aw hey!!! hope your year has been going well too!! i have decided to give you my erisol understuck au proof of concept thoughts LOL

i have rotated this damn mini au in my head so many times. the comedy to be found in eridan being mettaton AND the royal scientist (and half-assedly pretending not to be) at the same time while sollux is stuck being an assistant/maintenance worker/public-facing royal scientist is so silly to me <3 anyways heres key notes on the au under a read more lol

eridan immediately shows off his walking around form to MSPA reader (who is obviously the best choice to be in the frisk role in an undertale au lets be real here) BEFORE the trivia show. sollux is also way more subtle about giving the right answers away, but still fucks up by pointing out a trick question, leading to the crush question

eridan's answers for "who does sol have a crush on" are aradia, feferi, karkat, and equius. this leads to bickering, mainly spurred by sollux being dumbfounded that eridan would put equius as an option out of all fourth options. MSPA reader, after listening to them yapping at each other for long enough, can get the option to pick eridan over the other options instead, leading to eridan flusteredly turning back to his little flying box form and comically floating away into the rafters. otherwise, the trivia battle ends on eridan trying to make fun of sollux and sollux complaining that everyone around him is stupid and cant read emotions lol

the rest of the hotland route is pretty unplanned; sollux probably minds his business, doesnt add you to his social media, and is blunt when having to direct you through the puzzles. he has no issues about being liked like alphys does hes is Just There he is Chilling. if you pick eridan in the trivia battle theres bonus dialogue sollux brings up about eridan + they probably get a "yeah i give a shit about you i guess, whatever, shut up" level of a confession scene after eridan's battle lol

not getting into all the ELABORATE thoughts i have on how the geno route would go but listen. look at the design i gave eridan. you know hes going down in one hit with a well placed shattering of the glass stomach as a homage to his canon death LOL

yknow what? for this spooky month; why dont i show the process for my *trick*ster designs as a *treat* >:)

ive been fiddling with these designs on and off tbh lmao; eridan's trickster design is based on his inverted color palette, and sollux's design is based on rotating his primary colors into secondary colors <3

BOTH of them intentionally have shades of green in their design to signify their ties to each other from being halves of erisolsprite; the oranges matching (and having each other's color too!) just happens to be coincidence lol

god my favorite right now HAS to be how obnoxiously codependent they can get post-sprite; fellas is it gay to get fused together to form the existence of an entire new entity with the guy you can't stand, have that new guy explode, and leave you two irreparably changed like playdough thats been played with so much that the colors start to marble together? is it gay to live your life after, learning how to love yourself and grow, and realize that you have been tied so closely to the guy you didnt like that now learning to love yourself means you've been learning how to love HIM by proxy too? fellas is it gay as hell to notice how you've gotten a soulmate against your will and yet willingly make it work?

i think MAYBE if there is duck tape still holding my brain together that counts as everything in once piece LMAO

anywho, heres an interesting one i dont think ive talked about yet; eridan needs a lot of trust in someone to feel comfortable with his gills out in the open.

even WITHOUT my headcanons of him layering extra clothes under his sweater, eridan wears a turtleneck under his scarf for protection if it falls off; he's uncomfortable with people with free access to his gills. i like to think that seadweller gills are easy to get infected if any germs or particulates get in there and eridan in particular just gets a bit squeamish at the thought that other seadwellers arent as concerned about it. quite frankly, eridans protection of his gills is the biggest indicator that he might deal with symptoms of ocd if you're looking for it lol

so THEN, when sollux is in the equation and they're on good terms, that is a LOT of unspoken trust being given if eridan lets sollux look and, if not just saying no touching at all, just asking him to be careful and not touch the gills directly while he examines them. i always find the idea cute of eridan teaching sollux about seadweller anatomy and going on gill-related tangents before sollux's curiosity is sated and he loses interest lmao

honestly feeling about the same tbh!! life has been weird lately LMAO. anyways, confessions hm? lets see what my brain whips up

eridan and sollux are both VERY complicated with their feelings in the sense that they're somewhat bad at confessing the length of their affections outright; eridan accepts that he has the feelings but doesn't want to risk admitting it on the chance it ruins something, while sollux kicks that shit under the rug and tells you, what rug? he doesnt even HAVE a rug to shove shit under in the first place, asshole, what are you talking about

HOWEVER. they use this to their goddamn advantage when other people are trying to push them together or bet on when they'll finally get together. if those two little shits catch wind that people are trying to bet money on them getting together they will get goddamn diplomatic about it; they will phrase things specifically and make temporarily complex boundaries so that NOBODY but them will win. they will say "CLEARLY there is nothing to confess because our feelings are just so clear at this point, and obviously we don't need to label anything between us. if we HAPPEN to start holding hands and kissing as part of our dynamic, who is truly able claim thats a new relationship" and continue on their bastardous little ways

ooooh, facts plural eh? lemme see what ive been thinking of recently lol ✨

eridan is a nb trans man/gnc trans man (he/him only) who is aspec and panromantic. sollux is a binary trans man (he/him only, but mentally categorizes it as blue he/him and red he/him for fun) who is demisexual and biromantic. both of them are two sides of the same coin with their slightly different approaches to their similar identities.

the other trolls tend to lean towards pronouncing the "sol" in sollux's name the same as the word "soul"; eridan pronounces "sol" like "saul", and sollux cant help but notice that it makes eridans nickname for him sound a little warmer. (this inadvertently makes room for "better call sol" jokes now that i think about the erisol phone motif lmfao)

eridan is the one who tends to get feelings first; its a slow build up where he just realizes the feeling is THERE one day. sollux gets feelings second; its "falling" in the sense that its like his heart has been pushed down some goddamn stairs lmfao

how about this one; eridan and sollux have different styles of stress dream imagery

for sollux, its generally a state of decay; abandoned places with long grass and various states of animal carcases, decapitated snakes, zombies that try to bite him awake, the apocalypse -- stuff that brings in a feeling of the doomed

for eridan, its a little more complex; hiding defenceless in a changing room at the mall while half-life style aliens start to fire guns, getting lost while trying to get somewhere or time going by too quickly trying to get some sleep before the next day, people that he knows not acting quite right while staring too long and too intensely-- a wider array of things that *usually* bring in a feeling of helplessness

sometimes, ESPECIALLY post-sprite, the themes overlap a little lmao. when they get stress dreams, sollux just Wakes Up for the night if he gets one, eridan at least Tries to settle back down to sleep if he wakes up too early

ah! i went to sleep before seeing this; now this is an erisol fact for the morning lmao

after pesterquest implied in its offshoot canon that eridan frequently calls sollux, i've always liked the idea that sollux treats his calls like a podcast or white noise to listen to while working, and eridan will just go on any damn tangent he pleases; sometimes he rambles to the point that his voice gets hoarse because, while he likes hearing his own voice, he also appreciates that sollux actually finds his long calls useful to get things done, even if hes not processing all of what he says in the end

(sollux, in turn, will sometimes offer to have eridan just listen to him read off his codes that arent working right; since eridan doesnt REALLY need to do anything while his presence is being used as a rubber duck stand in, and sollux tends to call when its late, he likes to fall asleep to these calls)

oh its SO strange how i can have so many headcanons about erisol and completely blank when prompted lmfao

how about this one; eridan and sollux both know how to play the piano-- for eridan its because he has nothing better to do most days and mainly practices by ear, for sollux its because he needs outlets for his psionics and he mainly copies from videos. they will rarely learn how to play the same song, either coincidentally or competitively, and will decide to play it together. if it has lyrics, eridan will always be the one to start humming or outright singing the lyrics if he feels like it; if sollux is feeling particularly okay with himself, he might quietly add in with backup vocals, if there is any

oh howdy howdy! bit of a weird day today, but nothing a good erisol headcanon can't fix >:)

silly little headcanon, but i always like the idea that (in the specific instance of the trolls getting hoodies with their godtiers on them for whatever goddamn reason) eridan likes wearing sollux's doom hoodie more than his hope hoodie; it's mostly from the fact that he thinks camo green goes better with his violet color more than pale yellow, but also from the fact that the doom aspect is mildly comforting given his role in destroying hope

ohh heres a funny one i like to go back to from time to time; sollux is FRUSTRATINGLY aware of how many twos eridan has in his appearance and life in general. his horns bend twice, he has two colors in his outfit (violet and blue), he has two pieces of his outfit that are striped two different shades of blue, he has two fingers on each hand with two rings-- the fingers he can turn into two V's or one W, he doubles two letters in his quirk, his ancestor is named dualscar, etc etc etc lmao

oh this ones at the front of my mind today; eridan and sollux are BOTH tactile towards each other, but where eridan shows it through little physical gestures, sollux shows it more times through his psionics. eridan will hold out a hand or hold open his arms, while sollux will just lightly tug on eridan's hand with his powers, straight up lift eridan closer, etc lmfao

as much as i dont typically enjoy cronus on the average day due to his canon smarmy nature, his fanon potential for that generic older brother dynamic with eridan is always pretty fun; they're scallywags, they're rascals, they hang out together to play cronus's greaser music and make a shitty cake or something while telling stupid jokes and comments; they bond about feeling othered if you let cronus have that jab at otherkin hussie threw in the comic as a genuine trait; eridan occasionally calls himself 'danny' when talking about himself because he appreciates the familial context cronus uses it; its surprisingly average considering the two sea shitheads involved LMAO
