Orochimaru is one of the best Naruto characters because it's like a choose your own adventure every time you think about them. You either choose to view them as a queer icon whose only crime (besides the atrocities) was serving cunt or you choose to rip your hair out analyzing and dissecting how upsetting they, their backstory, and their dynamics are

The whole “three-way deadlock” metaphor for the Sannin doesn’t really hold up once you realize Tsunade could easily snap the other two in half.

With the right people maybe? Probably? The only OT3 of a love triangle chaos I usually fall towards is the Sannin but I’m always ready to be convinced otherwise! I’m open to the idea of it, like I’m open to all new ships but it always needs to be built up and done with the right amount of chemistry~

So I’d give it a go if it could be done right and it stays fun!

Fandom Year in Review (2022)

It’s the very last day of 2022, and that means it’s time for a little look back at my fandom year in writing (and podficcing, events, etc.) once again! Then I’ll get back to writing before midnight, along with setting some goals and plans for 2023, of course. ;)

I posted 163 new stories to AO3 this year!

(Startlingly, as I had entirely forgotten, I also posted exactly 163 new stories to AO3 in 2021! o.o)

Those 163 stories were for 17 fandoms, 3 of them new for me to be posting for, and 50 ships! (18 of those ships were new.)

I posted a total of 377,979 words to AO3 this year!

I participated in 8 fandom events, with a total of 73 stories! Those events include:

Iruka Winter Bingo 2021-2022 (server event, @the-umino-hours) the Three Sentence Ficathon, over on Dreamwidth (moving to its own community for next year!) @harunosakuraweek @domaystic @badthingshappenbingo, which I will continue working on my board for @kakashiweek @whumptober, for which I wrote only minifics this year NejiHina Week (run by @nejihinata)

(And I don’t count my personal project the Valentine’s Spectacular in this list.)

I think that it's really more or less impossible to actually analyze Orochimaru just because there's so little real backstory to them. We never get any real reasoning for their entire.... thing.... other than some vague references.

You could take them as an example of Konoha's corruption. You could take them as an example of Danzō's manipulation. You could take them as an example of Madara's influence. Etc. Etc. Etc.

But you don't ever really get to know much about them. And I think that's really interesting, but at the same time I'm not sure if that's a deliberate choice or just accident, and I think that does make a significant difference.

That's why I like to analyze in regards to their relationships, and I think it's really interesting that that's really the most impactful aspect to them: the way they affect other people, not them themselves.

he world of naruto would be weird, confusing, and genuinely terrifying to live in as an average person with no ninja abilities, or even as just like, a normal ninja. imagine living in a world where a giant furry might show up and wreck your entire town and slaughter your whole family at any moment. anyway enough of that. jiraya/tsunade/orochimaru is ot3 and you cannot convince me otherwise

Recently deployed to war and shaken by new realities, the young and not-yet-named Sannin have been called home to regroup and receive new orders. On the journey, emotions are revealed, and the three young teammates take refuge in each other.
