Bro Bro, who I affected with the Genshin fever, pulled Raiden yesterday (I imparted my wisdom onto him, from the months I have been playing longer, and so he saved his guarantee for her), sunk his remaining 80 saved wishes into the weapons banner, and deadass got Ayato's sword. Twice.

2023 is officially about to end so i wanted to go over my genshin account and all the progress i’ve made this year. this isn’t a brag post ! i want to record my progress especially since i took a year break and a lot of things have changed. maybe you want to do this too?

this is like an insight into my genshin account if you guys just want to be nosey.. ehe. let’s get started (it’s gonna be long !!)

i started genshin in march 2021 !! i took a break from september 2021 to april 2023 however i came online multiple times during 2022, i just didn’t stay for good. i came back this april (with no specific date.) i came back with no 100% map, way too many quests, no fully ascended characters, no lvl10 friendships and no built characters.

this year i have fully ascended diluc, hu tao, lyney, zhongli, furina, kazuha, wanderer, heizou, cyno, alhaitham, nilou, kaeya, xingqiu, miko, jean, diona, ganyu & childe !!

the first character to be fully ascended & lvl90 was diluc !!

these characters have reached lvl90: diluc, hu tao, cyno, alhaitham, zhongli, heizou, wanderer, kazuha & nilou.

these characters have reached lvl10 friendship: diluc, hu tao, lyney, furina, kazuha, wanderer, heizou, alhaitham, nilou, miko, diona & chongyun.

when i came back i had three 5* weapons: wolfs gravestone and 2x aquila favonia.

i now have: r2 wolfs gravestone, 2x aquila favonia, 3x skyward harp, r3 lost prayers, r1 lost prayers, r2 vortex vanquisher, staff of scarlet sands, splendor of tranquil waters & staff of homa.

i have four areas left to 100% on my map (previously, i hadn't 100% any areas.) i have a total of 789 achievements done! i have maxed three out of five statues. i have maxed three reputations; mondstadt, liyue and fontaine. i have maxed the frostbearing tree and the sacred sakura! my favourite areas to explore was the hypostyle desert, dragonspine and tsurumi island! my favourite nations are fontaine & inazuma. my favourite nation osts are liyue, sumeru & inazuma.

i came back in april 2023 as a diluc, diona & chongyun main. i am ending december 2023 as a hu tao, zhongli, ayaka & heizou main.

i haven't played genshin seriously in MONTHS, i log on yesterday think to myself, eh i have guaranteed pity coming up, i kinda want wriothesley, what can like 5 pulls do?

so i pull two three star weapons, then c6 my sayu, then another 3 star weapon. i think to myself, eh just one more to build pity, what's the harm in that it's not like i'm gonna get- WHAT THE FUCK??? WHY IS IT GOLD??? and lo and behold what appears on my screen??? THIS MOTHERFUCKER!!

I HAVE BEEN WAITING. 2 FUCKING YEARS FOR THIS MOTHERFUCKER????? I SPENT ACTUALLY MONEY TRYING TO GET HIM THE FIRST TIME???? AND HE HAS THE AUDACITY TO COME HOME NOW???

don't get me wrong i am THRILLED i have loved this little freak for AGES and he's FINALLY here but BROOOOO THE ONE TIME I DIDN'T REALLY EVEN WANT YOU???? he's the goofiest of all time i'm so glad he's home i've had shit for him stockpiled for YEARS

also i think it's funny that the primos i used to pull for him i got in the battle event that's going on right now, that feels pretty on brand for him.

Thoughts: RIGHT I forgot I was doing these!!! Jesus. Ok so I am missing the 20 pull I did on Kokomi's banner earlier in summer, so there will be a little info lost there. BUT a while back I did a 70 pull for Zhongli anD I GOT HIM ON THE VERY LAST ONE. I've missed him on his two previous banners which was such a shame cause he's one of my favourite lore characters SO I WAS DETERMINED TO BRING HOME THIS YEAR. I also managed to get a Diluc cause I lost my first 50/50, which in retrospect is a good thing cause god knows I need a good pyro dps. I'm really happy I got Freminet and Sayu as well, cause both of them were on my 4* wishlist. All in all, a great banner and a great experience. I have a video recording of the whole thing since I streamed it, and I'll slowly start working on editing it once I have extra time on the weekends.

I'm also gonna start doing consistent pull posts with a slightly altered system now that I've fully organised myself with building process and wishlists. Perhaps I'll make a post about those as well. I'm slowly coming back baby!

It's unanimous: Nahida is one of the strongest characters in game. And my dendro teams could definitely use some help. SO! i decided to roll for Nahida on her re-reun. i even pre-farmed for her which is something i don't usually do. Here's what i got:

I was so so happy!!! She came home early.

ive been saving for xiaõ but i really really wanted my c6 sayu and a thoma so i meticulously calculated the chances of me getting hu tao accidentally

i felt safe enough so i rolled like 40 times (got 4 dionas and no thoma or sayu) so i did like 5 single pulls and on the last one the freakin gold appeared and i was like whdgquhss im like only on 40 pity? but i realised i was stupid and forgot i had some 30~ pity left from childes banner

So my characters who are lv 90 are venti, diluc, raiden shogun, the traveler, Bennet, xiaoling, zhongli, kaeya and Barbara everyone else is either 70 or 80 and I'm trying to not get broke with mora while leevjing them up dksks (they all be so expensive.... Also I hate the Boss you have to fight for Xiao)

OKAY SO im gonna cut it bc damn i cannot shut the fuck up im so sorry ZBDKZN

first, general advice:

don't use google's advice on builds, especially websites with "gaming" in the title or whatever. they're full of shit, they don't even play the game and they just pick a few reddit comments and craft the most horrendous builds off of them. same goes with most youtubers

read your characters' talents. see how they scale: is it atk, def, hp..? do they get a separate dmg bonus from some other stat? do they give a bonus to the rest of the team? check every talent, and figure out the role of your character. is it a main dps, a sub dps, a shielder, a healer etc. also see which stat they get when they ascend: most classic main dps get crit (diluc, xiao, hu tao, ayato, yae etc), some hybrid (can be main or sub dps) get elemental bonus (yanfei), burst dps get er% (xingqiu, mona) etc etc.

read artifacts sets' effects and see which would fit your character. also check which elemental reactions they can make. keep in mind that melt and vaporize can crit, but the others can't. so if you want to make a team with overload, prefer elemental mastery over crit.

as for crit, try to get at least 50% crit rate and 130% crit dmg on your main dps. it's a pretty solid start, but if you're motivated, you can aim for 70% rate and 200% dmg. you generally achieve that with a character that ascends in crit and with a lot of luck, so don't worry if you can't

your flower and your feather will always be flat hp and flat atk, so look for the substats. if you can get both crit rate and crit dmg, it's perfect, but either way try to have one of them on every artifact, except for venti, kazuha and full healers. venti and kazuha need elemental mastery, healers need er% (and either atk - jean, sayu, qiqi - hp - barbara, kokomi, bennett - or def - noelle). the key is to understand what the character needs

always try to give some elemental mastery to your main dps, especially if it's a pyro, hydro or cryo dps. these elements are the strongest thanks to vaporize and melt. but crit is just as good

now for the specific advice. in the abyss, my basic party would be: main dps, shield, sub dps, and healer. it keeps you alive while dealing dmg, which you'll need bc no food there </3

you can try a team with diluc, zhongli, kaeya and bennett. i found that diluc and kaeya work rather well together (which makes me laugh bc. yk.), bennett is perfect for anyone but especially pyro dps if you have him c6, and zhongli has a godly shield so he'll keep them safe. if you have ganyu, ayaka or chongyun, they could replace kaeya and give better cryo application

diluc does well with 2p crimson and 2p atk!! an elemental mastery timepiece could also be good on him with kaeya, since the goal is to maximize his dmg with the melt reaction. atk is also fine

zhongli should have lots of hp and some dmg, i personally have him on hp/geo/hp and he manages pretty well. 3p tenacity is good to buff the whole team, but you can also try 2p tenacity and 2p emblem!

kaeya can be either 2p blizzard 2p atk or 2p blizzard and 2p noblesse, with the basic atk/cryo/crit and some energy recharge

bennett's best shot is 4p noblesse with energy recharge/hp/healing bonus. stack him with er and hp to have his ult almost constantly and a good heal

as for the talents, diluc needs all 3 of them as high as possible, kaeya can manage with skill and ult prioritized. focus on zhongli's shield & on bennett's ult!!

this team could also make fighting xiao's boss easier, that way you can also use him in the abyss bc he's still one of the best dps of the game <3

another team you could try is raiden, venti, xiangling and barbara. you won't have a shield with this one, so id say use it against mobs that venti can control so that they don't attack you as much

you don't exactly have a main dps here, but it could work (just to be clear i don't have raiden so im not 100% sure absjz). basically with her, you should have their ult almost constantly, which is perfect because xiangling and venti get most of their dmg with their ult and barbara's skill cooldown is a PAIN

raiden and xiangling would need the same build: emblem of severed fate. er% timepiece, elemental dmg cup and crit hat. aim for at least 200% er%, which means substats but also the fish weapon if you have it!! xiangling also needs elemental mastery, the em 4* spear is good on her bc of the pyro bonus passive

give venti the viridescent set, 4p and full elemental mastery. crit isn't as important bc swirl doesn't crit, so aim instead for er% substats & maybe the sacrificial bow if you have it

and barbara does well with the maiden set, but if you want some extra dmg then kokomi's set can be cool on her as well, it just means you'll need to get closer to the mobs. hp/hp/healing bonus is preferred, her ult doesn't do any dmg so hydro bonus isn't exactly necessary
