An honest review of Zeerover

Bon dia

Today I am going to give you an honest review of Zeerover.  

Zeerover is a local bar and restaurant situated on the waterfront in the fishermen's town of Savaneta. Here they serve fresh fried fish and shrimps with side orders of fried plantain, french fries, pan bati (local version of cornbread), onions in vinegar and tartarsauce. Everything is served to you in a basket as you sit on the dock overlooking the water as fishermen bring in their catch which in fact could have been your meal if you came a few hours later. That said, this is not a place for fancy dining but rather a place where you are welcomed to kick back, relax and get your hands dirty. 

It's only whatever the catch of the day is and shrimp, and it is quickly "fried" in oil but without batter.  You really get the flavour of the fish. And there are sides,  and a great sunset view because you are literally sitting on a dock. Truly one-of-a-kind, and The best value on the islands. If you get there and there isn't a long line, count yourself lucky, because people in the know go here for a great seafood dinner. It's far south, away from the high rises and the low rises, but worth the trip for anyone who has a car. Especially if you want to try something different and authentic.

Oranjestad

Oranjestad is de hoofdstad van Aruba. De stad is met ongeveer 35.000 inwoners de grootste plaats van het eiland en wordt in de volksmond ook Playa genoemd. Oranjestad is gebouwd rond het Fort Zoutman, dat tussen 1796 en 1798 door de Nederlanders is gebouwd ter verdediging van het eiland. Voor 1790 was het zuidelijk gelegen Savaneta de Arubaanse hoofdstad. Omstreeks 1860 woonden er ruim 1000 mensen.

Sint-Nicolaas is de tweede grootste stad van Aruba. Het heeft een andere sfeer dan de hoofdstad. Ze zeggen dat het daar net iets ruiger is, maar dat wil ik zeker wel zelf eens onderzoeken. Ik wil heel graag Charlie’s bar gaan bezoeken. Het is een enorm gezellig café waar ik zeker met mijn medestudenten een toffe avond tegemoet zal gaan.

To say we are well here would be an understatement. We ate fabulously!!!! . Yesterday we hit Zeerovers, a local must visit where u stand in line as soon as you get there to order your catch of the day by the weight before hitting a second line for drinks. . You then sit on their pier while they deep fry your food to absolute perfection. . We had red snapper and shrimp along with fries and plantains. Holy snapper...soooo good and definitely lived up to its reputation. Flying fishbone (Savaneta, Aruba) takes the concept of beachside dining by actually setting up shop on the beach. Each table is on the sand, right up against the water which means that you can feel the sand in your toes while you eat fish that was still swimming just hours before.
