Drawing a black character less than the color YOU think is good? Have you ever tried to color skin? There are so many ways to do it, there are so so many colors you combine and you play around with + lighting and shading that alters everything. and yeah maybe some people pick a different color, a lighter one, or a more yellow one than they should for asiatic people, or whatever. but these tones are NOT easy to get well (you can always put a brown color down and to call it a day, but maybe people won’t want that. I love domestic Bakugou so much, thank you for asking for this! This takes places when Bakugou is in his early twenties. His hero name is taken from concept art by Horikoshi.

When was the last time Katsuki had done anything for Halloween? A long ass time ago, it had been ages, and he wasn’t overly fond of the idea his partner proposed: staying in giving out candy to neighborhood children. Katsuki was, as his partner would put it, not a people person, and he very much valued being able to enjoy the privacy of his own home without strangers constantly knocking on his door and demanding candy. What was even the point of trick or treating? Why did he have to spend his hard earned money to peddle junk food to strangers’ children dressed in strange costumes? He objected profusely to his partner’s plan, but still found his credit card being charged for copious amounts of candy, and his house decorated to befit the spooky season. His partner was so into Halloween, it was ridiculous, he hated it. He loved them, but he hated this.

You’d think there would be a spike of crime on Halloween, but with so many people out and about, criminals were actually laying low for the night, so he couldn’t save himself by using work as an excuse. He decided to just hunker down and watch some horror movies by himself in the living room while letting his partner take care of the hordes of children coming to his front door. Why couldn’t they just do this at their house? Why did it have to be his house? Besides, it was dangerous to let your kids walk around going to random strangers’ doors, how could you be sure you’d end up with a normal, law-abiding citizen and not a terrifying villain who might kill you and kidnap your kid? The whole concept seemed idiotic to him, and he most definitely would not be engaging in it whenever he had kids.

He had made some minor adjustments to the decorations adorning the outside of his house, making the house look more intimidating, terrifying, in the hope that it would scare most people off, much to the irritation of his partner, who disliked his hatred for the holiday. Still, they let him keep his especially dark and spooky decorations up, since it was his house, and he had the final say.

The first trick or treater arrived around 5:30pm, a little girl wearing a nekomata costume, and Katsuki’s partner was at the door, happily giving the little girl a heaping handful of candy before wishing her a happy Halloween. Katsuki was sat on the couch under a thick blanket watching Ju-On. The next few kids arrived about ten minutes later, there were four of them; one was dressed as a ghost, another was dressed as an ax murderer, another was dressed as the main ghost from Ju-On, and the last was dressed as Kaonashi from Spirited Away. Again, his partner took care of the kids coming to the door.

This continued for another couple of hours, every now and then he’d be forced to answer the door by his partner, or at least hold the bowl for them, until the third movie was over and he had to get up to change it. His partner took advantage of the fact that he was off the couch. Throughout the night, all the usual suspects came out to play; kids dressed as vampires, werewolves, witches, zombies, a few Frankenstein’s monsters, youkai, and some heroes that Katsuki either didn’t recognize or didn’t like, though there was a kid dressed as the Hero Killer who showed up, so that was interesting.

“Katsuki! I need to pee, can you get the door this time?” His partner called as they ran to bathroom; they didn’t really need to pee, they were just forcing him into it, and he knew that.

“What? No! You deal with them!” Katsuki called after them, watching as they dashed into the bathroom and shut the door, “Why are you doing this to me?! I didn’t even want to do Halloween!”

After a few seconds, he sighed and begrudgingly accepted his fate; they weren’t going to come out until after he’d given at least one set of kids some candy on his own. He walked to the front door and grabbed the stupidly large bowl filled with all sorts of candy that his partner had prepared for the occasion, and opened the door. What he saw when he opened the door shocked him.

There were six little kids, they couldn’t have been older than four or five, and they were accompanied by a couple of adults; there were four little boys, one dressed as Deku, another dressed as Kaminari, another dressed as All Might, and the final dressed as him, and two little girls dressed as Jirou and Ashido. There were a group of little kids at his front door dressed like him and his friends, and seeing a little kid dressed up at him broke his resolve. He and the kid looked at each other for a moment, and the whole group immediately lit up in a chorus of high pitched exclamation of delight at the sight of the actual Hypocenter standing at the door, wearing a black shirt with a skull design on the chest, grey sweatpants, and holding a massive bowl of candy.

Katsuki melted, a kid thought he was cool enough to dress up as for Halloween; he remembered dressing up as All Might for Halloween when he was small, and he thought his heart might burst, he didn’t expect that sort of thing to happen for him. He dumped two large handfuls of candy into that kid’s grenade kote candy holder, which he was impressed by, and gave the other kids a good amount of candy as well, but not before asking the kids and their parents if he could take a picture of them to send to the others who they had dressed up as. 

He ran back to the couch and grabbed his phone before slipping a pair of loafers on and stepping out of his house to take a picture with the kids. He got down on their level and they happily crowded around him as he opened his camera app. He took a few pictures with them, making sure they were good, before giving them each just a bit more candy and sending them on their way, sending the pictures to the friends of his who were being dressed up as, and sending it to All Might to show him as well.

After that, though, Katsuki went back to being somewhat reluctant to answer the door and hand out candy, though he did it on his own without being asked several times. He gave up on watching his horror movies, he was being interrupted during them too many times to enjoy it, and he would stand with his partner while they passed out candy. Plenty of kids recognized him, and they all seemed extremely excited whenever he’d come out and give them candy. He’d give out warnings for them to be careful and stay in well-lit areas, because as much as he hated it, he didn’t want to hear about any children getting hurt that night, and he would wish them a happy Halloween. He softened up after the first kid he saw dressed as him, and as the night went on, he saw several more children dressed as him and people he knew, he continued to take pictures of them, with their parents’ consent of course, and Kirishima was delighted to see a bunch of little Red Riot wannabes popping by Katsuki’s house. 

The final trick or treaters of the night came around 11:30pm, by which point Katsuki and his partner were almost out of candy, and he was ready to go to bed, since he had work early the next morning. The doorbell rang, and he got up, wondering why the hell anyone was still out; the last ones before them had come almost an hour earlier. He found his answer once he opened the door: Deku, Kaminari, Kirishima, Ashido, Uraraka, Sero, Todoroki, and Iida were at the door, all dressed up for Halloween, having come from a party being hosted at Yaoyorozu’s home, each grinning and saying in a chorus trick or treat!

”You idiots are late, I’m all out of candy.” Katsuki told them, trying not to laugh as he looked at his friends.

Deku was dressed as a teru teru bouzu, Uraraka and Todoroki were dressed as ones too to match with him, Kaminari was dressed as an incubus, Kirishima was dressed as Little Red Riding Hood, because why the hell not, Ashido was dressed as his Big Bad Wolf since Katsuki had refused to take part and Kirishima needed someone to do it for him, Sero was Spiderman because of course he was, and Iida was dressed as his brother Tensei, though if Katsuki hadn’t known about the original Ingenium then he would have thought Iida was just dressing up as himself for Halloween.

“That’s fine, we brought some!” Kirishima responded cheerfully, holding up a giant pillowcase full of candy, “So, what’s on the movie list for tonight?”

“Nothing, little kids kept bothering me so I stopped watching movies a couple of hours ago.” Katsuki answered, managing to divvy up the remaining candy enough to drop some into each of his friends’ candy receptacles, “But since you guys are here… There’s an entry tax: hand over your cinnamon candies.”

The group happily complied, and Katsuki’s partner smiled as they watched everyone file into the house after dropping varying types of cinnamon-flavored candy into the emptied candy bowl. 

It was his first Halloween at home, and he was almost excited for the following year, though he’d never admit it to anyone else, most especially his partner, who seemed smug as he showed them the pictures of the kids who had come dressed as himself or his friends.
