating at poker. He was aided by two teens who turnned out to be time travelers. He became their right hand man as they went through time picking up historical figures and he took a particular shine to Socrates. Then Billy the Kid and the historical figures Napoleon, Socrates, Sigmund Freud, Beethoven, Joan of Arc, Genghis Kahn, and Abraham Lincoln are brought to 1988 to spent the day in San Dimas, CA (Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure, Flm)

Dismas, the Penitent Thief

I wanted to copy the style of Byzantine icons. I also wanted to draw him nude, but I messed up, so I covered him up.

Papa’s Best Sandwiches, 1034 W Arrow Hwy, Ste B, San Dimas, CA 91773
Tumblr media
Papa’s Best Sandwiches is a humble mom & pop sandwich shop that seems very popular with locals. While I was there, one regular was talking about the sandwich he was going to get the next day.
They have hot and cold sandwiches and one kind of bread, a white roll. The sandwiches are 9 inches long. The marinara chicken sandwich was popular. They make their own roast pork and sauces. There’s a daily soup and they have lots of bags of potato chips and canned beverages to choose from. There was a soda fountain machine too, but it was out of ice.
A half sandwich with a drink, cup of soup OR chips is $9.50.
Via verde sandwich (1/2 a sandwich with slow cooked pork, garlic aioli, salsa verde, jalapeno spread, cheese, cilantro, onions, tomato & pickled jalapenos): It was smaller than I expected but the roll is wide. The spreads were all very good – garlicky, spicy. The toasted white roll was so soft, fresh, and chewy but with a bit of crunch from being toasted. Sadly, the shredded slow roasted pork was too salty.
Zucchini soup: seemed homemade with sliced zucchini, tomato, and Italian seasonings in a light broth. Nice, simple, comforting.
Got a can of flavored sparkling water, a nice option to have. Prices are very reasonable. The food takes awhile (they’re busy). The décor is basic. It looks like an old sandwich shop. Papa’s Best is in a strip mall with plenty of parking. If you pay cash, there’s a discount (credit card fee of 3.5%).
