Oouil Show Review: (first 3 episodes)
Okay. This show. Is amazing. Better than I expected. I love it. Obviously they changed up some stuff and i think it adds an element of surprise for people who have read the books... Like the Simon's laptop thing and all. So there's that.
And I like the portrayal of the characters a lot too. Addy being super dependent on Jake, being anxious and insecure.. It really captures early book Addy. I'm super excited for her character arc. And Annalise Cochrane is a very talented actress. Bronwyn's great! The know it all - ness, her just in general Bronwyn-ness... Love it. (Side note: Marilyn Tejada is SO pretty) and then Nate. Nate. So sassy omg yall his snarky comments 👌👌 he's a little more out there than he was in the books but I'm here for it. Oh and that scene with Cooper and the painkillers when he said he helped him because he knows what's it like to have people depend on you and him not dealing painkillers cuz of his dad I WANTED TO HUG HIM my poor baby. Adding Stan here: Best character obviously. We all agree on that I hope hehe. Next up Cooper: he's a little more uptight and confrontational than in the books and tbh i miss the sweet chill sunshine book cooper but yeah. I like him well enough. Janae and Simon.... Jessie and Mark really portrayed them amazingly. And Jake pretending to be all over Addy but you can literally see his underlying disgust? At Addy. His villianness? Anyhow u can tell he's not as sincere as he seems right from the start. Oh and Maeve. Maeve my sarcastic girl. Love her. Her scenes were iconic. Especially at Simon's wake lololol.
But.
I don't like how they changed up some stuff like show Kris was weird and even Evan and the plot twist with Maeve and Simon was ???? I was shook tbh. So yes. That whole thing I don't vibe with. Other than that. Love it. Recommend it.

Hehe Melanie if you want i can offer some characters! 👀
I have Ulrica, a first year student in Ignihyde and 16,he used to be a fortune teller but now hates everything about it. Craves to be around people but also pushes them away in fear of losing them.
Also Simone a fourth year in Witching Hour Academy! She's a cat demon, who loves literature, she's a Lesbian and loves acting. Can be very condescending and controlling though.
Hi bestie!!! <3 I was about to send you something so here we go!!
Now I can't remember if Ulrica is bi so correct me when I'm wrong but I think him and Alto can get along! Ulr hates being the center of attention so she could take it off him by being the loud-mouth punk she is. She's also sassy so I imagine being them not taking his sarcasm all too seriously cause she knows that he's just gloomy. So she drags him to a karaoke spot to just...scream his feelings out. I can definitely see them as an opposites attract kind of couple who know when to reel the other in and just enjoy being in each other's company, like they're the only people around.
And with Simone uuuuuh. *yeets Blanche at her* I mean am I wrong? Lesbian cat-girls unite. Blanche is very much easy-going and is the mellow kitty and Simone's hissy meow meow. She can take the snark and fling it right back with a "You're not very good at hiding your feelings huh~?" After a while of being vaguely flirty on Blanche's part and Simone understanding that she's not going to be seen as weak for falling in love they get together and catnap under a big shady tree. Blanche would start learning to act so she and Simone can get lead roles and kiss but if that's a little too much she's fine with holding tails as they drink smoothies while window-shopping in town.

hehe Brutally honest about Simone and Baldwin!!! kidding. You don't have to answer this one :PP
Lol well you know I do have a thing for a ship made for me LOL. So far I like them! I think Simone is going to give Baldwin a run for his money! She's sassy and willful but she also knows him in ways no one else could dream. And Baldwin will bring back some of the childish notions she has lost since growing up. Like prince's and princesses as well as true love. (I thought why not. Could be fun. 😆)

How well do you get along with Sheepy’s romantic f/os?
Tumblr media
Well, Sheepy does have quite a few F/Os I’ve met so I’ll try to cover all the ones I’ve actually met!
Black Hat: He seemed really scary at first but he actually taught me some really cool magic tricks! I’ve been incorporating them into my shows and the reactions from the audience are honestly hilarious and amazing! And Black Hat’s magic is also amazing! He seems really amazing and capable, he really just is a cool guy!
Junkrat: He seems interesting! Likes explosions! He’s shown me how to make a bomb before. I’ve never made one despite knowing how to make one, but hes kind of interesting?
Damien LaVey: He’s really fun, even though he can be pretty destructive sometimes! Sheepy doesn’t really let me hang out with him ever since he gave me a case full of medieval weaponry and told me to “wreak havoc” with it - but I still text him! He’s funny!
Simon Blackquill: He’s pretty intimidating, but overall a really nice guy! You just have to get to know him first. And he’s pretty sassy and funny - but he is always looking out for me!
Elias Ainsworth: He teaches me magic tricks, too! It’s really cool! And I love visiting and seeing my sister, Chise.
Julian Devorak: He also teaches me tricks! And like more than just magic ones, too! I’ve learned how to incorporate it into my show actually - it’s quite amazing! Plus he’s quite funny! Although sometimes he can get out of hand, I’ve seen Sheepy throw books at him before. Hehe!

Friday is here once again!  It has been a busy week, but I managed to read so much!  How is it that I always feel like I’m not reading enough?  Book blogger problems, I guess.
  Books I read
Snapshot by Brandon Sanderson
Daughter of the Pirate King by Tricia Levenseller
The Caged Queen by Kristen Ciccarelli
Career of Evil by Robert Galbraith
I managed to read for books this week, which is slightly insane.  I’m just going to run through them really quick! Keep an eye out for reviews of each book coming up soon.
Snapshot is a Brandon Sanderson novella that has his classic twist and is so engaging despite a slow start.  It’s not my favourite Sanderson novella, but I really enjoyed this one.
Daughter of the Pirate King is an action packed adventure filled with sassy pirates, secrets, and a hint of magic.  It’s a silly and ridiculously fun book that reads so quickly.
The Caged Queen is the sequel to last year’s The Last Namsara. I’m participating in the blog tour — you’ll be able to read an extract of the book here on Monday, so don’t forget to check back!
Career of Evil is the third book in Robert Galbraith/J. K. Rowling’s Cormoran Strike series.  I finished this up in anticipation of the fourth book’s release! She just keeps getting better and better, particularly with characterisation.
  Books I am currently reading
The Whispering Skull by Jonathan Stroud
Tarnished City by Vic James
The Lake House by Kate Morton
These Rebel Waves by Sarah Raasch
After Atlas by Emma Newman
Justine ‘I Can’t Read Only One Book at a Time’ strikes again.  Honestly, I was doing so well. I’m going to run through these really quickly too, as I have apparently decided to read five books at once.  Again.
The Whispering Skull is the second book in the Lockwood and Co. series.  I absolutely loved the first book and am determined to read them all!  I’m currently about 50 pages in.
Tarnished City is the second book in the Dark Gifts trilogy, of which Gilded Cage is the first.  Although I initially had some trouble falling back into this world, I am really loving this one.  My predictions about the plot moving along quicker in this one were correct! I am about 90 pages from the end as of the writing of this post and plan to finish tonight.
The Lake House is a lovely, atmospheric historical women’s fiction novel recommended by Author Sister.  I’m only a few pages in, but plan to steal my Kindle back from Scottish Fiance and get cracking on this 600 page tome.
I made a pledge to myself that I would have at least read a chunk of each new Fairyloot book before the next month’s box arrives.  If I fail, I have to cancel FairyLoot. These Rebel Waves was the August book and I’m only a few pages in, but plan to dive in (hehe) this weekend.  My September FairyLoot box hasn’t shipped yet so I still have time.
Finally, my audiobook is After Atlas.  I’m doing the thing where I listen to books I desperately want to read off my TBR, but haven’t had the time to pick up.  It has worked great for Nevernight, Children of Time, and Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda.  I’m only an hour in, but hoping to listen to more this weekend as I slay dragons in Skyrim.
  Books I bought/preorders
Pages and Co. by Anna James
Sadie by Courtney Summers
Sisters of the Winter Wood by Rena Rossner
Three preorders came through this week, and each one is so different from the rest.  Pages and Co. is a lovely middle grade book about the love of books and reading. Sadie is a dark contemporary novel about a girl who is on the hunt for her sister’s murderer and the radio DJ that creates a podcast about the case.  Finally, Sisters of the Winter Wood is an Eastern European fairy tale that sounds like it has some Katherine Arden vibes.  I absolutely cannot wait to read all three of these!
  Book post
The Caged Queen by Kristen Ciccarelli
I mentioned The Caged Queen above,as I picked it up as soon as I could for the blog tour. What a gorgeous cover!
  NetGalley approvals
Murder by the Book by Claire Harman
The World of Lore: Volume 3 by Aaron Mahnke
Two interesting nonfiction titles came through from NetGalley this week!  Murder by the Book is about a notorious murder case in Victorian London, which combines many of my favourite reading subjects.  The World of Lore is a companion to the Lore podcast, which I dip into from time to time and would highly recommend.  I don’t know much about the book but it sounds like it will be similar to the podcast — telling strange and unusual tales about the world we live in.  I’m really excited for both of these!
That’s it for this week!  This weekend will be my last quiet one for awhile — I’m going to London for an event with Hot Key Books next Saturday and there is a book blogger meet-up in Birmingham on the following Saturday.  Also, Scottish Fiance is running a 10K and then the Oxford Half Marathon, so cheer him on via the interwebs!
  Worship me.
What did you read this week?  Did you pick up any good books?  Have you read any of these? Let me know!
I read four books this week -- check them out! Plus: kitties, preorders, and five current reads. Weekly Wrap-Up: 21 September 2018 #bookbloggers #bookreviews Friday is here once again!  It has been a busy week, but I managed to read so much!
