Everyone knows about Lincoln and Garfield and McKinley and Kennedy, the quartet of America Presidents who fell victim to assassination. Even the most casual observers of Presidential history can probably name the four Presidents who were murdered while in office, and many even know the names of the four assassins responsible for their deaths: Booth, Guiteau, Czolgosz, and Oswald.

There have also been quite a few (in)famous unsuccessful assassination attempts, where Presidents barely escaped with their lives, that many Americans are familiar with, including (but not limited to):

•Richard Lawrence's miraculously unlucky double misfire on the steps of the U.S. Capitol in 1835 which left Andrew Jackson unharmed but resulted in Lawrence -- who would be found not guilty by reason of insanity -- getting viciously pummeled by the cane-wielding President Jackson until Davy Crockett intervened to save the would-be assassin from the 67-year-old President. •The shooting of former President Theodore Roosevelt in Milwaukee as he sought another term in the White House during the 1912 Presidential election. Despite being shot in the chest, Roosevelt decided to go ahead and deliver his campaign speech before being taken to the hospital where doctors discovered that the bullet lodged inside of TR had first passed through a case for his eyeglasses and the thick pages of his speech in his jacket's pocket, lessening the damage from the gunshot. •The attempted assassination of President-elect Franklin D. Roosevelt in Miami in February 1933, just seventeen days in before FDR's Inauguration, which wounded four people and killed Chicago Mayor Anton Cermak. •The ill-fated 1950 attempt by Puerto Rican nationalists to storm Blair House (the temporary Presidential residence during the renovation of the White House) and kill President Harry S. Truman as he was napping. Truman was not hurt, but a White House Police Officer and one of the two assassins were killed during the wild shootout. •President Gerald Ford's trouble with two California women who separately tried to kill him in Sacramento and then San Francisco just two weeks apart in September 1975. •The shocking shooting of President Ronald Reagan in broad daylight from just a few yards away as he exited the Washington Hilton following a speech in March 1981, which left four people wounded and very nearly killed the 70-year-old Reagan just two months into his Presidency.

But what is amazing is that, in this age of instant information and the constant regurgitation of media coverage via the 24-hour news cycle, very few Americans know that there is a man sitting in prison in the former Soviet Republic of Georgia for attempting to assassinate President George W. Bush. What even less Americans realize is how close Vladimir Arutyunian actually came to accomplishing his task.

On May 10, 2005, President Bush spoke to a large crowd at an outdoor rally in Tbilisi, Georgia. In one of the photos at the top of this post, Bush is seen speaking from the stage in Tbilisi. The other photo is of Arutyunian holding a plaid handkerchief close to his chest. Wrapped in that handkerchief was a live hand grenade.

As President Bush spoke, nearby sat his wife, Laura, Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili, and the Dutch-born First Lady of Georgia, Sandra Roelofs. They had no idea that, during the speech, Arutyunian tossed his handkerchief-wrapped grenade towards the stage. The grenade landed just 61 feet away from President Bush, well within range of causing serious injury, if not death.

Of course, the grenade did not explode. At first, it was thought to be a dud, but upon closer inspection it was discovered that the only reason the grenade didn't explode was because Arutyunian's handkerchief -- used to conceal the explosive as he stood in the crowd -- was wrapped too tightly around the grenade, preventing the firing pin from deploying. A Georgian security official noticed the grenade, grabbed it quickly and disposed of it as Arutyunian disappeared into the massive crowd and President Bush continued speaking.

After Bush's speech was over and once it was recognized that the President had only narrowly escaped a legitimate attempted assassination, Georgian police worked closely with the United States Secret Service, the FBI, and the U.S. Justice Department to investigate the assassination attempt and find the would-be assassin who seemingly melted into Tbilisi after his brazen, albeit unsuccessful attempt on Bush's life. Using DNA evidence and tips from informants, the Georgian police ultimately tracked down Arutyunian two months later. When they went to arrest Arutyunian, a gunfight broke out and Arutyunian killed Zurab Kvlividze, a top counterterrorism official with Georgia's Interior Ministry. Arutyunian was wounded before finally being captured with the assistance of Georgian Special Forces.

The Georgians tried Arutyunian on the murder of the police officer, as well as the attempted assassinations of President Bush and President Saakshvili. Arutyunian was sentenced to life in prison with no possibility of parole. A federal grand jury in the United States also indicted Arutyunian on the federal charge of the attempted assassination of the President of the United States, which is a felony. The U.S., however, has not attempted nor has any potential plans to extradite the failed assassin from Georgia, and Arutyunian will almost certainly spend the rest of his life in a Georgian prison.

Ten years ago, tragedy struck for the Malik family - a family known for luxury and elegance in the hotel and travel industry, carrying a legacy akin to the Hiltons. A house fire took the lives of the patriarch and matriarch of the family, thrusting the responsibility of the family dynasty onto the shoulders of the eldest son. What started as a meager hotel business soon spread into a global entity of resorts and luxury getaways under the easy to remember umbrella name of the family namesake: Malik.

With the passing of his parents, First Malik (52) took over as the CEO and Chairperson for the company a decade ago and has felt huge mounting pressures over the last ten years as the organization continues to grow and expand. This has left a void with his wife First Malik (57) and three children, as he has become consumed with his work and making sure that he does his parents proud. Aiding him in this pursuit is his brother First Malik (48), working as the Head of Marketing and Branding. His wife First Malik (50) is a former model turned spokesperson for the company, appearing in many of their commercials and print advertisement material and together they have a young daughter. Another tragedy befell the middle child, when First Patel (46)’s husband passed away from a drug overdose three years ago. Similar to her eldest brother, she has allowed her work ethic to consume her grief, working as the General Manager of Malik-NYC, one of the crown jewels of luxury in New York City. This has led to a strained relationship with her daughter.

Providing an adjacent career and still helping the family name are the twins First Malik (42) and First Malik (42). Both are renowned architects who have used their skills to design upcoming resorts and hotels for the Malik brand. Their collaborative efforts have left an indelible mark on the company’s global footprint, further aided by First Malik (40) who serves as the Head of Global Expansion and Development. In this role, she traverses the globe, securing investments and locations for her twin siblings architectural creations. Between the three of them, they have a list of upcoming resorts and hotels that will debut around the globe in the next few years, further cementing the name “Malik” in the minds of anyone wanting to get away and relax in the lap of luxury.

At the end of the family tree is First Malik (38), taking a completely different route and going to culinary school. She has since been hired on as the Head Caterer at Petal, a Michelin-starred restaurant in Manhattan owned and managed by First Monroe (47), providing a unique alliance of sorts between the two families. The Malik family may have been riddled with tragedy over the years, but continues to defy the odds and maintain their status within the elite circles of New York City.

I was sidling up to the hotel bar to get drinks, when I saw the Delightful and Hilarious Sandra Valls, the MC for Creating Change 2023 and a fantastic standup comic, who immediately asked if she knew me! Casa de Pedra, Caminho do Sal e Paranapiacaba

Novamente fomos tomar um café da manhã na Casa de Pedra no Parque Caminho do Mar.

Como sempre nos encontramos no nosso tradicional ponto de encontro, e estavam nessa aventura: Simone, Alessandra, Rejiane, Renata, Sandra, Akio, Hilton, Crema, Ricardo, Edison e o Ademilton de MTB. E assim partimos para nossa aventura.

Já em São Bernardo do Campo o pneu do Crema furou. Até aí tudo bem. Trocamos, né Crema.... Mas depois de tudo montado a câmara reserva dele estava furada. Então trocamos de novo. Enquanto isso fomos remendar a outra. Depois de fazer o remendo fomos testar, ai então descobrimos que tinha  mais um furo, então fizemos o segundo remendo. Mas o pior, tinha o terceiro furo, então jogamos a câmara fora. Bela câmara reserva hahahahahahahaha.Feito o reparo seguimos para a Casa de Pedra, ai sem mais imprevistos, pedal fluiu bem e todos chegaram em segurança para o café da manhã.E desta vez não pegamos um bom dia para avistar o mar. Estava com muita neblina. Anterior Próximo Depois do café da manhã prosseguimos a nossa aventura. Só que como a Renata estava de Speed, não teria como ela ir com a gente pelo Caminho do Sal. Então combinamos nos encontrar lá em Paranapiacaba. Foi então que a Sandra e o Ademilton, resolveram ir com ela, para ela não ir sozinha. E foi isso que fizemos. Partimos até a entrada do Parque Caminho do Mar, abastecemos de agua e nos separamos. Os que foram pelo Caminho do Sal, já imaginavam que não estaria fácil devido as chuvas de sexta e sábado. Mesmo assim encaramos.

E o Akio que estava todo orgulhoso que estava usando sapatilhas a um mes e ainda não havia caído.Acho que esperou o momento certo para isso. Em uma passagem nas poças de lama não deu outra. O pneu caiu em um buraco, a bike parou e não desclipou hahahahahahaGanhou um belo banho de lama hahahahaE o pior que a Alessandra foi ajudar a levantar, e também enfiou o pê na lama.Mas tudo bem, foi mesmo o motivo da piada nesse dia que já estava divertido .Depois de rirmos muito do tombo do Akio, seguimos para Paranapiacaba, foram subidas e descidas bem dificeis, mas todos chegaram no asfalto inteiro, menos o Akio que parecia um tijolo de lama pedalando hahahahahahFinalmente chegamos em Paranapiacaba e fomos encontrar com o pessoal que veio pela estrada que já estavam no bar tomando cervejas e comendo torresmo quando chegamos.  Anterior Próximo Finalmente depois de muitas risadas, e todos bem alimentados, começamos o retorno para São Paulo, mas desta vez decidimos voltar de trem, alem de estar tarde, todos já estavam bem cansados.Então pedalamos mais 12 Km ate a Estacão de Rio Grande da Serra para pegarmos o trem .

Aqui já todos no trem, e por milagre até que o pessoal não parece estar tão cansados assim... Ou seria a cara para pedir pro Crema ficar cinco minutos quieto hahahahahaha

E por fim, foi um dia maravilhoso de sol e aventura em nosso passeio! Foi emocionante e muito divertido, com muita alegria, resenha e risada entre amigos. Todos nós tivemos um grande momento juntos e chegamos em casa sem nenhum incidente - apenas um pouco cansados depois de tanto exercício.Desde o começo do dia, todos estavam animados para sair e pedalar pelas trilhas do Caminho do Mar e Paranapiacaba. O clima estava perfeito, com o sol brilhando e uma brisa fresca soprando. As paisagens ao longo do caminho eram de tirar o fôlego, com belas vistas das montanhas e da natureza.Enquanto pedalávamos, conversamos e rimos muito. As piadas e histórias engraçadas mantinham todos animados e felizes, tornando o passeio ainda mais divertido. Não faltaram momentos de pura diversão e descontração, tornando o dia ainda mais especial.Além disso, a sensação de liberdade e independência que vem com o ciclismo foi incrível. Todos nós nos sentimos livres e empolgados, aproveitando cada momento juntos.Ao final do passeio, todos estavam cansados, mas extremamente satisfeitos e felizes por terem compartilhado esse momento especial juntos. Já estamos planejando nosso próximo passeio de bicicleta para o feriado de sexta-feira. Aku mulai dari pertama kali aku ngefans sama sosok terkenal. Itu Cristriano Ronaldo pas waktu piala dunia 2010 di afsel. Pas itu iklan RCTI nampilin dia. 2 hari setelahnya aku mulai ikutin sepak bola dgn nonton pertandingan portugal. Ternyata portugal nggak lama di pildun 2010, mereka kalah 1-0 sama spanyol pas 16 besar. Itu jg pertama kali nya aku nangis grgr mngkn nggak bakal liat CR7 lagi di TV. Tapi dari situ aku mulai belajar search internet untuk liat pertandingan bola sampek akhir nya tau TVONE nayangin Laliga dimana ronaldo pas itu main di real madrid. Udh deh wkwk nonton semua pertandingan real madrid nggak pernah skip bahkan tiap pagi pasang alarm buat nonoton bola cause at that time Tv satu2 nya sumber informasi buat liat bola. bahkan highlight2 nya jg aku tonton wkwk

Trus mulai tau starting line up real madrid ada pemain no 8 nggak kalah kece dr ronaldo yaitu kaka. Akhirnya makin lah tergila-gila sama bola. Ikutin kaka sama ronaldo sahabat ibarat 2 mata uang berbeda yg satu religius yg satu nggak samsek. Yg satu kharismatik yang satu playboy atraktif. Aku yg waktu itu umur 10/11 thn udh cari info sedetail itu ttg mereka berdua. dari rpnaldo jg aku mulai suka sama artis2 hollywood. Pertama yg aku suka paris hilton soalnya di matan ronaldo. Oh iya dr sepak bola juga aku belajar pertama kali sholat tahajud, soalnya tiap pertandingan kan sll malem.  awalnya masih bolong2 tapi karna tiap minggu ada pertandingan real madrid ya per minggu jg itu aku sholat tahajud.

Lanjut di paris hilton, pelan2 aku mulai tau soal lindsay lohan sama harry potter. Karakter yg aku suka di harry potter pertama kali adalah “luna” bahkan wkt itu aku punya panggilan khusus sama temen ku “lilo” dan “luna” wkwk. Dari situ aku mulai banyak belajar gimana industri hollywood karna terlalu ngikutin. Nggak tau knp tiap kali aku tertarik sama suatu hal aku pasti cari tau itu smpek akar2 nya. Bahkan karna aku suka film2 luar negeri aku jg belajar soal politik bahkan kebudayaan negara itu. Waktu itu aku SD kelas 6, ada mata pelajaran IPS yg jelasin ttg geografis negara dan sejarah dunia, and guess what aku gampang bgt paham wkt matpel itu. aku hafal 7 keajaiban dunia, ibukota negara2. dari situ jg aku bisa introduce myself pkek bhs inggris disaat tmn2 ku yg lain masih belajar bahasa inggris warna dan alamat.

Rasa suka ku sama industri hollywood masih smpek skrng walaupun nggak se pgn tau kaya dl. Selain hollywood aku juga suka kdrama. Aktor pertama ku ya lee min ho (no doubt) grgr Boys Before Flowers di indosiar. Lagi2 aku nggak cuman suka artis nya tapi jg negara nya, bahkan aku jg balajr gimana perekonomian negara korsel. cara mereka branding produk lokal nya smpek bisa jd investasi negara itu ke seluruh dunia And it makes me really want to go there. Aku kalo ditanya dl waktu umur 11/12 thn mau kuliah dimana jawaban ku adalah “Chicago University” grgr liat Home Alone 1 2 3. Diumur itu juga aku kalo ditanya apa cita-cita mu jawaban ku adalah dokter spesialist kecantikan. Everything happens because of example, because of something like that motivate us and it really2 works on me.

Bkn berarti saat apa yg saat ini aku kerjakan tdk sesuai sama cita2 ku dl, aku gagal. Aku justru merasa sangat berterimakasih atas impian masa kecil ku dl yg buat aku jd pribadi yg seperti saat ini. Cuek, ambisius, fokus, dan berkomitmen tinggi. Kalo dl aku nggak liat CR7 di RCTI apakah aku bakal belajar sholat tahajud di umur ku yg masih 10 tahun?. Aku jg belajar puasa kelas 6 SD. Waktu itu senin aja, trus naik level jd senin kamis dan alhamdulillah smpek skrng. Dl aku sempet belajar puasa daud jg cuman berhenti pas aku smstr akhir kuliah. 

Kalo ditanya skrng siapa celebrity crush ku aku nggak ada yg spesifik. But i do more enjoy ikutin artis luar than my own country. ada jg artis indo yg aku admire bgt kaya sandra dewi, laura basuki, dian sastro. Kalo yg cowok terakhir aku pernah suka bgt sama JB sblm dia nikah. Tapi aku ikutin karya2 nya smpek skrng. Oh terakhir yg aku suka itu Sehun sama D.O EXO tapi nggak lama cuman 1 bulan aja wkwk. 

Kalo ditanya seberapa penting celibrity crush buat aku. Aku bisa jawab it really build me now. Sebaik2 contoh itu memang rasul i admit that. Terkadang bbrp hal akhirnya aku compare sama rasul yg memang beliau sebaik2 nya contoh. Aku sndri masih sangat jauh untuk itu tapi terimakasih banyak ya allah. Dari duniawi ku dl aku bisa smpek di titik ini yg aku jadikan orientasi ku akhirat. Percaya nggak percaya cewek 1/2 tomboy yg dl nya kepincut sama ronaldo grgr iklan TV malah belajar tahajud dr situ wkwkwk. Berdoa pgn spec kaka versi muslim nya.
